Google
Not so sure about the service or food because I only attended a rooftop event and it was beautiful the views are amazing there are two sections, one for eating the other side for music and dancing. When there is an event you either have to be on the guest list or you can also purchase a ticket to attend. I was on the guest list so I'm not sure how you would purchase tickets. love the windows and views you get from this hotel. The hotel itself is what I would call a Great Gatsby's vibe era. Its dark glamour is beautiful

Google
Loved the comedy and the ambiance—such a great vibe! The drinks were top-notch, but the food didn’t quite match the price point. Still, a fun night overall!

Google
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I visited IO Godfrey Rooftop on a Friday night and had an overall pleasant experience. The food was good, and the host and waiter were nice, contributing to a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The view was just okay. While you mainly see parking lots and other buildings, it's not a deal-breaker. The sunset, however, was quite beautiful and added a nice touch to the evening. I went with a group and advised others to have a clear understanding of party/group sizing, especially when it comes to splitting the bill and mandatory minimums. Double-checking beforehand can save you from any unexpected surprises. No professional photography allowed. Overall, it was cool to check out and worth a visit.

Google
I have enjoyed the Godfrey for months, this review is overdue. I’ve enjoyed quiet date nights, intimate birthday celebrations, comedy night and my son’s doctorate celebration. The food has always been amazing (bring back the lamb slider) with perfectly crafted drinks. The rooftop view is breathtaking especially at night. The service is top notch. The management team is very engaging. Over the months, Lita has often greeted our table with words of encouragement and gratitude making us feel like we are part of the Godfrey family. It’s very apparent that’s why the service staff is continuously helpful, nice and welcoming! If you get any opportunity to visit the Godfrey you won’t be disappointed and ask for Lita, she’s sure to make your visit that more enjoyable!!

Beautiful skyline view in Detroit! My wife loved our server (meme) she was fantastic helped us enjoy our anniversary weekend. Food was okay and the drinks were great and strong. Definitely will be back when in town again ask for meme to have top of the line hospitality.

While the wait staff was excellent and attentive. My reservations were specifically for outdoor dinning. We were told a private event can kick all reservations outdoor to inside. We were seated inside on a couch to eat and given small coffee tables to put food and drinks on. It was weird and uncomfortable. I would not have made reservations here if I knew it was indoor seating. I was very disappointed. I wanted to spend the night outdoors as it was beautiful in Detroit. Food was fine. Drinks were good.

Google
The service was amazing. I believe my waitress name was Tina. She was so sweet and attentive. The atmosphere is grown and sexy. We sat near the window. From my seat, I could see the Ambassador Bridge. There are ceiling to floor windows around the lounge, so no matter where you sit, you can see a beautiful view of Detroit. The chandeliers are gorgeous. My main complaint is that the chairs are too low to the ground, so I needed help getting up. Since it's a lounge, they only serve small plates. They are a bit pricey for the amount of food you get; however, I understand that you are paying for the ambiance. My husband loved the spicy chicken wings. The crab dip and fries were good, but the lamb sliders were a little dry. Overall, it was a nice place to visit.

Google
Great location, good vibe, amazing drinks. The only thing to warn you is they add a service charge to your bill that is basically the 20% tip fee, just beware! I wish more places were up front about it. Would go back again. We had the truffle popcorn and gin drink. Very good.

Yelp
We stopped here for drinks before a dinner in Midtown. The view is great and the place is beautifully decorated. The drinks are pricey, but high quality and delicious, unique spins on cocktails. It was December so too cold to open the glass windows, but I look forward to trying it in the summer.

Yelp
This gem hidden inside of the hotel is a little gem. The atmosphere and service were pretty nice. Decor is modern and very clean chic. Seats were comfortable for relaxing. The view of the city is so nice too. You also can see Canada. We went on a Wednesday for the special of the charcuterie board and champagne. Not a bad deal for what you get. We also ordered fries, lobster rolls and sliders. Fries were 10/10, lobster roll was about 7/10 and sliders 10/10. The lobster rolls weren't bad, but some of the lobster was mushy. The bread was amazing they used for it. This place is a little pricey so be aware you go. They did make me a fun mocktail since I do not drink alcohol myself (I know I was there for the special as it was my sister birthday). I would definitely go to this spot again.

Yelp
*** Solid 4-star option for view + tapas. *** The custom cocktails, liquor and wine seem to satisfy everyone I was meeting with here. My 5-star food faves include the wings, crab dip, lobster rolls and salmon were excellent. Hard pass on chip/dip and the caviar bubble. All small plates. Only steak & salmon entrees. *** Valet prkg $25, yet lots is street prkg. ***

Yelp
Great views of the city from this rooftop lounge! Food was good and a fully stocked bar. Most of the plates are smaller and meant to be shared. Prices are a little high but what do you expect right? Seating is not the most comfortable from the high tops of the couch seating. Will for sure come back.

Yelp
This place is beautiful! The view is amazing and so relaxing. I would love to come back here in the summer. When you come inside the hotel, take the elevator to the 7th floor. Reservations are highly recommended! The kitchen closes at 1130pm. The dining area closes at 1am, but the patio is open until 2am. I'm glad I ate before coming because the menu is very limited. The drinks and food were okay. Honestly, the DJ , the wonderful service, and the ambiance are what made the night exceptional. The dj was lit on Friday night. Playing all the hits to keep the party going!

