I am so thankful for having the Winter Market so close to my house. It is a gem on the Near East side in the winter. I can walk to the market in less than 10 minutes, but when it is very cold and we drive there is ample parking just a couple of minutes walk from the market. There is a small lot right in front, or drive down Brookside a bit more and there is tons of parking. You will pass Indy Artsy (another great place to visit) and then you will pass Center Point (yet another great place) and then you will reach the market.
Once you are inside you will find vendors selling veggies like greens, lettuce, carrots, cabbages, Brussels sprouts, potatoes, garlic, and more in season vegetables, plus there are typically some apples. Additionally there are sweets galore-cookies, pastry, ice cream from Lick, there is coffee and tea, spices and pickles a wonderful herbalist and also other bath products like soaps. There is also some who sell meats and cheeses plus popcorn, mushrooms, honey, bread from Amelia's.
In addition to all the food you can take home, you may as well plan to also eat there. Several vendors serve breakfast and/or lunch foods. My absolute favorite is the table called 3-in-1 with the pupusas. Absolutely don't miss their pupusas or give a tamale a try.
While you eat you'll likely enjoy some live music, maybe with a glass of just poured Kombucha while your kid plays oversized jenga or connect 4 or do a craft at the Kindness booth. It's a real treat for the kids and they always have something to do at Maddie's table.
