"Aboard the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Commissioned during World War II, the USS Intrepid is now a wonderful museum and a National Historical Landmark anchored at Pier 86 on Manhattan's West Side. The space shuttle Enterprise and a British Airways Concorde are among the top attractions along with the many aircraft on the flight deck, including an F-14 Tomcat and an A-12 Blackbird spy plane. Below the flight deck, permanent exhibitions bring to life Intrepid's illustrious naval career through original artifacts, historic video clips of naval battles and kamikaze strikes, and interactive multimedia. Alongside the carrier (and also part of the museum), the USS Growler remains the only intact strategic missile submarine open to the public."

15 Fun Things to Do With Kids in NYC | Condé Nast Traveler

"The Intrepid is a floating museum: a WWII aircraft carrier with a storied naval career home to some of the most famous air and spacecraft in the world, plus exciting experiences and exhibits that will thrill your young history and aviation buffs. The Intrepid served in WWII, Vietnam and throughout the Cold War era; after it was decommissioned, it was installed at Pier 86 on the Hudson River. For four months after 9/11, the vessel served as the FBI’s field office. Today it's a National Historic Landmark." - Sunshine Flint

This has been on my bucket list for 10+ years! What an incredible tribute to every soldier who ever served aboard her decks! A wonderful museum for every vintage and modern aircraft enthusiast!!! We took the noon aircraft elevator ride to experience the unique thrill of what our bravest experienced during war & peace! The elevator guide was an Air Force veteran like myself, we missed each other at basic training by only months! Loved the interactive 4d experience as well as the movies!! Wonderful time was had by all!

Google
What an incredible experience at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum! From the moment we stepped onto the massive aircraft carrier, it felt like we were transported into a living history book. The displays are phenomenal—fighter jets, the Concorde, the Space Shuttle Enterprise, and even a full submarine! ✈️🚀⚓️ We loved how interactive everything was. My kids had a blast trying the hands-on exhibits—especially the retro communication station and flight controls. Staff were super friendly and informative, always eager to answer questions with a smile. The Concorde tour was a highlight: sitting in the first-class cabin while learning about its supersonic legacy was unforgettable. It’s spacious, accessible, and well-signed for self-guided exploration. Expect to spend at least 3-4 hours to do it justice—there’s just so much to see and learn. Booking tickets in advance saved us time, and we appreciated the discount for local residents. Whether you’re a military history buff, aviation geek, or just looking for a family-friendly day out, this museum hits the mark. Highly recommend visiting early to beat the crowd. We’ll definitely be coming back! 5/5 stars for education, fun, and atmosphere! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Google
A fun way to spend some time learning about how air craft carriers work. Make sure to take some time to read about each exhibit. Lots of cool photo opportunities. They stamped my passport book at the information desk, so don’t forget to bring yours. The staff is very friendly and will answer any questions you may have. Highly recommend for families with kids, lots of activities and room for them to explore. I recommend buying tickets in advance so you don’t have to wait in line for a long time. Restrooms are decent.

A really impressive museum! Added benefit of been able to also explore a submarine which I didn't expect. The size of the aircraft aboard is quite amazing and gives an unique perspective thanks to various narration of crew members. We almost miss actually exploring inside the ship as the entrance to see the sleeping quarters, were they drop anchor among other rooms. Be sure to explore every cranny in the ship to get the most out of it. Sadly one of the areas was close when we went which house the 4D experience. Really great museum to visit and should be on your list to check out if going on a trip to Manhattan.

Google
This museum is super cool. So many displays including fighter jets! Very intriguing information about the fighter jets. Very relaxing on the main deck of you want to just sit down and watch the view. Staff were helpful and friendly. Love the part where you could interact and play with some of the displays. My son took a major liking to them all. I was able to book my ticket in advance and also receive a discount because I live in NY.

Google
Impressive ship, one of the first aircraft carriers with an awesome career and history. From end of WWII (Asia pacific including kamikaze attacks) till the Mercury space capsule recovery. Everything is documented extremely well. The planes this ship carried are on display on the flight deck. On of the (long) retired pilots was on board on the bridge happy to share his experiences. Cherry on top of the pie: a Space Shuttle, the concorde and so much more. Totally recommended!!!

