What to Eat at Silver Spring’s Anticipated New Food Hall | Eater DC

"I noted Omaha’s Inner Rail Food Hall hosted the Kathmandu Momo Nepalese dumpling pop-up in 2019, which HHQ highlights as a success story." - Tierney Plumb

Great choices of food we were there on a Sunday lunch I was surprised how many people are there. It's hard to find the table to sit. You can sit at the counter in front of the restaurant vendor. They have a Mediterranean at the end of the line that's pretty good. We enjoyed our lunch there. One advantage of this specific location is there is a multi-story garage attached to it, you can walk through the garage right into this food hall. And in the heat your car stays cool. I will be back I like the variety location a bit noisy but good food.

"Inner Rail Food Hall in Omaha is a hidden gem! I recently visited with friends and was blown away by the variety of food vendors. From classic American burgers to Tibetan momos, Mediterranean cuisine, and sushi, there's something for everyone. The atmosphere is lively and fun, with plenty of seating areas to enjoy your food. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the prices are reasonable. My only suggestion would be to improve the decor a bit, but overall, it's a great spot to grab a bite and hang out. Highly recommend checking it out! 👌"

Google
Awesome place to hang out when the weather is nice . Great selection of food and drinks. Lots of activities and amenities from a dog park, cornhole, adjacent playgrounds, plenty of outdoor seating in space to stretch out with your friends.

Google
A fun place to take yourself or a group as there are multiple little restaurant fronts inside. Parking and entry were easy. It's well lit and has nice large windows for light within The Rail. There is a nice bar to sit at and enjoy a drink, or you can choose from ample table choices in the spacious dining area. We chose two different dining options. Mexican and Greek. The tables were clean to choose from and you drop your used plates, trays, and rubbish off in the specified areas when done. I'm sure we will go back to try the other food front options.

Google
Plenty of choices for food, busy, attentive bar and both indoor and outdoor seating. The parking garage was free and connected to the inner rail so it was very convenient. We ordered online after getting a drink and the food was ready quickly. Very clean and well kept area. We intend to visit again before these restaurants launch their own locations so we have the choices. Fun options.

Google
This place has different kinds of foods. Large seating area. Self service. Quite a busy place

hello C.

Google
Several vendors to choose from! We ate at Zaytuna! Was great, good gluten-free options

Google
They carry the best sea moss in the area inside the grove juicery. I love it for all my nutrition & collagen needs

Yelp
Visiting Omaha and staying in the aksarben area with two teenagers we were looking for a fun place to try. A friend recommended the food hall so we headed down there on a weekend night. The place was packed. It took us a bit to decide what we wanted, but settled on a few different options and went outside to patio seating as the inside was completely full. Unfortunately, it was quite windy when we were there but that's not something that can be avoided. I tend to like food halls as it gives lots of different options to try. This one seemed OK enough, but not sure I would go back or say that it's a must try.

Yelp
It's really nice out here. Love that there's a communal outdoor area to sit and hang out. There's games or feel free to bring your own. Lots of food and drink options, but be prepared to wait as it's always busy. I love that people can bring their dogs here and just hang out.
google avatar

Tasha G.

Yelp
Too chaotic nowhere to sit...this place has too much going on. Extremely loud and the wait times are ridiculous. I probably would never visit this place ever again.

Yelp
I love coming to the Inner Rail Food Hall because they always switch out the restaurants and I love trying new things! My family and I decided to try All-American Burger since it wasn't here the last time we ate at the Inner Rail. The fries were pretty good and the burger was not too bad either, but nothing special. The food came out pretty quickly and the person taking our order was efficient. We found open seating right away and it was a nice day so the doors were open!
google avatar

Yelp
This is such a great hangout spot with food options for everyone. The food is of all different cuisines and there's a full bar. They also have a great patio for nicer days and usually always have events going on in the evenings like trivia or music bingo. It does get busy but there's lots of seating. My favorite spots here are Kathmandu or tiny's pizza.
google avatar

Leah W.

Yelp
Lots of options and great place to go especially in the summer. Love going to Kathmandu station and getting their momo's. Really a great place to go and eat and people can get exactly what they want.

