Service was so sweet! The food was superb. DEFINITELY get the fried banana with a side of ice cream!! It's phenomenal. Super lightly crispy and custard on the inside, has no banana texture. Loved the food. Very cool to see candied anchovies on chips! We got the stir fried noodles and the coconut rice bowl. Everything was so delicious and well priced too.

Google
The one and only authentic Indonesian restaurant in the Seattle area. Having grown up in Holland, I know a thing or two about Indonesian food, especially because my mother was born there. This restaurant serves Indonesian dishes as real as it gets. Their various mini rijsttafel dishes remind me so much of big family dinners back home! Perfect!

Google
The food is very tasty. The spicy things are SUPER spicy, even for someone like me that enjoys spicy things. The fried chicken is very crunchy and maybe just a little dry. The yellow and coconut rice is tasty goes well with the other dishes. My favorite was the mango soda. The restaurant was clean, the bathroom was in good shape, and the service was fast.

All-around excellent food! Loved the fish cakes, the beef rendang, and the ong choy. The grilled chicken was perfect!

🥘: 8/10. I cam here with a wonderful couple who are getting married! The menu offers a wide variety of options, and everything we tried was delicious! We ordered appetizer sampler, nasi padang, nasi goreng, nasi uduk kamplit. They were fantabulous! Very flavorful and they looked amazing! The appetizer sampler gave a variety of appetizer that we wanted to try and definitely satisfying! 🧑🏻‍🍳: 7/10: Service is great, friendly staff and willing to answer our question. They are all very kind and nice! I would appreciate it if they can serve our food sooner haha ! Or maybe we are just inpatient because we are all starving 📍: 7/10: The restaurant is very nicely decorated with a lot of cultural paintings and bamboos! It's giving me a good impression of like I am in indonesia! Also the TV is playing wonderful Indonesia which has made me really wanted to visit Indonesia one day! They also have a big parking lot, in a nice location and everything is clean!

It's a shame there's not a lot of Indonesian restaurants because I've learned from Indo Cafe that the food is incredible. Pretty unassuming from the outside, but you can't judge a book by its cover. Everything we had was delicious and super reasonably priced. If the location was a little closer I'm sure we'd be there weekly. We tried a lot of different items but if I had to pick a favorite it would definitely be the Risoles, so definitely recommend getting that or the Appetizer sampler with whatever else sounds good.

I love Indonesian food. It always hit that sweet spot between sweet and spicy Thai and the seafood-rich Polynesian cuisines without being either. It really is its own thing—a mélange of foods and cultures, like Indonesia. I cannot rave more about the house sambal. It is made in-house, so fresh and fruity, that I wanted to keep eating long after my stomach hit its spice limit. The wide rice noodles I got are the same fun I grew up eating Cantonese, the same pad in pad Thai, cooked at high enough heat that they remained loose, instead of glomming together into a gooey mess, but not overly greasy either. Yes. They have some less scary variations of chicken satay and fried bananas that would not be too exotic for my less gastronomically adventurous friends and relatives. There are plenty of vegan and gluten-free options for those with more restrictive diets. But the colors and flavors unique to Indonesian food are all there—that bright, aromatic, and spicy crossroad of cuisines, like the glittering jewels of islands they came from.

Google
Unassuming restaurant in Northwest Seattle that will surprise you with nothing but mouth-watering dishes. Ordered the flavorful nasi goreng Indonesia with shrimp along with a crispy 2-piece fried chicken. Highly recommended for first-timers like us. Can't wait to go back and try the beef rendang. Great service and clean dining area were a big plus to the experience!

Yelp
There is always a silver lining in every cloud. I didn't even know there was an Indonesian restaurant in Seattle until we were forced to flee to a hotel in the area to escape the bomb cyclone. Our house was seriously damaged in the storm and the power was out. After a couple of freezing days in a house with a hole in the roof, I called many, many hotels to find a place. Not surprisingly all the hotels in the immediate area were either without power or booked solid. We finally found a hotel in North Seattle in a rather sketchy neighborhood. Sketchy enough that the local Ross scanned every customer walking in, and we saw other places that had armed guards! Apparently, shoplifting is a big thing here. However, what a place to find really fun and interesting food! This area had it all from Egyptian to Dim Sum, Korean and more. And maybe the only Indonesian restaurant in the whole Seattle area. We were so excited, and the food was amazing. Of course, maybe that was because it was the first, real hot meal in two days. We ordered a curry special, coconut fried rice, and a couple of noodle dishes, plus a side of plain coconut rice. Highly recommend the food, plus the prices were very reasonable. Maybe because of the area. My favorite was the plain coconut rice (anything but plain!). I'm on a mission to recreate that at home. Great service too.