Google
Awesome! Decided to take the kids (14 and 12 yrs of age) there last min and we all really enjoyed. Not only did we learn about the design of USS Intrepid, but also the evolution of aircraft carriers to make it safer, more efficient and enjoyable for the sailors that fight for their country. The museum has many exhibits across 3 decks and interactive demonstrations. In addition, you can also go up to Combat Information Center and Captain’s room to immerse yourselves in those environments. Recommend getting City Pass that allows you to visit this and other attractions in NYC, it’s worth it. Budget 2-3hrs to stroll through the exhibits at a leisure pace.

Google
This museum is awesome! If you want to see everything you will need at least 3-4 hours minimum. There is so much information you will learn about the ship, aircraft’s, the space shuttle, and submarine. There are elevators and most of the museum is accessible. Perfect place for kids who are interested in all of those things! Lots of fun but gets busy quick. I recommend advanced tickets & coming as soon as they open.

Yelp
PROS: - great for families, kids and adults - wheelchair accessible (but not all internal parts of some exhibits) - worth the price - lots to see - cafeteria on the premise CONS: - lines can get long with 15-20 min wait (submarine) - no shade, so need hat or sunblock on sunny days Great place for kids and adults. The submarine tour is totally worth it, but be informed that you must be taller than 40" to go on the submarine, so small kids are not allowed. There are lots to see, shuttle, lots of planes and helicopters, and the actual inside of the Intrepid. Getting in some of the spaces can be tight and claustrophobic either way lots of tiny metal stairs. The entrances to each of the Hatches/Main Floors are wheelchair accessible by elevator, but not wheelchair accessible for entrance the submarine or the actual Intrepid ship.

Yelp
Overall rating: 4.7 Having lived in nyc over 10 years, I've never had any interest visiting. It's so far (I live near prospect park), and it looked like a ship. However, did you know if you have Bank of America every first Sunday- it's free! You just show your BOA card. Regular priced tickets at $36+ (which is crazy btw) is absolutely free!! I went with my friend and it's so much more than a ship. I actually think it was information overload and hard to follow for people that aren't history nerds. But it was really cool to be on a submarine! I wish they had more staff to be around to answer questions but I'm sure that's a budget issue. On one of the ships there was a guy who wised to work on the ship! It was so cool! I am back and forth if I recommend this over other spots, but I think it is better suited for families than young folx.

Yelp
One of my favorite museums to visit when I'm in New York. I love the indoor/outdoor setup to enjoy the weather while walking through the different exhibits. I've been here before and fi ally had a chance to stop by the submarine. I wish more time was given to really explore and see the inside but there is a "keep the line moving" policy. Overall it was still enjoyable. TIP: If you're going driving there then try to go on a Sunday since there is free street parking all around (without needed to pay the meter)

Yelp
Such an amazing museum !!! The staff is so nice and knowledgeable. I had no idea that most of the staff consists of veterans which is such a great touch to the facility. They are so nice and open to questions and love to talk to the visitors. This museum had a lot of interactions for children. Everything was great here.

Yelp
The sheer size of the aircraft carrier itself was already astounding. It was very cool exploring everything else. The G-Force Encounter simulator was so fun!

Yelp
Went with husband to Intrepid museum some time ago. His choice! I thought it was ok, husband loved it though. Pricing is reasonable, and I think they have certain days (some Fridays?) and Sundays that are free. Museum is rather extensive, lots to see, with aircraft carrier, space shuttle enterprise, submarine, bunch of airplanes, etc. The volunteers were very helpful with providing information. They also have a movie/3D experience which is extra as well. Lots to explore. Tickets can be gotten online. Overall would recommend!

