Inn on Boltwood

Stayed here 2 nights for a wedding. Fantastic staff everywhere in this inn! The room was very comfortable, and the bathroom was recently remodeled beautifully to match the era of the inn. Fireplaces are everywhere. Bar and restaurant personnel went above and beyond. We had a brunch with almost 20 people showing up that they were not expecting and they set up our tables very cheerfully and were so nice and attentive. Lady in the bar the night before literally searched high and low for a liqueur rarely used that was needed for our drink order. And she came through. Just a fantastic time there.

Edward at the front desk helped me with a special request for my room, and had a major impact on my stay! I never got to say thank you in person, but his efforts were very appreciated! Holiday decorations were lovely, cocoa station was a nice touch. Dinner in the bar with Nicki (pm bartender 12/10, I think the name was Nicki) was lovely and warm, great service and kind presence.

We recently stayed at this lovely Inn and found many things to appreciate, though a few details kept it from being truly exceptional. Parking was well-organized with clear instructions and a provided pass, though it was quite a walk back from the lot. A 10-minute loading zone in front of the Inn made unloading luggage easy. Our room was spotless and thoughtfully prepared, with an air purifier added for my allergies and scent-free bedding exactly as requested. Both the linens and mattress were excellent, though the bed frame was noisy enough to make sleeping difficult. The evening experience was wonderful — the gentleman at check-in made us feel genuinely cared for, our dinner server was attentive, and the bartender created a fun, welcoming atmosphere. The next morning, however, the tone shifted dramatically. The staff seemed disengaged and borderline rude, which was disappointing after such a warm evening. It felt as though the A-team handles dinner and events while mornings are left to whoever’s available. The Inn itself is beautiful, and with consistency in hospitality, it could easily be a five-star destination. We’re only an hour away and often visit Amherst and Northampton — I truly wish the morning had matched the evening’s grace, as we’d love to return often.

My wife and I got married at boltwood this September. From start to finish (almost a 2 year process) the staff at the Inn was attentive, helpful, kind, and in the end they delivered above and beyond our expectations. Catherine, our wedding coordinator, was with us from the beginning. She thought of all the details we may have forgotten and provided the perfect guidance when we had questions. She and the banquet team customized to our specific needs and at no point did we feel we weren’t in good hands. The day of the wedding, Catherine, Dan, Elliot, and Adrianna lead the team and made sure all of our guests and us were well taken care of. Any issue that came up they dealt with swiftly and effectively, keeping our attention on each other and our guests. Chef Jose and his team cooked up hors d’oeuvres, apps, and entrees that our guests are still raving about. The front desk and housekeeping staff made sure our room was perfect and ready to accommodate the bridal party as they got ready day of. Vicky, Marita, and Tom at the restaurant bar did a fantastic job taking care of our guests before and after the wedding. Vicky, the bar manager, also ensured we had everything perfect for our reception bar. Our 3 bartenders knocked it out of the park and our guests were so happy with the selection and their drinks. We truly had our perfect day, start to finish! The Inn is gorgeous in its own right, but the staff within are the ones who truly made this a perfect day. If you are looking for the perfect New England wedding spot, look no further!

We stayed at the inn for our daughter’s graduation. The room was small but comfortable. Our room was on the third floor. The biggest problem was that the elevators weren’t working and we knew of this only when we got to the hotel. There was not a reduction on the price or a voucher for the restaurant. Nothing, just a sorry. When you pay almost $1000 plus for 4 nights you expect a bit more, not just a sorry and a big smile. I have really bad knees and this was a big deal. We also didn’t see any attempt for the elevator to be repaired during our 5 day stay there. I live in a building with an elevator and when it is broken, the company is there the same day fixing it. Very disappointing!

I traveled to Amherst by myself to see my daughter. This is cute town and a lovely hotel. I have stayed here before and enjoyed it so booked it again. Location is great, rooms are all different & parking is available- though it’s hit or miss on whether you can find a spot. There is fireplace, many books available, and restaurant and an outside patio with fireplace. Always feel safe coming here. Very charming.

