9 Best Breweries in Northeast Minneapolis | Eater Twin Cities

"Insight is a story of legends, and each story reads like the launch of a Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Each of their brews is connected to a global story that have spread and morphed over barroom pints across the world. Twists on traditional beer styles include Hell Chicken is a session summertime pale ale using yuzu juice and Sunken City features a white wine yeast that gives a deeper body to the farmhouse ale style." - Eater Staff

Google
Really great space and beer! This is a go-to for me when meeting up with friends. I've tried several of their beers and all have been tasty. I had their seasonal Shamrock Shake most recently and that was super delicious. Plus the layout of the brewery has a nice flow and the space is comfortable with good lighting. Their lot provides easy and convenient parking too. Great brewery!

My boyfriend and I are very frequent brewery-goers and we have somehow turned into semi-beer-snobs so we tend to ask questions. Our dog also has grown to expect treats every time we go to a brewery. Kai gave us in-depth detail about every beer we asked about, his personal recommendations, gave us samples, gave our dog some treats, and completely made our experience here. We love our beers, our dog loves her treats, and we are all leaving home over the moon!

Google
Insight is a fun and quality brewery and tap room that I've been going to for several years. They collaborate with food trucks, so there's always some unique food options right outside.

I like this place a lot. We always gather with our friends here and spend a couple of hours together with great beer and snacks. They also have bingo every Monday, which is so much fun

Google
Great place to take a break and sip on one of the best brews in Minneapolis. They have a great selection of drinks and there is always a food truck offering something spectacular to compliment the experience. Board games are available if that’s your thing or if you happen to bring the kids along. Insight has tons of seating indoors and a decent sized shaded patio. Staff is amazing! Additionally, they had Frida's food truck serving up Latin American cuisine. Frida's might just have the best tacos in Minneapolis! I ordered the vegan option. They were so good I have had those tacos on my mind ever since. It was a lot of food, perhaps even shareable, 3 tacos for $10! That is unheard of these days. Food was high quality, expertly prepared and SO DELISH! I will definitely dine at Fridas over and over again.

Insight Brewing and Taproom is a large, expansive, local taproom, with polite and friendly staff behind the bar. There are lots and lots of seating options, including a suedo "living room" showing movies, long "Munich Oktoberfest" style high-top tables, bar stools at the long and curving bar, and a number of intimate booths and cubbie areas to snuggle up with your "significant other". Insight has a large parking lot located on the West side of the facility, and is convenient in location being just a couple of blocks west of 280. Atmosphere is down-home comfortable, with a good mix of ages throughout the taproom. Great vibe! Dogs are certainly allowed, and there were many of them present last night. The taproom offers a wide variety of beers on tap, including 6 - 7 THC seltzers and limited release collab beers. There are also a couple of kombucha and soda NA options. Only downside for me last night was the strong smell of cleaning fluids wafting throughout the brewery. Granted, I showed up approximately 1.5 hours prior to closing, so the staff was cleaning up prior to close. But it was a strong smell just the same, and messed up my taste of the otherwise delicious beers I had there last night (I tried the Level Up, a classic American Pale Ale and their Night Shift - a delicious, heavy, dark and semi-sweet porter). In terms of the cleaning smell, I am thankful that they ARE cleaning the taproom with the strong chemicals! Good health for all! Overall, great experience at Insight!

Love the beer and the pizza made onsite is great. GF option. Nicely designed open space. Table games galore. $2 off from 3 to 6 PM weekdays. Can't beat that. Good vibe here. Janis the plant is here if you need someone to socialize with. See pic.

Been here a few times and the barman Kai has made the experience. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and we will be back for sure! It’s a great environment there too and decent beer though I miss the Drift beer!

