Phoenix’s 12 Best Indian Restaurants | Eater Phoenix

"Intimate and cozy, patrons frequent India Palace for its onion kulcha and lamb vindaloo. The garlic naan is one not to miss, nor are the crispy samosas. (Couples or families will not find it difficult to share either, since portions are generous.) The chicken tikka masala hits just right — and spice levels can be adjusted to accommodate a variety of palates. This is one of the more classic spots in the Metro, so if you’re looking for an essential experience, you’ve found it." - McConnell Quinn

The building seems authentic. Everything is very clean and open. Got recommendations from the server and clarification. The best part was that the food was extravagant! I will come back here over many other indian restaurants I've tried throughout the valley.

Ordered tandoori chicken, aloo matar, and naans. Food was good. The Aloo Matar was very flavorful. The service was a little slow. As we were eating, noticed a lot of take out. We would come back.

Sofia and Monvav (I apologize if I butchered the spelling of your names) were great. Very attentive and helpful navigating various allergies. The food was amazing we ordered 3 Items of the menu and they were each cooked to perfection. If you are a fan of the spicy this space offers great heat plus flavor. ( I ordered a 10/10 for spice and my partner ordered a 6/10) We were both ecstatic on what was prepared for us. If you like a mild heat I'd recommend a 2/10. Great space! The lighting was simple and non intrusive. Great prices.

Google
This place is shockingly quiet more often than not, and considering the quality of the food I cannot imagine why. Things are well priced, come out really fast, and are phenomenal across the board. Occasionally, the quality can vary, which does seem to differ from day to day based on who is cooking, however it only fluctuates from a 4/5 to a 5/5. Ordering out, the food quality does seem to suffer a bit, so I recommend eating in if you can.

Google
Although this place has got poor google review, food was good. I believe they really need to work on their hospitality part as they clealry were understaffed. I had to repeatedly ask for refilling water. Another thing that I would like to point out is that the food was relatively spicier. I mean we ordered 6/10 spicy🌶️ level food but indeed got something like 9/10. I'm sure that many won't be able to tolerate this level of spicy food. I hope they address these minor but obvious issues, and they can do really good.

I want to give some honest feedback. If your service is slow, at least wipe the floors while people wait. The front of your restaurant looks horrible. The floors inside need waxing, and staff should wipe up after every service. Honestly, why even try to run a restaurant when your location is a glorified diner at best? I get that you’re trying to promote the diner vibe, but that’s no excuse for dirty floors and a run-down front. Bad enough that people from our community are already made fun of on TikTok—why not prove them wrong by keeping the place clean? It’s not hard. Clean it up. This is why you can’t fill your dinner service. Make people feel comfortable in a clean place if you want them to eat dinner here. Either bring your prices down a bit or serve a little more. Look at Persian Room—they’re booked daily because they don’t cheap out on the customer.

Google
Never again. I adore Indian cuisine and it takes a LOT to get me to refuse to give a restaurant my business again, but they hit this disaster out of the park! The cheese naan was quite pleasant, the Gohbi Manchurian was tangy & tasty, but the goat tikka masala was a slaughterhouse. Not only was every single piece of meat still attached to bones, but there were also small shards of bone free-floating in the masala. Everything else about the meal was delicious; finding the entree so thoroughly desecrated was a tremendous disappointment!

Google
The food here is so Delicious. This was my first time EVER having Indian Cuisine, and it surpassed all my expectations. My boyfriend loves this place and I just know we will be back for more.

Yelp
3/8/2025 Wife and I stopped for Lunch today. Parking 5/5 Arrived 5 minutes before opening so the lot was ours. There is plenty of private parking including Handicapped spaces by the front door. Ambiance 5/5 We were greeted immediately by a pleasant Gentleman and were seated in the waiting area. The waiting area is nice and includes a separate seating in-the-round with a map of India with photos on wall. We were seated in the dining area which is always very nice (redecorated). The white linen table dress wasn't present possibly reserved for the dinner service which is when we've visited in the past. Menu 5/5 We took a walk on the wild side, meaning we ventured from or normal order-off the menu go-to's decided to try the Lunch Service Buffet. It was time to checkout other proteins and "flavoFlavs" ! Food 5/5 Provided with the buffet is an order of Garlic/Regulr Naan and multiple trips at the Buffet. My Wife 1st trip was for the Goat Marsala and Rice, I tried the butter and mixed vegetable Marsala and jasmine rice. Absolutely amazing flavors and delicious! We both tried other flavors and proteins on our second pass. Again, everything was great. Frequent flyer tip: If you know your Indian dishes and have a favorite order from the Menu. We decided to be more adventurous today but will order our favorite (Worlds best Chicken Tikka Marsala) from the menu next trip and yes many more visits! This is the very best Indian restaurant in the Valley Keep on Yelping my Friends!