We had a delightful time at the Inn on Boltwood. It is a lovely property, and our room was in pristine condition with attractive fabrics and art, and everything feeling very fresh. It is the staff working here, however, that make it so special. Edward at the front desk went above and beyond the call of duty, and is a gem! He made our stay very special, and helped us celebrate a friend's history with the Inn in a wonderful way.||Dinner at 30 Boltwood was even better than we remembered from prior visits. Attentive but never overbearing service from a professional and knowledgeable server. Had the new ahi dish on the menu, and it was an outstanding combination of flavors with perfectly prepared ahi, street corn emulsion, spaghetti squash, and a sweet serano pepper jam. Would make the trip worthwhile just to have had this dinner.||We are looking forward to enjoying reading in the welcoming library replete with comfortable chairs, a chess board, and a roaring fire. Highly recommend the Inn on Boltwood.

Charming Historic building. Tiny elevator. Friendly staff. Dined here also. Inside and outside dining. Also a cocktail lounge area. Convenient street parking. Lovely common areas inside and out. Operational fireplaces. We had a king bed room with fireplace. I would stay here again.

It was a quaint and cute hotel and had a lot going for it. Unfortunately, for being expensive, it's a bit tired. The staff are not very friendly or helpful. We sat in the parlor room and the chairs were all torn up- terrible! We wanted coffee and went to the front desk where the clerk was playing solitaire. When we asked if there was coffee or hot cocoa we were told to go to the bar and order it and it would be delivered to us- we were surprised that she didn't stand up and offer to take care of it for us. Customer service training should be a focus. There are a lot of places to stay and we should feel that we made the right choice in staying here and spending money here but we don't. Hopefully employee training as well as some repairs will be done so that customers can benefit.

I so wanted to love this, quaint, historic place. If my daughter chooses Amherst, then I would most likely stay here again. But next time, I'm going to have some requests. There's no place as close to the college as the Inn on Bolton. It's literally on campus and probably part of his problem, is run by the college. It's really expensive. Yet, the rooms are small and awkward. Plus it's a bit of a labyrinth and I feel too little twin girls are gonna pop out at any moment and scream redrum at me. When we checked in at 2 AM, exhausted from our cross-country trip, and a one hour drive, the receptionist sent us to the wrong wing, and when I went downstairs, he sent me back up, saying I just didn't see it. I had to go down and have him come upstairs to help us find our room only to discover it wasn't where he sent us at all. Next, there was no bottled water in the entire building, not to buy or what is customarily complementary in a hotel of this price range The very polite guy went onto explain that it was because they hadn't received their shipment of water. I'm confused because I sure did pass Walmart, Target a grocery store and a Trader Joe's just minutes from here. But alas no one thought to go get water. Their parking lot is a four minute walk from the hotel. You may hit the jackpot and get one of the 45 spots right in front of the hotel. We didn't. Boo!! Also, they are saving money by not cleaning the rooms daily. I think that's BS but it would've at least been nice for them to tell us a check in. I found a gray hair on the comforter which was not ours. Gross!!! They do have a fancy, highfaluting Molecule air filter that I did not steal. I don't love this place and I wouldn't recommend it for any other reason then if you were spending multiple days on campus. If I come again, I will request daily service and also request to be in the west wing.

I still what a wonderful experience classy, warm, elegant inviting inviting service was perfection. Enjoy drinking the lobby next to the fireplace.

I have been coming to the holiday tea for the last three years with my granddaughters. This year the tea was delicious, however the sandwich selection was not as good as previous years. The deviled egg with caviar wasn't a good choice for a tea. The cucumber sandwich was delicious as was the lobster roll. The desserts though nice to look at weren't that good. The price escalated a great deal up ($21) from 2022. Which makes it out of reach for many. The harpist was excellent as always and added a great deal to the enjoyment of the tea. I would prefer simpler sandwiches and a more reasonable price.