Yelp
Great little spot for any occasional! The Baja blast slushies were a favorite! Great for those hot summer days

Yelp
Patio is fantastic and outdoor bar! Inside also has a large bar area. Plenty of other seating as well. Rotating food trucks daily. Good variety of beverages even for the non beer drinker. Friendly service but bartender could not explain why my $6 beer came to $7.81, said 12% tax, I assume gratuity but it asked for that too? Anyways great chill spot worth stopping by.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on a Saturday afternoon, without kids. I had delicious beers and we played cribbage. I had the critically excited, vibe, and slam dunkleweizen. We played cribbage in a booth, great place to hang out. They had an outdoor patio too. Also had tabs if you wanted to do some gambling. Skol.

Yelp
Went last night with a pal! Monday night bingo drew in a lot of people, so the place was popping. Had a couple beers and tried the loaded fries from the food truck. Fries were a little overpriced, but still worth it. Will return!

Yelp
Another year another Pub Pass. I love that they allow dogs so we brought our grand pup. Lots of pups hanging with the owners. Great beer and great staff. It is so helpful when the staff recommends beer based on my mood. I chose the Drift, looking for an easy to drink hoppy beer and it was very good. We got a snack from the food truck and played a game of Euchre while we enjoyed the beer. Laid back, relaxing afternoon.

Yelp
Another brewery checked off the list! I had the hazy IPA and picked up a couple crowlers for at home. They have plenty of good beers and tons of seating. Bartenders are nice and they even have a food truck some days. Parking can be a little tricky due to the small lot. I want to come back in the summer, their patio looks nice.

Yelp
Insight is such a solid place to go for a beer. They have a lot of variety to find something for everyone. Well made beers and friendly beertenders. They do a lot of fun events, which, for me, sets them apart and makes me prone to return visits. Goats in the parking lot, pop up markets, Mario Kart 64 on the projector, beer release parties with local sports figures on occasion, and much more.

Yelp
On the quest for a good taproom to take your kids, this place is top of the list. The indoor space is huge with a nice tucked away area with couches and games. Easy to keep your kids contained and entertained while you enjoy a few beverages.....speaking of beverages, I love that they have a wide variety of options. Their IPAs are usually pretty good, but I generally always have to try their rotating tap. Parking is easy, and there is an outside patio!

Yelp
I love Insight! They have always had a great selection of beer and I always like trying their new seasonal flavors. The space is pretty big and has a cool industrial feel. The staff is always super friendly and willing to answer any questions. They also usually have a food truck or they serve pizza when they don't. I personally really like their pizza and get sad when a food truck is there because then they don't serve it haha. I'm usually an IPA drinker and they haven't disappointed in that department yet. They also have a stout I really like because it doesn't taste like coffee. I bought my wedding dress right down the road so it became a thing to stop in here after each appointment and I always looked forward to it! In the summer they have a nice patio space. Oh also, I think they have a nice couch seating area if you want to have a private party. Looked like they had Mario Kart set up for entertainment. Overall a must stop brewery in the Twin Cities!

Yelp
A big taproom with to go beers ready in a cooler and staff wondering throughout we're just a few reasons I'll absolutely be coming back. We visited during their 5th anniversary and although it was packed, the flow of the lines to get beer were a breeze. I tried 3 beers during this visit. The first two were their special released barrel Raspberry Vanilla and Coffee cake beers. These were dark beers with powerful whiskey/bourbon heat in the undertones. Unfortunately they were not more than a one time order for myself. My final and now new favorite is their Banshee Cutter. A coffee golden ale that was smooth, flavorful and not bitter or too hoppy. It's a great sipping beer and light enough to order a couple more. I opted for the nitro pour and it's easily my favorite way to enjoy a coffee style beer. The staff was polite/calm and handled the craziness of the event with ease. Glasses and trash was consistently being taken out. I can't wait to visit again.

