The 42 Best Restaurants in Rome

"Whether you enter directly from Piazza della República or go through the newly-renovated Anantara Palazzo Naiadi, there’s a distinct air of exclusivity here. Perhaps it’s the fact that there’s only space for 28 covers, or maybe it’s the low lighting and hushed tones. Some diners are hotel guests, but there’s a bigger than expected mix of locals who got their name on the reservation list early, keen to sample Executive Chef Heros De Agostinis’s much-anticipated creations. Cooking delves deep into his family history, with a mix of Abruzzo and Eritrean cuisine that we rarely see in menus in Italy. Start with the green curry risotto with scampi and lime. Then move on to the black cod saltimbocca with vin jaune sauce, or the grilled lamb cutlets served with artichokes and a mint and yoghurt sauce. Some dishes are downright exceptional, like the turbot, parsley roots, and black truffle. Don’t leave without trying the raspberry and rhubarb souffle." - Maresa Manara

We were in INEO to celebrate my husband's birthday. They didn't disappoint. In fact, the food and service the restaurant offered exceeded our expectations. We ordered the seven-course tasting menu with wine pairings. The sommelier was talented, and the wine pairings made all the dishes more delicious. Thank you INEO, for making our day memorable.

How has this restaurant not been awarded a Michelin Star yet ? Really beggars belief. The food here is easily 1 star possibly 2. Our dinner was faultless, spoke to chef and spent the evening drinking beautiful wine and cocktails. We would definitely return for more.

The bread stick was way too thin to be used as chopsticks. But otherwise a consistently delicious meal lacking surprises. Also lacking was any kind of TV/Screen to catch an NFL game replay so you can avoid figuring out how to have a 2 hour conversation around the 20 minutes of chewing and drinking ... but hey they didn't advertise as a sports bar. The Kendall Jackson Chardoney in the wine pairing was.... not very Italian.

Google
Very decent high end restaurant, on par with some michelin star places. Impeccable service, nice romantic atmosphere and very tasty menu. I have tried a shorter one. I want to highlight amuse bouche, starter (raw prawns with amazing sauce) and bread (they proposed a variety of different breads and all of them were absolutely delicious). Definitely recommend to visit and try it yourself. And wish all the best to chef Heros and this restaurant.

Brilliant dining experience in Rome and one of our favourites out of our trip to Italy! Quiet and luxurious interior, knowledgeable service staff who knew the wine list intimately, and thoughtful dishes that left us extremely happy we visited. Would love to come back in the future - a true Michelin experience.

Excellent tasting menu, great cheese & wine. Our favorite meal in Rome, rivals most Michelin star restaurants we’ve had in Italy. Loved it, highly recommend.

Incredible. The best food we’ve had in Italy and the best dining experience so far. It rivals Michelin star restaurants we’ve been to before. I have a feeling this is going to become one of the best known high end restaurants in Rome soon

I was hoping for more. Don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful restaurant. But those who consider it Micheline level haven't perhaps been to enough Michelin restaurants. Let's start with the good parts: the atmosphere and the overall decor are very elegant and also very comfortable. We walked in from the Plaza side right at the minute of our reservation, and we had to awkwardly wait around the entry for someone to notice us, and then wait a bit more to be seated. It's worth noting that there were only 2 other tables besides us with guests, so I'm not sure what the wait was about. Other than that, the service was attentive and professional. We got two different multi-course menus with their recommended wine pairings. The amuse-bouche was the highlight of the evening, for sure. Its presentation was breathtaking. The dishes were a mix of good and some just ok. The wines were mostly just ok, no stand-outs. The bread cart and the cheese cart are a nice touch, but they fell slightly flat. Especially, the cheese cart selection can be improved in my opinion. I realize that I come from a land of award-winning cheeses, but if you're after Michelin stars, then that's an area where you can look to improve. None of the cheeses served were unique or interesting or memorable. Amongst the bread, one was very good (I think the rye bread?), the rest were ok. The salted butter was good but they didn't replenish it after we finished it (my husband likes butter with his bread, so he ended up scraping the last bit from the butter dish. That shouldn't be the case at such an establishment). The washrooms (inside the hotel) were actually quite nice (which is a strange comment to leave here for the restaurant, but they stood out, with their choice of hand soaps and hand lotion). Overall, I don't have a fault with the restaurant per se. It was an enjoyable experience but not a stand out.
