"If you’re driving up from the East Bay, Anthony’s Cookies is conveniently located off Interstate 80 in Berkeley. Stop in for some cookies that are perfectly crispy on the outside, and chewy on the inside. They come in flavors like toffee chip, cookies and cream, and walnut chocolate chip - and make for an ideal handheld road trip snack that also keeps well (in case you want to save some for the next day). If you’re coming from the city and also in search of sweet treats for the road, the Mission location of Anthony’s is open, too." - julia chen 1

Hands down the best cookies ever but Mr. “I’m by myself” tonight’s customer service wasn’t appeasing.(1/21/25 8pm) Got a classic 6 pack and turns out they were 1 cookie shy because they ran out. I asked if he can just put a deluxe cookie in there as that’s the only other flavor we like. Absolutely not, no can do. Then told us it’d take 10-15 for a fresh batch of snickerdoodles. We asked to pay the difference (less than $2) for the box change. No can do. No refund no repurchase. Customer service/cash register duties couldn’t possibly be that difficult. He didn’t try to reason/help out at all and repeated multiple times he’s working by himself and there was an earlier rush

If you desire slightly less sweet cookies than Crumbl, then this is the place for you. They probably still have the same caloric intake, except these are more akin to actual cookies rather than cake. It is better to get something like a cookie sandwich since buying the cookie itself lacks novelty, but you still pay for the price of something novel like that at Crumbl. My only complaint about this place's service is quite slow for something as simple as cookies. However, the place is never dirty, which makes waiting for cookies more palpable.

I frequent here often. I usually do online orders but due to how busy you guys are and how long you end up waiting I decided to go in person this time to order. I asked if I could get a pint of ice cream. The gentleman told me that you guys do ice cream by the scoop. So I asked for 2 scoops. However, I've gotten a pint before and there is a pint listed and priced at $14.50 on the physical menu. I'm just curious.... why can't I get a pint? Like I even pointed to the pint that's a displayed as an example... like... I just find it quite interesting that we happen to be people of color my mans black, I am Arab and black, I'm just curious given the results of today, what was the intention behind that?

I went there at 1 am for a nice warm cookie and I got it, but the line was so long. I was about to quit halfway through, but the friendly workers made it worth the wait. Very welcoming and upbeat, keeping the line entertained. Oh and the cookie was amazing. Definitely going back

Google
The cookies were underbaked, and the chocolate chips were too big in the chocolate chip cookies. They must have changed the recipe, which is disappointing if you expect the same result in flavor and taste. The cookies were not well done.

Google
It's next to a university so this location is a student budget friendly location for pocket. However that don't compromise on the quality of the food. I would definitely revisit again.

Google
I went here on 11/6 and dude behind the counter was being weird, wouldn't sell me and my girlfriend a pint, felt targeted. Will not be going here anymore. Annoying that I can't even buy ice cream in peace in Berkeley of all places.

Damn good cookies. Gluten free, vegan chocolate chip was BOMB. And it ain’t easy to make a cookie without those key ingredients.

Yelp
The best cookies I've had in the Bay! My favorite cookie place has always been Antoine's in San Mateo, but Insomnia Cookies is much closer and just as delicious. The ordering process was simple and seamless. I ordered a cookie cake for my daughter's birthday, and they had it ready on time. Parking was a little tricky, but that's typical for this part of Berkeley. My only suggestion would be for Insomnia Cookies to add a chocolate chip with walnuts or pecans--it's the one thing they're missing! Overall, I would definitely support them again.

Yelp
Insomnia Cookies started out in the East Coast then made its way nationwide the past 10+ years. I first tried them at Atlanta actually. They opened a couple stores in SF and now Berkeley! What a great location for college kids to indulge in a warm cookie late at night. I got the classic 12 pack ($32.50) and tried a lot of the flavors. Nothing was my favorite, least favorite was the oatmeal. Bummed out that they didn't have cookies and cream (not sure if it was that only or if they even make it at this location) If there was a universal cookie scale - Insomnia cookies are the softer side, easy to break off almost not holding its shape, a lot thinner compared to other cookies, chewy and buttery/ oily. Forgot to take a pic, but the cookies were just thrown in the box, definitely not nicely placed like in photos. Also nothing that if you were to bring this to party - as the 12 cookies were just thrown in, the box did not look full. I wouldn't say it's the best cookie ever but does the job!

