Came in for breakfast on a weekday morning and they were moderately busy. Service was great, the guy working the cashier, taking orders was helpful and friendly. The menu looked great and I decided on their avocado toast, which was excellent. Their coffee went very well with it. They have great food, nice coffee, and plenty of baked goods to take away too. They also seem to have a wine club, or at least a decent selection of wine for sale too. Definitely worth stopping in!

Found this spot while exploring Hilton Village. Purchased a cheesecake slice and a carrot cake slice. Absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and quick. Took their time with the customers and made some suggestions for us. Will definitely visit again.

Food is just ok and outrageously overpriced. Service is great, and the place is very cute. The drink menu is wonderful but again, expensive. Crab quiche was soggy, lacked flavor, and part of my crust was missing. Small portion, especially for the price tag. The mixed greens were nicely dressed and were easily the best part of my plate.

Yummy food and drink!! The pesto chicken salad sandwich was so good and the croissant was super flaky and crunchy!! The coconut latte and banana split lattes were also amazing, highly recommend

I would say this was an absolutely amazing experience if you’re trying to be in a nice calm environment with amazing food and amazing coffee. I highly recommend this place to anyone new to the area and any coffee lovers. Thank you to indulge and their amazing staff!

Google
Absolutely delightful and fulfilling. The queen and I needed some breakfast and found this lovely bistro - what a gem. We shared the loaded grits and a croissant - just heavenly. The grits were perfectly cooked with and over medium egg spilling it's goodness across the German style potatoes. The croissant and apple bread were tasty and the perfect pairing for our meal. Can't wait to return and try their loaded biscuits and gravy!

It’s as if Jesus himself came down and blessed the food. 🙏 10/10 food and service. The coconut latte is so good I could cry. Me and my bf love this place. Food is SEASONED & FLAVORFUL 🔥 worth the wait because it’s made with LOVE 💗

Google
Really wanted to like this place, but was disappointed. Latte was weak and not served hot enough. Ordered the special Cubano sandwich with beans and rice. Cubano was good but the beans/rice were mushy and cold. Wish it was better.

Yelp
I met a friend for lunch and tried the summer salmon salad special. This was the best salad I've ever eaten! It came with cucumbers, a white vinaigrette, and a lemon garlic aioli. The ambiance at Indulge is perfect for brunch/lunch and everyone working was friendly.

Yelp
This is my second time eating here and i have not been disappointed. I ordered the quiche Loraine and a vanilla cheesecake. The meal came with a basic salad w/ tasty dressing. The food is filling and made right! None of my items were under or overcooked, unseasoned, or dry. Everything was made well and it was delicious.

Yelp
What a great restaurant/coffee/bakery! First time dining here but my friend who suggested it had eaten here a few times and I can see why! You order at the counter and can take a seat anywhere. They then will bring out your food and drinks. Not tons of seating inside and might not be great for groups bigger than 4. They have daily specials and a full bakery case full of cakes, and other baked goods. I arrived before my friend and the nice woman behind the counter let me know how to order. I ordered the chicken salad on a croissant with chips and it was delicious. Nice flakey croissant with large chunks of chicken in the chicken salad. So yummy! Friend ordered the tomato basil soup and loved it! She also had an iced coffee. I took some sweets home and really enjoyed the cinnamon biscuits with cream cheese frosting and the carrot cake muffin. Both were delicious. Such a cute place in Historic Hilton Village. They also serve breakfast every day and on Sunday they serve breakfast all day!

Yelp
What a great place - My food was fresh, the wait staff were all wonderful, friendly, and attentive, and the atmosphere is casual and relaxing. Need a bottle of wine? They have plenty in their selection. I didn't get a chance to try the baked goods but plan on doing so next time. Check them out!