Yelp
Food court but make it fancy ! Tucked in the parking garage next to HDR, the Inner Rail food hall offers diverse options to cater to different tastes .Lots of seating both indoor and outdoor and Tons of great options for food and a full bar. It's a great spot to go with a bigger group so that everyone gets to pick what they like . The options range from Hamburgers to Mediterranean , Thai and more . We ordered from Kathmandu Momo which apparently is their second location and also got drinks from the bar . Food and drinks all matched our expectations .

Yelp
The Inner Rail is such a great spot to grab a bite and a drink. This is exactly what the Aksarben area needed. The food options within the Inner Rail are revolving, and I feel like there is always a new option for me to try. I can't think of a time that I tried something here I didn't like. There are a variety of seating options, both indoor and outdoor. I was happy when I arrived last weekend to see the wood structures and pergolas set up outside. This area had a tendency to become a wind tunnel on blustery days, so this was the perfect addition. I also like that you can get your food to go and sit in the turf or grass area near Sonnys or in the Sonnys pergola area, which is gorgeous.

Yelp
Since I've last been to Inner Rail, I think they've stepped their game up. All of the various food vendors looked delicious last night, seasonal cocktails from the bar were delicious, and even though it was busy we could still find a seat. Still a fantastic place to meet up for drinks and dinner in Aksarben

Yelp
This food hall is so cute! I love all the different food options provided here. I would say the space feels overall small, but thankfully there's also other restaurants in the area so you're not only limited to the restaurants in the food hall if there is no seating. Parking wasn't too painful on a Friday night. Ambience was nice, although I can see seating being a bit difficult to get if the place is overly crowded. Prices are reasonable and some of the food can be a hit or miss. Definitely still a great spot to checkout here in Omaha! My friends and I got the Hot Girl Pizza and the Chicken Momos. The pizza at first was a bit salty (from the mini pepperoni) and was a tad too greasy for my personal liking. I did like how thin the slices were. I would give the pizza a 7/10. Quite decent, but not as spectacular as actual NY style pizza. The chicken momos were alright. I did feel the classic sauce paired well with them. I'm glad I got to try them, but not anything memorable in my opinion.

Yelp
LOVE this spot!!! There is something for everyone one, and their pop up spot is fun and new. The service at every counter was great. We had no complaints about any of the food at our table, and the drinks are delicious too!
google avatar

Sabrina D.

Yelp
It's always fun to pop in and see what local flavors are available. Our outstanding favorite lately has been Zaytuna - flavorful and fresh, usually pretty quick service, and comparable pricing.

Yelp
There have been so many new additions to IRFH since my last review. It's so much more lively! It seems, as I often co-work here, that more and more folks are making this their go-to lunch spot, and happy hour watering hole. The new coffee shop, offers more than just coffee, I was able to snag a Grove juice. I tried Yoshu thai kitchen, and the pad thai was incredible! I didn't even think to add double chicken, and when I opened it, it was packed full of chicken. I can't wait to try the official hot dog of Omaha, Willie Dogs! Backstretch Bar continue to offer season cocktails and special. The patio is currently under construction but when it's done this will be such a great year round spot. Centrally located, connected to a parking garage? There isn't anything they're not offering right now.

Yelp
This was a fun place with plenty of culinary options and friendly staff. I love all the plants around the bar- a good call with all the snowy cold weather!

Yelp
I stopped to grab lunch with a friend and I was so happy to see so many restaurants with ranges of food! I've been here a few times in the past but I hadn't been in a while and I'm happy that the options of sandwiches, pizza, poke bowls, and ramen are still living large. This was so convenient for both of us so we can grab something that both of us enjoyed. I really liked Sammy's Sub Shop, they cut the meat fresh in front of you similar to little king or Jersey mikes. The staff made sure that the toppings were to our liking by asking if there were any changes we wanted to make with additional toppings or subbing some out. If you go I highly recommend the lemonade here! It was so refreshing and not too sweet!