Yelp
WHO: Myself, two of my besties, and their cute little family! WHAT: Beer o'clock! WHEN: Two weeks ago! WHERE: Insight Brewing of course! WHY: The perfect opportunity to scope out the local brewery scene! Seeking to take-in some of the Twin Cities brewery scene my fellow brewery-goers and I decided to stop by and give Insight Brewing a try. I loved the space! The inside is very open with a slightly industrial-modern feel. They have an assortment of games to play during your visit too. We chose to head outside and take up some of the sunny weather on the moderately sized patio. They have a variety of food trucks that set-up shop out front. During our visit Lu's Sandwich, a Vietnamese truck arrived. The brews were fun an creative. I sampled Crazy Aunt which is a gin and tonic style ale. So unique! Def one of those polarizing brews though; you'll either love it or hate it. While I really enjoyed the unique flavor, I just wasn't in the mood for a full pour of it; so I opted to sip on the Sunken City. Sunken City is a saison with Sauvignon blanc grapes. It was quite tasty! Others in our little group opted for Splendid Moose and the Lager. The only thing we found a bit awkward during our visit were the beertenders. When we approached the bar to browse the tap list they asked us if "we knew what we'd like", when we said "no", that it was our first visit", they turned their backs and continued a conversation they were having. It just struck all of us as odd because typically when you say it's your first visit somewhere they offer assistance with their menu or make recommendations based on the styles you enjoy. Oh well, I didn't find it as off putting as others in my group. I def enjoyed my visit to Insight Brewing and would gladly come back to sample more of their offerings on a future visit to Minnesota! Cheers!

Yelp
SO good! We have a Pub Pass so we can try different breweries out. Tonight we got our first stamp in our pub pass and we both really enjoyed our beers. The raspberry pineapple tart wheat was VERY good. Even got a can to bring home. We will be back for sure!

Yelp
Very nice! And in our neighborhood. Yeah. Very comfortable. Small. Friendly staff. Good vibe.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and a large taproom with plenty of seating! In Northeast Minneapolis! I've drive. By this area many times and never saw this place until now. The brewery has a wide selection of beers also for every taste. I really enjoyed the Banshee Cutter which had a surprisingly nice coffee /malty taste for a lighter beer.

Yelp
Love the nitro drinks! Awesome dog friendly location. Not as crowded as one would expect.

Yelp
As the gluten-free friend, I often tag along to breweries with friends who can drink and like to drink beer. We came here as a large group after a kickball game nearby. Cool vibes outside in the patio area and there was a food truck parked there until 9:30 or so. Not a ton of seating outside, so we sat inside--cool corner spot for large groups on sofas in the back. The decor in this place is cool! Lots of games if you have a group that wants to play games, but it does get loud pretty fast in this echo-ey space. They have some good offerings, including Crazy Aunt which is a gin and tonic-tasting beer. You'll either love it or hate it. My bf, the beer connoisseur, really likes Sunken City but isn't a huge fan of Hell Chicken. For the GF friends out there, or just people who don't like/want to drink beer, they have a really cool Arnold Palmer (half lemonade half iced tea) on NITRO. NITRO! It comes in steep at $5 a serving, but the flavor was honestly worth it. It was so creamy and smooth, and made everyone jealous of what I ordered for once! Highly recommend, and cooler than the "artisan sodas" other breweries have for non-alcoholic and non-gluten-filled options.

Yelp
A solid brewery with really good beer. The taps change with the seasons and they do a really nice job offering a large variety of beers. They also have some really creative ones, like a Moscow Mule beer, that are fun to try too. There is usually a food truck on site as well which is a nice bonus.

Yelp
I have had their beer at many different locations in the Twin Cities bur never set foot in their actual facility. I love the interesting flavors of beer that they serve. I have had their Crazy Aunt (gin and tonic beer, yeah crazy!), Cutter (coffee flavored light beer), and Does Eyes (wheat and Cherry beer). Strange combos that make delightful beer. I like how they brave to be different and stand out from other microbreweries. Their beers are organized into three different tiers with different serving options. Their prices are pretty standard to other microbreweries. Their location is trendy, modern and millennial friendly. Their are late tables so hosting groups and meetings here are easy. A good amount of fun board games and fast internet ate available. They also have a tiny t-shirt display shop on site so you can proudly support your favorite brew.
google avatar

Michelle A.