Had a reservation for Thanksgiving through open table, received an email stating the reservation was canceled by the restaurant on 11/5. Never received any calls or anything prior to this, now have to scramble for Thanksgiving dinner plans ...

We got married at the Inn on Boltwood and had an incredible experience from beginning to end! To Catherine, Jeff, Cory, Sarah, Mitch and all of the dedicated staff at the Inn, we cannot thank you enough for making our day such a dream come true. We had our rehearsal dinner in the greenhouse room at 30 Boltwood the night prior and the food was incredible. We tried 30 Boltwood last year and both agreed that you truly cannot go wrong with any menu item - and my God you haven't lived until you have had their Mac and cheese. We had the 3 course meal with a choice of 3 entrees and both of our families have not stopped talking about it! We had multiple people who have allergies or restrictions and they were accommodated throughout the weekend, which was such a relief as they were able to just enjoy themselves fully. Sarah was an incredible help throughout the dinner and ensured we were all taken care of. We made the decision to move to an outdoor cocktail hour and tented reception due to COVID-19 mask mandates in Amherst, but you seriously could not tell it was not what we originally planned. We felt so secure that our plans would come to life in the hands of the staff, and we were so happy with how everything turned out! Our guests raved about the venue location, the passed hors d'oeuvres and the dinner selection and the staff were beyond communicative - again, Catherine was a HUGE help, from getting us champagne glasses, to general check ins, and helping get stains out of my wife's dress not one but two different times...Both of us have worked for wedding events and in the food service industry in the past and know just how much needs to go on behind the scenes to make an event successful. Their staff worked incredibly hard and provided such an incredible wedding during the heart of the pandemic, which is no easy task. Their flexibility and attention to detail were clear throughout the weekend and made every difference for us. It was an absolutely perfect weekend, which ticked every box for us and we cannot wait to come back for anniversary celebrations!

I wanted to love this place! It is in a nice location and has the appearance being a quintessential New England inn. Our visit was for one night only, so I initially didn't mind paying the higher cost for what appeared to be a nice place. I know that it is a historic building, but everything seemed dated and dingy. Our room was small and just meh. There was a long dark hair (didn't belong to any of us) in the ice bucket when I went to fill it. The bathroom was tiny and not didn't feel exceptionally clean. We did enjoy the games provided in the game room! With all that said, we were enjoying our stay until around 4:50AM when the fire alarm went off (one of the main reasons we wanted a night away was to enjoy an excuse to sleep in). Thankfully, there wasn't a fire, but we had to sleepily make our way outside to wait for the fire department to give us the okay to head back inside. About 20 minutes later we were allowed back in the building. By this time we were wide awake. I understand that things happen. However, the disappointing part was that this inconvenience was never acknowledged by the staff at any time. The staff was friendly during our stay, but never once did anyone comment on the event. I figured that the night staff was probably just trying to process the event. But in the morning, when we checked out, there was no mention ever that we had all been roused from our beds in the middle of the night (or very early hours of the morning - depending on how you look at it) and forced to stand outside in our pajamas. Needless to say, this would not be my first choice in the event we ever visit that area again. A simple "sorry for the inconvenience" would have been appreciated. Pretending that nothing happened is not good customer service.

The inn on Boltwood has the charm and history to be a best place to stay in the area. The restaurant is also one of the better places to eat in town. With the history comes the challenge of providing for and meeting the expectations of contemporary,premium level travelers. The location is optimal for those visiting for local events and college drop offs or ceremonies. Due to the buildings age it has some patina. No they don't have a pool, spa or a huge well equipped gym but the grounds and facilities transport you back in time and make a stay feel special and unique in a traditional New England way. On a practical level, beds are fine, rooms are pretty clean. The small gym gets the job done. The lobby sitting room has a nice fireplace. I could do without the incense burning, maybe a few nice candles or infuser with a more appropriate traditional New England scent, but that's just my personal opinion.