Yelp
Indonesian food isn't something I find easily in the PNW. This restaurant brings back the flavors of Indonesia for me. We ordered two appetizers and two main dishes. For the appetizers we got the tempeh and the chicken sate. Both were very good - I want to note that tempeh may not be for everyone cause of the texture or taste. However, I like it. The other two dishes we got was some stir fried flat rice noodles. Had nice wok hey flavor to it. I forgot what the other one was called, but it came with rice, some long beans and carrots, beef rendang, corn fritter and a fried egg in sambal. This particular dish made me so happy since I haven't eaten it in a long time. Beef rendang was good, all the different sides with it was nice. Service as good here, and staff were nice. There is parking on sight but it's a bit tight.

Yelp
There's not many restaurants that serve indo food so I was surprised to find Indo Cafe. I came with an Indonesian friend and after the meal he said it was authentic. The food was delicious and had a lot of different items that I was usually used to. Service was great and the inside was a lot bigger than I thought. There is a parking lot although it's small. Bakwan jagung (Corn fritter): delicious as an appetizer and recommend the sweet soy sauce to add another layer of flavor. Ayam Goreng Mbok Berek (Javanese fried chicken): The two pieces of chicken were big and juicy. There's some friend crumbles on top which add another layer of crunch. The yellow rice upgrade is fragrant and highly recommended! Will definitely stop by again.

Yelp
I love this hole in a wall restaurant. The dishes are so diverse and varied. I never had Indonesian food and this popped up looking for restaurants. It is a cozy place with so many different dishes. I loved the appetizer sample to try all that they had. The had like mini egg rolls and fried wonton with two delicious sauces. The sampler gave us such a good taste of what they had to offer. The chicken I ordered was crispy and moist! I would come back to this place to have more dishes and expose more of my friends. The waiter was nice and easily flagged down for attention. The parking lot is a little small, but there is more parking to the south of the plaza; so, sizeable parking.

Yelp
Really sad they are closing down. This place was one of my favorite restaurants in the Greenwood area. They stayed authentic to their Indonesian roots, were packed with flavor, and were super reasonably priced. World of mouth reviews got me here, and I was told this was some of the best Indo food in the area (let alone one of the best Southeast Asian restaurants in Seattle) - and they weren't wrong. Wish the owners best of luck in their next chapter, I have fond memories of this place.

Wanda V.

Yelp
Their last business day is Wednesday (Dec 3rd!!!) so sad. Everyone go and visit before they're gone forever.

Bethany M.

Yelp
Pretty good, overall. It was a little frustrating because they were out of a lot of items (fish, veggies, drink ingredients, etc.) because it was Wednesday (they're closed on Tuesday, and Wednesday is apparently when they restock). That being said, most of what we experienced was solid - portions, prices, service - they all met expectations. The restaurant itself is clean and spacious. Food was served promptly after we ordered, even though it was very busy. Highlights for me were the sate ayam (best I've had in the area) and the nasi uduk. The accompaniments were not up to the quality of the chicken and the coconut rice though (krupuk was stale/not crispy; the anchovies were nonexistent; and the egg was way over cooked/very dry). I would also avoid the Batagor appetizer. It was not delicious (mealy texture, weird flavor - didn't taste like chicken OR tofu tbh). I would come back to try the fish and the veg/gado gado.

Yelp
This place is tucked into the corner of the tiniest strip mall, with very little parking, but it is SO GOOD! They offer authentic Indonesian food that transported me back to my childhood days in Surabaya, and I was almost paralyzed by all the delicious offerings on the menu. I landed on a simple selection of Nasi Padang with ayam goreng and ayam goreng balado (upgraded to nasi kuning), mini rijsttafel with sapi rendang (upgraded to nasi lemak), es teler, and es teh manis. Aside from the tiny parking lot, my only complaint is how far this place is from where I live! But I will certainly make the effort to come back when I am craving real Indonesian food.

