Inn at Diamond Cove

"Why did this hotel catch your attention? What's the vibe?Located at Diamond Cove on Great Diamond Island, The Inn at Diamond Cove feels tucked away. Only reachable by boat, the brand-new property is spacious and completely surrounded by nature. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book?If you’re already going to go to the trouble of getting to an island, you might as well splash out for one of the bi-level luxury suites, with their high ceilings, hardwood floors, and full kitchens. Whatever you book, the beds will be outrageously comfortable, and glass-enclosed showers complement the granite-topped bathroom vanities. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi?Wi-Fi is free of charge. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at?There are few options here, which is good, because there aren't a ton elsewhere on the island. The lobby bar and cafe serves casual fare; Cabana Bar serves poolside cocktails. If you venture off the property, Diamond’s Edge next door serves all the pastas, steaks, and baked stuffed lobster one could ever want. And the service? The guest services team is professional and well-equipped. Anything stick out about the neighborhood?Great Diamond island—at least this part—is car free, so everyone gets around on golf carts. Any other hotel features worth noting? The property has tennis courts, an indoor basketball court, a heated pool, duckpin bowling, an outdoor fire pit, a yoga studio, babysitting services, dry cleaning and laundry, and nightly turndown. It's enough that you don't need to, nor will you want to, leave. Bottom line: Worth it? Why?This is an unforgettable resort experience that's only 30 minutes by boat from Portland." - Joe Ricchio

We had a great couple of days on the island and at the inn. The staff were all so attentive and helpful. The bartender in the lobby took great care of us for dinner made sure we would be covered for breakfast even though she wasn’t going to be there. The hamburgers and hotdogs by the pool was a very fun lunch activity. The island is very walkable with lots of beautiful and interesting sights. Our room was very nice and we spent a lot of time on the porch. I will definitely return if I’m back in this area!

We had a wonderful, although quick, stay at Diamond Cove. After disembarking from the ferry , we dined at the restaurant right there at the dock. Food was great, atmosphere was cozy, and the staff was attentive. We walked in the dark to the hotel, so did not see the unique beauty of the surroundings. Our room was lovely and comfortable. In the morning, we grabbed coffee and a muffin in the beautiful lobby area before a guided golf cart ride to the dock. We would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a quiet, unique, and beautiful experience. Wish we would have stayed longer!

Wish we could have stayed longer than a quick 1 night stay. Could not have been happier. From the communication on transportation from the ferry pier, to the final trip back to via ferry it was awesome! Jack, who was part bus driver, desk support, concierge, bar tender, cook and waiter, was there for us whenever we needed assistance, never a wait. Hotel was magical, set on an old converted military base, it was very cool to wander (or bike) the grounds and explore the buildings, ruins of the base (only to a point) as well as sample the islands cuisine or have a drink by the fire pit watching the patron's kids make smores. Be sure to make it to the old activity center with a wooden floor basketball court, church pew benches, old school video games, and an OLD bowling alley (2 lanes). Rooms were spotless, beautifully decorated, clean and ready ahead of check-in. Such a relaxing and peaceful place with gracious hosts and kind local residents. We WILL be returning.

We took our elderly grandmother for an overnight stay this past weekend and had an amazing experience. She is in a wheelchair and everything was surprisingly accessible for her at the Inn as well as on the island. We booked an ADA room with plenty of space for her to use her wheelchair or walker. The room was spacious, clean, well appointed, stylish, and the balcony was serene, being right in the woods. This is such a special Inn, the grounds are gorgeous, the island is quintessential Maine, and everyone is just so nice and helpful. We booked during their special opening weekend rates that included complimentary dinner and breakfast, the food was another highlight. We had dinner on the porch at Diamond's Edge and they had a huge variety of offerings, their vegan dish of summer succotash was insanely delicious, others in our group had the filet and the fish and chips- all of us very satisfied. Staying here this past weekend created such a wonderful memory with us spending some amazing time all together. We loved everything about it and have already agreed to come back again. Also, with our grandmother in her wheelchair, your staff went above and beyond to accommodate her needs, bringing up the golf cart just for her because she couldn't step into the van, and just creating a fun experience for her versus feeling like she was a burden. Your staff at the Inn were fun, friendly, personable, and made for a pleasurable stay for us all- thank you to Kayla, Simon, and everyone else who was always available to help out. You made it easy for us to visit and just focus on having good, quality family time together- you handled all the details for us and we had an incredible time.

I had the opportunity to stay at the Inn at Diamond Cover this past weekend for a wedding. The bride and groom had booked the entire inn for their guests, meaning that we were able to roam freely around the grounds and use facilities as we pleased. Given that this was a special occasion, the staff was exceptional and attentive to our every need. Eric (the hotel manager) did a fantastic job to ensure guests were having a great time and were relaxed throughout our stay. My interactions with the front desk personnel, bartenders, and housekeepers were also phenomenal, and I appreciated being around such friendly people!

What a wonderful experience and an outstanding staff! Everyone was very friendly and professional, also very service forward, the best hospitality staff I have ever met. We were looked after like we were royalty and we can’t wait to go back. The room was fantastic, we had a King suite, and it was beautiful. Very comfy bed, and every amenity you could need. The breakfast was superb, amazing quality and extremely tasty! The two dinners we had at the Diamonds Edge, one being filet mignon and the other was a buffet featuring beef tenderloin, salmon and chicken with amazing side dishes…all mouthwatering gourmet goodness!

Sent us to our room upon arrival, the dirty sheets and towels from the last guest were all over the bed. Why send us to our room if not done yet? Why are we paying over $500 a night for this. Prices for food are outrageous for what you get. No place else to eat so you are stuck there. $70 for breakfast and $160 for dinner for a raw filet that took 38 minutes to come back from the kitchen and it wasn't any better. Still charged us $50. The entire group had already eaten their meal. No front desk. No management to oversee anything, just a bunch of 20 year old's working for the summer. Be careful they charge extras on your credit card.

Spent the weekend at the Inn. The entire weekend was delightful even with the “usual” Saturday rain here in Maine. Staff at the hotel are great, caring, informative, helpful, go out of their way to be accommodating! Slept like a log both nights on a firm mattress that was extremely comfortable. We enjoyed the museum which is small but very informative on the history of the island and Fort McKinley. Had dinner at the Diamond’s edge on Friday night and Saturday night at the Crown Jewel to have the opportunity to visit both local restaurants. Both have excellent food and caring waitstaff! I guarantee you will love visiting the Inn at Diamond Cove!