Yelp
This is a great spot to come enjoy on a nice day. The atmosphere is lively and bright. With covered tables outside and indoor seating as well. We enjoyed our time at the bar and were able to watch the nba finals on the tvs inside. The margaritas were very tasty and they had a few flavors to choose from. It was very busy so we were patient for service but when received, all staff was very accommodating and kind. This is a casual vibe option when you can't decide what to eat. The food offered ranges from burgers to ramen, surely something for everyone.

Yelp
Great for work parties- a little taste of everything. A little pricey, but the quality is there.

Yelp
Love the food hall concept. There is a nice indoor/outdoor continuum and the bar was really well decorated. There is bags, pingpong and teqball just outside and makes for a really enjoyable experience. I got the lobster roll from one of the spots and loved it!

Yelp
Great place to gather for lunch and dinner. Everyone has a variety of options to choose from. We chose Zaytuna Mediterranean and I had the Chicken Special. Sliced chicken over rice. Served with white sauce. Choice of soup or salad PLUS a can of beverage at a great price! The gentleman who waited on us was very impressive; excellent customer service.

Yelp
Great food hall in Aksarben. Tons of great options and a full bar. I chose the thai kitchen store front. I got some chicken satay and pad thai with chicken. Overall the chicken satay was very good with savory notes and was great with the sweet and salty peanut sauce. Chick was not spicy but well seasoned. Pad thai was great the only thing I would change is there was not enough peanuts to add a nice texture. It was well seasoned and had a nice level of spice. Chicken was nice and tender. Service was great at all levels.

Yelp
We were staying in the area and weren't feeling too adventurous, so this was absolutely perfect. It's basically a 21st century food court - a big open seating area with 6-7 different vendors providing a wide range of food options. I get the impression that vendors may change, but right now they have folks providing pizza, burgers, Thai, Mediterranean, deli/cafe, and momo. Since we knew all the rest, we decided to try the momo, since we had never even heard of this before (Nepali region dumpling variation). On the recommendation of the vendor, we tried the fried momo with chicken and steamed with pork - I also decided to try their glass noodle salad. They have a range of sauces you can try, including a "flight" of several. We went with the mild of their sauce and mango habanero. The hall provides water and glasses, but there's also a bar that was pretty busy by 5 on a Friday afternoon. The food was ready in about 15 minutes and there's plenty of seating, both inside and out. We enjoyed the momo - they were a nice size (two good bites each) and even though we ordered the small of each, it was a challenge to finish them all! I liked the mango habanero sauce better than the other, but both were good. The salad was generous, topped with some kind of nut, green onion, and maybe red onion? Honestly, I was too hungry to look closely and it was tasty. There's plenty of free parking in the adjacent parking garage and this place is easy to find. Bonus - there's a French bakery across the patio that had amazing gelato, macarons, and chocolate. This was a nice find - definitely recommend!

Yelp
Ok so...both the pizza, and burger spots are different since my last review. There have been many visits in between and I gotta say, this is definitely one of the go-to spots when the group can't decide on one place. The outdoor space is really a vibe when the weather is warm and the only thing that I would change is providing some shade. A few umbrellas or maybe those shade sails in some strategic spots would be a whole mood. I mean the sun is great, but she can be a little annoying. It's hard to comment on the service because it varies at each restaurant.

Yelp
I've been away from Yelp for a bit (sucks getting old). But I'm trying to catch up, so here goes... While visiting Favorite Daughter (yes, only daughter!) in Omaha, we went out to a wonderful Farmers' Market, then decided to hit brunch. The Inner Rail Food Hall was near by. We've been there before, but I've never had the chance to review it. It's not a single restaurant, but a conglomeration of stalls featuring a variety of foods (I'll review the specific stalls we grazed at separately). It's a great concept - kind of like a mall food court but without the mall. Better yet, the individual restaurants aren't big-name intergalactic chains; they're a bunch of eclectic local places, each with small (and non-competing) menus. Seating is common, and service is counter-style. This was my third visit over a two-year period. Some of the restaurants have changed, but what hasn't is that I have yet to order anything that wasn't fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. (Including lobster rolls from a vendor that has sadly since left - change being the only constant in life). The company that owns the hall has others in other cities, but unfortunately, not in my home town. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Yelp
Today at 2:40pm we Stood at the bar for 10 minutes without a simple greeting even. One of the girls working walks past us several times, then grabs a clip board writing something down, then grabs a rag to clean stuff right in front of us. Another patron asks her for another beer and she says "I can't I'm cut" and the other sloth bartender was making a drink an hour. A lady across the bar from us smiled at me, shook her shoulders and shook her head at the "service" she was seeing at the bar. Never again are we coming here. Service has always been horrible and that was the last straw. Good job girls!

