Indian Street Food Company

"Found in Leaside along a packed row of shops on Bayview Avenue, this neighborhood stalwart delivers a tight menu of street food favorites and regional curries from various corners of India. The dining room is wrapped in reclaimed wood panels and colorful murals, and cushy tables with white cloth invite further lingering. Over-ordering is easy, but friendly servers are quick to offer guidance. Deep-fried cauliflower finished in a sweet chili glaze is a kitchen specialty, but savory chaats, arriving lashed in refreshing chutneys, are worth an order. Order the thalis to see the breadth of this kitchen’s talent in one large, oversized platter featuring delicately spiced lamb curry, rich dhal makhani and a superb south Indian vegetable curry." - Michelin Inspector

I’ve been here 3 times as I live around the area and I must say it never disappoint. Eggplant fries was alright but the rest of the food is just so delicious! The atmosphere and service were great ⭐️

Google
Outstanding Indian restaurant in Leaside! Totally deserving of their Michelin Bib Gourmand status. The food, service, and ambiance were all top notch. We tried the Roadside Chaat, Fish Pakoras, Braised Beef Short Ribs, Paneer Jalfrezi, Basmati Rice and Garlic Naan bread. Incredible flavours in all of our dishes, everything was cooked to perfection. Their cocktails are unique and made with fresh ingredients that paired well with our food. Highly recommend! We will definitely be dining there again soon!

We had lunch at Indian Street Food on Family Day and ordered our favorites. Can't stop coming back! We all loved their appetizer curries, naan bread,etc.-- so flavorful! I was let in by a kind staff a few minutes before it opened as it was a wintry day with strong cold wind blowing. That was awesome customer service! Thanks so much.

Google
I came for the first time with my family on Mother’s Day and we were amazed they have so many fantastic options for a family. The food is absolutely delicious and some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. The staff was very nice and made us feel very welcomed. It is also very clean and has a great interior design. Most definitely recommend!!!!

Google
We tried this restaurant for first time and we loved it! The food was amazingly delicious and flavourful. They have variety of different dishes and naans. We also orders mango lassi which was very tasty. Good customer service and nice and cozy place. Will definitely go there again.

My friend and I came to this restaurant for the first time. We wanted to order from the Winter special menu, which we didn’t realize was not available on Fridays. The server made a special exception for us and let us order the Winter Special. We really appreciated the accommodation. The food was great and lots leftover to take home!

Google
We ordered rice, naan, an appetizer and 3 main dishes. This was for two. All this food and we were not satisfied. Eggplant fries was extremely salty. It was inedible. Rice and naan were good. The main dishes were ok. Each main dish ( chicken, prawn and lamb) had only 5-7 pieces of protein. The containers were filled with sauce. A week later we still have all this sauce left. Definitely not worth $30-40. I would not recommend the lamb. Meat was very very dry and sauce was the worse of the three. Another review indicated that naan accompanied their main dishes. This was not the case for us. We purchased ours.

Google
Went here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had an amazing time! The vibes were great, our server was super attentive and gave awesome recommendations. The lamb was incredibly tender, and the butter chicken was honestly the best I’ve had in Toronto. Loved their cocktail selection too. Can’t wait to come back!

Yelp
Pretty good food. The Mirchi Laccha Parantha and Mango Rasmalai was fantastic! Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani were good but nothing extraordinary. Not sure what makes them Michelin worthy over any other good Indian restaurant in Toronto, but good for them to get the recognition.

Yelp
Excellent food. Fresh. Tasty. Spicy. Authentic well made. Each Dish was perfectly cooked and seasoned.

Yelp
Found this place in the Michelin guide and had to give it a try. The menu had a lot of Indian staples. We tried the pav bhaji which was so flavorful and filling! The pickled onions on top was *chefs kiss*. We also tried the non-veg thali. There were a decent number of options for the price and was very satisfying! So glad we came here, and in a food coma now!