Yelp
Since I can't add a tip, I will add to my review. They won't fill your own growler but take it as an exchange for one of theirs. So if you know of breweries that only fill their own growlers ie: Bald man Brewery in Eagan, don't exchange it.

Yelp
Not all breweries are created equal and everybody likes something different. Insight Brewing has pretty much everything I love. Excellent space that has several different vibes all in one. If you feel like sitting at the bar you can do that or you can find a comfy couch near a window and chillax. They have plenty of games and nice tables to sit at. Lots of artwork on the walls. Cute shirts for sale. Friendly staff. Interesting and creative names for their brews... AND MOST IMPORTANT decent tasting beer. I enjoyed the smoky pumpkin beer yesterday more than I imagined I would---It did leave me craving some smoked almonds as it had a similar flavor. I also had the Lambton Dragon. Loved it. I will return here!

Yelp
Insight just recently celebrated its fourth anniversary and I'm proud to say I've been enjoying their beers for most of those four years. Insight's wheelhouse, like many other breweries, is dabbling in the hoppier beers. Troll Way is one of my favorite IPA's in the Cities, but don't sleep on Dankbot or Splendid Moose either. You can't really go wrong with any of their year-round beers and most of the one-offs or seasonal beers hit their mark as well (e.g., Doe Eyes, Gravity Well and Claw King). I'm also hoping they keep up the efforts to mimic popular cocktails like they have done with Crazy Aunt and Rowdy Uncle. While the taproom itself isn't anything all that unique, it is sizable, accessible and generally a fun place to hangout. Keep doing you Insight.

Yelp
Another great Twin Cities Brewery. Every time I visit Insight Brewery I know I will be in for a tasty beer. Definitely would recommend this spot to try some more unique beers + its a great afternoon/evening hangout spot. Beer Options: They almost always have a good 10-15 beer options of various styles. They have their staple selection + usually a good handful of various seasonal, infusions, or their specialty gravity well beer. Service: If you visit on a busy day, the line does get long but the staff is friendly and efficient. Even when the line appears long it tends to move fast. Atmosphere: They do have ample space in their taproom (+ a small outdoor space if you visit in the summer) and can accommodate groups big and small.BUT it is a popular spot - so expect that you may need to wait a bit in order to land yourself a table. They do offer the ability to reserve a portion of the taproom or some tables if you reach out to them in advance for groups 20+. Food: Every time I have visited they have had a food truck. Parking: They do have a fairly sizable parking lot

Yelp
If I'm reviewing on beers I'd say they're a solid 4, with some fun barrel series creations and their classics. Beer hall is pretty big and lots of space and games to keep occupied. From a service standpoint a little confusing. I understand they don't have wait staff, but there were about 3-4 bartenders around and I would have expected one of them to make the rounds every 30-40 minites to grab glasses and garbage. Almost felt like the bartenders weren't willing to come outside of their enclosures. Food, cups and other mess that was already there stayed on the tables until they closed. Quite surprised their food trucks were done at 8:30 on a Friday night. Perhaps they need to work on getting a better truck partner. Cash pay was confusing. Sometimes my tab was discounted for cash pay and other times not, but paid with cash. I'd say they need a consultant to review their FOH procedures and service level. Breweries is a cut throat market and beer alone can't be the difference maker. Have to look at that extra service levels.

Yelp
Beautiful patio, food trucks out front, good prices for drinks + friendly staff! My friend spilled her beer trying to rip apart some food truck ribs (oops) and they gave her a new one free of charge! Good service can't be beat.

Yelp
Located off Hennepin, this brewery often hosts fun events! The last event we went to, there were goats to pet! How fun! During their events, they usually have some interesting specials so check their website or their events page on Facebook. As far as a regular day, the place is fairly large and a great place to catch up with friends. Use the brewery passport if you're going on a regular day!