Yelp
It's been a long time since I visited this back in early 2000s. I was strolling through NYC, burning off some calories after a heavy breakfast/brunch. This is located near pier 86 overlooking the Hudson River. I believe the tickets are either in their high $20s $30s. However, if you can manage to plan properly, I would recommend getting a NYC pass or city pass to cover multiple attractions. I am a food and local crowd oogler rather than applying my own interpretations to art or marvelous engineering. I love fighter jets, but I rather go on a ride and pass out experiencing a high g force than looking at it. My compromise to this has been by me visiting the air shows and watching them fly and having had an opportunity through a leadership program aboard a c30 aircraft

Yelp
Arrive here on a Saturday 2 pm. No admission line. Security searched bags. We brought in some snack and water. No problem. Things to do: Pier deck: Submarine Growler self guided tour: long slow moving line always. Close earlier than museum time. A little cafe offers icecream, sandwiches, hotdogs and popcorn etc. Upon exit, You will pass by another gift shop, bigger than the one in Enterprise. Hangar deck: indoor air conditioning exhibits including great for children Exploreum section. Simulation flight rides, 4 D movie. Flight deck: Aircraft displays. Indoor exhibit of space shuttle Enterprise with gift shop. Photo taken with green screen. Control tower self guided tour which usually has a line. Pro: - NYC residents 50 % off. Original price $36 adult and $26 child 12 and under. - Exploreum at the hanger deck: Children section. Hands on allowed on everything. - very educational. Retired navy sat at the control tower to explain and answer questions. - free Wifi Con: - expensive for all those extra charge activities: simulation flight ride ( $28 for 2 persons for 3 min), virtual reality ( $14) , 4 D movies. Photo taken at space shuttle entrance is $30 for 4 pic. - line to entrance for space shuttle Enterprise was slowed down. A staff blocked you off since everyone was directed to take pictures which are sold at $30 four pic package. They should have another line for people who don't want picture to pass. - cafe at pier deck but expect to pay $12 a sandwich. Overall it's a good experience. Bring snacks and water for children. Try to come during once a year kids week which offer even more kids activities. I remember one year kids were allowed to go inside a tank. Free giveaways for kids during kids week.

Yelp
This is a very interesting place to go, for an actual tour of this place it has been a few years. Overall, relatively recent did visit for NY Food and Wine Festival. This particular event was called The Cookout, it was a ton of food to sample and alot of tasty drinks. You can usually volunteer for one of these food festivals to try not to pay the insane fees that usually come with this. Next year, big recommendation to try at least one of these food festival events and most likely it will be back at this location next year. It was nice and easy to see most of the vendors outside and try all types of different foods.

Yelp
The hours are wrong. The museum closes at random times and the people at the door are rude about it. How about updating your hours so people don't arrive too late? Business as usual I suppose post covid 19.

Yelp
After passing by the Intrepid Museum daily on my commute for 15 years, my family and I finally visited last Saturday. Despite the crowds, we navigated the ship comfortably and spent two enriching hours delving into its history, as well as learning about the US Navy and the space program. The highlight for my kids was experiencing the G-force encounter simulator--they absolutely loved it. While we didn't explore the Space Shuttle Pavilion due to long lines, we're already planning our return visit to delve deeper into all the museum has to offer.

Yelp
I hadn't been here since I was a kid. I now have a kid of my own and our first NYC outing was spent here! Very entertaining and I think he liked it (he's still young) met up with family here and it was a great day. Only annoying thing was the 5 mins we sat down and my son was laying down on the bench, someone who worked there walked by and was like sit up. He was only 4 (he's now 5 lol) he wasn't about to take a nap but it was a long day and just sort of obnoxious. It's not like it was the only bench or the place was packed. Didn't ruin our outing or anything, was more just a like seriously? :P

Yelp
Such a cool place to visit with my 9-10 year old nephews. Such a fun & informative place. Its a museum inside a war torn ship. Theres real exhibits of old planes, helicopters & even a submarine. Theres also food, souvenir store & clean bath rooms. We came in free with a ticket from culture pass but even if we pay it was worthy experience for me & my nephews. They cant wait to come again!