Yelp
I am honestly surprised this place does not have a higher rating, I was blown away by the whole experience. Starting with an 'amuse bouche" of spicy tomato soup. we tried the eggplant fries (perfectly crispy on the outside and molten on the inside); the samosa (lots going on but all worked in harmony). I like to try my favorites when trying out a new place, so butter chicken, gohbi aloo and potato kofta mappas. All awesome but with naan and rice way too much food (but leftovers are a bonus!) While it doesnt really affect to food, I really enjoyed the murals and decor - great ambiance

Yelp
I'd rate 3.5 to be precise. My husband and I tried their summerlicious menu for lunch. We had chicken tikka and deep fried prawn for starter, lamb curry and paneer tomato curry for main and rice pudding and cheese cake for dessert. The portion was on a smaller side which was ok for me as I'm not a big eater but maybe too small for men. Although each dish had a nice Indian flavour and was decent, it was probably not worth the price of $100 (including tips, GST and 2 mango Lassi). Our server was pleasant but service was a bit slow.

Yelp
On Friday, November 27, my son and I ordered a few dishes. I ordered chicken vindaloo, a dish which I like and had in many places before. I was shocked when this highly recommended restaurant served a vindaloo sauce, which was made literally from a barbecue sauce plus some indian spices. I'm not sure what to make of it, but they are definitely fooling people. I gave it one star, but for that foolishness, it deserves zero. The owners did not respond to my challenge. if the chef can remake the same sauce from scratch exactly like it was served to me and my son, I will retract my review, apologize, and pay for the dish.

Yelp
We went for lunch on Friday. Two of us had tasty curries with naan and rice. I would recommend the samosas which were presented nicely with sauce and not steamy spicy (I can't really handle spicy). Service was fine. One star taken off as they could have filled our little pots of curry a little higher considering the price. I was told that reservations have jumped since they made the Michelin bib gourmand list so probably best to call just in case for dinner time. You'll probably be ok for weekday lunch without a reservation.

Yelp
Started with deep fried eggplant fries. Will never look at eggplant the same way. Superb, light and crispy and packed with flavor. Good size for sharing. They gave us the recipe claiming the fries are "easy to make" but far better to just come back Indian Street Food. The Kerala style banana leaf wrapped fish was better than anything I ate in Kerala...apparently the chef is from there so perhaps that makes some sense. The kale palek paneer was delicious and a nice twist on a classic dish. Garlic naan and coconut rice rounded out our meal and were perfectly prepared. Despite the name this is a more upscale restaurant from a price point of view but well worth it. While we ate outside the interior is tastefully decorated and with tables appropriately spaced. Oh and the Rebellion whisky, brandy , ghee cocktail was outrageous. The great service and fantastic food and drink made for a memorable meal. Plan on trying one of their tasting menus on our next visit.

Yelp
Delicious. I got the naan and butter chicken. Staff was so kind and answered all my questions.

Yelp
fresh ingredients, well made and very delicious. The service is excellent. I found the pakoras a bit heavy, but everything else i ate was great. I'd especially recommend the mountain goat masala and the mango prawn curry, but really everything is good.

Yelp
I'm no expert but I thought the food here tasted really good. For 3 people, we ordered the Veg Samosa Chaat (not actually a triangle shaped pastry with stuff inside like I was expecting but oh so very good) the Chorr Bazaar ka Tikka (chicken and other things, some may find this dish super spicy), Aloo Ghobi (a tasty cauliflower dish), the beef short ribs (so tender), coconut rice and Naan (very fresh, just out of the oven). For those who want spice, you'll probably be disappointed with everything we ordered other than the chicken tikka. For our family, it was just the right amount of spice. Unlike others, we found the service very good (later in the evening, crowd was thinning out). We didn't know what most of the things on the menu were, and the hostess spent a fair amount of time explaining things, answering questions and making recommendations. Very helpful. No idea about pricing compared to other Indian restos but comparable to other offerings on the Bayview scene. I'm glad I tried it and we'll for sure go back. PS... the no tipping policy is no more -- they now take a more conventional approach to tipping. I kind of liked the non-conventional approach but apparently not everyone agreed so the owner decided not to do it anymore.