Yelp
Insight makes my favorite beer of all time - Sunken City - but I hadn't made it to the brewery until yesterday. When we arrived, I was surprised by how quiet it was (1pm on a Sunday). There was tons of parking, and nobody was out enjoying the patio. By the time we left around 3, it was busy and bustling. I was actually really glad it was so quiet when we arrived, because it meant I could ask all my beer questions without annoying anyone or holding up the line. They have a tiered pricing system, which seems unnecessarily confusing, and a pint of Sunken City was $7. Ouch. The purpose of our visit was to try the new gin and tonic style beer - Crazy Aunt. It definitely tasted like a gin and tonic, but it was super sweet. I'm glad I asked for a taste of it before ordering, because I would have been hard pressed to make it through an entire pint. But it was really fun to try! The ambiance at Insight is great. I love the design of the space, and people clearly enjoy hanging out there! They have a library of board games, and it was obvious that people just make an afternoon of Catan and beer. No argument from my end - that sounds great. And we weren't the only ones with a baby in tow, which is always nice. Based on the website, we were expecting there to be a food truck that day. There wasn't. Luckily they're fine with customers ordering delivery to the brewery, so we had some Jimmy John's there in no time. I may not become a regular at Insight, but we had a great time trying it out!

Yelp
I've been here twice now. Once for a promotional fundraising benefit and again for a drink and snack after work. Staff is pleasant and helpful. The space inside is spacious and clean. They had live music at the back last time and I would have loved to stay and enjoy it. We sat on the patio at our last visit and enjoyed snacks from a food truck. The patio could be nicer. It smelled like gooey movie theater trash. My husband explained that this is what tap lines smell like when they get dirty. Gross, but the drinks tasted fine. One of my favorite breweries near me regardless.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
Really strong lineup of beers. Love the hazy NE style pale ale, "Splendid Moose." "Cutter Banshee" is a delectable coffee Pilsner on nitro. "Dankbot" IPA and others are well-made and well-branded. They also have some more experimental beers that take on typical cocktail territory: think Moscow Mule or Gin and Tonic. Usually can find a food truck outside next to patio seating. Good for groups. The couches in the back corner, furthest from the bar, provide nice, relaxed environment if it's not too crowded.
google avatar

Angie S.

Yelp
The grand opening here was big! The place was packed to the brim with eager beer drinkers and we stood in a line that was more than 20 people long. Surprisingly, it went pretty fast because there is a fairly large bar with multiple pour stations. I decided to go with the Saison de Blanc (8.3% abv), which was delicious. This beer is lighter in color, semi-sweet with some earthy undertones. My friend had the Lamb & Flag , which really might have gone better with some meaty food. Alone, it was kind of deep, and bitter. So, to make up for it, he tried the Yuzu Pale Ale (exclusive here). This fresh and sweeter beer hit the spot and that made his day! I think all beers were $3-6 each. This has to be one of the larger, breweries in town. There were benches, tables and chairs for couples or large groups. There was a band playing in the corner stage, with enough space to dance and let loose. We also got a sneak peak in the back area where the beers are brewed. As usual, they have a rotation of food trucks visiting outside for a select of grub. I will definitely go back here!

Tiana B.

Yelp
Very friendly staff! Happy to always be served with a smile and to enjoy GREAT beer from insight! Sometimes the selection is smaller, but never disappoints. Also, they have an awesome new patio and food trucks on occasion.

