My wife and I eat here pretty often. The price is a little on the higher side and the portions are a bit small on the appetizers/starters but the food is fantastic and the entrees are sizable. The ambience in the restaurant is very nice and they keep the lights low. I recommend eating inside but you definitely won’t miss out if you go with a takeout order.

The food is excellent! The quality of the buffet is wonderful and the variety of vegetarian dishes is enjoyable. The quality of the service has gotten progressively worse over the years. The servers are often standoffish, awkward, and/or have poor menu knowledge. The last notable server at the restaurant was Jennifer. She always had wonderful hospitality and made the environment warm and welcoming. Now, the service is cold and the ambiance is hollow. Additionally, if the restaurant is busy, it is best to just leave. The staff crumbles under the stress of a busy service. The hospitality declines to an even lower level and the wait time increases dramatically. Key takeaway: Go for the Tuesday buffet; and skip dinner service. Temper your expectations for the hospitality.

Very flavorful enjoyed the tika masala chicken and the fresh nann was amazing

I had decided to eat dinner at the India Oven after a pretty tough day at work. I was sat and taken care of by Precious. Precious completely changed my day for the better and was the best server I’ve had in all the years that I have been in the panhandle. She was incredibly kind and had genuine warmth and compassion within her that she seemed to share with her customers. Her generosity made such an impact I decided to write my first ever review of a restaurant. Besides the enjoyable food, Precious is the main attraction that ties together an overall significant experience.

We loved the buffet. The food was fresh, the temperature hot and flavors delicious . The selection was varied and the price fair. The naan was excellent, too.

I had the best experience at indian oven. As someone who cannot eat gluten or dairy they took such good care of me and the food was phenomenal! I will definitely be back!

This is the second time we tried here and the buffet was really good. The food was awesome and delicious. May be we need to plan on weekends to see how the menu looks, since we went on Monday and felt not much of variety but definitely worth it. Definitely would recommend this place for others and will be visiting again very soon!

I knew I was going to love dining here as soon as I opened the front door. You could cut the smell of curry with a knife. And if you like curry-themed dishes, well, this is heaven.

As I looked around, I saw a very diverse crowd of diners, of which about 50% were either Indian or from nearby. This is always a good sign when dining in ethnic restaurants. If the folks from the featured cuisine are eating there, then you know it passes muster. I started with a cup of piping hot black tea, which was perfect for the chilly night I visited. I then orders the Madras Vegetables, which as the menu says is “fresh vegetables blended with spices and a touch of curry sauce,” the base of which was coconut milk. A large bowl of steamed rice accompanied my entree. Although I asked for medium heat, I was a little surprised that it hardly registered. It was still delightfully tasty, though, so next time I will turn it up a couple of notches in hopes of getting the full effect. I also ordered a huge round Roti, which is a vegan flatbread, very thin, and perfect for dipping. Serving sizes were perfect…not so much that I needed to do takeaway, but not so little as to be left still hungry. It was a great value, and as with most Indian restaurants, there are many options for vegetarians and vegans, but also plenty of choices for omnivores.

I used to eat there on a regular basis. Last time, I needed to take it to go. The lady (manager?) was very rude to my friend and I. We wanted the buffet, which gives you only on clam shell container, NO aluminum foil for the bread, no small cup for the Raita, nothing. I was forced to order Raita to go. When I got home, I thought it tasted odd, and 2 days later I found out why. The lady must have given me old Raita, because by the second day, the lid was bloating. Way to treat a long time customer, who has followed them to all of the locations, and been a good customer for many many years. I have brought new customers to them in the past, but that is DONE! There ARE other Indian cuisine restaurants in town, I'm sure they will love to earn mine and my friend's business.

Food is amazing, but the last 2 times I've been here I've had to wait an hour for bread, and 15-20 min just to get service. I've called in carry out orders and they'll say 10-15 min and I end up waiting an hour. The other thing is the price. Don't plan on eating here unless 75$ for a dinner for two is acceptable to you. Wonderful potential, but it's getting worse over time and gradually emptier on the inside every time we come here. I want this place to succeed, but I also want my food less than an hour after I order it. ...Well I was going to leave it there, but an Indian family of 7 came in 30 min after me and just got their bread before me. Clearly prioritizing them over me. Honest to god I'm never coming here again.