Yelp
Yum! My bestie and I met for a girls day and found this place in Hilton Village by happy accident bc the place we met at was closed for cleaning unexpectedly. We decided to give this place a try and I'm so happy we did. My friend has some food allergies and when we asked about the GF bread we spoke to a lovely lady (owner? Head baker? Both?) who said there is no soy, they bake it and everything else in-house and its focaccia bc she herself needs GF and wants the bread to be good. Their lunch and brunch menu was large and had tons of sandwiches, salads, toasts, drinks and sweets. They also have daily specials and loads of coffee drinks. My friend chose the Cobb and it was a large and fresh salad she really enjoyed. I chose the country club sandwich with ham, bacon, Swiss cheese, spring mix, sundried tomato, onion with roasted aioli. Served on their house bread. Sooo good! Delicious and large and filling. I added a side of their potato salad and it is served warm and absolutely delicious! To go - I chose an oatmeal cookie buttercream sandwich. SO good! Everything was good. I want to come back and try more. Highly recommend. Comfy cute bistro seating and a nice bathroom. Plenty of parallel street parking in front for free and lots of cute shopping in the little Hilton Village.

Yelp
Food - 4 service - 2 ambiance - 4 The iced machiatto was good - flavored well - I got half oat milk half whole milk. This is the combo I make at home. It was a little on the thin side though. What gets a knock off their 4 stars is the service. It took a few minutes for anybody to take my order (I was the first in line), at the very least I could have had a hello. Their menu is very small. The ambiance was cute - more of a restaurant feel than a coffee shop feel. Small space inside with only a few small tables. I like their selection of goodies (didn't get any) and also wine. Not sure I would return again - not worth the wait and the selection for drinks is sparse.

Yelp
Excellent, cozy, Bistro, located in the Hilton view area of Newport News. Lovely place. Great food, exceptional staff. I had the Roast Beef sandwich, on a croissant. Friend had one of the salads. Both delicious. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Perfection! Everything is always perfect in Hilton Village when you're at Indulge...you feel right at home as soon as you enter the door. For a gluten free diner Indulge has a mouthwatering offering of trusted entrees and an irresistible offering of gfree rewards! It's really difficult to make a choice! The Cobb Salad is unmatched in tidewater and beyond and they work magic with every avocado toast or loaded bowl of grits! Treat yourself to one of Indulgence's special themed evenings or wine tastings for celebrations, adding to your wine knowledge and spending a delightful evening in a French Bistro...without a passport! We're so lucky to have Michelle, Greg and Izzy in Hilton Village

Yelp
The food at Indulge Bakery is first rate, and it's got a cute, relaxing vibe! Tip: The bakery is situated in a very historic town When I first came here, I enjoyed a truly Legit grilled cheese sandwich. It was made with not one, not two, but four different cheeses - totally delicious!

Yelp
I went here a few months ago as a guest of my daughter in law who really loves the vibe. We were able to get a table easily and had time to study the menu. I went for the quiche Lorraine and side of potato salad. Both were very tasty. My daughter im law got some kind of loaded bagel she enjoys. The tea was nicely brewed. There was a small bakery case and I have no idea why I didn't get something to go. The business here was steady, the environs pleasant and the food yummy!

Yelp
I decided to take my little man and my friend to lunch. It was nice outside and we wanted to take advantage of the weather and our day off. This place is really cute...and I love the hole in the wall vibe it gives off. There are so many goodies when you walk in..so if you are on a diet...you can throw that mindset out the window haha...because all of their desserts looked soooo good...and they offered some gluten free items. This place is small, but has dine in or outdoor seating for nice days. The staff was very nice. I placed my order and sat outside. They said they would bring my food out. My friend ordered the salad, and she enjoyed it. I ordered the club and I got the PB and j for my kiddo. My sandwich was good and my toddler loved his sandwich. I do have a couple of complaints though...one is how long it took for me and my son to get our food. I waited 30 min before I asked a girl if she could check on my order...all together I waited forty minutes for a PB and j and a sandwich with a side salad...my second...the side salad is literally just lettuce...no tomato, no cucumber, no cheese...just lettuce. I will come back though! I did enjoy my sandwich! Oh and my monster cookie lol

Yelp
This quaintly styled bistro is where my Grubbing Buddies and I decided to meet for some much-needed fellowship and lunch. While my wife and I have been to the Indulge Bakery and Bistro in Newport News, Virginia, several times, our Grubbing Friends have never been. They arrived before us and, like my Grubbing Buddy and I, were able to find convenient parking. We sat down, engaged in conversation and perused the lunch options on the menu. Our lunch consisted of a club sandwich, roast beef club, turkey and brie on a roll, a bowl of incredible tomato basil soup and a side cup of watermelon chunks. The afternoon went well, and I'm sure our visiting guests will look forward to returning to this indulgent bistro.