Yelp
My family and I stopped here on the way to Seattle from the San Juan Islands and had an amazing Indonesian meal. I have been to Indonesia a few dozen times (throughout the islands) and lived in Singapore several decades so I'm always on the lookout for great Indonesian food which is difficult to find in the US. At Indo Cafe I found it. We ordered six dishes: sate ayam (grilled chicken skewers in peanut sauce); lumpia Jakarta (fried spring rolls with noodles and vegetables with a side of peanut sauce --- the crunchiness of the rolls was perfect); batagor (fried tofu with chicken and fish with peanut sauce); kang kung terasi (with tomato and shrimp chili paste); ikan goreng lalapan (fried fish); and nasi goreng Indonesia (served with chicken, crackers and a hard boiled egg). All the dishes were first rate and authentic. We also ordered an extra side of sambal. My only regret with the meal is when asked for the spiciness level we said 3 out of 5. Next time we'll say 5 out of 5! I missed the higher level of spiciness. The service was good: the manager doubling as a waitress and she seemed a bit stretched. The prices are very reasonable. The ambience and decor of the restaurant is a bit run down. But that didn't detract from the wonderful Indonesian food that I would like to have again!

Laura V.

Yelp
I have a friend from Singapore. He misses the vibrant flavors from there and Malaysia. So I like to come here to satisfy his cravings for delicious, home style cooked food. First, must order the Gado Gado salad. This is an Indonesian warm salad, with tofu, eggs, onion crackers and peanut sauce. Such a great mix of unexpected flavors to me, that is refreshing in a salad. Next, Nasi Padang. This is a delicious rice dish, with " Nasi padang, sometimes referred to as Padang rice, is a Minangkabau dish of steamed rice served with various choices of pre-cooked dishes originating from West Sumatra, Indonesia. It is named after the city of Padang, capital of the West Sumatra province. A miniature banquet of meats, fish, vegetables, and spicy sambals eaten with plain white rice, it is Sumatra's most famous export and the Minangkabau people's primary contribution to Indonesian cuisine." Another Indonesian dish, called Rijstta comes from the Dutch occupation. https://folklife.si.edu/magazine/rijsttafel-dutch-indonesian-identities They have several versions of rice table, the translation of rijsttafel. Have to mention the kind and welcoming service I received here. My takeout food was cooked to order. Small restaurant inside, with a bar and table seating. You feel like family here. Great food and experience.

Yelp
My boyfriend found the spot tucked away on Aurora Ave, thinking that it was a coffee shop. It's next to a hair salon and a telecom store. Pretty easy to miss and definitely don't expect fancy interiors. Parking was relatively easy. I've never had Indonesian food other than the "Indonesian fried rice" I had when I was a kid... in China. It had ketchup in the fried rice. Ketchup. There's no way that fried rice was authentic. I'm glad I read the reviews so that I didn't have to ask what everything was on the menu. I truly couldn't understand a thing. Price was great. Portion size was big. Food was very well seasoned. I didn't like how they made collard greens, but I genuinely enjoyed everything else. The service was amazing. The restaurant staff were all so nice. I learned from the reviews that this is likely the only Indonesian restaurant in town. Please give them a try (and keep them in business) so that maybe more restaurant owners would want to open up Indonesian restaurants.

Kati W.

Yelp
The food is soooo good. If you've never had the opportunity to try Indonesian food I HIGHLYYY recommend! My first try of Indonesian food was in the Netherlands where I did not realize there is a huge Indonesian influence! I did a huge online order to try as much as I could. Some highlights for me were the gado gado (warm Indonesian style salad), the kang kung cah terasi (super flavorful stir fried greens, don't miss. Can also be made without shrimp to be vegetarian), and the rendang beef everything was super fresh, hot, and flavorful. Definitely will be reordering!