Yelp
We all loved everything we ordered. From the daal and saag panneer to the samosa's and chard chat. fantastic. thank you

Yelp
Thank you for a great meal and fantastic service. I'd been here awhile ago when I had no food restrictions and enjoyed the Tasting Menu. I returned this time with a dairy allergy and had planned to probably just order the eggplant bharta since I knew it was likely a dairy free choice. My friends all ordered the tasting menu. When the waiter got to me, I started to say that I don't eat dairy but he told me not to worry, and that they would take care of me. He said I could have the Tasting Menu as well if I wanted! I immediately ditched my plan to order the eggplant bharta dish. The meal started with the lasooni cauliflower without the yogurt garnish (amazingly yummy!) and next were the black pepper prawns. Next they brought out the chicken tikka in a separate dish for me without the sauce. I didn't miss the sauce at all -- it was seasoned to perfection, juicy and so delicious! Then, the Thali... They made a chicken tomato curry and Rogan Josh without dairy for me. They were my two favourite things on the plate -- still very saucy and packed with flavour. The Thali also came with eggplant bharta, daal makhani, rice, a special dairy-free bread in place of the traditional na'an and some other delicious crunchy bites. I couldn't have the yogurt and dessert like my friends but that was okay :) I really enjoyed the meal and it was very nice of them to welcome the customization. I really appreciated it and will surely return knowing that my choices are not very limited :)

Yelp
The ambiance at Indian Street Food and Company was disappointing. The restaurant was incredibly loud, despite the absence of any music. The limited space was overcrowded, making it difficult to have a conversation. Upon entering the establishment, I found it to be alright, although a bit crowded. It seemed manageable at first. Unfortunately, the service at Indian Street Food and Company was terrible. I encountered an issue with the food, as I discovered a hair in one of the dishes. When I brought it to the attention of the server, their response was highly unprofessional. They implied that I had placed the hair in the food myself, despite the obvious mismatch in hair color. Neither the staff nor the owner offered any apologies for the inedible food. I ordered several dishes, including the goat vindaloo, chana masala, pav bhaji (which had a hair in it), cod curry, chicken 65 (with overcooked and tough chicken), peas rice (containing small stones), and naan. The presentation of the dishes was unremarkable, and the taste was overshadowed by the presence of inedible substances. Unfortunately, the only standout aspect of the food at Indian Street Food and Company was the abundance of inedible substances found in the dishes. The overall value for the price paid was extremely poor. The experience was far from satisfactory, and the quality of the food did not justify the cost. I would not recommend Indian Street Food and Company to others. It would be wiser to explore other restaurants with similar ratings but better quality and service. Instead, I suggest supporting local Indian businesses like Karaikudi Chettinad Indian Restaurant, where you are likely to find superior food and a more respectful environment. PS: I was about to take the picture of the hair when the server hurriedly took the plate away. So unfortunately no pictures.

Yelp
One of my biggest pet peeves in the restaurant industry is this trend of under-explaining everything on a menu, which is certainly true of Indian Street Food Company's menu. It's chock full of seemingly authentic Indian dishes, and it's almost impossible to discern what exactly you're ordering. (Our virtually non-existent waiter certainly didn't help clarify things.) I noticed, at least, that there was a lunch special on offer, so I figured that would be a good way to try several items. I ordered the Royal Thali (Chicken): 4 oz of curry from the curry section + appetizer + 2 vegetables + dal + raita + salad + papadum + pickles. It's a *lot* of food. (I guess I should've expected more food than I could handle, given the steep $20 price tag.) Though I'm still not entirely sure what I ate, it was all very tasty. The curry was a butter chicken and it was certainly one of the better variations on that venerable dish I've had in a while. I guess my only real complaint would be the pronounced lack of spice in all the items on the platter. (I also could've used more rice and naan than I received.)