Yelp
This one of my favorite places to eat. The food is excellent and the staff is always very friendly. I always would go past Indulge and finally decided to try it and it was the best decision I made. I highly recommend it. The desserts are amazing.

Yelp
There is a warm hustle and bustle to the action at Indulge Bakery & Bistro in Hilton Village, Newport News. There is a perpetual queue approaching the cashier/order taker in the rear of the small dining room. We were there late morning with the desire to eat a light breakfast in the house and take home four fresh bagels for the rest of the family we were visiting from Pennsylvania. Shelves all around carried kitchen items like local roast coffee beans, mugs, imported cookies and assorted cooking paraphernalia. The walls hung posters, clocks and other curiosities, all contributing to the pleasant ambiance. We ordered a slice of veggie quiche and two hot coffees. Service was appropriate for the size of the crowd, but also friendly and personal. The egg pie was small, but delicious, and came with a small greens salad dressed with vinaigrette. The coffee was hot and strong enough to keep us buzzing for a while. The bagels, sliced and bagged individually were fresh, but limited to three varieties- everything, plain and Asiago cheese. Still, they were excellent and clearly boiled/baked by a creative hand. The topping of the everything bagel had some unusual spicing that all of us commented on. The texture was tender and airy. Liked them a lot. It was easy to see why Indulge was so popular. They seems to do things right with a pinch of love and care.

Rachel P.

Yelp
I really, truly love the food here, but the service really needs some work. I wish this place was bigger and you didn't have to order at the counter. I'll keep coming back because it's delicious, but I don't frequent this place like I could because it takes soooo long to order and get your food.

Yelp
This cute little cafe is a great place to sit and have coffee and a snack. The coffee is always super sweet, no matter how I ask for it, so I'm not a huge fan. But the baked goods are great. They have a vegan, gluten-free carrot cake cupcake and it is the best one I've ever had in my life.

Yelp
everything we had was phenomenal. delicious little cafe find! definitely coming back. the staff is also so friendly! it was a great little cafe lunch

Yelp
We wanted to surprise our design specialist for her birthday yesterday. Hitch: she has Celiac's so gluten-free was an absolute must. My husband typed in "gluten-free cupcakes near me" on his phone and found Indulge. A pleasant voice on the phone said they had a gluten-free carrot "muffin" (later, looking at the menu, I saw that it was also "vegan"). We were able to pick up a dozen. She was so surprised. Ate one myself: unbelievably moist and flavorful, great mouth feel, heavenly cream cheese icing (which I doubt was vegan, but I'm sure that you could pre-order without). I can't wait to check out the rest of their menu!

Yelp
Today we had lunch at Indulge and it was outstanding! The food was delicious! The service was excellent and so kind. I can't eat dairy and they easily accommodated me. The oat milk latte was rich and creamy. My spinach salad ( lots of bacon ) was absolutely delicious. They gave me an excellent oil and vinegar dressing to accommodate my inability to eat dairy. My vegan carrot muffin was the best I have ever had! Wow... moist, delicious and just the right amount of sweet. My husband had a turkey sandwich and he enjoyed it, my son had an egg and bacon sandwich with avocado, lettuce and tomato that looked incredible. They both had the warm potato salad which was delicious with the perfect sweet and tangy dressing. Now I did not take food pictures but I did take pictures of the shop and it's super cute.

Yelp
I love that this sweet bistro in Hilton Village has gluten free options. I drive over an hour just to enjoy the home made gluten free focaccia bread for my Veggie Sandwich (I also add some Turkey). It's huge and amazing. Doesn't fall apart: They also have gluten free desserts that are home made in house. Love how friendly the owner / baker is - and has given me tips on making my own focaccia when I can't make it to her shop. Love this place.

Yelp
I love the vibe of this cafe! Right in the historic district of Hilton Village, this cafe gives you inside and outside seating. It is small, but packed with flavor. I have been a few times and love the outdoor seating. Today however it was cold and everyone wanted inside. We were able to find a table for 4 and made it work! The service is great even when you pay and order up front and go sit down. They are friendly and efficient there. They have lots of options to fit almost all good allergies. They are only open until 3 unless they are doing a special event.