Yelp
This place did not disappoint! A friend has been wanting to bring me here for years. Last time we came, they were closed due to inclement weather. This time we lucked out as the ice storm was about a week ago so we missed out on that luckily. I had a few different dishes that we shared and they are in my pictures. I don't know how to spell them so I'll just describe them. I had a coconut rice dish with some pork in a sauce as well as a corn fritter and a hard boiled egg with vegetables. It was really good with good flavor! Friend had a noodle dish with lots of different vegetables and it had a good spice to it. We also shared the chicken on a stick that was covered in peanut sauce and it was amazing! Highly recommend. Service was very friendly and overall it's a great restaurant and a great opportunity to try Indonesian food!

Yelp
I randomly found this restaurant on one of my rewards app (Upside) and thought to check it out as I've never had Indonesian food. And I'm so glad I did! Everything was amazing! It's located in the corner of the Aurora Plaza next to Ebenezer Tienda Latina grocery store on Aurora Ave N. Literally a hole-in-the-wall kind of restaurant! There's a small parking lot right up front. I got the Nasi Padang (Paganese mixed plate) with choices of Ayam Cabe Ijo and Rendang Sapi. There was a two chili sign next to the Ayam Cabe Ijo which made me kind of cautious as Southeast cuisine can be REALLY spicy. Our server was nice enough to ask if I wanted the spicy sauce on the side! The sauce was actually not too spicy for me at all. Phew! It was a nice dipping sauce with my food. The Ayam Cabe Ijo, the Paganese chicken was super flavorful! There was a curry (I believe) on top of it, giving it more flavor and making it less dry compared to if it was alone. YUM! The Rendang Sapi was like also delicious! The sauce that it was slowly cooked in was interestingly different in a good way. Almost like curry but not really! The plate also consisted of stirfry vegetables which was a bit bitter. Not my cup of tea but definitely doesn't ruin the meal. My boyfriend got the Nasi Gila Menteng, the Crazy Rice. The server basically described it as the 'hangover meal' with all the meats thrown together on top of rice. Definitely looked like hangover food LOL. The entire dish was simple but the flavor they used to stirfry the meats were delicious! Can't really put my finger to the flavor. Our friend got something but can't remember what... but he also got the Lumpia Jakarta (Fried Spring Rolls) which were PLUMP. They looked super good, and he seemed to enjoy it too. I also got the mango soda which was very interesting. Basically a carbonated mango drink that was sooo fizzy that it threw me off. LOL not a big fan of it. Soooo glad I found this little gem! The food here was delicious and unique that I definitely cannot wait to come back for more!

Lestari ..

Yelp
I love Indo Cafe food. I never had a problem with the food that I ordered. I came here few times before I gave this review. I can say the quality of the food has been pretty consistent. The staff, as always, are friendly! The athmosphere is okay. I think it can be better

Aun S.

Yelp
Just found my new culinary crush - the chicken satay at this spot is out of this world! Tender, aromatic, and slathered in the most divine peanut sauce - it's a flavor fiesta not to be missed! I adventured through their chicken menu paradise and each dish was a resounding success. Get ready for a return customer!

Julian S.

Yelp
Hidden gem of a place. Not much of an ambience and the seating is very basic. My reviews are generally about great food and not so much about ambience and I put a lot of weight on the former. Authentic Indonesian cuisine and generous portions. The dishes come in ala carte style but you can share as family style. Just ask them to serve the rice in a separate plate. Good variety of dishes that will give you a broad experience/exposure to the Indonesian cuisine. I read other reviews that this place is authentic and I agree. It is the most authentic in town and probably the only one around. I also read that it was hard to pronounce the names of dishes and/or not knowing what they are. I recommend reading the description. The description will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know about the dish. I personally love places that use original names of dishes. Best way to get immersed/introduced to the culture without leaving your own backyard. It is part of the overall experience and learning about other cultures. The menu layout and using the original names factored heavily in my review. We had the Kang Kong (On Choy), Ayam Cabe Ijo (ayam=chicken), and Daging Tuturupa (daging=beef). All were very flavorful. We have a high tolerance for spiciness so we selected spicy. I think it would be too spicy for most. It seems like the spice level is either spicy or mild with no in between but suggest you ask if there is something in between. The Chendol was a nice finishing touch and is a popular dessert in South East Asia. It does not have the variety of ingredients as the ones we had because this only came with the grass jelly and small pieces of mango. It is also sweeter than most that we have tried but still good. Friendly and fast service. We arrived at about 6:45pm on a Friday evening and there wasn't a crowd. It is advertised that they close at 8pm and shortly after our food arrived and we started eating, at around 7:20pm, they went around to the tables asking for last orders because the kitchen is closing. I felt it was a little early to be closing the kitchen but it was not a big deal. Just stating this here so readers are not crunched for time. When they came around with that announcement, we placed the dessert order. They did time the serving of dessert correctly - after we finished the main course. So it is not like the dessert sat around while we finished up. Parking was tight in the parking lot in front of the restaurant but seems like the traffic is for the adjacent business (a beauty salon). We had to back out and circle the block and park in the lot BEFORE and right next to the building. Adjacent to the wrecking yard in the back. It was tricky to back out of the main lot onto Aurora, so be careful. We'll definitely be back to try the other dishes. We'll try a fish dish (Ikan=fish) the next time we come.