L H.

Yelp
Get the new taco spot! Their home made sauces are great toppings. Also the Mexican fries were tasty. Probably my favorite spot in there now. Good place for dinner with coworkers

Yelp
I absolutely love this concept. We met here for lunch and we're all able to choose what we wanted to eat. I would love to come back in the summer. I chose the Spicy Tofu Poke Bowl from Nori and it was delicious. My friend had the lobster roll from the Lobster place.
google avatar

Kaeli E.

Yelp
I was on the fence about this place since there were some mixed reviews but I'm glad my friends and I went. The burgers from Smash are very good. Especially if you enjoy truffle mayo. My fiancé and I had the best truffle mayo in Amsterdam and this reminded us of it. The fries are similar to five guys and salted perfectly. The burger is fresh and one of the best burgers we've had in Omaha. We even came back the next day. Their prices are on the higher side but worth it if you enjoy a quality burger. And even then it's a good price ($14.5) for a double cheeseburger and a good amount of fries. This is a very fun hangout place, since there's a bit of everything. We would've liked to have tried the lobster roll but at $25 and no sides, we didn't feel it was worth it. Will definitely make this place one of our go to spots to eat!

Ingrid F.

Yelp
Lots of food choices! Great place to bring a family to eat out. I had the momo, ramen, and chicken sekuwa. The momo was tasty. The ramen noodles were like somen noodles or thin spaghetti noodles. I would definitely go back for the momos.

Yelp
I've been wanting to dine at the Inner Rail Food Hall since CBS Sunday Morning did a story on food halls in the fall of 2019 and introduced the recently opened Inner Rail to the world outside of Omaha. When I walked up to the Inner Rail, I was immediately surprised how small it was. Only 10 restaurants. I guess a tv camera makes things seem bigger. Having arrived on a Sunday morning around 11am, I was uncertain where to start my dining excursion. So I headed to the bar and asked the bartender who had the best food. What I was getting ready to do is try as much Inner Rail food as my stomach would allow. I accepted I might not be able to finish everything I ordered. My first stop was Momo Station for its seven-piece pork dumplings. Yum! Next was the Sofra Creperie for its California Breakfast Crepe with eggs, white cheddar, bacon, avocado and tomatoes. Healthy, beautifully prepared food. Now it was time to order a classic Margherita Pizza cooked in the coal-fired pizza oven at Noli's Pizzeria. That was a true New York City pizza. For my final stop, I headed to Nori Sushi. I ordered the Tuna Poke Bowl, served with edamame, cucumber, and avocado. It brought back memories of my trips to Hawaii. I'm curious how long these food halls will last. Certainly, some restaurants will come and go. The restaurant industry is brutal on startups. Several of the Inner Rail restaurants have other locations, which gives hope that these will have a long life
google avatar

Isaiah G.

Yelp
We found this place on yelp and decided to come here. There's plenty of parking all around. There's a lot of restaurants all around. When you go into the food market there's a lot of seating and the restaurants are along the wall. I like that the restaurants are pretty different. I got a poke bowl and my husband got a hamburger. Overall really good experience. Recommend this place . Good place to come to if you and your parents are in different moods you can find a happy medium.
google avatar

Jeffrey L.

Yelp
My second and first eat in experience here. The place is definitely hopping on a Sunday afternoon Of course I go to the same place as last time, Kathmandu Momo Station. I'm a glutton for momos! Lol the Soup Momos are delicious, I opted for pork. The hot and soup broth is very good. I was within earshot that Bloody Mary were on special. Twist my arm! All quality food properiters located here. Service was very good. Parking is a snap at Aksarben Village. Quite the trifecta with Nolis, Kathmandu Momo Station and dessert at Culprit Cafe. Bets are on this place will continue to be successful. Long live Aksarben.