Yelp
Finally tried this beautiful little gem in Hilton Village and was not disappointed. I went for breakfast with my sister and niece. Sis and I split the loaded biscuits and gravy and we got my niece a breakfast sandwich. The biscuits and gravy were absolutely amazing! I could have happily eaten a bowl of that gravy on it's own. My Americano was good though sis said her katte could have been stronger as the espresso flavor was very mild. I also tried one of their oatmeal cream pies. The buttercream in the center was too sweet for my taste but those oatmeal cookies were some of the best I'd ever tasted. They host events in the evening on occasion and I'm hoping to chexk out some of their upcoming ones soon.

Glenda P.

Yelp
We ordered take out but would have enjoyed sitting down to eat. Quiet and cozy shop with excellent customer service in Hilton Village. Parking on the street is a hassle but there is a parking lot in the back. Loved the vegan, gluten free carrot muffin and variety of coffee options. Will certainly go back.

Yelp
took a fun beach weekend trip with my besties from high school! on our way back home, wanted to find a cute cafe for breakfast. no lie 100% the best bagel I've had in a while. It was so good I bit my lip while eating (literally). The ingredients were so fresh, the salmon was perfectly layered on the creme cheese, and the best touch was shredding eggs over the top. the staff was super friendly and the interior was so comfortable and cute. 10/10 recommend and visit again. please get the lox and loaded bagel!!!

Yelp
We came here after church and glad to do so. Very inviting and friendly staff. Everything that we ordered was delicious. The place has a calming ambiance.

Yelp
Amazing food, great service. The loaded biscuits and gravy, are heavenly. Everything is fresh made and delicious.

Yelp
Our first time at Induge... the staff was super friendly, courteous and polite. The chicken salad on a flaky, buttery croissant was scrumptious. Hubby got the chicken cordon bleu special that came with pasta salad. He said it was excellent!! We will definitely be back. Bill, our server was very attentive and a sweet guy. Thank you!*****Five stars

Yelp
Almond croissant is my favorite thing ever. The biscuits and gravy is also really good.

Yelp
Stopped here one morning when staying at in AirBnB in Hilton Village. What a great find within walking distance of the neighborhood. We called ahead a time and put in our order. Everything was ready to go by the time we got there. The Croissant sandwiches are delicious and love avocado option. There were many things on the menu that were hard to pass up. It is clearly a place you have to keep coming back to, to try their crumble cake, biscuits and gravy or cinnamon rolls and other baked goods. It is a terrific breakfast place and the staff was very friendly. Not a ton of seats so maybe call a head of time to see if there is a wait. In the warmer months they do have outdoor seating. The atmosphere was quaint and cute. I could easy see myself getting a coffee and getting unplugged and indulge in some quality reading. This is for sure a place you will enjoy time and time again.

Yelp
Popped in for brunch. Small but well-curated brunch menu. Really enjoyed the bagel & lox - quality ingredients and excellent presentation. Great coffee, and everyone was super friendly. You order at the counter and they bring it to your seat. You'll wait a little longer for your food than other breakfast places, but worth the wait. The lunch menu has a little more to offer, and there's a great selection of beer and wine at the front. I'll be back to try it out

Yelp
Update: went back on 7/25/20 and again the quiche Lorraine was super good. The iced mocha was terrible though. It was like drinking coffee flavored water with a little mocha syrup. I didn't take any stars off because it may have just been an off day (it was really hot too) for the lady sitting at the tent but hopefully it will be better next time. Came here for the first time today and I'll definitely be back. The staff were really nice and helpful. It was a little loud in there when more people came in because the shop is a little small but otherwise it was fine. Now the food. It was sooo good. I got the quiche Lorraine and two iced mochas (it starte off as one but it was so good so I had to get another haha). The quiche was perfectly baked and so flavorful and the iced mochas almost tasted like chocolate milk. I had to add a packet of sugar though because it wasn't sweet enough for me. Can't wait to come here again!

Yelp
Pretty good. I'm not really planning on going back but that doesn't mean others shouldn't give them a chance.