Yelp
I love the concept of Indian Street Food Company. This place was buzzing with energy when we visited on a Saturday evening. So much noises, so hectic and just feel like I was in the street in Bombay. The restaurant was fully booked. When I arrived at 6 pm for my reservation, our tables was not ready and in fact they were setting up more 2 table of 2 in the middle of the aisle. Maybe it was my fault that my date was late, the wait staff kept asking if I was OK and if I was ready to order. Service here definitely was fast and prompt. We ordered a few item to share: Lasooni Cauliflower ($11.90) - interesting taste and texture but a little pricey! Rajasthani Laal Mass ($15.50) - we enjoyed that Kerala Chilli Beef ($15.20) - dried and tough beef jerky Basmati Rice ($3.50) The restaurant was quite loud and it did not help when my table was right next to a new born that was crying and whining non-stop for 45 minute while the mother was standing right by our table trying to comfort the baby. 13% Admin Fee = No Tipping Please I would not say this is authentic Indian food but I did enjoy their playful approach and a little twist here and there. Will I be back? Maybe.... The menu is interesting enough for a repeat visit.

Yelp
It's a bit on the higher end for prices as others have said. But the food is good quality. I can only speak to the vegetarian items. Been here a few times and the service is always good. I've tried: Lasooni cauliflower - a nice app Baingan fries - also good Kale and spinach curry. Good flavour and a touch of spice Eggplant Bharta - really nice with a touch of smok Dal makhani - also good. Probably tried other dishes but can't remember!

Yelp
Tried this place out for a Summerlicious lunch with some friends. It's a relatively small space, but I really like what they've done with it -- the decor is quite lovely! We got complementary little shots of fresh watermelon juice, which was a nice surprise to start the meal. The food, which is standard Indian fare, was pretty good. I ordered the Chicken 65, the Lamb Biryani, and the Gulab Jamun. All the dishes stayed pretty close to their traditional preparation; they're certainly not trying to reinvent the wheel at this place. I thought the lamb was a tad dry, but otherwise no complaints. Portions are sizeable. Service was alright -- cordial enough, but a little stilted. I was a little unimpressed with our server being loath to make an accommodation requested by one of our group members. She asked that the ice cream that came with her dessert be served on the side, rather than atop it. In my view that's not an unreasonable request. The server's response was "our kitchen is pretty busy right now and might not be able to do that" (this was around 2:15 and the place was half empty) and "I think that's how it is served anyway" (it wasn't). I got the sense that he just didn't want to deal with this. Some more attentiveness here would have been appreciated.

Yelp
The naan tastes like plain dough. The daal makhani is basic: lentils in butter chicken sauce. Terrible - will not recommend.

Yelp
I wanted to have Indian Street Food and went to this restaurant because the name is "Indian Street Food". While ordering street food from a restaurant which has the same name, I was told by the waiting staff that if I am just ordering "Street Food" that qualifies as an appetizer and this restaurant does not serve appetizers only as it is a "Fine Dining" restaurant. This was the first time I was told this at a restaurant and I find the comment quite absurd especially because "Street Food" is in their name. Not sure why they would refuse to serve a customer for ordering food from their menu. I guess I wasn't "white enough" because all the other patrons were white. I am usually a returning customer if I like food and service. I would have returned with my friends and family if I was served today. It's a loss for them. As for me, there are tens of "fine dining" restaurants, It took me 5 minutes to find the next one, never returning here again. Too bad for them. As for people reading this review - There are many other "fine dining" South Asian restaurants like Premium Sweets, Chawrasta, etc - who treat their customers with respect and have a much wider selection of menus. Spend your money there. As for the owner, if you are reading this, I hope you take it as constructive feedback.