Matt R.

Yelp
I have a new noodle place! It was my first time at an Indonesian restaurant, and I will be back to Indo Café. I had the Bakmi Goreng Jawa. It's similar to Phad Thai, but definitely has a more pronounced sweetness. My server was very friendly. I inhaled the dish, I was almost done when he came back to see how I was doing. Also very reasonably priced when other restaurants seem to be gouging people. Try them!

Charlotte G.

Yelp
An excellent spot for authentic Indonesian food! The mie goreng tasted great and so did the rendang. I was so grateful to find a spot to serve Indonesian food that was just as good as what you can find in the country itself. It's not often you find these spots as Indonesian cuisine is not as popular as Japanese, Chinese, or Thai. Anyone looking to try a good representation of Indonesian food should definitely come here and check it out.

Spencer K.

Yelp
Food is sooo good. They're super nice. The restaurant is very cute and cozy. My favorite restaurant in Seattle :)

David L.

Yelp
Best Indonesian restaurant in north seattle area i love everything on the menu and must try their desserts option

venny y.

Yelp
I ordered siomay campur Bandung. 5 pcs per order (3 siomay, 1 whole egg, 1 tofu with siomay). It's good portion but as the taste, it's awful. I don't taste the fish at all. The food was dry. I think they put it on the microwave not the steamer to heat it up. My sister ordered ayam peyet and empek empek. She said the empek empek wasn't good either, no taste of fish and the ayam peyet was too dry, over cooked. 2 stars just for the portion of the food, otherwise it will be 1 if the portion was tiny.

Emili A.

Yelp
According to my OG indo friend, this is the most authentic indonesian food that you can find in seattle. Though I have never been to Indonesia, after eating a few bites, I could see how this would taste like "home" It definitely had the comfort food vibes, to say the least. The fried chicken was extremely juicy and crisp, would highly recommend. The noodles were a nice addition to the meal as well. We also got coconut rice, which was perfect texture and not too dry at all. As well as a coconut soup base which was a little spicy. Overall, I wish I could be more descriptive and name the foods but my friend ordered everything so I didn't get the name! The staff was friendly, answered all our questions, and had great recommendations.

Shamail K.

Yelp
Every time I am near shoreline I have to stop by and order the Rendang Sapi. Dang is right cause it is dang good. The fish with chili paste is great as well if you can handle spice.

Cody b.

Yelp
The waiter was friendly, and that is about it. The food was dry and overly greasy. The menu said the chicken was cooked in a house made sauce, and this was clearly not the case. The sauce was some prepackaged bland red sauce poured over the top after cooking. Honestly avoid at all costs. Your leftovers in the fridge will be better than this place and I don't often leave a review this bad but I'm upset I even spent money on this.

Marie C.

Yelp
This place was a nice indo restaurant. The food was very good with what seemed to have limited ingredients inside of each plate. The fish was so fresh and crispy. The meat was good and tender. We had a side of the yellow rice and rice was so yummy! Then noodles had great consistency and flavor as well. Parking lot is kind of small.

Peggy R.

