Bartenders Will Compete to Take Over Indie, Coming Soon to Bravery Chef Hall | Eater Houston

"Set to be one of three bar operators inside the upcoming food hall, this concept will let local bartenders compete Shark Tank–style by pitching Bravery partners Anh Mai, Lian Pham, and Shepard Ross for a rotating slot. Winning teams will be responsible for creating menus, executing a design identity, and bringing their own staff while benefiting from the hall’s structure, facilities, and financial backing. The selection timeline and how often the lineup will rotate have not yet been announced. It is slated to launch this summer in the Aris Tower at 409 Travis St and will join other announced tenants such as MasterChef winner Christine Ha’s The Blind Goat, Chef Ben McPherson’s BOH Pasta, and Nuna Nikkei Bar from Chef David Guerrero." - Alaena Hostetter

I stumbled into Indie’s Coffee Bar & Speakeasy and immediately loved the vibe. It is cozy and inviting, with a creative and slightly vintage feel that makes you want to stay a while. The smell of fresh espresso and pastries hits you as soon as you walk in, and everything feels thoughtfully put together. The treats were great, fresh, soft, and clearly made with care. There are not a lot of hot food options yet, but what they do offer is done really well. I had a coffee that was perfectly made, strong but smooth, with great flavor. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. What really stood out to me was how friendly everyone was. The owner or GM came over to chat, and you could tell he genuinely cares about his guests, his team, and his shop. It felt more like visiting a friend’s place than a typical coffee stop. I have not been in the evening yet, but the speakeasy side sounds like such a fun idea. I will definitely be back to check it out. Whether you are grabbing coffee, a treat, or just need a quiet spot to unwind, Indie’s is the kind of place that makes you glad you found it.

Visiting Galveston for the first time and found this unique coffee shop on Google. Always looking for a cool unique place to give my business to and this gem was exactly as expected from the other posts. When we arrived, I noticed the river across the way and wanted maybe some seating to stroll along but as we left, we noticed there is a space for that down the street. The owners are very kind. The pastries looked amazing but we had just had breakfast so I didn’t have one. Our coffees were perfect. I had the protein peanut butter and it was strong how I like it. Mild and sweetness. My son had the Matcha iced with coconut cold foam which was very sweet as he likes it. Thinking about heading back tomorrow night at 7 PM for live music.

This place is so amazing. The atmosphere is very cozy and I love that it’s veteran owned. The coffee is on another level, it’s definitely made with love. The gentleman who served us made the cold foam from scratch and he was very friendly, he made us feel welcome! The whole experience was very chill and relaxing, exactly how I like to enjoy my morning coffee. I got a pumpkin spice latte with nonfat milk, light ice, with cinnamon cold foam with an extra espresso shot. And it was made exactly how I wanted!! We also got a cinnamon roll and the Oreo cake cup. I’ll be coming here every time I visit Galveston from now on !

The barista was incredibly personable and knowledgeable. Talking to him was like catching up with an old friend. There were so many options it was hard to choose, but I went with the barista’s recommendation to get the coffee (deciding between the matcha and chai) and I’m so glad I did. We even got to see the in house roaster which was so cool. The pastry case was also stocked and hard to choose, but the mushroom flatbread and banana muffin were perfect. Definitely found our new spot, try it for yourself!

Wow... Probably the best coffee around. Atmosphere was on point and so was the vibe, from the decor to the seating. Owner is a solid guy, super nice, and definitely makes his customers feel welcomed. He took time out of his busy day to introduce himself and the beautiful shop. This place is Vet friendly, owned and operated by a vet. Coffee is beyond good, it's absolutely great. Desserts and baked goods were amazing. Live performances Thurs-Sunday during the summer. I highly recommend giving Indie a try. Once you do you will become a regular there. I feel like I definitely got more than my money worth here. Great coffee, great entertainment, and great atmosphere. Can't wait to return. Be sure to check out their Facebook page for the current line-up. They have quite a bit in the works. See ya there.

We were in town for our niece's wedding and saw great reviews. Some of the best coffee we've ever had. My husband's Americano smelled amazing! My latte was delicious and one pump of flavor was just enough added sweetness. Muffins were good too. I thought to get a photo after I started drinking my latte. Owner was very knowledgeable and friendly. I should have bought beans there, as he was actively roasting while we were there, but I've already placed an online order.

It is the “Cheers” of coffee shops. The owners desire to help you feel at home and seen. They give their heart and soul to this business and their customers. Go support them and let them know they are appreciated on the Island. Great coffee and pastries and it’s always fun to try their new flavors. Today’s favorite was the Peach one!

Easily one of our favorite places on the island. Amazing vibes with top tier service. Brandon and Carla are innovative, passionate owners that support their community and get to know their customers at a personal level. Great live music, beautiful art on the walls and comfortable seating. I’m not a coffee drinker, but the wine selection is excellent! My kids do eat all their croissants every time we go but they never seem to mind!