Yelp
Unbelievable disappointment. We haven't eaten at Indian Street Food is quite some time. We wanted to treat ourselves to a nice meal. What's shocking waste of our hard earned money. I order the Samosa & Pakora platter, the Butter chicken, garlic naan & rice. The Samosa & Pakora were dried out & overcooked. The spices were not well blended and overwhelmed the taste. The naan bread was heavy and not light & airy. The butter chicken did not have the sophisticated spice blend which I've come to expect. The rice was fine. I have not eaten such a poorly cooked meal, in years. Very disappointed. The standards of Indian Street Food declined dramatically. Instead I highly recommend Lageez Authentic Indian Cuisine. Family owned & prepared. Truly superb.

Yelp
Fraud and cheaters! High price and low food quality. Bad customer service!!! Unbelievable, shocked, first time ordered but they messed up!

Yelp
Sketchy, slow service, decent food, exceptionally high prices. I wouldn't go back. We waited 20 min after being seated for a reserved table to finally see our waiter (only after the hostess asked if we needed anything-like, uh, food?) The service was incredibly slow. Booked online for the "retox detox" tasting menu - 15 courses for $39pp. Well, no one had ever heard of it. Hostess told us that was for winterlicious. And then I showed her their website, so she said it hasn't started yet (the website said it had started on Feb. 15, 2017.) She sent the waiter over, finally. He then coerced us into the 5 course tasting menu which was only $8 more (turns out that one's $60pp). Highway robbery! We had some tasty eggplant fries, some sort of buffalo cauliflower, 1 burnt-black shrimp each, 1 lamb chop each, 1 chicken nugget-sized piece of tandoori chicken each and finally a huge plate of curries and rice. The food was all good (except for the shrimp), no doubt. So I guess the real issue is we went for a meal which seemed to good too be true - and was.

Prav D.

Yelp
Food tastes good enough thus a couple of stars. Over priced. Better food for better prices on Gerard St. Too bad the host/waitress is so unfriendly and makes customers feel unwelcome. Sure you got noticed by Michelin but drop the attitude if you want tips and repeat customers. Won't be going back. Prefer places where staff is friendly and welcoming to customers rather than cold and off-putting. Poor attitude of staff makes for an unpleasant experience.

Yelp
Love their Butter Chicken and the way the Pav Bhaaji looks and tastes.. the price is on the higher side but i think the food is worth it

Yelp
On my most recent trip to Toronto, my girlfriend and I ordered a few dishes from Indian Street Food Company through skipthedishes. I had visited this establishment with my family a few years ago and I was pleased to see that their quality of food has not dwindled at all. We ordered the Lasooni Cauliflower, Butter Chicken, and Chicken Vindaloo. All of it was delicious with the winner being the Butter Chicken. The last time I visited I had Beef Vindaloo which was considerably spicier than the chicken dish we had this time. I was a bit disappointed about that but some people probably complained of the level of spice in the previous dish. All good though because the flavor was still there. I'd definitely give this place another go the next time I'm in Toronto.

Yelp
We tried the beef short ribs, coconut rice, chilli garlic naan, lasooni cauliflower and aloo matar gobhi (potato, cauliflower and peas). Everything was super flavourful and delicious ! Everything we tried was very kindly recommended by the woman taking our orders, and she did not disappoint ! Highly recommend and would definitely come back !

Yelp
Been wanting to come here since I first heard about it. I was surprised to have it listed as a $$$$ restaurant, I don't think it is (edit 4/25: looks like this may have been updated). I could see how if you opted for the Prix fix menu, but ordering a la carte I found just as good. So we had to try the baigan fries (eggplant fritters), that was really good and bigger than expected. What was even better though is the Lasooni cauliflower (sauced up cauliflower). Imagine sweet and sour chicken saucing up the cauliflower. It was the star I felt. Then we had the butter chicken, now we read somewhere this is the best butter chicken in the city. I'd have to eat side by side or on multiple days to tell, but I can say it did taste very good. Had an interesting tang to it. Also had the grilled okra sindhi kadhi, a different take and flavor profile, I think it takes a couple tastes to appreciate it. One thing I'd say it's if I knew the size of the appetizers, we'd only order one. Two was a bit excessive, even though the server's say it's not enough. A few wishes - thali for dinner, and not just veggie - smaller appetizer portions with smaller prices - let me know more often that tip IS included. NOTE to everyone, tip is included though you would not have guessed when credit machine asks you for tip With all that said, food tasted great and subject was attentive.