Such a cute formal area, treated us very nicely. Beautiful space. Food was delicious.

Only four stars because they changed the name from the Lord Jeffery Inn. I had been coming here since I was a kid, as my grandparents were professors at UMass Amherst. More recently, my daughter was a track recruit at Amherst College so of course, this is where I wanted to stay. The interior has been completely renovated from the old days, eliminating a bit of the old school charm. Still, nostalgia and the prime location had me at five stars. Very recently, the name of the establishment was changed to the Inn at Boltwood because Lord Jeffery had a bit of a mixed history (according to today's standards) back in a colonial times. This falls into the camp of judging historical actors in the context of modern values, which drives all sorts of dubious decisions. But I digress... The room was charming with an enclose porch that was drafty. It's pretty much impossible to get to your room without encountering stairs, but that's ok for us. Parking out back was reasonably convenient, but the spaces are tight. The dining room is contemporary.

went to a luncheon for about 20 people and we had a few options, Salmon, Beef or Pasta. The Salmon was well received. The beef was awful. tough, difficult to cut even with steak knives and over cooked. Not only could i not finish my beef but I couldn't cut through it. Staff was wonderful!

Stayed here for a family wedding this past weekend. Very disappointed. Room was damp and rugs were stained and needed to be replaced. At over $300 per night I was expecting so much more

We went for a wedding. The property is frankly worn out. The rooms look like someone's forgotten guest room. The carpets were filthy, the bathroom (which was minuscule) plug didn't work. There was peeling paint, the furniture looked like it was purchased at a tag sale and the beds were lumpy! The food at the reception was inedible and had been prepared so far in advance that the mashed potatoes were welded to the plate. All this for $500+

We absolutely adore Inn on Boltwood. So much in fact, we are hosting our wedding here this June 2020! The inn itself is gorgeous. Beautiful wood flooring throughout, huge fireplaces in the rooms and the library, beautiful intricate design pieces throughout and lots of parking availability. The beds in the hotel rooms are very nice, just a bit too hard for my preference. The staff is attentive and very accommodating and the banquets staff is extraordinary. If you're looking to have a wedding in this area, look no further. IOB has amazing wedding packages at a great value and Catherine from banquets is a total rockstar! The food and restaurant at IOB are amazing as well. Great wine selection, gorgeous bar and delicious salads made with flavorful, fresh produce and vegetables - never any wilted lettuce or mushy tomatoes here. They have talented chefs and it's all farm to table. We love everything about this place and highly recommend for a stay, meal or wedding!

Overall, as expected, and lovely, but they really need to rethink the food offering. Should have breakfast buffet option, rather than a limited sit-down service. Breakfast should be easy and not a project.

The Lord Jeffrey's Inn was really nice. It has that classical colonial feel (and the small ceilings that go with that) but it has been updated with fast wi fi, electronics, great water pressure in the plumbing, comfortable beds, and gas fireplaces that run. The coffee service is nice and there is a library/study for meetings with friends/family. The suite was spacious and tastefully appointed. What was really great was the central location near the town square and a number of great institutions (coffee shops, restaurants, banks, etc) and a great little farmer's market on certain days of the week, featuring the usual options of fruit, veggies, artisan breads, and a few crafts. If/when I visit Amherst again I will want to return here, was a great place to stay.

The inn itself deserves a solid four stars, however the staff is not up to par. First, we booked a room for what we did not know was "reunion weekend" and arrived tired after a long drive to discover that there was no place to park our car. The clerk at the desk offered no help, basically just shrugged and said "it's reunion weekend." Then, we discovered, when we unloaded our entire carload of possessions, that our room had no elevator access. It is unfathomable to me that an inn can take a phone reservation and not at any point ask about mobility issues when they know some of their rooms require people to take staircases. We finally lugged our things to our room. I do not understand the point of having a fireplace in a room and not organizing the space so you can see the fireplace - why have a desk in front of it? Other than that the suite was cute, even though the ceiling was sloped and I kept hitting my head on it. The final indignity was heading to the bar after we unpacked for a drink and a snack only to find that no employees were there, we had to go to the front desk 15 minutes later and ask if someone could be found. After checkout I discovered that they billed me for someone else's lunch - UGH!

