This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Set in the most beautiful grounds and perfect location for seeing the French Concession. We stayed in the club rooms which had its own building. The afternoon tea, happy hour with incredible food selection and drinks and breakfast was really fantastic. Could not fault it. |Kim the General manager was so friendly and informative and was readily available for any questions or queries we had. All of the staff were so happy to help and extremely friendly and accommodating. |Would highly recommend this hotel. Such a great location and a beautiful setting.

As an avid traveler, I have been to many IHG hotels around the world. I would rank this one as one of the best hotels I have stayed at. Firstly, the grounds were spectacular. Not surprisingly, many people often have weddings here because the scenery is really nice. The staff upon check-in, concierge, and in the club lounge were all wonderful too. They were friendly, considerate and caring. The room was also amazing. Large room (I stayed in the Club Intercontinental building) that was clean with a really comfortable bed, so I had an amazing sleep. The bathroom was large and very nice too. There was a lot of space for my clothes in terms of closets and drawers. The club lounge was wonderful. It was a gorgeous room with a great spread for both breakfast and happy hour. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Shanghai. It is conveniently located in the French quarter, which made it easy to get around too.

Great, friendly and warm service from the executive club lounge especially from Cassie Cao who attended to us almost everyday! Remembered our preferences and made our stay an absolute delight! The grounds and property is fantastic with its own private gardens, pond, mini lake, bridges and lots and lots of trees and flowers in full bloom this spring! They really kept and maintained the heritage look of the hotel well. It was always easy to get a buggy to anywhere you wanted to go on the hotel grounds

The counter staff were superb. We were upgraded to a room on the 8th Floor with a view on the gardens. The staff showed us the short cut to the nearby metro station, shock help a lot when we explored the area around. The gardens in Spring were splendid. All sorts of cherry blossoms were in full bloom. The breakfasts had plenty of choices and were delicious. The historical buildings were well kept and worth visiting.

Excellent service. Well selected food for breakfast. It locates in the downtown and near everything but it’s a very quiet garden😇😇. You can take some time to stroll around on a sunny day. Really enjoyable and very chill 👍Highly recommend to everyone who wants to feel a vibe of old Shanghai

The grounds are beautiful and I’m sure at one time the hotel was beautiful. However it’s lacking basic service and attention to the overall customers experience. When you arrive you’re lost. There’s no signs to the reception so you just walk around until you can find it. The shower pressure was very low and not hot. Real bummer. I don’t think there was a fridge. The mattress is super bouncy-not my preference. The worst part of my experience was when I changed into my swimsuit and went to use the pool and everyone from the attendant to the manager told me I couldn’t use the pool without a swim cap. There is not mention of this on the policy general policy or on the pool policy page. I saw no mention at at the pool. Then they wanted to sell me a swim cap for ¥100. I should mention here that I have no hair. Bald completely. The staff and management had no interest in accommodating me other than to sell me a cap.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could! Service is impeccable, staff is super friendly, and the club room is incredible! We booked a suite coming here and the room was huge with two bathrooms! More than enough space to lounge with family and friends. This will definitely be a go to hotel for us anytime we are traveling in the future! If you are in Shanghai, make it one of your stops as well. You wont regret it!

DON’T USE THE GYM HERE. The Ruijin Guesthouse, as it was known before IHG took over its management, is a Shanghai historic monument set in luscious gardens in the former French concession. IF YOU STAY AT THIS HOTEL, DON’T USE THE GYM AS IT IS DANGEROUS. I have been using the gym and pool in the basement of the hotel’s Executive Building for several years. Last year a framed picture on the wall above the weights rack fell off and injured my head. It turned out that unlike other pictures, it was only hung on two little nails so it was just waiting for an accident. I was offered no care or assistance by the staff and after an initial attendance, the hotel management, including IHG head office, ignored my complaint and finally I was forced to hire a lawyer. Circle Harmony who manages the facilities in the basement admitted liability but refused compensation. So if I want to pursue compensation for my injury, I will have to go to court.