Yelp
This is not a review of the museum itself but instead of a birthday party experience. Went here recently for a combined birthday party for 2 kids - age 6 and 9 or 10. Must have been around 30 or 35 kids total. There were only TWO people appointed by the museum to watch them and they were completely unable to or maybe made no effort to manage the kids. They made no effort to teach the kids or tell them about cool things and instead let them run around rampant. The kids were running around without the "birthday party staff" even paying attention. The staff seemed like they had no experience with children and were very rudely yelling at the 6 year olds as if they were supposed to know what to do . Was by no means safe to drop kids off here for a party.

Yelp
Came for a Free Friday and I was geeking out the whole time. Such a fresh museum that's not art on a wall but spaceships, facts, planes, choppers, etc. all so cool! Freshly painted and they all look so good. We were caught in the rain and it was still a great visit. The spaceship Enterprise absolutely blew my mind by its mass. It is huge! I couldn't believe my eyes. Seeing a blue angel was so neat. Going in and out of the ship was so fun. Seeing the anchor chains was nuts. So many facts and diagrams. I loved every minute. Didn't get around to the submarine. Next time!!

Yelp
This place was the perfect place for the NYCFWF event. The staff was amazing, the food was delicious, and the view was breathtaking!! We got there using an uber.

Yelp
The intrepid sea air and space museum is a good spot to go to if the weather is not on your side. Enjoy some of the history and alot of stuff to see and for kids to do. The museum done a great job on educating us on the history of the ship, those that served and variety of aircrafts. There were interactive activities for kids to enjoy and plenty around to take pictures of. You can spent a whole day here. Outside the ship you are face with a big cruise line. You can enjoy outdoor sea and breeze and then head back inside to continue the journey.

Yelp
Attended an Eventbrite event at the intrepid Museum Summer Tasting Fest -Beer , wine and food trucks and it was better than I expected, Yellowstone whiskey to tequila very good quality-tasted some of the best IPA from Warsteiner variety to Deadhead IPA -let me not forget Gentle Giant variety beers and IPA's. My best taste was these giant pretzels sorry I didn't get the name of the stand but I do remember he was also at the Jersey city wine beer food festival as well. Almost left out the best Gin(Hendricks)lemonade drink delicious. It is definitely a great place to meet good people.

Yelp
Visiting the Intrepid was great. We saw the space exhibit, which was quite interesting. Just being on the Intrepid is itself somewhat awesome.
google avatar

Sharon B.

Yelp
You probably have noticed while driving along the Hudson River that there is military flight aircraft and a very large aircraft carrier. Well this is what we have here. It's a large museum of course of the military kind and it has jets and helicopters and even the Concorde Supersonic jet. I can recall this being here going back to the early 80s and I remember it closing for renovations around 2066 or 2007. This is a must visit for any military fans!
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Been to NYC many times for business and personal but have missed coming to the Intrepid Museum till now. This is by far the best tour experience I have ever had in NY. Come with the whole family and spend the day from open to close 11-5pm. It's worth the price of admission even if you don't get the addons. Hangar deck - see, experience and play with fun demos. The VR experience was expensive and a let down for the extra cost. Flight deck - of course it's awesome to see of the planes of our US NAVY. This is what everyone comes to see and the flight deck did not let me down. The Growler - free with you ticket and great to see has sailors used to have to live on a sub Kamikaze Beyond the Fire show, great show about the Intrepid's fight in WW II. 3D Journey to Space was worth the add on charge
google avatar

Nicole R.

Yelp
Very nice outside museum! This museum was part of our City Pass and worth the visit. We went on a Sunday afternoon so the crowd was good. This is a self guided experience so you can go at your own pace. The planes looked fake since they painted the windows but there is plenty of information in front of each model. They have additional attractions inside the ship like virtual reality flying. There is a food court on board as well and gift shops. We enjoyed our time and it's nice to see the city from the ship.
google avatar

Sasha B.

Yelp
It's my second time in this museum and I just love it. I'd recommend it to everyone, it's good for any age. There also is a shuttle Enterprise, British Airways Concord, a lot of military planes on the deck and the submarine. You can explore the ship inside and outside, learn the story of it and what it's been through. Overall very interesting!
google avatar

Jared R.

