Fresh dimsum available 1st and 3rd Fridays at Annie's Soul Food Eatery, with plans to serve fresh dimsum in the El Sereno area soon.
I've posted on Yelp before but really want to support this small business because the food is absolutely delicious and the chef literally spends countless hours (usually by herself) making her food with love.
My favorites:
1. Lo Mai Gai - sticky rice in lotus leaves
This is my favorite dish of all time that even I make on my own, and Chef Moni has PERFECTED THE FLAVOR AND TEXTURE. I love it when the rice is flavorful and if I could only eat this for the rest of my life I would. I tried this at her most recent popup and it was even better than when I first ordered in October of 2019.
2. Siu Mai - I bet this is everyone's favorite and for good reason. Just try it and thank Chef Moni later.
3. Bbq pork puff- the pastry is so crispy I was shocked I was eating a vegan dish. Even better than the first time I tried in 2019. Again, my non-vegan friends were amazed.
4. Egg less tart , now in original, ube, and matcha
I can tell Moni is constantly listening to feedback and improving her recipes because the tart was crispy and delicious. Tastes just like the non vegan originals, but better because of the delicious flavors. I will try matcha next time!
You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, and if she still has the bento boxes available, definitely order it!
Because this is an extremely small business without it's own storefront or kitchen, don't be surprised or angry if it might take a while to get your food. I waited quite a while in my car because it was an especially busy day, and despite it all, the food was absolutely delicious and I will still come back for more. Definitely try to be accommodating because she is basically a one woman show and doesn't have all the resources to churn out food like a supply line with dirt cheap prices. Chef Moni is super busy and puts her heart and soul into the work. If you follow inomoni's instagram you will see all the behind the scenes, and all the work she puts in.
Sending love and hope Inomoni continues to thrive and expand!