Greeted quickly at the door and seated immediately. Soft music playing. Clean floors and tables. Bathroom clean and well supplied. We ordered the vegetable samosa chat appetizer and cucumber raita. House salad. Butter chicken masala, chili chicken, tandoori chicken, assorted naan, and Indian coffee. I'm telling you this was a TON OF FOOD with excellent flavors, fresh, inviting aromas, and some great display upon arrival to the table during serving. We have food for snacking later. We will return for another day of delicious enjoyment. Thank you so much for a wonderful meal.

I love the food, the service and the ambiance here. It's like home away from home for me.

We came here for the first time this week. We did the lunch buffet. Everything was very fresh and the flavors were great. They brought out fresh naan to the tables as it was made. We were all disappointed that there wasn't more spice in the dishes. With that being said, I will definitely go back and order a specific dish and ask them to spice it up. The service was fantastic and the decor was very beautiful.

Have eaten at Indian oven many times and order the same thing every time. Today I ordered my usual order (butter chicken) and naan bread. Wondering if they changed their recipe because the food was just bland and had no heat. Needed so much salt to have some flavor to it. The naan bread was so "heavy". Maybe they were just have a bad day in the kitchen but with the price I'm just so disappointed.

They are the nicest people! Very kind and caring. the atmosphere was so nice! I loved the lighting and the music playing. The food was delicious the man was very nice in helping us pick a meal and giving recommendations. The dishware was also super pretty

The restaurant is extremely well maintained very clean and the food is top notch. My favorite Chicken Tika Masala is my go to with onion Naan bread

Food is subpar. Flavor is lacking. One time I ordered an egg biryani and saw that the egg smelled and the yolk was gray. The waitress went to the kitchen and came back with telling me that they said, "how are we supposed to know how old it is, they get the boiled eggs from somewhere else"... so quality is poor. Been to many Indian restaurants and buffets and this one is one of the ones I remember for all the wrong reasons. Locals only know this place so how would they know this isn't good. Gave this place 3 chances, ate the buffet and a la cart. Worse indian restaurant in Amarillo, not exaggerating. Glad there's two other Indian options now.

Our first time having Indian food in Amarillo. Thankful for warm food with the various spices to heal the body. It's been so cold here lately that I'm shocked I'm even in Texas! We ordered food to pick up and take home. This is a must try if you're in town!

Staff is very nice, courteous polite. Ambiance is good. I ordered Chole Bhature, which is special chick pea curry made with onion ginger garlic, little tomato, pomegranate seeds, tamarind, etc served with Julian ginger, onion, lemon wedges, pickle etc. Which was not given to me or offered. When I asked about condiments, I was told I didn't ask, that they don't offer because most Customers are non Indians, they don't know about these condiments, so that is why they don't offer. But that is what makes food authentic. Chole was regular chick pea curry made with tomato paste, was bland. which is not Chole that goes with Bhature .To me not authentic food.

Best Indian food ever, highly recommend. Dude that seated me was a little strange/angry but food was perfect.

Best Goat curry I have had Palek Paneer was awesome. If I lived here I would go here twice a week. Truly delicious Indian food. As my wife and I say, "There are two types of people those who love Indian food and those who havent tried it yet!!" So good!!

What an awesome place! The Indian oven is a gem of a place in Amarillo! So cozy and comfy seats and the while environment takes you out of Texas and transports you into a fun flavor of India. The music, the lighting and design makes you feel like you are in India. The service is also outstanding! So many details I can't even remember them all but the place is a must try if you like you change things up a bit. The have so many naan options and have delicious soups. They also have salad which was a pleasant surprise that wasn't expected from the group I was with. The Tomato Shorba soup is how our meal started, super hot which is exactly what we wanted in the cold weather that was going on outside. One person in my group got veggie tikka masala, the other got Navratan Korma and I got the Chicken Jalfrezi. I totally recommend these dishes if you are not sure which one to try. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and can help you with your menu if you need clarification on what to get or what items would best be to your liking.

The food was pretty good, but the server ruined our experience. This was my first time here and more than likely last. He did not greet our 3-top and then slammed our drinks on the table. We noticed he was friendly with other tables, but for some reason he did not have that same energy with us which we did nothing for him to act that way. By the way, I'm not a Karen, I used to serve tables and bartend so I know the restaurant industry.

