"If you’re looking to spend all day in front of your computer, Insomnia is one of the best cafes in the city to do just that. Sure, the coffee itself is nothing to write home about and the sandwiches can be best described as “does the trick,” but that’s besides the point. You’re not here to wax poetic about single-origin blends or foam art techniques - you’re here to plop yourself down at one of their outdoor picnic tables, pen your Rick and Morty spec script, and make the most of your Final Draft free trial." - Kat Hong

"If you’re looking for a fun build-your-own dessert spot, Insomnia Cookies has you covered. This spot in Boystown in Weho has a $32 DIY Cookie’wich, complete with a dozen cookies, a quart of ice cream, and as many toppings as you want. We’d go for a Double Chocolate Crunch cookie with coffee ice cream and cookie dough topping sides, but there are (almost literally) endless combinations you can make." - Brett Keating

"Perfect For Writing: A fast-paced political thriller, or an HBO pilot your agent won’t take seriously. Everyone in Insomnia self-identifies as a writer (especially to their families, repeatedly, during the holidays). There’s a tiny menu and some coffee drinks you’ll purchase in order to receive the wifi password, but none of that matters. What matters is the highest-functioning space in the city for you and your laptop. The furniture is comfy but not too comfy, and there’s an eight-outlet surge protector every few feet, which should resolve any power-cord-turf-war anxiety you might have. The place has great natural light, there’s a no talking rule, and classical musical plays softly in the back." - Brant Cox

Wow. Stopped by the shop after hearing about some new owners. The people were fantastic both crowd and baristas. To say the baristas knew what they were doing is an understatement. As someone who worked in coffee this place is a phenomenal spot.

Pretty trendy, not really my style but the service was awesome. The staff was professional yet friendly, personable way. It's not quite my style but a great fit for the local culture. It's very pricey for coffee but the quality is very high, they make you feel welcome to sit as long as you like and enjoy their wifi. All in all, a good experience.

Super chill spot with great coffee. I went here to get some work done on my laptop for a few hours and enjoyed my time there! Was able to focus with good vibes and happy customers. The danishes are really tasty too!

Dark, quiet, gloomy, insomniac college art students working on stuff in the wee hours of the night can only describe the atmosphere here. Personally, I like it, but their wifi is pretty slow. Also, the coffee isn't the greatest. Service tends to be a little slow, but that's expected, considering how late this place is open and the crowd that hangs out here. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a quiet place to work. Otherwise, there's better places to go.

Cute cozy place with good coffee. They have a relatively small selection of tasty food. I especially like their pizzas. Insomnia cafe is pretty quiet during weekdays, making it a good place to read or work. Street parking only.

Very unique place. It's has comfortable setting. Noticed many people, upon ordering a drink, stays there for a long time (doing work, studying...). It has college campus atmosphere (My son who attends UCR, wishes that their campus have a cafe similar to insomnia cafe).

I'm a big fan of this place. For me, this is the ideal cafe - Super comfy, good music, fast (secure) internet, open late, plenty of outlets, lots of street parking. You can't go wrong. It is cash only - that's the only potential drawback - but there is an ATM inside, so it's never been a problem.