Yelp
"Life is short, eat dessert first." You know Indulge, I'm glad I listened to you guys on that one because my Chocolate cream egg cupcake was phenomenal! And my my, what a selection of desserts you have! I ordered a cappuccino with Oat milk to accompany my cake - super smooth. The froth was perfect. That sometimes bitter edge a cappuccino can give was completely cut off and replaced by a warm fuzzy feeling that I cannot explain - must be magic. Basically, get the oat milk. It's super suave. For mains, I chose the classic Eggs Benedict. The eggs were absolutely on point (poached eggs aren't easy to make), the hollandaise was generous, but not overbearing, and considerably light for a sauce that's usually known to be heavy. Two words for this dish: very filling. Whoever is back in the kitchen knows what they're doing and you bet I'll be back. Staff here are super friendly and not afraid to engage in conversation, eager to offer advice on choices, or answer any questions you may have. I think Chris was our server today - excellent customer service. Will 100% return!! Especially for wine and cheese night!

Yelp
Been here three times now and never have been impressed. It's a cute spot but always packed to the point you have to tango to get around people.

Yelp
Before heading to Virginia Beach, my friends and I had brunch at Indulge Bakery & Bistro located in Hilton Village of Newport News. It's a fast casual spot, where you order at the counter, are given a number, and find a table to sit. My friends enjoyed a Vegan/Gluten Free Carrot Cupcake, Croque Madame, and French Dip. I enjoyed the Crab Quiche, which was made with backfin crab, swiss cheese, and spring onions and served with a side salad. However, the Tomato Basil Soup was spicier than I had liked. I could tell it contained black pepper and red chili flakes.
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
Great little bistro style coffee shop! The food is always on point and they have a little something for everyone. I have never made a reservation but they can get a little busy on the weekend so call ahead of you have a party.

Yelp
As I made my way thru a festival in historic Hilton village I came across this little gem. In the mist of this festival the line was almost out the door. I needed some caffeine so I took one for the Yelp team. If you have never been to the historic portion of Hilton, you are missing out friends. There is alot of history and amazing architecture to take in. Before I forget, the shop has a 10% discount coupon when you check in so make sure you take advantage of it. Not pictured was my bacon, egg and cheese croissant. It was delicious, hence the lack of picture smh. The macchiato was decent, not overly sweet as many of us may be accustomed to. The shop was packed to capacity but I caught a glimpse of some wine and craft beer ( I think). Like I said it was packed lol. Definitely worth a second visit , the menu look delish and this time of the year is perfect for the historic district.

Yelp
What a cute, little place. I emphasize the word little. This place was busy for a Wednesday lunch and could have used more space. They did a huge take out business and there is no waiter service. The people ordering their lunch had to stand in the same line as the take out people buying pastries and sweets. The noise level is very high. When we first arrived at 12:30 pm we could barely hear each other but as the crowd thinned out the noise level went down. They could use a little sound proofing to improve the diner's experience. You won't want to go here for a quiet luncheon. The menu is limited but totally adequate. Every one at our table thoroughly enjoyed their meal. I had the chicken salad croissant and it was very good. It came with a bag of chips and I would have preferred a choice of a salad or other kind of vegetable or fruit to make the lunch a little more healthful. I definitely would like to go back some time to sample breakfast. Parking is a big issue. As a disabled person I was dropped in front then the driver found a parking place. There is no "safe" place to drop off or pickup people. Warwick is a busy four lane boulevard. My driver turned in their flashers and prayed no one hit them from behind. The sidewalks are a mixture of concrete and pavers. Disabled people might have trouble safely walking even from the car to the restaurant. I tripped and almost fell but managed to stay upright. The pavers are very charming but dangerous for people who are not quite steady on their feet. Lastly, the inside is so small there is no room for a wheel chair or scooter. However, both of these can be easily accommodated on their patio. Yesterday was chilly and wet so dining on the patio was out. I encourage my disabled comrades to give this little place a try. It isn't impossible for physically challenged people to enjoy breakfast or lunch here but it does take some forethought and planning. Even though this wasn't the most relaxed, convenient and comfortable lunch I have ever eaten I have given them four stars because the chicken salad croissant and lemon bars were delicious.

Yelp
Shop was supposed to be open.... damn you for being closed 2pm on a Saturday. Damn you! I needed my coffee fix. As Mr. Biden would say - C'mon man! Pulled out and went to Wawa.