Yelp
Just spent over $60 for a 2 person meal. Horribly small portions for the $$ with so much better Indian food out there. Will not ever buy from here again. Triple portions of rice and one naan. Complete and total ripoff.

Yelp
very authentic and delicious indian food , butter chicken has a wonderful flavor , big portions will definitely come back in the future

Yelp
This Indian restaurant is still a 5 star for me. Here's an updated review since it has been a few years! Did an early Valentine's Day lunch buffet and as always the food was delicious. A few items had a bit of a kick. A buffet is a great choice to try several dishes that might be new to you! There was a fried cabbage dish that I had not tried before. Chicken seemed to be the main meat offering in many of the dishes, so if you want something not chicken related, the main menu might be a better choice. Service at noon was quick and our dirty dishes were whisked away quickly. I enjoy the interior, as there is always lots of tables.

Yelp
It's been a little bit since I purchased my food from here, I didn't leave a review right away. But I remember the food being very good, and I appreciated the kindness of the serving staff.

Yelp
Came here for the first time for Phoenix restaurant week and I liked the different variety of vegan and non vegan options. I really enjoyed the aloo matar, it was very flavorful. I got the spice level of 5 and I personally didn't think it was spicy so if you like spice I would recommend a higher level. The staff was very attentive and brought out our food quickly, the service was great.
google avatar

Yelp
Indian Delhi Palace has a traditional Indian menu with a wide variety of meat and vegetarian offerings. I've been for their lunch buffet and for dinner service and really enjoyed both. Sometimes the service is a bit slow but I just try to enjoy the overall experience! My favorite dish is vegetable korma and paneer tikka masala. My husband loves the lamb vindaloo and cheesy naan.

Yelp
The food was very flavorful and tasty. I had the okra and rice. That was my first time having that. It was absolutely delicious.

Yelp
The food was great Everyone enjoyed this meals The service was good and we were well tended The atmosphere was authentic I'd like to go back and try the buffet.

Yelp
The food was delicious the order in which the food came out didn't make much sense. The chicken soup was soooo good. The garlic bread delicious.

Francesca R.

Yelp
I had my birthday party there last night and everyone had a great time. Some of us did not know Indian food well and some of us have loved it for years, but all of us agreed that every dish was delicious. The staff was very friendly and our server impressed us all by getting all eight orders exactly eight, including spice levels! I chose this restaurant for my party because the food is delicious and also because the decor is lovely. Everyone was very comfortable. It's an excellent place to introduce neophytes as well. Highly recommended. Will definitely visit again.

Yelp
Over priced for such a limited selection buffet. Price has doubled since Covid. Having eaten here for many years, with a three year absence, I was disappointed in the reduce selection. The tandory chicken, nann and curried lentils were still good, however the varied meats in the same curry sauce and watered down Palak Paneer were disapointing. I used to just stop & pick up Nann & Palak Paneer for a treat between visits. Fails my cost/benefit standard, so won't be coming back. Maybe will try again next year.

Ann M.

Yelp
Really good curry and Dahl. The Taj Mahal beer is smooth and thirst quenching. The service is quick and the servers are knowledgeable about the dishes. Some interesting art pieces are around the. Restaurant.

Don G.

Yelp
The minute you enter Indian Delhi Palace, the beautiful aromas of curry and Indian spices grab you. It is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service and spectacular Indian foods. Our server was excellent, which added to the wonderful dining experience. We will be back!
google avatar

Sheisalive G.

