80 Percent of NYC Restaurants Did Not Pay Full Rent Last Month, Survey Says | Eater NY

"Barry Dry, CEO of Parched Hospitality Group, is preparing to open a third location of Hole in the Wall at Hotel Henri in the Flatiron District; the Aussie-inspired restaurant and cafe will have indoor and outdoor space, is due to be unveiled July 10, and will occupy the space formerly occupied by Rodos from Emeril Lagasse." - Luke Fortney

These guys haven't had a functioning bed and breakfast for years. They do run a food establishment. If you try to contact the bed and breakfast you'll get a disconnected phone and a discontinued email address. There are, however, several references to them still on the internet, including the pin on Google maps. Just disregard it. Not one to take "no" easily, I stopped by and knocked on the door when we were in town. I had a brief chat with a proprietor. They sustained some pretty serious water damage (due to a burst pipe, I think), but it sounds like COVID was really what put them under. Someday they may repair and reopen.

We stayed two nights at the Inn to celebrate our anniversary and to squeeze in some alone time before the birth of our second child. The Scotchtown Suite was one of the nicest B&B rooms I've ever stayed in - spacious, well-decorated, historically charming yet still complete with all modern amenities. Helena, the innkeeper, is the best! She is a wonderful chef and works hard to make sure her guests have everything they need. She also provided many suggestions re: places to eat, visit, etc. as we were not using a strict itinerary for our long weekend. Listen to her recommendations as she did not steer us wrong once! The neighborhood itself is the second real star; there are so many delicious restaurants and lively hangout spots nearby, framed by these gorgeous homes, historic sites, and beautiful views of the rest of the city laid out below.

We recently spent three nights at the inn and couldn't have been more happy! The innkeeper, Helena, was one of the nicest people you'll ever meet and her breakfasts were fantastic...completely made from scratch and delicious! She was so helpful in recommending museums, restaurants and interesting places to see while visiting Richmond. She has extensive knowledge of the city is more than happy to help in any way that she can. The inn is located in a beautiful, older neighborhood called Church Hill. It's within easy walking distance to downtown and the Shockoe Bottom area which has great restaurants, nightlife, shopping and more. The rooms were very clean and well kept and maintained a lot of the character you would expect to find in an older home. Definitely give this place a try, I think you'll be glad you did. Thanks, Helena! We'll definitely be back.

We stayed at The Inn at Patrick Henry's for a long weekend visit in Richmond. We chose the more economical William Byrd Room on the top floor. Lots of steps to climb - but the room was welcoming and cozy. The historical architecture make the top floor especially interesting with the dormers and spiral stair emergency exit. The bathroom was clearly added - and is also clearly a "make do" bathroom. It's little and quaint, clean and serviceable. Quirky is our innkeeper, Helena - in the best way. She is inviting and warm, friendly and knowledgeable. Her history education is excellent and she can tell you all about Richmond. She is also a phenomenal cook, inviting guests into the kitchen for coffee while she is cooking breakfast. We hated to leave, as it was such a relaxing, enjoyable time.

Our rooms were clean and very nice. Proprietor was very friendly. Breakfast was nice both mornings we were there. Pub next door was never an issue for noise. Our room was quiet. Coffee shop down the street was great! We would stay there again which is probably the best compliment I could give the place. Within walking distance of a number of places in the Church Hill area.

We stayed in the EA Poe room, the very room in which the author/poet lived while in Richmond. An early 19th century home, Helena is the manager and eager to accomodate her guests in every way. The rooms are clean, well furnished, the beds are good, the sleep quiet; the breakfast excellent and made to order. House located in Richmond's historic quarter, across the street from St. John's church where Patrick Henry made his famous declaration. Our best choice during our recent trip around Virginia.

Good place to sleep. Comfortable and historic house. Host was very knowledgeable about city, history, and places to see. Breakfast was amazing. Definitely recommend staying here over downtown. Next door is a pub and grill that has a good burger and beer selection, perfect when you're tired from a day of sight seeing.

We are long-term B & B travelers and understand that location can be key to a good experience. This B & B is located right in the middle of the Church Hill neighborhood just east of downtown Richmond. It's part of a series of row houses, and the only parking is on the street. However, we had no trouble finding a spot right near the B & B. There is a small pub right next door, but we had no noise from it in our room. This is a neighborhood of historic homes and churches. Grace Street which runs parallel to Church Street makes for a lovely walk. There are several good restaurants within walking distance----we went to Roosevelt, a farm-to-table bistro about five blocks away, and it was excellent.||||The innkeeper gave us a good orientation to the inn and our room. The inn itself shows some age inside, but our William Byrd's Nest was reasonably comfortable. Note that this is a loft style room on the third floor and the steps up to it are steep. Our room had a comfortable bed and small flat screen TV, but was lacking in some comforts----there was no closet to hang your clothes and no chair except for a small desk chair. The lack of a closet was puzzling, as the room was pretty large and it would not seem difficult to build in a closet. The small bathroom had one major issue----the shower is built into an angular space, and the curtain does not fully cover it, so water ran out on the floor. Also, the tile work was chipped and marred. Some of these issues are just part of staying in an historic property, but we would suggest a different room. ||||Breakfast was served buffet style, and was fine, albeit more like a continental breakfast with one hot item. I believe the breakfast on weekend mornings might be more substantive. We understand that some sacrifices have to be made when staying in such an historic inn, so these issues weren't that significant for us. The price was reasonable and being in the neighborhood is a real plus.

Yelp
Terrific experience, accommodations, and staff. Helena made sure I knew of all the accommodations and even opened up the kitchen an hour early for me, as I had an early morning meeting. the best croissant I've ever had. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
Our hostess, Helena, is absolutely delightful. The Inn is still a work in progress, but she keeps it immaculate. We found street parking close to the front door. We stayed overnight in the Byrd's Nest room which is at the top of the Inn and features an oddly shaped shower with a triangular ceiling and a circular staircase down to nowhere (fire exit). The room was air conditioned and the bed was very comfortable. Helena was very accommodating at breakfast and serves an excellent yogurt. She is the star (or 5 stars) of this Inn.

Yelp
This is a beautiful historic bed and breakfast at the top of a hill in Richmond. Rooms are clean and spacious and well decorated. Our room featured a private bath and wet bar. The hostess was amazingly informative and a fantastic cook/baker which only pushed this wonderful B&B to the top of our "must go again" list. I feel bad writing a glowing review as I want to keep it a secret for myself.

Yelp
This place is awesome! After chatting with Helena, I felt like she was one of my long lost cousins. The breakfast was excellent and creative. Helena was very resourceful too!

Yelp
The room was nice, but the breakfast was not. Everything starts at 8 am, including access to coffee. If you are an early riser, you have to go to the starbucks to get coffee. Then she wasn't ready with breakfast until 8:30. Yogurt, cold toast, muffins that were as hard as bricks and juice. Added some scrambled eggs at the last minute. No sausage, grits, bacon . Asked for clean towels and was told that this service wasn't available usually during the week. Said that she would try to do it anyway. Wouldn't go again.

Yelp
Really nice little spot right across the street from the historic site of Patrick Henry's "give me liberty or give me death" speech. We stayed in two different rooms and they were both clean, comfortable, and elegant. The owner and proprietor, Helena, is fun and very friendly and works hard to make everything perfect for her guests. She prepares an excellent breakfast each morning, and Patrick Henry's Pub and Grille (separate business) is right next door if you don't feel like venturing out to eat. The Inn at Patrick Henry's is highly recommended. Thanks Helena :)
