Funky, casual coffeehouse serving hot drinks & light food into the wee hours, with WiFi.
"If you’re looking to spend all day in front of your computer, Insomnia is one of the best cafes in the city to do just that. Sure, the coffee itself is nothing to write home about and the sandwiches can be best described as “does the trick,” but that’s besides the point. You’re not here to wax poetic about single-origin blends or foam art techniques - you’re here to plop yourself down at one of their outdoor picnic tables, pen your Rick and Morty spec script, and make the most of your Final Draft free trial." - Kat Hong
"If you’re looking for a fun build-your-own dessert spot, Insomnia Cookies has you covered. This spot in Boystown in Weho has a $32 DIY Cookie’wich, complete with a dozen cookies, a quart of ice cream, and as many toppings as you want. We’d go for a Double Chocolate Crunch cookie with coffee ice cream and cookie dough topping sides, but there are (almost literally) endless combinations you can make." - Brett Keating
"Perfect For Writing: A fast-paced political thriller, or an HBO pilot your agent won’t take seriously. Everyone in Insomnia self-identifies as a writer (especially to their families, repeatedly, during the holidays). There’s a tiny menu and some coffee drinks you’ll purchase in order to receive the wifi password, but none of that matters. What matters is the highest-functioning space in the city for you and your laptop. The furniture is comfy but not too comfy, and there’s an eight-outlet surge protector every few feet, which should resolve any power-cord-turf-war anxiety you might have. The place has great natural light, there’s a no talking rule, and classical musical plays softly in the back." - Brant Cox
