So I'll start with the cookies themselves: They're fine. Perfectly good. 8.7/10, would eat again.
My actual ordering experience has been considerably more negative.
Now. It's entirely possible that both of these were narrowly isolated incidents. I'll open with that.
I've only ordered twice; my work moves me around Dallas a lot, and I can't guarantee that I'll be near them to order and pick up most days, so it's been more like, "Oh, hey, I'm in uptown! Let's do this!"
The first time was at the end of last year. I placed my order online, showed up a little later....
and nobody was there. It took several minutes to call corporate and talk to an actual human being, but per the person I talked to there was no notice the place wasn't going to be open.
So my order was cancelled, refunded, and I was told I'd be issued a gift card. I never saw that, but whatever. It was a wash, and it would be months before I would order again.
Which brings me to yesterday. The night before, my wife and I had put our order together via the app. I showed up a few minutes after I'd scheduled my pickup, and the people behind the counter were confused.
Had I maybe requested from the Deep Ellum location? I checked my e-mail correspondence. No, it was for victory park.
Was I sure I had set my order for myself to pick up and not for someone to deliver? I didn't remember setting a delivery address, so probably not. Again, I checked the email. There were instructions about how I could call when I arrived for curbside delivery.
It turned out that they'd handed my order to some driver who had come by previously. They laughed when they stepped back to the kitchen, called the number on the order--my cell--and I confirmed from the counter that I was there and without the cookies I'd ordered and paid for. They said not to be surprised if I got it delivered at home later--I didn't--but they did acknowledge that it was their fault, and set up a new box.
They also told me that one of the cookies I'd ordered was no longer one they made. They still had it advertised on their wall. Whatever. They replaced those with another cookie.
I came home, and my wife and I tried some of the cookies.
Like I said, they were fine. If someone set them in front of me, I would eat them and enjoy them. The cookies run size-wise in a comfortable place between the smaller, generally softer Tiff's Treats, and the larger Crumbl cookies. The snickerdoodles were a little crispier than I was expecting, but that doesn't make them a bad cookie.
Look. There's a lot of people here who like this place. And I can understand. But I've had some bad experiences here, and while they may just be wacky, unfortunate coincidences I don't think I'll consider them as an option next time I'm in the area.