Yelp
My tandori chicken was raw in the inside and the salad was far from fresh. The service is very bad they take for ever to serve and they are pretty distracted. I did spoke to what seems to be the manager at the time and he just smile. The ambiance is not the same. I used to love this place but it has fallen very drastically will not recommend at all

Yelp
I was very excited to try this place. It was referred to me by a friend of mine who visits regularly. He gave me a $80 gift card so that I may take my family to try their Sunday brunch buffet Every thing was going great until i was denied my gift card. The host swiped the card on his machine and quickly said to me that there was no money on the gift card. I asked if he could check again and or call someone for help and he denied my request. After paying for the meal and went to the car and scanned the code on the back of the card ... to my surprise it showed that there was $80 on it. I went back and showed him proof and all I got was a shrug and was told to come back another time to try again. This left a sour taste in my mouth that made me forget the rest of my experience. I'm sure the food was good but I felt deceived. I will never come back..

Joel S.

Yelp
I have been going to this Indian buffet lunch for several years. The last two times some of the hot food dishes were room temperature and the place looked a little grungy. Some of the tables had used plates the whole time I was there. The bathroom also needed some attention. To add insult to injury, there was a price increase. I dont think it's worth the money they are now charging.
google avatar

Julie L.

Yelp
So rude and lies about the tone the restaurant closes. Came from far away and 40 minutes to close, they wouldn't do a Togo order... come on.
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
Stopped in last night just looking for some quick Indian food, first appearances the front of the restaurant looks really cool and inside looked nicely decorated. The restaurant was pretty slow with only one other table. Service was quick and nice. The food was very yummy. We asked for medium spice and it was hot but good. I do wish more rice was given especially since just the buttered chicken was $18, I was hoping for a little more of a serving. Overall the experience was good and I would come back. (But one request to the restaurant would be a good cleaning, walls/light switches/floor were very dirty which is noticeable from the tables.)

Yelp
Shame. I used to drive 45 minutes for my favorite dish..the lamb pasanda. For years it was sliced, tender lamb meat. They are now serving this dish ( at $23 chef special) like any curry with the dried cubes of mutton. I happiky paid more for this "chefs special" because it was a better cut of meat and only Indian Palace serves a non mutton dish. I have gotten this dish over 20 times. I ordered this dish from my initial male server. When I enquired I was told I was wrong and it was never sliced despite it stating it on the menu and the ONLY reason I would drive 45 minutes for Indian. I felt gaslighted, being told repeatedly I was wromg and that is how the dish comes. At this point a female server came by. I was in the middle of my meal and she asked if everything was okay and if finished. I said it was fine. She asked if I wanted dessert and I said no. She was rude and condescending and rushed me throughout my meal. It was 5pm on Monday night so not busy. I still was eating and drinking my beer when she asked me if I wanted boxes. Then dropped off the boxes and bag ..which they never used to do. They used to wrap up my meal. What am I paying a tip for? Why can't you box up my food? Covid is over. The bill was dropped off and I told the female server I would like to stay and finish my beer while I packaged up my meal. For context ..I was in my nursing uniform. I'm a hospice RN and I had a very stressful, sad day and all I wanted was to wind down and get served the food I ordered. Instead I felt like they were anxious to get rid of me. I put my card down but after no one came to process my bill I went up to the take out stand to pay. I spoke to my initial male server and asked to speak to a manager. I was told he was not working. He asked what was wrong and I re-explained the lamb pasanda was not as advertised nor as previously experienced. I explained they used to wrap up your food and no longer do this. I explained I felt rushed..all in a calm manner. The female server was rolling silverware but left to.confront me. She moved the male server out of the way and stated " if you don't like it don't pay". I calmly stated the dish was different and she stated they had a new chef and it's not her or the male servers fault. I was happy to pay for my meal and would have tipped 10% and honestly, I found her attitude insulting. I didn't complain to get a free meal. I asked questions and was gaslit and treated like an inconvenience. I didn't want to talk to her but she made a point to confront me. After working 13 hours today with dying people the last thing I need to do or want to do is write a review. But Indian Palace..you deserve it. I won't be coming back.

Yelp
Came out here for a date night with the hubby! The food was absolutely delicious! The food was so fresh and definitely left us feeling satisfied. The service received was great! If you're in the mood for some Indian food definitely come check this place out.
google avatar

Shanita F.

Yelp
The food here is very good! I ordered the chicken tikka masala and naan. Very tasty! They good was brought out very quickly, and it was nice and hot. The restaurant only had 2 other tables occupied when I arrived around 6 pm, but more people arrived as I was leaving and I saw a few delivery orders being picked up.

Richard P.