You're going to wait. Wait. It's worth it. Get the chicken tikka masala or mushroom tikka masala and make sure to get some extra naan. So delicious.

Delicious food! 5 star food. But I have to mention the amazing service. There was one gentleman serving 6 tables and pick-up orders, and he did a great job taking care of everyone's needs. If I could give 10 stars for service I would!

While driving from Austin to Colorado Springs, made a stop at this indian restaurant to get some spicy chicken biriyani take out. I have lived in Austin, Dallas and San Jose where they claim to have the "best" indian food. The chicken biriyani here beats them all! It's the best indian chicken biriyani I have had in the US. God bless this little piece of gem! Very nice decoration, clean bathrooms as well. Dine in was available. Great decision to make a stop here!

I'm a huge fan of Indian food so I stopped by Indian Oven one evening and had the best meal. It was so delicious that I couldn't wait to come back. Fast forward a few weeks and my boyfriend and I decided to order to-go Indian food for a small dinner party we were having. And since I couldn't stop raving about how good it was we came here. We ordered over $100 worth of food and almost all of it was inedible. We sat and waited for the food so it would be fresh and hot when we got home. The chicken tikka were dry hard rocks of bland chicken, tandoori chicken was the same, dry, hard and cold. Neither of these dishes were fresh! The chicken madras was better but it only had four small pieces of chicken inside. The aloo gobi was fresh but the mixed vegetable korma was watery and bland. No creamy cashews or flavor. And the garlic naan was soggy and tasted like an old mushy pancake. It was sooo disappointing and embarrassing to serve to our guest. We didn't say anything as to not ruin the evening but seriously this restaurant is expensive and for the price we paid and the 40 minute wait, they should have paid attention to detail and made our food fresh! Sad!!!!

This place often takes me back home. Thus, I'm here whenever I miss home. Best things to try out are: Butter Chicken, Mushroom Tikka Masala, kebabs and Bullet naan. They need to thoroughly improve on their biryanis.

The food is good. We've been here plenty of times. Just passed through on a Saturday evening. Took 10 min to get seated when there was no one else waiting for a seat. Got a booth, another 10-15 min to place an order, then (not exaggerating) a 1-hour wait. Never got our food because we left after seeing the group next to us that had just been seated a half hour after us began to get food delivered. I wouldn't even care about the wait, but I do care that not once were we even checked in on. No one bothered to look our way to give us an update.

When you first walk in the aroma is so wonderful it almost makes you faint. I was really hungry but I would have still enjoyed the wonderful meal if I wasn't. As fate would have it I hadn't had anything to eat yet all day except for an apple and a cup of coffee. Dinner prices are higher than lunch of course and I'm trying to keep to a travel budget so I ordered the Daal meal. At first it didn't look like a lot of food but it filled me up. The Daal was delicious, not too spicy at all, in fact I might order it a little more spicy next time because it was almost too mild. At first it looked like they weren't giving me much rice but when I was almost done with what was there, the server came around and asked if I wanted more. I didn't know if they charged for more rice but I went ahead and said yes. It turned out I wasn't charged any extra. It was nice that they make sure you don't run out. The Daal meal came with Naan bread and you are given a choice of regular or garlic. I ordered the garlic and loved it. It's obviously made with real garlic not some powdered sprinkle. I don't usually order drinks because I'm a very slow drinker and rarely finish one and I like to try and keep the cost down by not ordering ordinary things like soda. But I saw that they had the mango lassi on the menu so I ordered it. It was delicious also I couldn't finish it so I got it to go cup to bring it with me and finished it on the road. I enjoyed my meal so much I came back a couple of weeks later for the lunch buffet, $9.99. Wow, it was wonderful. I think they put out a little bit of everything they serve on the menu. I started with a couple spoonfuls of their delicious rice and then just put a spoonful of each item on top of or around that so that I tasted nearly everything there except maybe the salad. It looked good but I was out of room on my plate. There was mostly chicken, vegetarian, and goat meat dishes, rice and naan bread plus some fried bread that I did not taste although it looked good. I don't recall seeing any beef dishes now that I think about it. Doesn't matter. Everything was so good I enjoyed every single bite. I cleaned my plate and didn't waste anything. Then I went back and got a few pieces of fruit including cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew melon, grapes, orange slices and some yogurt sauce to dip them in. I also got a little bit more of the goat meat with some rice, a little more spinach and a touch more chicken in the curry sauce, although I may not getting that description right. Whatever it was it was delicious enough to try fitting a little bit more in my full tummy. I completely forgot about the mango lassi that I got last time or I would have ordered a glass in a to go cup. It would have been a perfect complement to the meal but I wasn't able to finish it last time and had to take the rest to go so I'm sure I couldn't have finished it after that Buffet this time either. I probably won't be in town long enough to double back here for another Buffet but I sure would enjoy it if I could! The restaurant is also very clean and the servers couldn't be more pleasant. They seemed genuinely concerned on both of my visits about whether I was enjoying my meal. I assured them I was!