Yelp
Pros: Absolutely massive Aircraft Carrier that you can tour around -Lots of planes to look at -You can ride the Plane elevator twice a day -Interesting exhibits below deck -Can go in a Submarine -Fun Sound and Light show of the ship getting attacked (complete with fake smoke) -Fun simulators (Extra charge) Cons: -$42 USD admission -Extra charges for seeing the Space Shuttle and the Concorde -Long lines both to get in and to see certain parts of the ship and the Submarine Worth visiting if you are an enthusiast or have a family to entertain but not worth a trip if you aren't interested in the Navy, big ships or military stuff..
google avatar

Carmen D.

Yelp
This Museum on water was so informative and fun! Plan for at least 4-5 hours to make sure you see everything. It's so rich in history and this hands on experience was the cherry on top. There were curators at important areas to teach you the history of said areas. It's a great experience to see how the seaman lived on the ship, wether it be dining, recreation or sleeping areas. The space shuttle was also a great experience. To be in the room with something that has been in space gives you prospective on how small we are compared to the galaxy. The technology used to make it all possible is mind blowing. This place has so much to see and do and buy! The souvenir shop is right at the exit and pleasantly arranged. If we are ever back in the area i would love to stop again!
google avatar

Deepika M.

Yelp
Been here only twice, in two years. Both the times for the kids week in winter. We did the submarine, but not the main hangar as the kids activities were engaging enough. For kids week, this year is NASA doing various exhibits. The kid had a good time. Though what he loves the most there are those simulator rides.
google avatar

Emma M.

Yelp
I loved my visit to the Intrepid Sea Air & Space Museum. I really enjoyed going inside the ship and learning about how it was run when in action. You don't get to go inside all of the rooms, but you can get a pretty good view of them. There were also interactive ride simulations and a game room that you can go into for a feel of what things are like inside a ship or spaceship. There were many cool things to look at, interact with, and purchase. There are two gift shops available and a small cafe to buy lunch alongside vending machines for water and soda. It wasn't clear at the cafe but the cans of soda were $3 and the bottles of soda were $4 even though it just says soda is $3. I got a little emotional when looking at exhibits that discuss the Challenger and the Apollo 13 disasters. It's really sad, but I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn about those things.

Yelp
Came here with a friend during the Memorial Day weekend with tix in advance...of course it was packed and we only got to see one of the ships included in our ticket as it was 1.5 - 2 hour wait to get into the other ship which includes the submarine growler. Not ideal to come on a holiday weekend but was trying to plan out something fun in a couple of days. Adults tix are $33 but we had a discount and pre-ordered tix in advance :) These are time-based entry tickets and also add-ons with a cost so make sure if you plan to add-on, select times wisely to get to the location ahead of it. NYC residents get nice discount of 50%, however need to get in person as that isn't available online...it would be nice if they to add that given the lines are super long. Given yourself plenty of time to see everything - come early and plan to stay at least half the day to see everything...it is worth it. We started from the top and worked our way down - top deck has all the aircrafts - pretty cool. Kinda themed after watching Top Gun: Maverick the day before :) Nice weather out but very busy there - picture taken in the space pavilion - decide if you want to purchase there and make sure to keep the photo card and receipt if you do. $35 for the photo package of 4 and includes digital copy which you need the code from the photo card to get. Note: you may have to reach out to customer service - we tried to get our photos online the day after and it didn't accept the code even though we paid saw our photos up..customer service was great to help us after we provided the required info and receipt, they sent the digital pics. They do have restrooms in a couple of areas...so pay attention. Vending machines that sell snack and drinks as well. Note: Don't wear green with green screen or colors that may go transparent on the green screen...Something I found hilarious in our pictures. :)

