"A 1920s villa plays host to this Cantonese restaurant boasting plenty of old-world charm thanks to its period furniture, fireplace and Chinese artwork. It’s spread over two floors and includes a bar, a lounge, a tea room and several private rooms. The menu is mostly Cantonese with some Shanghainese dishes. Try marinated meats, roast goose, salt-baked chicken or char siu pork. Seasonal offerings, like the mushroom menu in autumn, need pre-ordering." - Michelin Inspector

Great service from bell boys, receptionists and housekeeping. The hotel has excellent greenery and the location is great for Citywalk (if it’s not too hot). The rooms are clean and well maintained though one of the USB fails to work. The bed is comfortable. I like the Byredo shower gel and lotion… smell great! Breakfast is available till 10am… they have a good selection and Chinese and Western food.

I used to live in Shanghai. Now 15 years later, I got to come back and show my family around the city I used to love. I wasn't sure where I wanted to stay. My wife wanted somewhere convenient and comfortable and quiet. That's when I took a chance on the Intercontinental Ruijin. I booked for 3 nights, then ended up extending our stay twice because we loved it so much. The hotel is convenient to everywhere. The service is impeccable. The staff is very helpful and will do everything to ensure your stay is amazing. The breakfast is delicious and filling. I didn't want to leave! I highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed 4 nights on a business trip. The property is huge with spread out villas and buildings over a large area. The taxi guys were lost finding the reception area and there were no clear instructions in place. The decor and common areas are grand and welcoming, however the rooms are small comparatively. The property has a classic feel with vintage architecture and fixtures. The staff are friendly. Only disliked the advance deposit of 4000 Yuan when the rooms are already prepaid in full. They insist on this even when it's a corporate tie up booking. The staff are overall friendly and do understand English well. The food options are limited for vegetarians. The menu was repetitive all days of the week . There are limited options for food nearby in walkable distance. For the pricing of rooms I did not find it value for money.

Excellent service, friendly staff especially Rick at the Club Lounge. Great stay for family, couples, and friends. The only complaint would be that the bathrooms are quite slippery, must be very careful. The style of the hotel is vintage Shanghainese with a historical vibe. The greenery is beautiful. Would recommend an authentic Shanghainese cuisine restaurant nearby called 瑞福园 (Ruifuyuan). Reserve in advance because it's quite popular.

We stayed as a family for a few days at the Ruijin Intercontinental during Chinese New Year. We followed others tip and opted for the executive wing which I highly recommend. The hotel is centrally located and as a former government guest house fully refurbished benefits from an incredible 5 hectares of park space. The hotel is well decorated in a traditional style but totally modern. We enjoyed the peace in the park and had a wonderful stay

Amazing hotel if you want to stay away from business of the city. We booked premium club room and honestly it was the best option because we had breakfasts , afternoon tea and small dinner buffet with drinks, it was more than enough to make us happy . Special thanks to housekeeping for keeping our room clean and organized. The only thing is English proficiency could be improved of some stuff and maybe proactiveness in services. Anyways we loved it and will come back for sure :)

The hotel is very centrally located and the buildings are exceptional with beautiful gardens. The food is great and the staffs are excellent. The only drawback is the facilities inside need better upgrade. One can see rust at the bathroom and light fixtures. This devalues the high end Intercontinental status. Also, hotel room should not have instant coffee. The amenity made this high end hotel a grade lower than it should be.

This is a busy hotel in a busy neighborhood. ||The hotel is located in the French concession surrounded by residential apartments, SHA top 2 universities, the top public hospital and SHA Culture Square Theater. There are many eateries, convenience shop, 2 shopping malls and 2 metro stations (lines 1,9,10,12) about 900m away. The USA, French and Japanese consulate are also within walking distance. ||Tip: when taking a taxi to the hotel, ask the driver to use MaoMing south road (SHA culture square theatre) entrance. The hotel has 2 entrances the other more busy road is Ruijin (hospital side). U only need a taxi during your arrival from airport or departure to airport and the roads around the hotel gets busy after 3pm since they are mostly one way.||The hotel is a popular place for garden wedding during the weekends as it has a large lawn. That sets this hotel apart from others and that’s what makes this place lovely and quiet from all the busy traffic. It takes about 250m walk from hotel lobby to the pedestrian street. ||Staff speaks minimal English. Look for Jimmy Shen the hotel concierge who speaks perfect English and can get almost everything done for you. Most hotel guests are local as foreigners are still not open on visits to China. ||We did not eat at the hotel establishment as there are many choices around the hotel. The hotel rooms are sited at 2 different blocks and a golf cart would ferry guests around. ||We stayed for 7 nights and the last time we were in SHA was in 2012. This is our first time staying at this location. Love the location and highly recommended if you like walking the tree lined streets. Something very unique in this part of SHA.