Fantastic food and service. I moved away a year and a half ago but was the number one spot on my list to eat when visiting. I have also had to start eating vegan since the last time I ate there. Often times when I eat out I only have a couple options but there were at least a dozen options that I could have made vegan. Make sure to check this place out!!!

This is my third meal at Indian Oven and the food has never disappointed. The medium spice level is as high as we could go. #noregrets The vegetarian samosas #3 were savory and amazing. I got my favorite - the Chicken Madras and a friend got Paneer Tikka Masala. Service is attentive and knowledgable of the menu. On weeknights, the kitchen may take a little longer than on a weekend, but it's still worth the wait!

I wish it lived up to the hype. Very friendly service but I didn't find the food particularly special, just average. The fennel in the naan (though HUGE...about the size of a large pizza) was not to my liking at all. The rice kheer dessert was the stand-out item, but was a pretty lame serving size.

Tried the madras vegetable dish ! Absolutely delicious! So excited to come back again and give the rest of the menu a try!

Stopped at Indian Oven in Amarillo, TX hto eat on our way to Santa Fe. Atmosphere did not look inviting but the food more than made up for it. The Naan bread basket is totally fresh & spectacular with the garlic Naan and aloo kulcha being the best. My daughter loved the plain butter Naan. The boneless lamb biryani, butter chicken, saag paneer, malai kofta, raita, mango & sweet lassi, kheer, and Indian coffee were all fresh and excellent. I was a little disappointed in the veg pakora appetizers. They were fresh but too much besan/not enough veggies and not very crispy. Excellent, friendly & fast service and very reasonable prices. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I like the Indian Oven, but the Tandoori chicken has got smaller , the thighs and drum sticks were small Should have used regular size chicken pieces not small wings. . Disappointed The Indian Oven has done better .

Ordered to go chicken vindaloo, saffron rice, garlic naan, and veggie samosa. Everything was packed well. The samosas were wonderful and came with 2 sauces. I ordered the saffron rice as the chicken didn't say if rice was included or not (it is). The saffron rice was just okay and didn't have much taste. The Garlic naan was a little burnt and that ruined the taste for me. The chicken vindaloo was delicious with lots of chicken and excellent, tasty sauce. Would order from here again.

My husband and I were traveling from North Texas to Amarillo. We didn't think we'd find a restaurant that would meet both our vegetarian and gluten-free needs. But low and behold- Indian Oven! The waitstaff seemed a little unknowledgeable about gluten-free options, but were able to navigate the menu pretty well. It helped that there was an entire section devoted to veggie entrees. The food was DELICIOUS and we left full and happy. Side note: The place is decorated with beautiful colored glass and art. It was very welcoming and comfortable.

We were stopping in Amarillo for the night and this was one of the few restaurants that was open late for delivery so we decided to give it a try. The food was really good and a nice break from the fast food we normally get for a long road trip. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it took over an hour for the food to be ready. We ended up eating later than expected but at least the food was nice and hot when it finally arrived. I recommend the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, garlic Naan and saffron rice!

I'm a driver for DoorDash and will never return here. 25mins after the pickup time I revived the customers order. Unprofessional.

This is Amazing Food! I am from Los Angeles and have had my share of Indian food. The flavors here are perfect! Naan was incredibly fresh and lite and the raita was the best I have had. Getting the food took a bit if time but well worth the wait!

Excellent food, excellent service. The buffet is ALWAYS fresh and immaculate. Although the buffet is a little pricy, you can't beat the selection which even includes fresh fruit, naan bread, and dessert. I would eat here every day if I could afford it!