Yelp
Fun environment and nice people! You can go to study, for a meal or just for drinks. I love all the difference options that they have!
google avatar

Yelp
I think the Inner Rail is such a great concept and they really could do a good job at creating a fun atmosphere. It is my go to recommendation when we have family in town or a large group of people. It is nice to be able to eat what you would like and not have to compromise. The only complaint that I have is that there has been quite a bit of turnover with businesses. Some of the places that I really enjoyed eating at are now gone. Collectively, they have some good options still but I wish that they could keep their vacancies at a minimum. Another perk of going there is that they always have parking. If you want to meet friends sometimes going down to Blackstone or downtown gets to be a pain while searching for a spot. It's really nice that they have ample street parking as well as a garage.
google avatar

Walter W.

Yelp
This review is strictly about The Backstretch Bar and not any other lovely vendors at Inner Rail. Backstretch bar does not have a Yelp or Google Review so I am reviewing them here. I had a bad experience at the Backstretch Bar at Inner Rail. The bartending dude made the worst mojito i've ever had. How? - Leaves were going bad, as you can see by the picture. - Soda was flat - There was no fresh lime - No sugar/simple syrup Mojito tasted like flat soda water with Bacardi. Do not come to this bar, they are more worried about getting your order out than taking the time to make a quality drink. A bartender that cannot make a basic mojito is an epic failure in my opinion. I also ordered Guinness on tap because it was happy hour. Also flat. Will not order a drink here again.
google avatar

Joshua R.

Yelp
It gives you a variety of food to choose from and enjoy. It's a little loud. But it's what can be expected in a dinning hall. All in all a good place to get something to eat in the heart of Aksarben.
google avatar

Lou M.

Yelp
Love this place. Always a good vibe and plenty of food options. Easy to get to and parking is good too.

Yelp
This food hall aka trendy food court is a great addition to the Aksarben/Central Omaha area. It's got very diverse pickings for food, much like the similar concept "Flagship Commons" in the Westroads Mall. 10 years ago, Omaha would have had trouble supporting these diverse types of cuisine in a trendy food court setting and now it's always busy with people who have expanded palettes. Currently, the vendors here range from Indian, Nepalese (Momo's Dumplings), Vietnamese (Banh Mi), to American favorites like pizza (Noli's) and burgers/ice cream/creperie/coffee. They even have a bar here with booze and live music at certain times. I commend them on the use of real dishware to reduce PAPER/PLASTIC/STYROFOAM AND SINGLE USE WASTE. Love that they are trying to be more environmentally conscious. Also, the bathrooms do not have paper towels which is a real good step in the right direction. The outdoor patio will be delightful when the weather gets nicer!
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
The food hall is always an upbeat and busy place! I had the spicy smash burger from Smash City w/fries. Food came quick and hit the spot. Grilled Jalapeños and pepper Jack cheese is right up my alley. The smash burger had a beautiful char on it, that you don't get with a regular patty. The fries seemed fresh cut!

Yelp
Finally visited this new standalone food Hall in Aksarben Village...parking, restaurants, coffee, desserts, what else can you really ask for? Choices include Indian, burgers, pizza, bahn mi, crepes, tacos, momos, ramen, coffee, ice cream, and a bar...And I'm sure I'm missing more! Really, this place has SO many choices. Seating is great, with plenty of tables for the lunch rush, as well as some bartop seating (and high chairs for the families!). Easily accessible from the main strip of Aksarben Village, and a great place for families who can't come to a consensus on where to eat. I haven't tried all the places yet, but I'm a huge fan of the Bahn Mi Shop (also a shop in Bellevue), Nolis (shop in Blackstone), and Kathmandu Momo Station. Also had a dessert crepe from Sofra Creperie...chocolate peanut butter, and yeah, obviously that was delicious. Whether you're in the mood for pizza, a burgers a light bite, or just a coffee, this place has it all. Only note I'd add is that the restaurants with other locations don't have their full menus here, since it is a smaller space.
google avatar

Yelp
So glad I decided to exit my comfort zone here in Aksarben. Been visiting here many times this year for work and am always looking for the next great food stop. I tried the Indian food at @Maharaniindiankitchen tonight as I was so pleasantly overwhelmed by the scent of their cuisine. They did not disappoint. Tried the Tiki Masala Chicken at a level 8 and it was delightful. Garlic Naan was also prepared fresh and hot. Capped it off with a refreshing local Nebraska craft beer from @backstretchbar for a nice reasonable dinner in the area.