Yelp
At a $33 admission fee (sans other special exhibits and shows), it is a hefty fee, but there's a discount for NYC residents. I had been wanting to visit this museum for years every since I used to work in fidi and i saw the aircraft carrying over a space shuttle across the Hudson River to the newly built museum. Fast forward many years later, I finally visited. There's a timed ticket entry, if you booked online. I started at the top deck to check out all the model planes and it was really interesting to learn about the different planes and it's usage. From helicopters to fighter jets to large aircrafts. I happened upon a demonstration midway where we were allowed on the wooden elevator platform and learned about how they transported the jets up and down. There's a lot of levels where you can explore and learn about NASA's enterprise, the submarine growler, the exploreum hall (for a lot of interactive experiences)... it's a fun time to geek out over sea, air, and space exhibits. The submarine growler was a unique experience that requires you to be able to climb through narrow spaces inside the submarine. So beware if you're claustrophobic or unable to lift your legs up. It was a pretty tight interactive exhibit but i enjoyed it and was able to imagine myself in the crew's shoes.

Yelp
Absolutely dogsh-t of a museum Do NOT take your kids to this family unfriendly place Height restrictions all over the place with ZERO advance warning Go wait in line for 45 minutes then be told "oh your kid is too short." Simple solution: put height restriction sign at front of line. It's a museum not an amusement park - website has ZERO information on height restrictions

Yelp
First of all the employees were very mean and hostile to our family. We came here as a family vacation and this trip could've been better. One of the employees said the flight simulator was open about 5 minutes before closing times and we got ready to go on but then the employee said that it was closed. We asked them why was it open just now and he didn't saw a word. All he did was shake his head and say n-n-no I-i-i d-didn't very very quietly. My son was running cause he missed his sister and the employees behind the desk yelled NO RUNNING INSIDE and then my son started crying! The employee did nothing and talked to another customer. I have lots of experience in aircraft carriers and they let me touch lots of stuff while here the only thing interactive is the explorum in the carrier. Our family has to break rules so we can have an interactive time. Talk about strict rules cause this place sucks. Overall never come here ever

Yelp
There have been so many new things that are added since our last visit. My first visit was during the time I was enjoying my young sons' curiosity. On today's visit, to keep summer moving especially for my husband, we dropped by. They were following the Covid protocol set by CDC. It is a relief to know that they were serious in vaccine verification. I enjoyed my visit today than before. I learned so many things about all the vehicles on top deck or hangar. The flight deck is an amazing plight to stayed on. Credit to my husband sharing some information. The museum added a whole level of facts, informations, displays and hands on. I never been curious with aircraft carrier, submarine, space shuttle and the Concorde until this visit. It was fun being here, like four museum in one visit.

Yelp
Visited using our Bank of America museum coupon and it was a nice museum. Mostly located outdoors so make sure to visit on a sunny day. Long line for certain exhibits like the submarine, so it's best to arrive early. Fun interactive exhibits for kids. Really enjoyed speaking to the veteran volunteers on the ship.

Yelp
The Intrepid is like the Statue or Liberty or Empire State Building to native New Yorkers, wet don't even notice them. Tourists come for them, we walk right past them. I enjoyed my trip with my son. If you dig planes and military history, this makes a great stop. Be prepared to climb steps as some attractions are a steep climb. Be mindful of that if you have strollers. Also, if you visit The Growler sub, there are portals you have to step through. He elderly and less agile may find this a challenge. There is an eating area, so you can save money and pack your own lunch. They also sell food in that area I didn't look at the menu, but it seems to be the burger and fries joint kind of choices. Be mindful that you will be walking the entire time. You can get some nice skyline shots as well. Oh and yup, there are a lot of tourists!

Yelp
Had a great time- lots to see and super informative. Submarine was really interesting- would rather have waited in line longer to not feel rushed walking through. Jim E in the flight deck was super knowledgeable and was patient with all our questions. Love that they have actual veterans that worked on the Intrepid, like Gene Austin who was also super sweet and patient with us. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday for their Astronomy Night. Got in line at 6pm and finally got in at 7pm because there were so many people in line for the free entry. That being said, we had a good time. Saw some interesting things and planes. If you're a plane and ship enthusiast, this will be right up your alley. I don't think I'd pay $30+ to visit, but for a free day, sure!

