Chicago Coffee Company Intelligentsia Opens Downtown Boston Cafe | Eater Boston

"A Watertown coffeebar located at 810 Mt. Auburn St. that debuted as the brand’s local test site, paired with an adjacent coffee training lab and sales office; the arrangement underscores a focus on barista–customer interaction and staff education while the company explored expansion in Boston and Cambridge. The operation is part of a Chicago-based direct-trade business that was majority-acquired by Peet’s Coffee in 2015." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Intelligentsia Coffee Will Open Its First Boston Proper Cafe This Summer | Eater Boston

"When I visited Intelligentsia’s first Boston-area coffeebar in Watertown (810 Mt. Auburn St.), I found it to be a standalone location with a sales office and training lab next door; the shop features a “chef’s table” — the coffee-shop version where customers can interact with baristas — and serves local baked goods from Somerville’s Forge Baking Co. The company positioned this outpost as a first foray into the area and an anchor for people to discover the brand as it looks for more sites in Boston and Cambridge, and the Watertown location is open 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Excellent coffee, good aroma as well as taste. The pastries are also outstanding. The cinnamon bun wasn't overwhelming with cinnamon, which is what a lot of other places get wrong, and the pastry was flaky as opposed to dense. The maple scone was also tasty.

Fabulous latte with great latte art. The coffee shop is modern and sleek, with seating at both ends of the shop and outdoor seating with umbrellas. Big pride flag in the front window. They get their baked goods from La Saison. 👌

Am not a huge fan of these, I think they're light roasts. I actually like the atmosphere. Thing is I like to eat with my coffee or tea, and the only fresh gluten free items are one-bite cookies, so I only come if I've already eaten and it's basically a second round of caffeination.

Tucked away in a quiet residential area straddling Cambridge and Watertown, Intelligentsia Coffee offers a great cafe experience with an excellent selection of pastries and coffee. I’ve been coming here for the past few months to get some work done on the weekends. From their drinks, my go-to is their Avena latte. It's a medium-bodied blend, surprisingly light, with a bold cayenne kick that somewhat eclipses the subtler vanilla and cinnamon notes. As a latte enthusiast, it still captures my palate. Besides their good coffee, I like that they have a rotating selection of pastries sourced from some of my favorite local bakeries like Sodoko and La Saison. Another perk is their free parking lot, a rare find in the city. It’s designated for takeout customers, but there are still plenty of street parking available nearby. While its location might not be the most accessible, Intelligentsia Coffee is well worth the drive for anyone seeking a coffees shop experience in a cozy, welcoming environment.

Coffee was delicious! On top of that the staff was kind and were really on their game. I got my drink quickly and it was perfect. I also enjoyed the esthetic of the coffee shop. It looks like a nice place to sit and work, read a book, or meet with a friend. The outdoor seating and cozy and under comfortable shade. Highly recommend!

A Hidden Gem in Watertown – Exceptional Drinks, Warm Staff, and a Peaceful Atmosphere This café is hands down my favorite spot in Watertown! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with genuine warmth and kindness from the staff, making every visit feel like a welcome retreat. The atmosphere is peaceful, with a minimalist design that creates the perfect space to relax, work, or simply enjoy a quiet moment. While I don’t drink coffee, I can confidently say their chai, matcha, and tea are some of the best I’ve ever had—expertly crafted, full of flavor, and made with high-quality ingredients. My husband, on the other hand, is a coffee enthusiast, and he absolutely loves their brews, which speaks volumes about the care they put into every cup. If you’re looking for a café that balances exceptional quality, a welcoming ambiance, and outstanding service, this is the place to be. A true gem in Watertown!

This place looks so cute on the outside. If your in a rush this is not the spot for you we orders 2 coffees 20+ minutes to get. It’s very cramped in there even not not to busy. Once you get your coffees they are pretty good. The pastries are ok we got a chocolate chip cookie we had high hopes. Turns out it’s vegan. The prices are steep

Incredible experience at Intelligentsia Watertown. I rarely say this, but I just had the best pour-over in Boston. The beans were the Peru Rayos Del Sol Geisha, brewed by their talented barista Sabrina. They use Origami drippers to brew pour-overs here. Not to mention, all the baristas are so friendly and very helpful. I will definitely come back.