A delightful hotel in the center of Amherst. A very attentive staff, good food, and a great bar. I look forward to a return visit. I stayed in a 3rd floor single (queen) room. Well decorated and fitting for the age of the Inn. Off street parking is available

Favorite place to stay in Amherst! Convenient to town and grounds are beautiful - quintessential New England inn. The manager that helped us with an issue we had with the room was very understanding and accommodating. Can't wait to return!

My family was planning a trip to the Amherst area for a wedding, and decided on the Inn on Boltwood for our stay. Eric answered the phone when I called the morning of our reservation and not only listened to my requests, but made sure that they were all followed through with upon our arrival; the air conditioning was turned on, the pullout bed was made, and the room was ready on time so that we could change quickly and make it to the wedding on time. We enjoyed two great meals at the restaurant, and parking was very easy! We also received great customer service from Emily.

My friend had a baby shower here. It was beautifully decorated and the brunch that was served was delicious! It was very spacious. The waiters were also very good and attentive. My friend was pregnant, so her temperature was all over the place and they were very accommodating, and adjusted the temperature whenever she had requested it. The only reason this spot is a four vice five star is the parking. We had to drive around awhile for a spot to open up. I just wish they had a decent parking lot, espceially since they do have events there.

We stayed at the Lord Jeffery Inn as a convenient spot to visit the nearby Amherst College. Our room was well appointed and cozy on a chilly, rainy night. It's an easy walk into the cute town of Amherst. Our only complaint: the complimentary tea and coffee. The water for tea hadn't been replaced from the previous day. So it was tepid. It's a small detail but disappointing when you are expecting a hot cup of tea!

I had the pleasure of attending a recent wedding at the Lord Jeffery Inn. These are my observations. Great butler passed canapés /hors d ouevers wine selection was good (however bartender was pleasant, long line but opened wine upon order when there was 20 people waiting a drink, also cutting drink garnish to order. During dinner- no water, coffee served (i had to get my own?) not informed that coffee or tea was available (it out side lobby) wow when ceremony was over (no one from the inn directing guests to dinning room. it was an awkward moment. why have a champagne glass on the table (when it wasn't served for a toast) Wedding was great (people nice) venue a wow -but need proper service training.

When New Englanders talk about New England, the Lord Jeffery Inn atmosphere is what they mean: Wooden floors partially covered with classic rugs that give a satisfying creak in some spots; Blue & white decor; Overly fluffy pillows; White wainscotting; White tile and powder blue decor in the bathrooms; Old style sink faucets; And in all places, a seamless mix between these traditional elements and modern luxury (e.g. the flatscreen TV, walk-in shower, and energy-saving appliances). When you stay here, you can imagine that you went to prep school and played lacrosse, that you wear pearls and cardigans, and that you shop at JCrew. Service is great and the location can't be beat. I wish that I'd had the opportunity to stay for more than one night; this Inn more than matches the quality and convenience of a major hotel chain.

Amazing! We felt so blessed to stay here for our wedding weekend. Jennifer was our contact at the Lord Jeff, and she was extremely welcoming and helpful for all of our planning needs. We had our rehearsal dinner and breakfast at the Lord Jeff, and the food was really yummy. Some people mentioned, "Best salmon I have ever had." Compliments to the chef. The atmosphere was really lovely too... the library, rooftop and dining areas are all beautiful, simply decorated, and yet have an invitation to relax and feel 'at home.' The room was really neat with a fire place, plenty good-smelling shampoos and lotions, and a comfy bed to lounge on after a long wedding night of dancing. Jennifer even left a note for us in our room and the staff really treated us like kings and queens. I recommend staying here for all occasions and ask for Jennifer if you are planning to have a wedding there! Don't forget to order the salmon...