Yelp
Lousy good. Not worth what you spend. They just hv appealing names but no taste or quality food worth what you spend. Never go there.

Yelp
The food is amazing, but prices are a bit high but worth it\. The chicken tikka is simply to die for...the Biriyani was good and so was the ambience, just a bit cramped. I would definitely eat here again.

Yelp
By far the best Indian meal I have tasted! From the small dishes to the entree to the desert, it all makes you want to come back for more. Excellent service and I was particularly impressed by the decor and ambience. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This was a nice date night out. Quiet, colourful atmosphere. Cocktail and drink menu was interesting. We tried the Murabba Mule (gingery) and mango lassi (good to counter spice). We ordered Fish Pakora (lemony and delicious with green yogurt dip) and Chilli Beef (delicious but too spicy for me) to start. We had fresh-out-of-the-oven plain and garlic naan, the best I've had. Butter chicken was great and not too spicy, but nothing special. Lamb roganjosh was juicy, tender and outstanding, would go well with red wine. From start to finish, customer service was great. Booked online, then received a follow up phone call to confirm the reservation. Hostess and waiters checked in at appropriate intervals during our meal to see how we were doing and offered to switch something if we didn't like it. Hard to find parking in the area. Otherwise, we had a pleasant evening and would come back again on a special occasion.

Yelp
Upon entering ISFC, we were greeted with an eclectic and vibrant entwinement of tradition and modern Indian decor. There was a traditional food cart, hanging puppets, an assortment of photos and murals that blended beautifully together. Loved the vibe! On to the food! A combination of hits and misses with generally more hits than the latter. For starters we had an almond crusted Aloo Tiki which was one of our highlights. The perfect balance of tanginess from the tamarind and combination of spices with the crunchiness of the potato cake and noodles off set with fresh herbs and chutney was delicious! The next item was the seafood bhel. This was like an Indian ceviche and was lackluster due to the meek and waterdowned flavours. The last thing we got was the luxury fish thali which came with an assortment of curries. Ours came with butter chicken, daal makhani, Kerala fish curry and saag paneer. Pickles, raita, papadums, rice and naan came with the thali. Good item to order to get more variety. We ordered an extra garlic naan which was truly buttery (or ghee-y) goodness :) Overall we had a good meal but sad to say we were the only table for the entire Saturday lunch period. Hope with time ISFC can can attract more customers. Looking forward to when their "high-tea" becomes available!

Yelp
Came here for an afternoon snack, thinking we would get Indian street food as the resto name suggested, but the menu was sadly lacking variety. 2 types of chaat and one kathi roll does not a street-food menu make. Docked 2 stars for the false advertising. You can find thalis and full meals on their menu, which is probably great for those wanting a regular Indian meal, rather than Indian street food. When serving street food, chai is a must-have yet it didn't feature on their menu. Thankfully, when I asked whether they served it, they answered in the affirmative. We got the regular chaat dish and the chicken roll. Chaat was decent but could have used more crunch. Chicken roll was deconstructed, with the roti broken up and mixed in with the chicken and cabbage. Service was attrociously slow, despite there being only one other set of patrons when we arrived. Docked another point for that. Overall, Indian Street Food is trying to do everything rather than focusing on what its name suggests and knocking it out of the park with their food offering. I probably won't return for chaat/street food.

