Intercontinental Alpensia Pyeongchang Resort (Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Some global chains might feel intimidated at the prospect of opening an Alpine-style resort in Korea’s Taebaek Mountains, but not this one. The Intercontinental Alpensia Pyeongchang Resort shows the influence of classic European mountain lodges, as well as plenty of Korean heritage in its art and design. But underneath it all it’s the same large-scale, ultra-luxe, eminently palatable, highly professional hospitality that is the InterContinental brand’s stock-in-trade." - Tablet Hotels

The hotel is in a great location. There were dining options in the hotel but many others nearby with a variety of local and western cuisines. Very convenient for skiing and the slopes were well maintained with friendly staff. The water park was nearby and the slides were fun even for a single adult. The hotel staff was Fluent in English and very helpful. The room was comfortable and clean.

I was extremely impressed with the customer service. The Concierge, especially, who arranged private taxi with a woman ‘Speed Racer’ whose car and driving were clean, fast, friendly, and smooth. The front entrance is also steps away from a gorgeous lake pavilion alluding to Gyeongpo’s walking trail near Gangneung Beach. If you’re looking for mountains, sun, water, wine (they have a wine shop) and warm smiles. This is the place.

In the Late 1900s the area was far lands abandoned due to soil depletion. This didn't stop the UnGrounded Minds from envioning it...The Luxury Hotel was drawn in 2003 by the Artisans, Built by the strong hands for 6 years, then it finally was opened as the InterContinental by the public-servants on 21 December 2009. Making a successful bid for the 2018 Olympic Winter games. Fast forward to the summer of 2025...you can have the beautiful resort all to yourself, or you can tell the others about it.

A miss for us. I guess we were expecting Lake Placid of Korea or Park City of Korea. Did not meet the mark for us by any stretch. This so called resort is in the middle of nowhere. So you’d expect a lot more on property but really everything is a ++ charge. Maybe by default Intercontinental hotels get the five stars but there isn’t enough provided here compared to other five star hotels. No pool. There is a pay as you go jacuzzi and sauna but men or women only so we had to split up the family for that. We struggled to find a days worth of activities in May on a three day trip. Excited to get back to Seoul. Crazy thing is we didn’t find the people as friendly as what we’ve been used to either. I think they would have rather we we left the kids home. No upgrade for Diamond Elite and the place is a ghost town, that’s strange also! Won’t be back but I guess we’re glad we punched the ticket. I’m guessing Coke in the winter. Off season isn’t worth it. Maybe a 3.5 star really but not 5 stars sorry.

Very good getaway skii trip. Around 8 minutes walk to Alpensia Ski area and with 30% off showing the hotel booking or hotel card. Nice room with decent size, smart TV with youtube and netflix, Wifi is fast. The fridge is not cold enough though. Breakfast was okay but we still paid for breakfast on the spot as there are limited options.

I've stayed at better hotels that cost much less. IHG should be ashamed of themselves for allowing the Intercontinental brand to be used for this hotel. What a shame. 1. The curtains were disgusting and were evident that they were never washed since the hotel opened. 2. Carpet was heavily stained. 3. Furniture was worn. 4. Shower stall had mold everywhere. 5. Thermostat was useless, since the temperature was centrally controlled by management. 6. First floor cafe is essentially self-serve, but they charge you an arm and a leg. Plus, they closed at 9:30 PM on a Friday. FRIDAY.

This hotel is located in Pyeongchang, where is considered the most comfortable region in Korea. Every time I go here, I feel relaxed and relieve my stress. It is a best place where I could relax my tired body and mind with friendly staff, comfortable beds, and quiet surroundings. I plan to visit again whenever I have time for the time being.

The hotel is great. Entry is welcoming the concierge team was fantastic at welcoming us and providing little things like outlet adaptors. Check in was find. Our biggest complaint is we booked a package through the IHG website that include lunch and dinner but apparently that package is not offered at the hotel. The GM Bill Lee made it right with a couple vouchers for meals. Access the the ski slope we easy. Rooms we spacious as well. They felt a bit dated…. The tv had some strange block on usb devices. So you can’t use a personal streaming device. Shower and bathrooms were a highlight of the room but apparently in early evening they can run out of hot water due to guest over use. Lake view in the winter is not worth it. Mountain View is better. The lounge and restaurant have really good food and drinks but the are a bit pricey.