My boyfriend and I have eaten at Indian Oven twice, as we purchased a Groupon. Our first experience wasn't so great we felt as if we were ignored and felt as if the customer service needed improvement. We ordered... INDIAN COFFEE: I am not a coffee person; however, on occasion I do enjoy some coffee. I did not care much for the coffee that day but my boyfriend enjoyed it so much that he wanted another one, he had to ask the waitress twice. $2.50 MADRAS CHICKEN W/ MILD SPICE: (Traditional South Indian chicken curry with coconut milk): I thought it was a tad spicy for my preference however my boyfriend said it was perfect tasting because the spice doesn't over power the dish. $12.95 Lamb Curry w/ mild spice (Lamb meat cooked with special home made spices): I enjoyed this dish however it was too spicy for me. $15.95 BUTTER NAAN: Even though we ordered the Butter naan we received Garlic. The Garlic Naan was delicious, just the right amount of Garlic. $2.95 Our second experience: INDIAN COFFEE: This time I enjoyed the coffee that I ordered in addition to my boyfriend's. $2.50 CHICKEN CURRY W/ MILD SPICE: (Chicken pieces cooked in a traditional onion gravy): I enjoyed it but I can never proportion the rice vs. curry. I took the rest home. $10.95 MADRAS CHICKEN W/ MILD SPICE: (Traditional South Indian chicken curry with coconut milk): This time I didn't try it, my boyfriend ate all of it and told me how delicious it was. $12.95 BUTTER NAAN: After eating the Garlic Naan previously, the butter seemed plain, however, I did like how I was able to dip it in sauce and not have the garlic flavor. $2.95 Comparing the two experiences the second time was much better as we didn't feel ignored & were checked on at appropriate times. In retrospect they have amazing food but their attentiveness to customers is lacking. PROS - plenty of parking - plenty of seating - offering discounts (student, Groupon) - buffet - have vegetarian options CONS - they do not offer their dishes without any spice - leave with aroma attached to clothing http://www.indianovenamarillo.com -- According to their website they do deliver.

This place is great! They have moved to a new, beautiful location. The food was better than the last time I at here (at the old location) because it was warmer and had a little heat/spice. Service is always wonderful and courteous. I would give five stars if there were some more spicy dishes on the buffet. I highly recommend this place for some good Indian food!

I ordered paneer tikka masala and am allergic to meat they gave me meat instead of paneer had very bad experience with them very first time really disappointed

Awesome Ambience. Nice food. High Waiting. We ordered Chole Bhature as we had craving for the same. It was less oily as it is supposed to be. We gulped down everything we received as we were too hungry to critique ;) We waited for 30 mins to get our dish. Not visiting again.

As we travel we try to stop in and enjoy what the local Indian Food has to offer, as there are several styles of cuisine from the Indian continent your never sure what your going to get (it's all good regardless). We arrived at 2:00 (14:00) and they close at 2:30, we were seated and our drink order taken. The buffet was still very well stocked so we went over and filled a plate. The food was fresh, hot and very tasty. The service was great and even brought us some honey to go with the fry bread. Next time we pass through you can bet we'll be having lunch here!

I ate here more than anywhere else in town during my 10 months in Amarillo. I loved the butter chicken and the mushroom dish (mushroom mutter?). My favorite thing was going to the lunch buffet, where I could try small bits of everything and learn new flavors I had not yet before acquainted with, while still getting to enjoy a fresh salad and a small amount of butter chicken. I miss Indian Oven already, and I've only been gone a week!

If you're wanting to experience new culture cuisine then this is a great place to try. With not knowing too much about Indian food, it was a challenge choosing what I wanted, but it was all in all a good experience! I would definitely eat here again.

Delicious Food, hot and fresh. Service was a bit slow, but worth the wait. Enjoyed Butter Chicken, Naan, Samosa. First-time Indian food guests also enjoyed Tandoori Chicken, and Chicken Vindaloo.

1 hour into the restaurant and no sign of food. I don't even care how good the food is gonna be. Zero customer service, no info on when the food will be coming. Disaster

We love Indian food and ate vegetarian. We were traveling through and discovered this gem. I never would have expected to find a place like this in Amarillo! The food was delicious and healthy, and the service was great. It felt like authentic Indian food experience and we appreciated the large assortment of vegetarian options. Vegetarian doesn't mean boring and this place hit the spot! So much more interesting than the alternative of eating pasta at a chain.