Yelp
Definitely worth a visit. Plan on staying for at least 3 hours. See the Growler submarine first if you are visiting during the summer and when the museum opens to minimize standing in line in the heat of the day.

Yelp
I've been to this museum quite a few times in the past - with family, with a coworker, and for a private event. The museum itself is massive, family-friendly and offers a variety of different tours. While guided tours are currently suspended due to COVID, you can pre-purchase tickets to multiple exhibitions and tour the museum on your own. The flight simulator was one of the highlights of my first 2 visits, located at Pier 86 by Tower 3. Guaranteed to entertain family, both young and old. My second visit was free with an employee discount. My third visit here was for the Sweat for Service event ($35) coordinated by Katie Burke of SYB to support the families of fallen soldiers through the Travis Manion Foundation. The deck served as the perfect environment for the event to raise money for a more than worthy cause. This museum isn't just for tourists. If you're in NYC, reserve your ticket and visit the USS Intrepid.

Yelp
My son loves planes and ships so it was our first stop when we visited the city for his birthday. It's an aircraft carrier turned in to a museum complete with its own submarine! What kid won't love that! It was two floors; the top had planes including a strath bomber. The middle was the hanger where you could see all the equipment inside the carrier. The bottom floor is where you could visit the submarine (you have to purchase a separate ticket). We visited on an early Saturday afternoon and the crowds weren't that bad. They have bathrooms which were surprisingly pretty clean. They also have a little gift shop with apparel, cups, and some toys. It was a pretty nice little tour and enjoyable!

Yelp
Very cool museum! It is HUGE. Spent 3 hours and didn't even get to see half of it! Highly recommend. You could literally spend the entire day here

Yelp
Amazing collection -- I'd recommend a minimum of three hours. One star off because limited / no signage marred the experience -- we wanted to do the Concorde experience, but nowhere did it state that the last tour of the day happens 1.5 hrs prior to the close... this was a big disappointment. It's worth going to, but ask around when you get there since there are random times that things end but there's no way to find out until you physically go and ask?

Yelp
It was our first time at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, and I highly recommend it. Our favorite part was touring the USS Growler and talking with Pat, a retired serviceman. He was very knowledgeable, personable, and he and my boyfriend had a great conversation that lasted quite a while. There's so much to see, on both the USS Growler and USS Intrepid. We spent about 3-4 hours here, and probably could have stayed a little longer if it wasn't close to closing time.

Yelp
Just heard that the USS Bonhomme Richard, an amphibious assault carrier is burning in San Diego harbor. The old USS Bonhomme Richard was one of 23 full size Essex class aircraft carriers built during World War II. The USS Intrepid is another Essex class aircraft carrier in service from 1943-1973, and is berthed on the Hudson River in New York City. Active and retired military personnel get in free. Others pay $35 for people 13-61, $33 for seniors 62+, and $24 for ages 5-12. For NYC residents the price is $19 for 13+ and $17 for ages 5-12. $16 tourist tax surcharge! For comparison, the price of the USS Midway aircraft carrier in San Diego is $16 adults after a $4 AAA discount. Bank of America credit card holders get in free the first full weekend of the month. Naturally we came here the first full weekend in October 2019. USS Intrepid aircraft carrier, the submarine Growler, museum of military aircraft, museum of space shuttle Enterprise, and the Concorde, first and only supersonic passenger airliner, are all here. But the Concorde is closed during our visit. The Grumman Avenger is on display, complete with torpedo bay open. It is the only aircraft that served on the USS Intrepid during World War II on display. No Hellcats, no Helldivers, and no Corsairs. During the early years of the Vietnam War, the USS Intrepid was fitted with an angled deck to be able to launch and retrieve jet aircraft simultaneously. The ship's weight went from 45,000 tons to 68,000 tons, and resulted in the ship becoming slower, and less mobile, a common malady with seniors like me! Vietnam War aircraft include the Skyhawk, the Intruder, F8 Crusader and F4 Phantom II Navy aircraft on display, along with the Cobra gunship helicopter. North Vietnamese aircraft include MIG 17 in sky blue camouflage, and a MIG 21 in tropical green camouflage. . Downstairs on the Hangar deck is space museum display, including the Enterprise Space Shuttle, and the Mercury and Soyuz space craft. Wife was fascinated with the shuttles. Also here are flight simulators, which cost extra, but would be a real attraction for the teenagers. Unfortunately this is certain to be deleted in the post coronavirus era, when this ship reopens. We pay $7.50 to see Manned Mission to Mars film, another attraction which will be deleted in the post coronavirus era. The USS Intrepid has been closed during the pandemic. No schedule for reopening anytime soon. Huge wall to wall indoor crowds for the Enterprise Space Shuttle, and when we left before noon, long lines just to get in the entrance to the carrier. USS Intrepid may have to follow Disneyworld's example with entry only by advance online reservations by date and hour. Only a small fraction of the current number of daily visitors allowed. Roped lines with standing feet stickers 6 feet apart. Not sure how they will get by the need for people to climb lots of narrow stairs or even ladders, to go from deck to deck, as elevator accommodations too limited.