Yelp
Parking is so hard to find here - they were also doing construction right outside so it was impossible. Plenty of great options here and you can order ahead. They have deluxe versions and classics. Prices are okay but a little high in my opinion. Close to campus and great for catering for events. Service was great, the woman that worked there was super helpful. Yummy cookies great when warm - I like to heat them up after getting them.

Veronica J.

Yelp
They had all the cookie flavors but only 2 ice cream flavors . The chocolate ice cream was good, cookie was minty. Service was quick, staff was friendly. Small seating area, but bright & clean

Claire L.

Yelp
These cookies are better than Crumbl in my opinion, as they have a crispier exterior and are not super thick and dense. I have gotten the chocolate peanut butter cup and s'mores cookies, which were both a bit too sweet. I also would have preferred more of a chocolate taste for the peanut butter cup cookie, as it basically just tasted completely like peanut butter. Some nights the line can get quite long, as there is only one cashier. There are a few stools and tables to eat your cookies.

Joey T.

Yelp
Late night hot n ready baked goods!? Say less the cookies are so soft and a decent size. My most favorite flavors are snickerdoodle, oatmeal raisin and the chocolate peanut butter cup! Must try!

Yelp
Insomnia Cookies here just across Bancroft Street from Sather Plaza of the UC Berkeley campus, is a fairly new business, less than 1 year old. It is clean and organized, but perhaps that is because we came during the summer break. I brought my friend's high school sophomore here after giving her a personalized tour of my Alma Mater, as she had visited Stanford a few days earlier, while preparing to enter an east coast boarding school she was transferring to for this fall, and planning her future educational options. ( This girl is bright, focused and ambitious! When I went to Cal years ago, I barely had the grades or scores to qualify entry. My essay of BS must have fooled them, or I was a charity acceptance case, lol). For you college grads of the past 5-10 years in Berkeley or Palo Alto, you remember the long lines for the Cream outlets. Their novel idea was for you to pick an Ice Cream flavor, (like BR 32 flavors for you OGs), then pick a cookie flavor ( like Mrs. Fields, which was started in Palo Alto, for you OGs, or Famous Amos from Hawaii), and they would make it into a sort of It's It ( which is based near SFO on the SF peninsula, also for you OGs). Insomnia puts a twist on that (I think, I am still confused, must be because I am an OG?!). And that is, you pick the Cookie first, then the Ice Cream, and they put it together into, well, er, a new Cream like It's It? Confused, and an Ice Cream purist. I just ordered a cup of 2 flavors, so did my teen companion, or maybe she was just following me to respect her OGs? I did get an Ube flavor, which is definitely a newer, on the rise flava flave (for you semi-OG MTV "D" celebrity trash show watchers) popular Asian based flavor. ( There are many Ube-Fests around California, btw). Service was good and friendly from our server, who took the time to try to explain Insomnia vs Cream to me, but I didn't get it because maybe I am an OG? BTW, the term OG actually works in Japan, too, because Ojiisan (pronounced like OG) in Japanese either means grandfather, or Old Guy. Check out Insomnia Cookies, you can't go wrong with Cookies and Ice Cream, and theirs was pretty good. The sugar rush will keep you up for a while (Insomnia?). But most everyone likes both Ice Cream and Cookies, unless you're trying to lose weight, or you're an OG trying to better manage your A1C. Maybe time to consider OGzembic?

Yelp
Cookies are good. But didn't arrive at n day we need it. We ordered online for the same day and it arrived the next day. We received only 1 of the 7 orders. It's for a birthday get together so I end up ordering other pastries at Edmonds cafe. My boss paid for the insomnia cookies and didn't have time to call to dispute. I knew he paid too much for the order. If anyone orders online please just decline order if you can't deliver on time.