Yelp
Very nice hidden gem! it's in a small little strip and the ambiance was wonderful. booths and chairs with glass layer on the tables. The food was quite expensive for how simple everything was. however their croissants are AMAZING! service was great

Yelp
Me and my fiancé travel a lot. We love going to new places and trying new things. One thing we are advent consumers of is sweets. My fiancé found Indulge on Yelp. When we arrived we noticed the parking lot was more like street parking which was cool because it was a Sunday evening and the morning rush was quiet so we was able to park right in front of the building. When we walked inside we were all greeted by two things... an aroma that made you want to lick the air and Brittney, the super awesome cashier. Brittany was working with a customer when we walked in but she was sure to stop and greet us as she helped rap her customers purchases up. We were all so mesmerized by the sweets in the cabinet that we didn't realize the place was closing in about 30 minutes. Brittney came to assist us and she took her time telling us all about the sweets and the menu. She knew the ingredients in the items as if she was the one making them. Her knowledge of the products was super impressive. She gave my sister in law a sample of the meatloaf that they were making and she proclaimed it was the best meatloaf she's ever had. Brittney was so friendly and I love how she gave us her full attention. Even though the store was getting ready to close she did not rush us in any way. We also got the pleasure to Meat the baker! Her name was Michelle! She was amazing as well. The entire experience at the shop was one to remember. I feel in love with the butter cream cookie and the Ting drinks. 5 stars for Indulge! We will be back!!! Thanks Brittney and Michelle!!!

Yelp
During the 4th of July weekend, I happened to have the following Friday off from work. So I decided to come here for a 2nd go around days after my first visit, a rarity for me. And boy did it not disappoint. My girlfriend and I both ordered the loaded grits bowl, which comes with a fried egg (I preferred scrambled and she ordered hers fried), bacon, potatoes, cheddar and green onions. For dessert, she ordered a croissant and I ordered a cronut, which was peanut butter flavored filled w/marshmallow. The really neat thing for our order was dessert came first. Very good call. The cronut was really good. Full of flavor. Then, our breakfast meals came out. I can say Indulge did a wonderful job on whipping up a good dish. It was well seasoned and plentiful. Again, nice job from a great bistro.

Yelp
Had the "lox'd and loaded" which was very good. staff was very polite and service was "ok"--however, given that it is a "small establishment" and everything was "prepared to order," the wait wasn't "too ling." Overall a very nice experience in a "quaint" setting.

Yelp
The Panini and chocolate truffles were delicious! Definitely my new favorite NN lunch spot!

Yelp
It's been over a year since my last review, and there are so many more things to report on! Last time, I focused largely on the breakfast/brunch aspect of Indulge. They are still killing it on this level - but since that review, they've upgraded a lot of stuff! First, we are now big fans of the lunch fare here. The Tomato Basil soup is seriously delicious. They also often offer a Butternut Squash soup that is amazing. We stopped in for Restaurant Week and had the French Dip - it's made an appearance before as a lunch special and we loved it, so we couldn't wait to try it again! This time they served it with an onion soup instead of the traditional au jus - a fun twist on the classic, and equally delicious. Another important addition - they now offer beer and wine! In fact, they often do little tapas tastings/wine tastings on the weekends now. Several special events as well - we've been to a personal party they catered (fantastic!), had a birthday cake at a birthday they catered (yum!), and been to a number of street festivals where they have been serving (our favorite is at the Hilton fall festival where they serve traditional brat plates - soooo tasty, we look forward to it each fall now!). Finally, since my last review, they have free wifi for customers - this puts them in competition with Aroma's and Starbucks in the area as a quiet hub you can roll into to study or work. It's become one of my favorites because they often don't have the problem you have at those other places where you are beholden to the music selection of the barista on duty. It's often sans-soundtrack here, which is nice if you're trying to focus on work. When they do have music on, it's very light and unobtrusive. Again, if you haven't been here - you are totally missing out!

Yelp
The wait was kinda long for a lox bagel. It is just a lox and loaded ( avocado, red onions, capers, lox, and cream cheese on a DELICIOUS BAGEL) IT was delicious. Pricey but delicious.

Yelp
Food was very delicious. I had the club, another gal at our table had the bagel and lox it was tasty. We also had the banana bread, a lil too sweet. We had to ask for napkins, ask for utensils ask for our sugar. They really need to get extra help as the food took forever about twenty minutes. We sat eating out food without drinks because sadly our drinks took even longer. Would try a few other cafes in the area before coming here twice, maybe by that time they have hired extra help.