Yelp
I went to an event that was catered by this amazing establishment! The actual event was a benefit dinner, and the cuisine was Indonesian. I'm so grateful for the taste excursion! It was served buffet-style with a whole host of food. There were a couple things that really stood out, and I'll tell you about them. The first thing that amused me was the peanut sauce. It was actually quite tasty, and had a label that said, 'Peanut pauce contains peauts.' I found great comfort in that notion. The sauce, by the way, was delicious!! The other thing that stood out was this funky, cold soup. The aforementioned soup was sweet with sweet potatoes, a cold, creamy sauce and plantains. The flavor was really quite amazing. I slurped the soup with reckless abandon, leaving the plantains to the end. There were 2 plantains, one larger than the other. The smaller was unremarkable, but the larger one was pretty flavorless and practically inedible. There was nothing wrong with it, I just don't think I'm in love with plantains. I'm not taking any stars away for it, because it didn't affect the overall flavor. I am definitely going to try the actual establishment in the very near future. Based on the food I tasted, it's going to be epic!

Sari S.

Yelp
My country's food! Not bad to cure homesickness for those who don't know how to cook well. We ordered Mendoan and Siomay, closed our palette with es cendol and es campus. Es Cendol: highly recommended! Es Campur: too sweet and I usually make my own and add tape ketan, young coconut, and avocado. But this one is good enough if it's not that Siomay: meh! Tempe Mendoan: highly recommended!

Kati P.

Yelp
Our first time here and they had a number of veggie/vegan options for us. Different than Thai or Chinese and not as oily. The floors need to be washed as they were so sticky.

Joan K.

Yelp
Authentic Indonesian food. You'll notice that most of the table has one native Indonesian. The food is excellent. We always get the Gado-Gado. This time we got the Risoles and it was amazing. We'll be getting that next time. Parking is tight and might be hard to find a spot. The atmosphere is a bit cold. Perhaps they're still coming back from Covid. They do not package the left overs for you. The service is good but they only have one person taking care of the whole restaurant.

Timothy L.

Yelp
One cuisine that I have been wanting to try that I have not yet was Indonesian cuisine so I decided to give this place a shot. I ordered the nasi padang with ayem kalio and rendang sapi. The rendang was my favorite part of the dish and it was really flavorful. Overall, the food is pretty good but I was not particularly wowed though. The waiters were nice and attentive which is always a plus. The parking is really small and tight so be mindful of that when you come!

Anthony C.

Yelp
The most authentic tasting and closest you'll get to real Indonesian food here in the US, period! I've lived there and was so pleased my wife took me here. The portions are HUGE, so only eat what you're able unless you have a big family. Indonesians are all about sharing so order up in that case. The sate ayam was delicious and reminded me of Sate Khas Senayan, so pleased. The Gado2 was of course tasty too with the krupuk. I loved the kuning and bakar. It all reminded me of my years living in Indo... thank you!

Henny S.

Yelp
Food was decent, service pretty fast. We ordered the nasi Padang got rendang and chicken. Rendang taste pretty close to Javanese style, not the Padang style which Normally dry. Portion very decent. Had ayam goreng but requested The kremes but kremes tasted like plain fried bread crumbs, unflavored and it was served to us tasted old and stale, we didn't touched it. Cabe hijau ( green chili) was very close to Padang style, delicious. The restaurant parking can be a bit tricky, and location of this restaurant is one of the famous street in Seattle that known for its red light district so you'll see interesting occasional pop up around the area.

Gloria C.

Yelp
My favorite Indonesian restaurant in the seattle area! Really authentic and can't go wrong on their menu. Staffs are really friendly and helpful. Around $15 avg for their main dishes. Highly recommended to check it out if you are in the area.

Donny S.

Yelp
Good flavor but not authentic tasting according to my Indonesian friend. Nice service too. I liked the passion fruit juice (not pictured).

Jess L.

Yelp
Super flavorful and spice filled - the Nasi Padang is a definite try from here! I got the Rendeng Sapi (braised beef ribs) and the Ayam Cabe Ijo (green Chile sauce with fried chicken) as my meats. The Rendeng was super soft moist and had a more curried savory taste whilst the chicken was nicely fried and soft with the sauce being spicy - cutting the fattiness of the rest of the dish. I also got coconut rice as a white rice sub which added a small amount of sweetness to compliment the savory tastes. The lumpia was also good with the peanut sauce that comes with! :) The vibe and the feel of the mom and pop shop was nice and there was a lot of space. Service was fast and accommodating as well. Would definitely recommend!