Yelp
This place charges an 18% service charge, even they don't take your order or serve the food to you--since it is a buffet. They did not tell us in advance of the 18% service charge, nor when we were paying, so we all included our usual tip in the 15% range. Even if we had noticed the service fee, 18% is ridiculous for a buffet. It feels like they do not care about our repeat business. The place was nearly empty. Now we know why. They also charge 3% if you use your credit card. The food was okay. I will not be surprised if this place is closed next time I drive by.

Jesse U.

Yelp
The food delicious! However, the young lady who took my to-go order acted as if it was an absolute inconvenience and irritation for her to do so. Having worked in restaurants before, I could kind of understand the attitude if it was minutes before closing time (it was not) or if I had ordered during a mad rush of customers (I had not). So in the end, the rude and snobbish attitude was wholly unacceptable. The food saved the day, however (yay chefs!!) and I will try again.
google avatar

Raquel L.

Yelp
Service was a little slow for it not being very busy but good was great food. The mango drink was my favorite I think I drank it in 5 minutes or less.

Marie H.

Yelp
Food is good, North Indian. The service could've been better. Hands down, this has much better decor and overall authentic l, classy ambience than most Phoenix Metroplex locations.
google avatar

Victor M.

Yelp
Whenever we're in the mood for Indian food, we usually like to go to a buffet so we can try different things. Indian Dheli Palace is one of the best Indian buffets in Phoenix they have an ample selection of both vegan and non vegetarian entries, the chicken curry, and Tikka Masala were delicious I liked the garlic Naan and Tandoori chicken. They keep the buffet replenished, so it's fresh and flavorful and a bargain at $16.95. The restaurant is beautiful, and they even have a market where you can purchase Indian food and spices.
google avatar

Harvey P.

Yelp
We had a great experience eating the food from here. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, shahi paneer, chana masala and the mixed grill. All of the items were delicious and the owners were so sweet. Would definitely recommend going here!

Samantha M.

Yelp
Authentic Indian food. So amazing and fresh! Have been several times and will absolutely be going back several more. The portion sizes are large and the food is truly delicious. The naan is out of this world.
google avatar

Dorene B.

Yelp
We were happy to see that they had a buffet at lunch. Since it was our 1st visit, it allowed us to try a few different dishes. The food is fresh and delicious. The staff was attentive and kind.
google avatar

Saraely O.

Yelp
I used to live by this restaurant and it was always really good. I love getting the fire naan, it adds so much spice to the food!!

Janet L.

Yelp
This is the second time I have tried to order f this business. The first time after waiting 45 min the Uber Eats order was canceled with no information. Then again today I placed and order and watch 3 different Uber drivers attempt to pick it up. Finally the third canceled the order. I called the restaurant and after asking for my name, he said well we never got any order because Uber Eats doesn't send us orders. He told me I just need to ask for a refund from them. He made no suggestion of alternative ordering that might have been working or other suggestion on how to get an order delivered from them. Guess they don't want my business.
google avatar

Abraham A.

Yelp
Great Indian food at a very good price. The garlic naan is to die for and goes absolutely great with any meal they have!
google avatar

Benjamin F.

Yelp
Went for a quick lunch. I was really craving Indian food so decided let give this place a try! When I walked in i stood there for a couple of minutes before anyone acknowledged me. They had a couple of people passing by but then I finally got attention of someone who sat me quickly. Although quick, they didn't say anything just pointed to a table and I sat there for a few minutes so I went ahead and took the initiative to start at the buffet. After I sat down with food I waived someone down for water. The food has good flavor. At first they needed refreshes on the meats but once they refreshed it they were good flavor, not dry chicken also. I almost forgot the naan which is a staple imo and the man was definitely worth it. The buffet was about 18 bucks and had a variety of options including some desserts. I would recommend this place for a quick bite to eat with friends but not a business meal. Perfect to satisfy my craving. The ambiance also was good, had some younger and older groups of people all enjoying the food and good spirits.

Christi C.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant. Have been here twice now and both times have been amazing. Food was delicious especially the chicken dishes. The garlic bread is also a must try. The only thing that I would change is that some of the dishes are a bit cold, but still taste amazing.
google avatar

Talbert H.