Yelp
Another amazing visit to Insight! I have to say the music is always on point at this brewery. Phil is by far my favorite DJ. He always plays the freshest tracks and keeps it hopping. I am so stoked each time he is on duty!!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite tap rooms in the Twin Cities. The space, the food trucks, the beers and varieties, all top notch. Atmosphere - it's got a very casual vibe, open, warm and welcoming. They have a collection of board games if you want to just hang out and roll some dice. The bartenders have always been fun, knowledgeable, and engaging with me, and they have a good rotation of events, including things like Trivia Tuesdays. The other thing I've noticed is the music is always good. A lot of good blues rock and even some of my high school faves like Motion City Soundtrack. Brought me right back to 2006 Food/Drink - the few times I've been there, they've had great food trucks. Last night was Blue Fire Pizza. Mmm mmmm goooood. To compliment the food, the beer is even better. They won Best Brewery in the Twin Cities for a reason. They do a great job developing new, interesting, but not-too-over-the-top brews, and they rotate them pretty frequently. My favorites are the Nitro Banshee Cutter (light pilsner with coffee on the back end, a must try if you like coffee), the Dank Bot (a more traditional IPA) and the Troll Way (a citrusy IPA that's not quite as bitter and even better in the summer). Price - typical pricing for a beer, about $6 a pint. With a $10-20 food order for one person, can't really complain about anything! Overall - this brewery still ranks as one of my favorites. You should check them out!

Yelp
The space is fun, and the beerkeeps are nice. A variety of pretzels are available. The beer...I like it. The attention to detail in their brewing is (at least to me) evident. I don't like all the beers, but I almost never like EVERYTHING a brewery makes. Not a huge fan of the tiered pricing for flights, but I get it. The vibe of the space is very friendly, families and adults without kids were both present in good numbers and both groups appeared comfortable. (My kids balk at going to breweries now...sigh.) All in all it was a great experience, and we'll be back!

Yelp
We are visiting MN and have been hanging out in the suburbs with family. I was craving a craft beer and realized the city was the place to go! Started at Surly and purchased the Pub Pass. Next stop was Insight. I had been drinking Llewd Llama with the relatives in cans and was impressed. Enjoyed the Splendid Moose and pizza from Little Gs food truck. Also had great conversations with staff and new friends. Love the community vibe.

Yelp
I would place this brewery into my top 3 for the Twin Cities. Always have a good rotation of seasonal beers and small batch releases. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. Great beer, great service, and great atmosphere. Always a good time!

Yelp
Hands down my favorite brewery in the metro. There, I said it. Have a nice day :D Really though, Insight has stolen my heart ever since I've tried Crazy Aunt for the first time. I cannot call myself a beer expert by any means; I just kinda know what I like and what I don't. Beer either tastes good to me or it doesn't and when it comes to the selection of beers at Insight, it's just the one place where I enjoy majority of the pours they offer. The above mentioned Crazy Aunt is one of my favorite beers of all time if not my actual favorite. This Gin & Tonic style ale is so refreshing and tad sweet; it's the perfect summer beer. I'm always very sad when it goes away for the winter months; that's why I always try to get my fix in, whether it's at their beautiful taproom or enjoying a tallboy by the pool. Crazy Aunt is very closely followed in favorites by the Rowdy Uncle; newly introduced this year and styled after a Moscow Mule. Just as Crazy Aunt it's refreshing, light, and crisp with delicious ginger and lime undertones. Not too overwhelming but perfectly balanced. These two beers really are the best and they always hit the spot. There's plenty of other amazing offerings like their Banshee Cutter! What a surprise this one was. I hate when there's coffee in my beer. To me, that combo doesn't work and doesn't mesh well. I'm not a huge fan of dark beers in the first place. That's why I was shocked when I found out that Banshee Cutter is a GOLDEN ale but has coffee in it!! What?? And because it's light, it doesn't taste as heavy and smoky as coffee beers tend to. This one is smooth and has an amazing, gentle coffee aftertaste. Insight is doing the coffee beer right! As I mentioned earlier, their tap room is beautiful. It's a huge and welcoming space that somehow still feels cozy and intimate. The wooden tables and booths pair well with the industrial steel detail and brick walls. As you enjoy your liquid gold, you get a view of the actual brewing area right behind a giant glass wall allowing you a peek inside. They have a cute little wooden patio to enjoy in the summer time as well. The bar is spacious and the colorful signs make it easy to order. Feel free to ask for a sample; the employees here are some of the nicest I've ever dealt with and will be more than happy to help you find your match. Or opt for a flight, that way you can try a bit of all the goodness. Visit the board game shelf as well for a good bit of fun to have with your friends during your time here. And definitely check out whatever food truck is parked right outside. Since Insight doesn't have their own food menu, they always have a food truck on hand offering a variety of yumminess. You can look up the food truck calendar on the Insight website. Insight is a brewery I always feel excited to come to even though it's one of the furthest away ones for me. I will always recommend it to everyone because the selection of crafts is outstanding and their flavor is just out of this world. It separates itself from other breweries whose vibes are just a bit boring. Nothing wrong with classic flavors which Insight also has plenty of, but the fun beers are the best ones! The vibe here is always on point and it's a pleasure to hang out and enjoy a nice cold one.