Lien D.

Yelp
I like fried chicken so what is there not to like? We ordered ayam goreng mbok berek (crumbs) and ayam goreng balado (red sauce). Crumbs was delicious but it was a bit bland without the red dipping sauce. The meat was also slightly dry. Red sauce was good and I think I prefer it over crumbs. I like the seasoning but I think I can just go to the store and buy the red sauce that covers the chicken. Unsure but they were both delicious. The amount of food is smaller than I expected. I would say definitely order an appetizer or more. The avocado ice cream was okay. I liked the chocolate bits in them. The amount of ice cream was small. Service was good. Had no issues. Pricing? Hard to say. I felt like it was more expensive than it should be but there are also no other Indonesian restaurants around the Seattle area.

Maureen E.

Yelp
I had a reservation here and was welcomed warmly by Zulfi our amazing waiter! I was so excited to find this hidden gem. The restaurant is casual. It was hard to choose from the many delicious selections. Started out with some appetizers. The Sate tasted like my mom used to make! The food is all the tastes familiar to me and I highly recommend Indo Cafe especially if you grew up eating Indo food. Our waiter Zulfi was very polite and efficient. I will definitely come back here for my next visit from California.

Yelp
Please, open a second Indonesian restaurant in Federal Way, WA for the people who don't want to drive to Seattle. There are Indonesian people and Dutch Indonesian people in this area. Love your food!!!

Yelp
If you are craving for Indonesian dishes, this place is a definite must-try. My husband was born and raised in Seattle. He didn't know about this place until I introduced him to it. Ever since then, we have been going regularly to try different dishes on their menu. Let me just say that the food and service here are top notch! Authentic and bold in flavors! Our favorite server is Alfian. He knows us by name and is always very friendly and helpful. We cannot say enough good things about this place. We also love the decor and atmosphere of this restaurant. Sundays are always busy so be sure to come on a different day of the week. Highly recommend this place if you're ever in Seattle or craving some delectable Indonesian cuisine!

Yelp
One of the best Indonesian foods you can find in the area! Loved their ayam cabe ijo and rendang. To be honest, not a huge fan of the collards I also ordered their gado-gado. The portion was huge! There was krupuk on the side, sliced egg, veggies, peanut sauce, and tofu. This was good too! The peanut sauce is more creamy than peanut-y.

Yelp
Chomp chomp chomp!!! What's not to like about this little place. I've been coming here before they moved location. A friend of mine invited me for Indonesian food intro/ and they were Indonesian. I didn't remember what I ate but I remember a lot of food! Since the initial visit, I've been doing a lot of takeout: even pre Covid. They had amazing lunch specials and they were usually on my way to catching ferries to the islands. I've tried most of their rice dishes with several variations of fried chicken. Ayam goreng Penyet: fried chicken and rice dish with chili paste. Good. Chili paste on the side so you can taste the crispy and crunchiness of the chicken. Ayam goreng Balado: spicy fried chicken with rice dish. This one comes with chicken smothered in tangy spicy hot sauce. Made the chicken soggy as oppose to crunchy. The sauce also have a lot of flavor. Ayam Cabe Ijo: my favorite of all their chicken options. Padangnese chicken with green chili sauce! Nice, clean, crisp and spicy! Beef Randang: yellow rice is delicious as well as the sauce that beef is simmered in. Nasi Kuning Komplit: Indonesian yellow rice with fried chicken, spice boiled egg ( and fried) , fried anchovies and crackers. It's a tasty plate. Bakmi goreng Jawa: Javanese style stir fry egg noodles. I got it with chicken. A little on the sweeter side. But good. And their Nasi goreng! Indonesian fried rice with crackers. Pre Covid: they had a lot more options on the menu/ even lunch. But now it's more focused. Still good and easy to take out. Parking lot helps with pickup on such a busy road. And Indonesian flavors you can't find in most of Seattle. It's definitely my goto takeout spot for all things Indonesian!

