WARNING: I am totally bias to anything that has to do with Indiana Jones, so this review is COMPLETELY one-sided!!!!
THE SCENE
We all wanted to be someone when were running around pretending to be one person or another barely out of our diapers. I have always had a fascination for archaeology ever since I discovered the history of the city of Pompeii as a youth. To discover they were unearthing complete bodies that were not completely destroyed by lava was fascinating. Egyptian and Mayan pyramids were also of heavy value to my interests, so when I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark for the very first time, I was DEEPLY hooked! I must have annoyed every adult on the planet back then as I used sound effects to crack my imaginary whip everywhere I went. Grocery store, beach, church, you name it and I whipped it!
I have such a love for the Raiders of the Lost Arc franchise that it transferred to my youngest son. Between the ages of 3 and 10 he insisted on playing outside in his boots, leather vest and fedora. Oddly this made me more proud than embarrassed as often we swung over dangerous lava-filled sidewalks with my imaginary whip! So without question the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular was top priority during our Hollywood Studios visit.
THE EXPERIENCE
I won't try to describe the show, but in my opinion it was very entertaining, especially if you can get lucky enough to become part of the cast in their audience participation selection. They were only looking for younger people (so I was overlooked), but I raised my hand and jumped up and down like Horeshack from Welcome Back Kotter trying to get noticed. Had I been chosen, I'm pretty certain I would have ran down to the stage or airlifted in epic Price Is Right fashion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEYhAaOTBFs
What I truly like about the show is they don't hide the fact that it's not real, and yet they try to make it realistic for the audience. The purpose of the show it to give kind of a behind the scenes view of the making of such Hollywood films. However, the best part of this visit for me was getting to take pics with the cast after the show. You can believe those photo's are going in our family yearbook and just might make the front cover (which in our house takes top honors, like a Sports Illustrated cover)!!!
FINAL THOUGHTS
I wanted to be Indiana Jones as a kid and still do as an adult. He speaks to my adventurous nature as well as my love of history, travel, off the beaten path excursions and archaeology. So yes, I am bias when I say this is the best show in all of Disney! Truth be told, most of the shows and attractions at Disney aren't very exciting for thrill-seeker personalities like mine. Disney is rather subdued, so I personally found this more thrilling than most anything else we experienced on our 4 day/4 park tour. Of course they could use to freshen it up with better scenery and more content, but if they do or they don't I'm happy!