We got married at the Lord Jeffery Inn July 2014. My husband and I booked this venue because we met and went to school at nearby UMass Amherst. The Lord Jeff was a beautiful backdrop for our special day. We had an outdoor ceremony, rooftop cocktail hour, and ballroom reception. Overall, our wedding was a dream come true. Venue & Guest Rooms: everything about the Lord Jeff is new and beautiful, modern yet historic. Our guests enjoyed the convenient location and access to the entire Inn on our wedding day with no other events booked. That said- it was a bit more expensive and some of our guests chose to stay at other area hotels. Food: the food and beverages were delicious! We passed appetizers and served a buffet dinner at our wedding. Everyone had plenty to eat and drink- bride and groom included (which doesn't always happen!) We also had good food and service at the Boltwood Restaurant and when getting ready on wedding day. Service: My only caveat is some lack of attention to detail. I am extremely detail oriented and might notice some things more than others, but a few decor pieces and timeline elements were a bit off on wedding day. Shout-outs: Amanda was my go-to for planning- from booking to menu choices and last minute details, she patiently answered my questions and respectfully gave suggestions. She handles bride anxiety with class and ease ;) I would definitely recommend the Lord Jeff to any engaged couples who want a romantic and intimate setting for their wedding. I am looking forward to celebrating anniversaries there in the future.

Yummy roasted pear and Gorgonzola salad! Best French fries in the state! Cheesecake was divine!

We stayed for one night and were intrigued with the mix of old and new--a classic remake of a historical building. The finishes were lovely, including the multiple stuffed pillows, gorgeous fluffy bed coverings, classic bathroom fixtures and tile, etc. Our room key also functioned as a centrally-controlled "green" electricity on/off switch, which was an excellent part of the renovations. Another touch of luxury was the gas fireplace, which started with just a flick of a wall switch. The hotel is located in the town square and is very convenient to everything. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and wanted to make sure that we had whatever we needed, slept well, etc. This was a lovely place to stay. My only negative comment is that the Lord Jeffrey has more of a hotel feel, compared to a b&b. In other words, it didn't feel homey, even though the staff served coffee and tea in the lobby and regularly pointed out a drawing room/parlour, which was available to guests who wished to talk, meet others, etc. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and considered it a treat.

We were in town for my son's rugby tournament and while the team stayed at the Howard Johnson's, we stayed here. Beautiful, charming inn with an amazingly good restaurant! We loved the breakfast so much we came back for dinner and loved it! The service was excellent. The bar scene was vibrant. They were also able to accommodate an early check-in by more than 4 hours! So very nice!

We had our wedding at the Inn on Boltwood this past weekend and I cannot say enough about the venue itself and especially the staff - from event planning to check in to reception. We were incredibly impressed with the staff at every step of the process. They accommodated every request we had, were friendly and personable during every interaction and helped to ensure our big day went off without a hitch. I could not have asked for a better place to get married! We can't wait to go back for our anniversary!

Very disappointing lunch. Blt had greasy bread, old limp lettuce, tomato bitts, aioli, that ruined taste even more. Muscles were good, however bread was tooth breaking in hardness. Also if you don't eat cheese forget about finding a sandwich on menu

I haven't been here in about 8 years, and now I can probably appreciate it... but their renovations are beautiful! I was here for a rehearsal dinner and it was lovely. The food was delicious and they were able to cater to our gluten free needs. Being a gluten free baker, I was curious as to where they bought their gluten free cookies from. The waiter (WISH i remembered his name!) was so kind and asked the executive chef (pastry chef went home) about the recipe because there were house-made. He returned with a photo-copy of the recipe with a hand written note from the executive chef. How personable! When and if I am back home and need to entertain people with some good food, service, and ambiance, this inn will be high on my list!!