Yelp
Love this place! Been here 3 times now. Here is what I have tried and it's delicious. Aloo tiki chaat Samosa chaat Chor bazaar ka tikka (chicken tikka ) Kolhapuri chicken salad Dal makhani Chilli garlic naan Masala tea Creamy vanilla kulfi Pistachio kulfi The ambience is nice and comfortable. They usually have a differnt welcome drink which i think is seasonal and is complimentary plus also yummy. Now about the food - Very high quality food, well presented and delightfully tasty. Their meat dishes are well cooked and sumptuous. Their menu changes quite often and is seasonal. So there is a new surprise each time you visit. Strictly advise you to make reservations ahead and they are usually very busy.

Yelp
Food is great, I really enjoyed their kothu roti, banana leaf roasted fish and mustard chicken. Not at all greasy, very flavorful! Would definitely go back. Only reason this received 4 instead of 5 stars is the service. Some servers were very friendly while others were less so. Also the no tip rule has been changed since they are no longer charging the admin/service fee.

Yelp
My partner and I went here for Valentines Day dinner and was presented a pre fix menu ($69 ea) and was told we could not order off the regular menu. Made our selections (limited choices) and ordered a bottle of wine which sells for $19.95 at the LCBO but was charged $61... and were told we could not take what was left in the bottle home... like most other restaurants are allowing now. Food came, very small portions and it was just okay quality. As we were finishing another couple sat down beside us and requested the regular menu which they were given without question. Total of our bill with tax and tip $260! Mediocre at best dinner and dining experience. We will never go back.

Yelp
Came here with family. It's relatively small restaurant with a pleasant environment. It is designed to be more tapas style or sharing so that you can try a little bit of everything. The quality of food is quite good but the place I feel is overpriced for what it does offer relative to other high end Indian restaurants. What is unique about this place is that there is no tipping (unless you insist). It is a departure from typical Indian food so if you want to try something different this is a nice option. The mango cheesecake is quite good as dessert and so is the samosa chat.

Yelp
We previously ordered quite frequently from the Indian Street Food on Bayview but latterly had a couple of not so great meals. I spoke to the manager to provide feedback and was pleasantly surprised with the excellent customer service. An explanation was provided for the poor meal and we were sent a complimentary dinner. I have to say my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken vindaloo, butter chicken with garlic nan bread and vegetable biryani rice. We would be happy to order from this restaurant again, and it's always very much appreciated when constructive criticism is received graciously.

Yelp
Had the lamb chops, chicken tikka and paneer tikka. The food was decently tasty but didn't taste like it had been marinated for hours as it should be. A bit overpriced than normal Indian places as it seems to be catered towards non Indian people. I would've given this place a 4 but the service didn't meet my standard. As we finished our food, our plates weren't cleared, weren't asked how we were doing or how we found the food just given our bill when we asked for it.

Yelp
This restaurant did not at all meet expectations. Food was average, with a select few exceptions (lasooni cauliflower, samosa chaat). Some frustrating things were; pani puri was not available the day that we came, and many items could not be made vegetarian (aloo tiki and bhel). For an Indian street food place, it is quite disappointing to not be able to eat basic street foods like above. We had the following items: lasooni cauliflower (4/5- tasty but quite greasy), samosa chaat (5/5- the only thing I would come back for), signature chaat (2/5 - super sour), pav bhaji fondue (3/5 - average, not enough bread), bhangain fries (2/5 - so greasy and blah), stew veg pattice (4/5 - different, interesting taste). Also the other thing that frustrated me - vada pav is $9! That literally cost 50 cents or less to make. I love vada pav, but was so turned off by that. Also, prices like that indicate a very high quality of food. The food here (unlike high end places) was dished out in the matter of minutes, clearly not made to order. If customers are paying these prices for "street food", they should at least get a higher end experience. What was the worst part of the experience however was the initial service. We had two waiters, and the first one was a jerk. He was trying to rush us, and force us to order everything at one time. Very unprofessional and arrogant. The second waiter (sikh young man) was charming however, so I guess the service is hit or miss. To end it on a less bitter note, the welcome drink was delicious and a nice touch. Overall, will likely not come back unless to take the samosa chaat to go.