If you're ever in Minneapolis this is a great little brewery to have a beer or two or three or four

Yelp
Found this little gem on Yelp about 1 1/2 miles away from Surly yesterday. I always try to hit all the brewery's that are close in the twin cities and cross them off my list. When I arrived from the get go I enjoyed the friendly bartenders and the speed which they grab are beers so we could get settled into are comfort zone. We opted on a flight of Insights main six for 11.00, or I guess you could say their flagship beers. Pretty much everything we tried was had a great balance of hops and malts and rich flavors. The nice guy who took care of us at the bar also wrote down about 15 new brewery's for us to try while up here visiting from South Carolina. So I would definitely come here if I lived closer as I saw 7.00 growler refills on Mondays which is a steal. Don't forget to ask for some free stickers or coasters to add to your collection. Oh and parking was free and easy !

Yelp
This was our first stop on a 3-stop microbrew tour. While we did get a couple of samples I purchased a Royal Nuisance (a German lager) very tasty. We got a tour of the brewery albeit a shortened version but we got to hear the owner's story which was pretty cool as well as the story of the adventurous beer names. They have a nice patio set-up and lots of high-tops and places to sit indoors. Plus it's always cool when you can see where the brew gets made from the comfort of your bar stool.

Yelp
It's a pretty typical building there, as industrial breweries these days go, but their beers are very individual and unique. We had a couple of the London Porter (on Nitro) and we were definitely pleased. 'Staff pleasant and a whole variety of clientele --- good place!

Yelp
This is a cool place to hangout, especially if you're with a group. They have a wide selection of beer to choose from. If you are hoping to get food, in the evenings they have a food truck available. Overall, solid brewery.

Yelp
Nice sized tap room, good beer, friendly bartenders. The husband and I strolled in here at 11pm this last Friday. Pro tip - one of the few taprooms to close at midnight instead of 11! There were still a decent amount of people inside drinking at the late hour. Some were playing the publicly available games. It's a nice open space with plenty of seating. Their brewing room was dark and lit by a neon blue light on the tanks. Really cool looking. We grabbed spots at the bar - I ordered the saison, my husband the pale (hell chicken I think?) with yuzu (a kind of fruit). I've had the saison before and really enjoy it. The pale was pretty good and the yuzu added a nice touch of sweetness to it, really interesting! Of course as we were sipping these, we noticed the signs on the wall with the beer on tap (we had been looking at the little card on the bar) and both of us point at the Doe Eyes going "omg must try". So we were brought a taster and we immediately knew this was the beer we must have next. De-lish-ous! And it was available in growlers too! I'm happy we finally made it out to Insight. I've had their beers on tap at bars before and have been wanting to get it from the source. A solid addition to the NE brewing scene. It's getting harder to make a decision about which tap room to go to!

Yelp
I went to Insight on Saturday evening with a group of girlfriends. We had just finished dinner at Nea and decided to swing by and check it out. I've tasted Insight brew before and loved it. Still do, matter of fact. But the place is boring. Nothing was happening. It was 9:00 on a Saturday night. It was about 2/3 full, but there was no music, no nothing. Just good beer and a giant room full of people drinking it. You know, that's not necessarily a bad thing - but I was tired from the shenanigans the night before and I needed some stimulation to keep me interested. I drank my beer, then went home. In bed by 11pm. Seriously good beer though. :)

Yelp
Came in here for a quick growler. Was ignored for several minutes.. then the bartender proceeded to wait on people who came up after me... Finally was waited on ordered my small growler for a gift (the smallest one they have was $11...) Bottom line, good beer, bad service, high prices.