Izzie L.

Yelp
These cookies are so ooey gooey delicious and warm. I got the [salted caramel] and [chocolate chunk] cookies and thought both were pretty good! I liked the salted caramel one more because it balanced out the sweetness of the cookie. The texture of the cookies is somewhat crunchy on the outside, and more soft inside and filling. I thought they were a little expensive for the price and flavor, but overall not too bad! :)

Yelp
Friday, 2023/10/14 00:00 late night cookies - we came for cookies after a party nearby - there were plenty of people inside the store, but the line moved quickly - staff was very upbeat, dancing and singing to music classic 12-pack ($30.00 + $0.50): we got 1 each of the chocolate chunk, double chocolate mint, snickerdoodle, peanut butter chip, classic with M&M's, oatmeal raisin, double chocolate chunk, and white chocolate macadamia and 2 each of the sugar and candy apple - candy apple was a limited-time flavor that costed an extra $0.25 each; interestingly, 1 had chocolate chunks while the other had M&Ms - cookies were served warm, so they were soft with melty chocolate - my favorites were the double chocolate chunk (rich and sweet), peanut butter chip (gooey, strong peanut flavor), white chocolate macadamia (still not as good as the ones from Costco), and snickerdoodle (thinner cookie, not too sweet)

Yelp
With few dessert places near Berkeley's campus, I was excited to get place with cookies AND open late! I've tried Insomnia Cookies before, but didn't really know much about them. The staff is really nice and friendly. I got their CookieMagic subscription ($10/month) which gets you a free classic cookie everyday and a deluxe cookie for $1 (1 a day for both). Considering their cookies are $3-5 each normally, I felt this was a worthwhile investment. I'm probably not going to eat 30 cookies in one month, but it does make for a nice gift to share with friends and co-workers. They have a small retail space under a luxury housing complex and right across from UC Berkeley's campus. Casual vibe and lots of flavors to try. They also have a variety of other offerings like cookie cakes, ice cream, dipping frostings, etc. I'll definitely be back!

Jecy L.

Yelp
My favorite place to get a cookie nearby for a reasonable price. I got the chocolate chunk and it was not too sweet, just perfect. Recommended for a late night snack or craving!

Maureen D.

Yelp
I love how this is open late night! I was able to try the ice cream before getting any which was great! Mel was so sweet and helpful and recommended great flavors in cookies and ice cream. We went pretty last so there wasn't much people but it was nice, clean, and quiet.

Bethe V.

Yelp
We were intrigued by the name when we saw the cute store across the street from UCB. Delighted by the ice cream and cookie options and all the combos! I chose everything that was recommended and it was delish! Mint chocolate ice cream with one peanut butter cookie and a double chocolate cookie and my nephew got a Brookie with chocolate ice cream!! We will be forever full but still talking about how delicious they were!

Leisheung P.

Yelp
Tucked in the back with nothing @ that's open but easy to get to. The next street over on Durant is lively with places to eat that are also open late. Visited @ midnight and there was a steady flow of cookie craving customers ordering. You can order online for faster service where you're able to just pick up and go Cookies were delicious fresh out of the oven. They also have ice cream available to pair with your warm cookies ;)

Ivory B.

Yelp
"Insomnia Cookies is a dream come true for cookie lovers! Their cookies are always warm, gooey, and absolutely delicious. Whether you're craving a classic chocolate chip, a decadent peanut butter cup, or one of their creative seasonal flavors, they never miss. Their delivery service is a game-changer for late-night sweet cravings, and the fact that they stay open so late is a huge bonus. Pairing a fresh cookie with their ice cream is pure perfection. If you haven't tried Insomnia Cookies yet, you're seriously missing out--it's the ultimate treat for any time of day (or night)!"

Tahirah A.

Yelp
I have always had great service here. I've been to two. Both were just small store fronts with us little bit of seating. I love their vegan cookies and chocolate chunk is my favorite. They also have a gluten-free chocolate chip cookie which is vegan. They have so many different flavors with new ones periodically. I wish they had vegan brownies and maybe some cashew based ice cream also. Great cookies always warm and fresh.