Yelp
Personally I was really unimpressed. I went with a large group and we all had mixed reviews. One person loved his butter chicken. The food overall was ok. The menu was a little weird and not that extensive. The waitress tried hard to explain 'how it worked' but was very annoying and just made us all more confused. I have been to India numerous times and really none of this food is anything you'd actually get on the street. No samosa, no dosa, no proper chaat, no pani puri, etc. the name is incorrect. I'm not sure why this restaurant has had good reviews. I won't return.

Yelp
Hands down the best Indian restaurant in Toronto that I have been too. The food is great, the ambience is amazing and the customer service is delightful. Their menu is very innovative and tickles your taste buds the right way. Their have a very pleasant wait staff. They are very busy, so please make a reservation before heading over. Bon Appetite !

Yelp
One word: DELIGHTFUL. Rarely do I find take out or restaurant food, for that matter, to be worth it. Well, this place is definitely an exception. Very well made food, tasty, not oily, great portions for the price and different than the norm: how often can you say you had kale with paneer...? Yeah exactly! If you like non bland food with a twist without eating a vat of oil, this is your place. You are welcome ;)

Yelp
I really enjoyed my time at Indian Street Food - everything was spot on! My husband and I went out with my uncle and aunt (who by the way was interviewed on the news about this place) as they love it here too. We arrived first and upon walking in, the décor is definitely modern and kitschy, exactly the type of feel that will match with the food. We were seated and one person offered to take our coats. No sooner, we were provided with a little snack of tomato soup and bread to whet our appetite. When my aunt and uncle arrived, that's when things got really exciting! We did get to meet Hemant and he was very pleasant. For those of you not in the know yet, this restaurant has done away with tipping which means everyone working in the restaurant gets a fair share. I have to say, love the idea and certainly our waiters were amazing! But the food...oh the food! Forget about getting your usual heavy, saucy curries that taste the same as every other dish. Each plate at Indian Street Food has their own distinctive flavour and can stand on their own. MUST ORDER: Beef Short ribs - TENDER TENDER! We loved this so much we got two plates Eggplant Fries - Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside...one can forget its eggplants The Costal Prawn Curry was delish Lasooni Cauliflower Mushroom Okra Upma (THIS WAS MY FAVE DISH! SOOO YUMMY!) Grilled Okra Vegi Thali Eggplant Barta Naan Rice Oh my - just writing out all the dishes is making my stomach growl! The food was so delish (it bears repeating again) and paired with a good white (we had two bottles of a Gewürztraminer) the evening went splendidly. I would highly recommend Indian Street Food and can't wait to go back. It's also a great place to bring out of town guests or people who want to try something different. Please go and try! You won't be disappointed. This place fills up very fast so resos are a definite must!

Yelp
We first found these guys at a food event in the Aga Khan Museum a couple of years ago, and they had not opened this place yet. I remember thinking to myself.....Self? This food is AWESOME. Find them when they open.....Well, it took us a couple of years but we finally ate here and how fabulous. Just fabulous. From the funny sign at the door (see photos), to the SO unique cocktails (reasonably priced, too), to the wine list, to the actual food, which was PERFECT. Perfectly spiced but not overpowering. Perfectly but not TOO rich. Unique. This is just a great place, from the service to the food to the ambience. Loved it.

Yelp
The best Indian food spot in the Leaside if not in the whole Toronto. Butter chicken, eggplant fries, samosas and chili garlic naan are my go-to meals. I order in at least once a week for the past year and the delivery is always efficient. The delivered food is just as yummy&fresh as if I'd have it in the restaurant. They have quite a few vegetarian options as well. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Amazing orgasmic food ! Super cool twist on Indian food; excellent ambience and service