I recently had my bridal shower at the Lord Jeffrey Inn, and it was beautiful! You can't beat the location, decor, and service. The setting is very elegant, and the events team is friendly, professional, and able to work well with any questions, specific requests, etc. The only downside was that some expired juices made their way onto the buffet line, but that was quickly remedied when pointed out to the Inn staff. I would definitely recommend this venue for anyone looking to host a special event.

What a surprise. I am attending a professional conference being held at The Lord Jeffery Inn. I knew nothing about it before arrival. I booked a queen room at the conference rate. What a gem! My room is a bit small but perfect for just me. I think a couple would do well as long as you know the rooms aren't huge. My room has a gas fireplace and it's a corner room so the natural light is amazing. The bed and all the furnishings are top notch. I even noticed the window treatments. Perfect. The bathroom is bright and fresh. Not huge but perfectly appointed. The atmosphere here at the Inn is comfortable yet elegant. Fresh and updated while maintaining its historic charm. The grounds are beautiful. Looks a perfect location for a wedding. All in all, I would love to return here. Downtown amherst is great to walk around and right now it's quiet since colleges are in summer mode.

We had a great stay at the Lord Jeffery. In town for a wedding, we were traveling with our 4 & 6 yo and the double suite was perfect for traveling with kids. Both beds were in the same room but the living area was completely separate (unlike other "suites" where it's just a half wall) so it worked great for hanging out after the kids were asleep. The hotel itself was charming and well kept. We had drinks at Boltwood and loved the outdoor fireplace seating. Staff friendly and accommodating, we'd definitely stay here again.

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks and I am yet to hear back from the Lord Jeffery Inn with an explanation of why the day of experience was so terrible. It is clear that the customer satisfaction is not at the top of their priority list. We hosted a private event for 45 at Lord Jeffery Inn at the end of April and are extremely disappointed with our overall experience. Overall the BEO did not match the day of event set up. It was as if it was not even updated and read when people were setting up the event. No event manager present (as outlined in contract) Cocktail tables on the patio were in the contract but not set up. Beverages were not set up where described prior to event. Items were missing from the selection on the day of. Plates were not cleared by served in a timely manner. The mother of the bride and groom had to clear plates. Audio was not set up at al. We had to request and remind attendants. It ended up being set up as guests arrived. It is a pretty Inn but lacks in the professionalism in staff. When our point of contact was out we dealt with a substitute. It quickly became clear that she did not want to deal with us at all. Very rude and rushed through encounters. If you do wish to work with the Inn make sure to arrive early to ensure the set up and details are covered or bring in a professional.

A lovely stay. We'll be back! Nice, helpful staff; lovely, cozy room; good food, and well located in the center of Amherst. One complaint: the rooms have no individual coffee/tea makers, which is fine, but what was provided in the lobby was not terribly hot and disappeared at 11 (some of us sleep late! and would like access to coffee...)

If you need to stay in the 5 college area, this place is great. It was my first time staying here, and I have to say I was impressed with how this place has renovated itself and managed to find a balance between modern touches and loyalty to the past. Conveniently located at the edge of Amherst's campus and in the middle of the town of Amherst, it is easy to walk many places to eat and relax. If you bring a car, parking is included. Wireless is complimentary as well. The staff are courteous and friendly, and you can relax in the library or sitting space on the first floor. The library includes many books related to Amherst and Valley history. Tea and coffee are available in the morning, and if you need something more, many options are available within walking distance. Our room was clean and well attended. Really, what more can you ask for? Note: the wood floors means sound travels, so if you stay here, please be courteous and quiet to respect your upstairs or downstairs neighbors!

A nice place in many ways of course. But man, it's just REALLY expensive for what you get. Room was fine, but air conditioner blew loudly and seemed inconsistent as to when it would come on and off. Loud enough to make it hard to sleep. Also, our room was right across from the elevator which dinged pretty loudly, especially early in the morning. Not sure there is much to be done about either of these issues, but they affected our experience of staying in the room. And then, did I say it's expensive..?