Yelp
The food compared to other Indian spots I've been to this is by far the worst. The masala had no seasoning and the chicken was pretty dry and the flavors were all pretty bland. The garlic naan bread was burnt and very tough to chew. Would not recommend
google avatar

Z A.

Yelp
Wonderful Buffett for lunch. They kept refilling and the fresh bread was a wonderful side to lunch. I enjoyed the variety and quality. I really liked that they had a good salad, variety of meat entrees and vegetable entrees and appetizers, then a great desert/fruit selection as well. I do remember that I didn't like the gulap jamón though. Too sweet and not soft and warm as it should be. It was very dense. I stopped at a tiny taste.

Chris A.

Yelp
Nicely decorated restaurant. No other guests eating in during my visit although there was a steady stream of people picking up takeout orders. The food was very good. Service was OK but the servers primary attention was on the takeout customers. I had a lamb vindaloo spiced on their 1-10 scale at 7 which was perfect for my taste. I would strongly recommend this place if you are looking for authentic Indian food.

Sharma P.

Yelp
Was looking for food on Christmas Day, glad they were open. But taste was non existent (not even salt) Ordered: Dal Maharani, Vegetable Vindaloo, Malai Kofta, butter naans, onion kulcha and gobhi paratha. Asked for medium spicy vindaloo but got super spicy dal (chili powder added to it) Asked no butter on for onion kulcha and gobhi paratha came with butter. The person who was taking the order was not writing it and because of that we had to wait longer to get what we wanted. Ambiance was nice, clean place.
google avatar

Davidm A.

Yelp
My wife and I come her pretty often. They always have the best buffet and very clean. Very great service and I'll tell you great music ( even though I can't understand it). This buffet is a little more pricey them others that I have been too. But it's the most tasty to my opinion. Always have everything labeled and always keep my water filled. Usually with buffet there is so much running around the service gets a little thin. Not here! Plus seems like there food is never ending even with all the foot traffic they get. Never have tried them outside buffet hours probly won't to be honest. Give it a go... just prepare to leave feeling full and tired cause it does it to me everytime!
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
This place has always been amazing! The whole restaurant smells amazing as soon as you walk in. The lunch buffet is fabulous!

Rana M.

Yelp
Food was very poor quality barely any variety. Service was ok. Definitely never going back again.
google avatar

R B.

Yelp
Popped in for lunch buffet today, I haven't been in for a while, and once again it was SUCH a culinary delight! So glad to see onion bhaji was in full supply, and the orange-colored sauced dish (forgot the name but it's always there) is my fave over the rice. I tend to get a little of several things, it can't be helped! TODAY though, I tried a dish that I've never had or seen, and it tasted so beautiful that my soul sighed with joy --- Goa fish curry! The garlic naan is also very special to me now. MAJOR flavor on the garlic naan and ALL the dishes. I didn't see dark chutney this time, unless I missed it. Water is served without ice, better for the stomach! Not a giant variety of items, but the basics were there and all were quality and delicious! Rotating items, it's not the same every time except for (what Iv'e noticed) spinach, daal, chicken curry, tandoori chicken, tikka masala and a chick pea dish. Lunch with tax comes to $17 and change total before tip. Top marks all around, THIS is the best in Phoenix!
google avatar

Jacob R.

Yelp
Food was amazing : Chicken Korma especially. Highly recommended, I will come here again
google avatar

Padma S.

Yelp
Don't bother going here for the buffet, or if you have taste. The food is sooo below average of any Indian restaurant ... flavorless and tastes re-microwaved. If you're ordering a la carte, there is not a single paneer curry, except fried paneer appetizers. Who makes saag without paneer and without onion?! I have no words except to tell you to look elsewhere.

Amit U.

Yelp
Too spicy despite we asked for medium. Tips are assumed to be at 20% min which is wrong these days at most restaurants.
google avatar

Danielle R.

Yelp
Came here for dinner one night and it was also recommended by a co worker. Got some veggie samosas to start and they were very full, flavorful, and fries perfectly. The garlic naan was a smaller portion that I'm used to receiving but it was tasty. It had far too much ghee though. The main dishes were tasty and flavorful. I liked the lamb better than the red curry dish. I would definitely come back and try a few different entrees. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The inside of the restaurant is very well decorated and it seems there is a cool event space on the second floor.
google avatar

Irma J.

Yelp
Very attentive.and welcoming staff. They answer my questions in regards to what was what
