Award-Winning Detroit Free Press Food Critic Lyndsay Green Earns a James Beard Nomination | Eater Detroit

"Presented in a Top 10 Best New Restaurants profile, this emerging restaurant is led by Josmine Evans, who is described as a griot, a grower and “a damn-good cook.” Coverage emphasizes her role as an emerging chef with strong storytelling and sourcing connections, and the profile was part of a collection of pieces submitted by a critic for a 2024 James Beard media nomination." - Brenna Houck

I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant and the experience was exceptional. The staff was very kind and attentive throughout the entire meal. The dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced, with that distinctive blend of spices that makes Indian cuisine so unique. The service was quick, attentive, and very professional. I also loved the restaurant’s decor and how clean everything is. Without a doubt, it’s a place I would recommend to anyone looking to enjoy something new, authentic, and made with quality and freshness in every ingredient. I will definitely be back. A hidden GEM that’s truly worth visiting!

Tried the Masala Steak Bowl – pretty good! I also ordered the fried chicken with Prem Signature sauce, which was nice, though the sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste. As for the Corn Bhel, I had never had it before, but I looked it up online and it looked amazing – like a corn salad. I was excited because I love corn. But when it arrived, there was no corn at all – just corn flakes! The flavor was actually decent, but again, a bit too sweet. Still, I was disappointed because I was really expecting actual corn. The prices are a bit on the higher side, which makes sense given the location.

had such a great experience at Indigo Kitchen! The customer service was outstanding—everyone was super friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend trying their bowls, which are packed with flavor, and the chata bombs—so good! Don’t leave without trying one of their mango drinks either, they’re refreshing and full of flavor. Definitely a spot I’ll keep coming back to.

Truly amazing Authentic flavor and texture. The aroma and colors of the bowl is perfect! 7 out of 5 stars. Food quality could easily be considered fine dining at it's own location. My wife and I are very excited to experience this culinary artistry again soon!!

First time I went the lady took my order rolled her eyes many times at me- I was rather shocked. There was no reason behind it- the place was empty. I decided to pop in once again waiting for an appointment bc I did enjoy the food- same lady- 12pm. Her and a man refused to look at me, then proceeded to do whatever it was I. The side kitchen w food then kept texting on her phone, waiting about 10 min then looked directly at them are you open??? Man looked at her she said “no” with that same eye roll. I said my phone says you are open. She ignored me. Went to the pizza place- he said they should open. Went back a young white male took my order- asked for the sauce on the side of the nannchos- he said he couldn’t do that unless I was charged more??? I said for sauce in the side??? I said well can you just put the cilantro sauce and the other one? He said sure. Got the order asked for the sauces I asked for on the side he said sorry- I told you there was going to be a up charge for that. I said no, you said you could put the cilantro sauce in the side- he argued a bit that he never said that. At this point I wasted me entire lunch- ridiculous people working for them- I mean the food is good, not that great. That is why they will stay empty unless they fire these employees.

Great Indian restaurant in the commons at Unity Park. Good selection of traditional Indian street food in the snack section of the menu. The bowls consist of a rice base, a protein that includes chicken, paneer, falafel or cauliflower and can be customized with sides and sauces. We ordered the butter chicken bowl, paneer tika and tumeric cauliflower bowls. We also tried the pineapple Lassi and the street style chai. Both really good.

Everything we had was great! We love indian food and Indigo Kitchen did not disappoint. Don’t come for authenticity. Come for the creativity! We tried the Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka, Bangin Samosas and Signature Wings along with Lassis to drink (1 pineapple and 1 mango). I have no complaint or critique. The food feels too good for a food hall but I hope they never leave.

Google
A delicious new Indian inspired spot in our favorite GVL food court. Highly recommend! From a former NYC foodie. Lots of vegetarian options too. The chicken tikka was delicious and generous for the price we paid. The rice was cooked to perfection and the green curry sauce is as good as my favorite Indian spot in NYC. The sauces were just enough spicy for my taste and even mild enough for my 3 yr old. The sweet potato fries had a delicious tomato/cucumber salad on top. A nice blend of sweet and savory. Some of my favorite flavors came from the pickled items on our food, onions, etc. It adds a whole new level of flavor when mixed in. Well done 👍🏻 I’m excited to go back and try some other menu items that weren’t available yet. They just opened this section of the food court so happy to give a little grace. We will be back!

Yelp
Indigo Kitchen is a don't miss for delicious Indian food! My toddler and I were on vacation from Charlotte and had spent several days hanging out at Unity Park. Finally decided to grab dinner before heading home to CLT and man I wish I had tried it earlier, because we would've atleast gotten the Peri Peri fries everyday SO delicious and the family that owns the restaurant were so thoughtful and kind to my son and I. The drinks were a little sweet to me, but I'm mainly a water drinker- I think the size is so generous that it would be perfect to share. We had the (I believe they were bbq sliders- holy moly... as a native Carolinian... WOW they were good and that was as leftovers - because I was so satisfied from the Chana Masala and Peri Peri Fries. The Peri Peri fries, y'all, they knocked these out of the park. Anytime I am in Greenville or even passing through, I will stop and get Peri Peri fries and the bbq sliders... ugh, hungry just thinking about it! Plenty of seating at the Commons or of course make a picnic out of it. Everyone was really friendly and they kept me alert on food time. Food was so fresh and delicious and the mural was beautiful!

Yelp
The young lady at the register that took our order knew the menu front to back, including the ingredients. She did not lie about the portion sizes at all! Wow! My friend ordered wings, fries and naan-chos. She could only eat the six wings. Very filling and all of the ingredients were fresh. I love how they prepare and serve their drinks in a little zip pouch. The sweet potato fries were awesome. They didnt taste like any other fries Ive had. They were crispy and the sauce on top was delightful. I plan to return and try one of their bowls and/or naan rolls.

Yelp
Came here for lunch today. I ordered the butter chicken, it contained little notes of sweet along the flavor journey. The portions were great for the price. I am excited to have this close by to the office now.

Yelp
Prices are high, but the food is absolutely delicious! Service was great. I would come back when I have more money.

Yelp
I'm very excited a new restaurant has opened in the commons and it is so delicious. I had the tikka chicken and peri peri frities and they were amazing. The tikka had a spicy kick to it but wasn't anything too spicy. The commons has plenty of seating but does get pretty busy around lunch on the weekends. It can get a little loud. But over all a great location

Yelp
Very good Indian street food. Good value and right amount of spice and flavor. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Ordered Chicken Tikka and Buttered chicken. The food was very good and authentic Indian taste. It is carry out and the order was ready very timely. Nice place to visit in The Commons off the Swamp Rabbit trail. Will definitely come back.