Yelp
Finally visited! We went late, around 9 as they close at 10, so it wasn't too terribly crowded. A little weird going through an actual business to get to the food hall; sorta got a college/school feel. Not a whole lot of seating in doors, but plenty outdoors. We tried the So Cal Crepe and the traditional Chicken Tandori with garlic naan. Both were pleasantly good. I did want to try the creamery there, but they close up way before closing tome so maybe another day. The bar itself is amazing, except the bar tender didn't seem like she wanted to be there. Perhaps the weather, I don't know. It appeared an on-site flagship manager was on location, sitting at the bar most of the night, with a perpetual look of concern; so wasn't too sure if we should be concerned, or... But if you're looking for a place where adults can get out; try it! Not too much of a choice for kids, which I ain't mad about.

Yelp
Ok so went to the inner rail today for lunch. Must say it was very good and a hard choice. I went for the Lemongrass Bahn mi salad. It was absolutely yummy. The pickled veggies on it made it so fresh and crisp. The wife went for the Mexican carnitas flat bread. I can't wait to try all the places inside and have a cocktail next time. Food prices are very decent there. Next time it will be the Indian food. It smelled incredible!!!! Place is nice. Don't go from 11:40 am - 1pm very crowded as it's new and lots of business peeps there.

Yelp
We decided to take our boys to try more options. My youngest loved his burger and asked to go back! My oldest said his coconut curry was delicious! My husband enjoyed his steak tacos, and I was stuffed after my crepe overall I think it's somewhat pricey but very tasty! If you don't mind spending $10+ per meal I highly recommend this. You so much to choose from: Mexican, Indian, Italian, crepes, burgers, sushi, ramen, coffee, and bar items. We've tried all of the vendors now except the ramen and love them all!
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
It's a food hall, so good for groups and people who like different things. The space itself is nice, but its very loud.

Yelp
So happy Omaha now has a food hall like this in town! I've been waiting for something like this to hit our city, how exciting.. It was a great experience I got to share with my family. I enjoyed Hola's protein bowl, that was a hit with the fam! The chips weren't the best, but the quac offset the hard chips. Then one of my favorite dishes... butter chicken, yummmm. I'm always on the hunt for the best in town. Unfortunately, I was let down by the chicken being dry, but the flavor was good. I work in Aksarben and have seen the inner rail since it first opened and have watched the transition of different restaurants come and go. I have to say though I like Hola and the option of Indian all in one place!
google avatar

Abigail W.

Yelp
I love the Aksarben area and inner rail is great! Awesome in the summer when you can sit outside and talk with friends! You're sure to find something you like and they have a huge variety of foods and fun things you may not see other places! I went for my free meal through Yelp and got a protein/ rice bowl from Hola: Mexican Eatery - really good and the queso was yummy. My bff got a noodle dish from the Kathmondo Momo Station that was also very tasty

Jaci E.

Yelp
We were in Omaha, going to the zoo. Wanted to find some thing unique for supper. Came across this in our search what a wonderful place we all had something different from the different vendors. All food was wonderful. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Derek M.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped by on Saturday because she had a Yelp Ellie Event. I liked the idea of multiple vendors in one location to help with conflicting food preferences. I really enjoyed my sushi sampler that we used with her event ticket. The sushi tasted fresh like what I lived in Okinawa.

Yelp
This place is great! It's kind of like an elevated food court and has so many different options. Great for a group of people with different tastes! Atmosphere is happenin! Lunch times and weekends are usually pretty busy but lines are quick and there is plenty of seating. Especially on the fun patio with the big garage doors are open! 10/10 recommend checking this out- it won't disappoint!