Yelp
I've passed by here on NYC trips for years, but finally had the opportunity to stop in and check out the boat / planes. There is a great scope of planes on display from all eras, genres and geographic areas. The space shuttle is also awe inspiring and a true sight to behold. The boat itself was very neat to see, I wish there would have been more of it accessible to the public but the portion that was on display was neat to see. Worth seeing if you or anyone you are traveling with enjoys machines, engineering, military, planes, boats, or history.

Yelp
Fun thing to do as visiting newbie to New York! I've seen it on TV many times, so had to visit it once! Now I've seen it and don't need to go back but glad I went!!

Yelp
Such an amazing experience, WOW. Decided to visit during covid, not an issue. I liked how calm the crowds were and it allowed everything to be all the more enjoyable. Security & the ticket buying process was very simple. I then started out on the flight deck (the top) and worked my way down. Overall, I loved the information and exhibits present! I think it offers something great & was so much fun to visit. It's not as interactive for kids aside from seeing really amazing jets/the Intrepid, etc. but I still think it's an experience everyone should have at least once! So glad I got to visit!

Yelp
Love the Intrepid! I got my ticket on Groupon and saved $9. I was able to see the space shuttle, Intrepid and the inside of a sub. I came here on a weekend and it wasn't that crowded. I loved the museum, sites and descriptions of the jets, artifacts and exhibits. I would definitely come back here. I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
The Intrepid Museum located on Pier 86 on the Hudson River at West 46th Street is quite a colossal vessel of historic exhibitions, and a mammouth icon representative of our great country. Launched in the year 1943, this amazing aircraft carrier has served us through WWII, Vietnam, Cold War, and assisted in the NASA recovery in the 1960s. The Intrepid also welcomed the Enterprise Space Shuttle in 2012. There is much to see and explore, both Air and Sea adventures of our great military on the almighty Intrepid. However, this review is a reflection of my recent visits, when I have volunteered to participate for the best company sponsored event of all: 9/11 Day of Remembrance. Corporations from all over NYC, gather together annually on 9/11 to pack meals for those in need, as well as those devastated by natural disasters, i.e. the people of Puerto Rico devastated by Hurricane Maria in 2017, and today, for the people of the Bahamas devastated by Hurricane Dorian in late August 2019. I am very grateful for the support of my company, and the many others we see and meet with on this day when 18 years ago there was so much sorrow. We are ONE in our LOVE and EMPATHY to the WORLD on this day and every day. Thank you to the Intrepid Museum for hosting this annual event and to the many corporations who sponsor!! Yelp
I was looking forward to a higher quality experience. After reading a lot on the intrepid and it's history I felt the ship deserved her own narrative of history from the beginning of her conception weighing heavily toward her experience in WW2. The experience from the start is interesting on the lower deck from the start of the tour. Go for the history and experience but if you want more...history and overall quality of the experience..just the ship is amazing but suffers from the tired quality of the museum. The planes outside look ragged from sitting outside but the tour of the boat could have been more extensive as the boat has more to offer; as very little of the boat is actually open to the public.
