Had a terrific weekend stay here in January 2019. Jan was a delightful host and we had a very nice view of SF Bay from our room. Our room was spotless and comfortable and we enjoyed the ambiance of a neighborhood rather than the hustle and bustle of Union Square or the Financial District. The SF Muni underground and trams were a short block away, so it was very easy getting around the city. Our stay was over a three day holiday weekend and we were able to park our car on an adjoining residential street. The Inn on Castro earns its high ratings.

The Inn is very conveniently located, within walking distance to a lot of different food and drinks options in Castro, maybe a 20 minute walk to the heart of the Mission, and near public transit -- so it's very easy to get around the city without a car. The building itself and the inside decor have a lot of charm as well, and everything is very clean. My favorite part was probably breakfast, with freshly cooked vegetarian-friendly options, a selection of fruit, cereal and bread, and fun conversations with Jan (the owner) and other guests. Would definitely stay here again when I am back in SF!

I've had the great pleasure to stay at Inn on Castro for well over 10 years. It's my home away from home in San Francisco, and with good reason. If I'm at the Inn or at the self-catered apartments, it's always a great stay. Jan is an amazing host who makes sure you feel welcome and is always available for helpful neighborhood & city hints for the first timer or the seasoned visitor as myself. If there is a drawback to staying at the apartments is that you don't get to enjoy the amazing breakfast and discussions around the table. If you're looking for a true San Francisco experience- the Inn on Castro is for you.

I'll just say the same thing I said on TripAdvisor, after staying there for my second time last weekend: If you love San Francisco and the Castro, at Inn on Castro you'll find the perfect location and host, and it's actually affordable. Jan will personally cook you a wonderful breakfast each morning, and you can chat with the other friendly guests around the large breakfast table. Jan has a lot of knowledge and advice about things you might like to do in SF, and is a welcoming and thoughtful host in every way. The building and rooms are very comfortable and cozy, with all sorts of interesting, artistic, and thoughtful touches.

I cannot add too much to what other reviewers have written about this gem of an option for your stay in San Francisco, whether for a single night or long-term. Jan is the ultimate host who provides you with clean, bright accommodations, a hearty, unique breakfast (two delicious choices plus a specialty "bread" every morning), excellent advice about travel around the area and a clever, engaging wit. You will feel entirely at home in a positive, affirming and relaxed ambience. My spouse and I intend to return often.

The best thing of this place is definitely the owner. Such an amazing person in an amazing entourage, super well located. Great deco details (fresh flowers, fresh drinks, super breakfast, amazing conversation) most rooms are great. Beds are comfortable. Just make sure that if you get the green room you know there's street noise and the bathroom and we are outside the room.

Absolutely marvelous experience. Beautiful patio. The room was very lovely, with large floor to ceiling mirror closet doors. So close in to the Castro, 30second walk. Our hostess was very personable and friendly. I will surely miss this joint. 😍❤❤❤❤

I stayed at the Inn on Castro for a weekend during May of 2016. The amenities were great and the special attention to the decor made this a very inviting place to stay. The shining star of this establishment, however, was the assistant inn keeper. He was attentive to my every need, vigilant in making sure my experience was the best it could be, and engaged me in some great conversation when I had some time to chill in the inn's common area. I'll definitely be stopping by here again if I find myself staying in the city.