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Overall experience: 4/5 Location: this spot is located in a small center right off Aurora with only a handful of parking spots. I've gone a few times between 3-4pm and have always found a parking spot. The space: dimmed with a pretty simple set up. I have only done take-out and have not dined in. They have always been very timely as my take-out orders are usually ready by the time I arrive or within a few minutes after. The food: Fried batagor 4.5/5 - delicious! I am weak for a good peanut sauce (and way too many other food things) and I did greatly enjoy Indo Cafe's homemade sauce. The sauce consistency is on the thicker side. Although it is fried, do not expect it to be crispy since it is drowned in the peanut sauce. This dish could also be a small main if you have it with rice, which is what I usually do. Mainly because I just love rice. Sate Ayam 4/5 - the grilled marinated chicken skewers were cooked nicely, meat was still pretty juicy. Served with their yummy homemade peanut sauce. Ayam goreng mbok berek 3.5/5- Chicken skin was crispy though the meat itself was a on the dry side. The savory crumbs also gave each bite a nice crispy texture and savory flavor. Beef rendang 3.5/5 - rendang had great flavors from the spices used like you would expect but the beef was dry when I had it. Kwetiaw siram 4/5 - this dish is not on the regular menu and is part of their weekend special (which changes weekly so check their instagram @indocafeseattle for details). The wide noodle dish with beef and egg is covered in a nice and thick savory gravy sauce. You would think it'd be a rather heavy dish but the sauce was just light enough to not make you knock out after licking the plate. However, I do want to note that I thought there would be more gravy sauce per their Instagram photo. Kwetiau goreng 2/5 - quite bland imo. I was excited to try this after trying the kewtiam siram. I really wanted to like it but I was not impressed and would not get it again. Avocado ice cream 4.5/5 - I really really enjoyed this! I love that they had mini mini mini pieces of avocado mixed throughout each serving. The ice cream itself has a nice creamy consistency though I think I did hit a couple icy bites. They also drizzle chocolate on top each scoop. I thought it would take away the flavor of the ice cream but it surprisingly went pretty well with it (though I prefer less chocolate drizzle). They used to have durian ice cream on their menu but I was told they stopped making it during the pandemic. I'm hoping they bring it back because I would love to try it!!! The owner and staff: very friendly and welcoming! I enjoyed the little chit-chat with one of the staff members.

Yelp
The only Indonesian restaurant around and they maintain pretty authentic flavors. I particularly enjoy their fish (Indonesians know how to deep fry) but have been happy with pretty much everything. Very reasonable pricing

Yelp
Got the Rijs Rendang (White Rice), Nasi Padang (Balado, Ijo, Coconut Rice), Nasi Padang (Goreng, Kalio, Yellow Rice), Siomay Campur, Onion Cracker, Kremesan, and Anchovy Crackers. Overall was super happy with everything! The food was great. I'd describe it as casual dining (tad bit upper scale than the quintessential Teriyaki joint in Seattle, and more like a shop in International District). Portion sizes are on the large size. Most of the chicken items were very similar to each other, just with different chili sauces topped on them. Doesn't take away from how the chicken was cooked right, though. The siomay campur was topped with some peanut sauce, which created an interesting flavor combo. I was also pleasantly surprised by the anchovy crackers, which reminded me of a Thai variation that is normally served with on rice crackers instead of potato chips. I never had Indonesian Food before, but this made me want to try more of it!

Yelp
Thumbs up for the beef rendang. Love the tenderness and its complex flavor! Will be back for more!

Yelp
What a nice find! I don't know much about Indonesian food, but the 2 dishes I've ordered were the bomb! I had the appetizer - chicken skewer, which was chicken thighs instead of the dry chicken breast. It was marinated and covered with their homemade sesame sauce. It was juicy and delicious! One of the main courses - spicy beef red curry. They used beef shank which was also more enjoyable than what most restaurants provide. Creamy rich coconut flavor and a nice kick of sour/spicy taste. Beef was indeed tender and one of my favorite parts of the beef! The server was very nice and friendly. Love the smile and the energy! I'm definitely coming back to try their other dishes!