Vassean J.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place appears fresh and delicious. When asking about any nut ingredients the girl was super informative and helpful. It was super clean plenty of seating to sit and enjoy your fresh warm cookies.

Debora L.

Yelp
I liked the warm thinner palm sized cookie that was chewy/ more firm on the outside the soft on the middle. It is served warm from a warmer and relatively not too expensive ($3-5?). Clean store, variable service, wasn't that astounding to me but I could see this scratching a midnight craving itch. Reminds me a little bit of mrs fields but thinner.

Halle R.

Yelp
Yessss I'm so glad we finally have an Insomnia Cookies in the area. It was basically the only thing missing in the dessert space. Insomnia makes soft (but not too cake-like) cookies with a great crispy outside. They're not insanely huge like crumbl so a cookie is actually a serving (although they do now have a larger size option if that's your jam). Perfect texture, perfect size, delicious flavor, and actually open at dessert o' clock. Bliss.

Highway G.

Yelp
The cookies are so hot when they are delivered, tastes amazing, and they soft. So glad they open so late

Shaunie G.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time today. The young lady there was really nice. The cookie I got was so soft, warm, big, and super good. It was called confetti. I will for sure be going back.

Tiger P.

Yelp
We got cookies delivered via Doordash. They warm them before sending, which was not kind to the brownie (still delicious but it got a little stale around edges from warming then cooling). And we also were sent 4 fewer cookies than we paid for. But, the reason it's still 5 stars is that we liked the double chocolate vegan cookie and LOVED the chocolate chip vegan cookie and will definitely order again.

Kassi P.

Yelp
This place stays open late which is a plus for late night sweets but there were only TWO ice cream flavors and they were BOTH chocolate. Service was okay. It's also very loud inside and so much construction and and detours it's very hard to get too. Especially late night because it's so confusing people were driving down the wrong way multiple times on one way streets.

Samy A.

Yelp
The cookies are delicious, but they're either ridiculously late, or just never show up. I've ordered twice now, the first time they arrived after 75 minutes when Doordash said 20-30 minutes. The second time they never showed up after 2 hours and 2 calls to the store. Last time I'll order from them.

Elizabeth V.

Yelp
I misordered for pickup instead of delivery while sick and emotionally fragile. Called the store, they were really understanding and fixed it.

Emily M.

Yelp
Do not order through Postmates for this place. I got half of my order, when I called they said they would "make it right" without saying anything else, so I assumed they could use my delivery info from my previous order. I called back an hour later and they said "oh, you have to reorder through Postmates". Now, they're an hour later than they said they'd be (3 hours after my original order), which meant I had to stay at work for an extra two hours, and ended up having to pay more since my order was split in two. You cannot cancel once it's already out for delivery, so I'm out $50. What a waste of time.

Maya C.

Yelp
$20 for a 6 pack of normal sized cookies is honestly just insane. For that price I was expecting large cookies and they were of average sized. Tasted fine like 6/10.

Keegan T.

Yelp
Literally dog shit. If it wasn't packed with sugar they would be out of business. Literally the stalest cookie and brownie I have ever had. Like eating dust.

Param S.

Yelp
The workers are rude which is the first complaint. They service certain patrons "better" based on your gender / race/ status and the ice cream made me sick and gave me a terrible tummy ache It was the "mint choc chip" that I ordered and got me sick. It Must have not been stored properly. Employees are rude and I witnessed them spraying cleaning chemicals straight over the ice cream to clean the windows displaying the ice cream they also make u wait forever as u watch new customers come and go for basic pick up orders like 2 cookies (again they treat certain patrons better than others)

Ashanty M.

Yelp
good soft cookies very yummy with helpful employees we got mint & some chocolate chip cookies very yummy the employees made sure to exceed the customer's expectations!

Em Z.

Yelp
yet another wonderful experience w that girl she doesn't miss also the salted caramel cookie blew my mind yum