What a lovely hotel! The staff is spectacularly well trained. Kudos to Danielle at the front desk who patiently showed me several rooms - mine was very nice, but lacking a tub, (btw the bathrooms are beautiful - just wish more of them had tubs!). The rooms are homey without being kitschy and very "smart" energy-wise. The staff and particularly the bartendress at 30 Boltwood, the hotel's beautiful restaurant, were polite, intelligent and gracious - themes that seem to run through The Lord Jeffrey Inn.

Excellent rooms, restaurant, and staff....actually the best staff/service I have ever had.. extremely helpful, insightful, and informative.

Nice historic inn with tasteful décor. Lobby is somewhat formal while sitting room/common area is comfortable, relaxed and quiet. We were in town during the busy back-to-school season and that could be the reason why service wasn't as good as it could have been. Nothing serious - no paper towels in women's restroom, no cups at morning coffee service, and coffee urn was empty. Interesting geo-thermal energy system in Inn means you have to leave your room key in receptacle on your room's wall to keep power on. A little inconvenient when you want to leave your room. Breakfast service outside on the patio was slow and not very attentive, although there was only one other table with guests.

Left behind a pair of my favorite earrings and they were overnighted to me. Thanks so much!

It is a nice inn. I like the idea of the old house feel, and the suite with a bathtub gave our family what we needed. Unfortunately, the room just wasn't clean. There was tons of dust everywhere. The bed was well made, and there were nice towels, etc., but they really just do a surface job. The hardwood floors really showed the dust, and it looked like the furniture hadn't been moved and cleaned around in years. Piles of dust just built up around it. A little water spilled on the floor, and when we wiped it up, the towel turned black from the dirt on the floor. We got the suite because we needed to use the pullout couch to accommodate everyone, and the blanket for that bed was dirty and covered with hair. We had to get a new set from the front desk. They also didn't have enough hangers for the closet. Parking was easy, and the location was nice. We stopped into the lovely restaurant for dessert one night, and we were warmly greeted and brought drinks right away, but after a half hour of waiting for the dessert to arrive, and our server never coming back, we just left without it. When we went to check out, there was an $89 restaurant charge on our bill. I said we didn't eat at the restaurant, and the person at the desk went through their copies of the receipts and found that it was actually someone else's. He was very nice and removed it.

I stayed at the Lord Jeffrey Inn while attending a conference. All of the staff I encountered were kind, however, the room was not what I had expected. I was only there for two nights -- I left early each morning for the conference and returned after 10:30 pm each night -- so I was not inclined to seek out a staff member to report my concerns. Perhaps many could have been rectified if I had. The inn is beautiful, but my experience was more in keeping with a cheap motel. Although most of my complaints are minor, there are several. 1. I could not access the inn's complimentary wifi, although I had no trouble at other businesses in the area. 2. The towels were very coarse -- almost abrasive to sensitive skin. 3. The empty facial tissue container was not filled. 4. And, in my opinion the worst worse offense was that the comforter cover was soiled. It was not stained, it was soiled. Obviously, these are not changed between guests, which is something I definitely would have expected. Overall, the room did not feel "fresh". If I had been asked about my stay upon check out I would have said something, but I was not asked. Although it is a lovely inn in a great location, I will not stay there again.

Excellent visit. In town to check out Am. College and have a little vacation. The hotel room and atmosphere were wonderful, and the staff were friendly but not intrusive. We fit our family of four (including two teens) easily into our room. The location was perfect. We were going to stay just one night, but really enjoyed the hotel and Amherst, so we stayed an extra night. We highly recommend the hotel.

The Lord Jeffery Inn provided our family and friends with the perfect venue to celebrate our daughters wedding. This was our third of four children to marry and we could not have been happier. Amanda Long, Jeff Renaud and all the staff were exceptional. The Lord Jeffery is a stunning location, with well- appointed accommodations, and beautiful on-site photographic opportunities. Our event was professionally managed. All we had to do was relax and enjoy the moments. Thank you for a memory to last a lifetime!