Yelp
Staff is rude. I wanted to fill a growler from another replace and they didn't just day nicely "oh sorry we can't do that".. the guy was extremely rude and pretty much yelled at me. The beer is good but it's not great, so it's not worth going there at all. I would suggest dangerous man instead.

Yelp
As with every brewery I review I will start with the nuts and bolts, then get to the beer. The space is great for a brewery. There is plenty of room to cozy up at the bar. You can grab a spot on a couch and chit chat with friends. You can take over a long table and play some games like we do. It is nice to have all that room and options. The space feels inviting and comfortable to just spend some time in. They also (usually) have a food truck on sight too, which eliminates that annoying need to go somewhere else for lunch/dinner. I don't know why more breweries don't take advantage of that great symbiotic relationship. The service is a bit meh for a brewery. I tend to count on breweries having warm and friendly bartenders. They love to talk about their craft and point you towards something you will like. Our first bartender here wasn't thrilled to be working, and couldn't be bothered with recommendations. The next time we came they just seemed spacey and slow. You got such a great space, there should be a smile with the service to go with that space. Now for the beer. I put breweries into one of two categories; classic styles that are done well or beer that pushes limits. I put insight more in the beer that pushes limits category. They make traditional and not so traditional styles of beer but they put some twists on it. They add flavors that you might not normally associate with beer. That can work out really well in some cases, or it can turn out terribly (the Crazy Aunt was not a hit with my gin and tonic loving husband). With that in mind I would say if you aren't a big beer person this is the kind of place that maybe you want to review the menu before coming. It will challenge your taste buds, but the payoff can be very rewarding. I think this is a great brewery for people looking to try some new things. They do a good job making some really unique things. I wouldn't say this would be the best intro brewery, but it is a nice graduation from the first step into beer drinking. 51/100

Yelp
I visited on a whim last Sunday afternoon, and I am so happy I did! I have known about this brewery for a while, but rarely am in the neighborhood. First impression: I was very happy with the spacious parking lot and welcoming interior. There were lots of tables and booths, which I 100% prefer over the bench-style community seating that a lot of breweries have. Despite the long line of people waiting to order, the beertenders were friendly and let my boyfriend and I sample a few beers. I ordered the Crazy Aunt (gin & tonic beer) and fell in love. It tasted like a Moscow Mule with a slight beer aftertaste. YUM. If you have friends that don't like beer but like the fun atmosphere of breweries, this is the brew for them. Also, this place has a Sunday through Thursday happy hour, which I have almost never heard of at a brewery (though sadly the Crazy Aunt is not on HH, but worth full price to me). We will definitely be repeat customers!

Yelp
So I thought I had tried all the breweries around here, but as it turns out there is still another one out there that had escaped my salivating taste buds. The place is very inviting, open and spacious with plenty of sitting options. You can sit at the bar and admire their beer pouring skills, sit on tall tables, regular tables, or cozy up on some couches by the corner. They also have a good selection of board games (hint if you go on a first date this is a great place to go in case your date turns out to be less fun than a visit to the dentist...) As any curious beer enthusiast does when he gets to a new brewery, I ordered a flight to taste all their different beer varieties, and oh boy was I delighted. Even the Porter and IPAs of which I'm not a huge fan were pretty good. Their best beer by far was the Hell Chicken, very refreshing with some floral notes at the end. It was so good I even took a growler home. Which takes me to the Groupon for this place: excellent deal, if you can still snag it I strongly suggest you do. you pretty much get the flight for free. Can't say much about the service, as it's pretty much self-service, you go to the bar and you order what you want. Good brewery, highly recommended.