Yelp
My first time at the IO Godfrey Lounge and it was beautiful. Not only the food and the drinks, but the view and ambiance. We shared some food--Chef's Board, Mini Lobster Rolls, Crab Dip, and BBQ burger sliders. All of food was amazing and fast; my favorite dish was the Crab Dip. Then we ended the night with Horchata mousse and lemon meringue ice cream bar which were both phenomenal. The lemon meringue ice cream bar is truly to die for. Everything tasted so fresh! Our server was excellent as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a new spot to go in the city.

Yelp
I am glad I checked it out! There really is no parking, except for valet. I recommend finding street parking which can be a bit of a walk! Nice hotel, the IO Godfrey Lounge is on the 7th floor. Made a reservation which I highly recommend, it does get busy! It isn't really a rooftop, but it does have open windows which gives the feel of a rooftop. I went on a hott muggy day, and it was very very hott up there!! The staff closed the windows and thus the area became a lot cooler! The service was ok and so was the food! I had a Mocktail and it cost more than a drink with liquor in it.

Yelp
We stopped in at the I|O Rooftop Lounge at The Godfrey Hotel in Corktown on a night out. We ordered cocktails Bolivian Sunrise ($16) & Bottom of the Barrel ($19), Fries ($10), Lamb Sliders (2 for $22) and Miso Salmon Lettuce Cups (3 for $18) We both felt the cocktails were underwhelming. Drinkable, but imbalanced. The lamb sliders were good, and the miso salmon lettuce cups were delicious. The service was fine as well. As far as the ambience... it's a beautiful space and will be absolutely amazing in the summer. We both felt the music was too loud, plus there was also just as loud competing music from the room next door where it appeared a private event was being held. 2 drinks and 3 apps for $90+ seemed high to us ($10 for fries and $11 per tiny slider?!?), but this is a hotel so you know prices will reflect a premium. I wouldn't say we won't be back, but I will say there's room to improve, especially with pricing.

Yelp
Had so much fun meeting my friends up here. I loved the Chicago location so was very excited to see the Detroit one. We came on a Monday evening and got seats right by the window which was so nice. The food tasted amazing and the staff was very attentive. We ordered the Nachos, flatbread and lobster Rangoon which I highly recommend. It became very lively around 8pm with music and people coming in. Make sure to book reservations for the weekend because it does get busy.

Yelp
This has to be one of the cutest spots in Detroit right now! The decor is gorgeous, very lounge, sleek and city vibes. It has a great view. I came to just have little snacks and drinks and sadly there wasn't any bar room but the hostess was nice enough to find us a high top table on a Friday night. The only downside to this place was the wait staff. Our waitress took a very long time to come give us water and take our order. We saw some of the staff sitting back and socializing more so than helping customers. But this didn't ruin our time at all. The drinks were really good and strong! Very large portion. We got the chicken wings which were very crispy and full of flavor. The food and drinks were tasty and made up for the staff. You have to try this place if you're looking for a nice night out with good music, drinks and food!

Yelp
Spectacular views of midtown. Most certainly would revisit in the spring/summer months to experience the rooftop highlights. $72 = 3 glasses of wine and crab dip. You're there for the ambiance because I'm sure you can spend less elsewhere for the same menu items. There is no happy hour. The dip comes with potato chips and were highly recommended by server. I opted out for pita chips since I didn't like the pairing.

Yelp
Terrible experience. Zero hustle factor by the bar staff. We waited 25+ minutes for 1 drink. Ambiance felt like an Aloft or a brand new Holiday Inn Express. After an incredible visit to the Book - btw, to FIVE of their hospitality establishments - this was a slap in the face of what Detroit should be.
google avatar

Yelp
What a spectacular night out in the city. Im usually the one who plans out experiences, so it was nice to be surprised. Effort goes a long way! The Godfrey is new to the Detroit's hotel scene. I was excited when we pulled up to the Godfrey and headed up to the rooftop cocktail lounge. The views were stunning! The lounge is quite spacious with two bars. The DJ was spinning some beats and people were getting their groove on! We had so much fun. The cocktails were great and the they offer a nice selection of small plate options. We decided on the lamb sliders and Brussel sprouts. Both dishes were very tasty. I can't wait to come back in the summer time.

Yelp
This place is gorgeous! It's located on the roof of the Godfrey hotel.l which is also supremely gorgeous. The staff are friendly and directed me on how to get to I/O. I ordered the Bolivian sunrise and the lamb sliders. Sliders were good with a kick. Second round got a French 75 and the crispy pork belly. My companion got the miso salmon lettuce cups. I had a taste and they were good, reminded me of sushi. The crispy pork belly was my first time having pork belly and I have been missing OUT! It was so tender and flavorful. The place is spacious and had two bars and lots of seating/places to lounge. The outdoor part was not open yet but I can see that the vibes will be immaculate when they are. I was here on a Monday just to have drinks and catch up with my girl and we had no clue that is THEE night to go! It was very chill when we got there and we were able to drink and vibe at one bar, then we went to the other side where the bar was full but plenty of tables. We snagged a table and about an hour later...the place was wall to wall people. Everyone was dressed to a T and vibing with good energy. We left after a while because that wasn't the kind of night we had planned but I will be back again to partake in the indoor/outdoor vibes. Parking seems like it is probably difficult but I managed to find a spot on the street. My girl said I probably wasn't supposed to park there and they ticket heavy and frequently but I was lucky and made it out with no tickets!

Yelp
I had a great time at I/O. The views alone make this a must try at least once. The drinks are on the higher end, but they are good. We also had some very good food (I would have never thought I'd like beet salad.) The waitress we had was very nice and attentive without smothering.
google avatar

Yelp
What a posh, "zen" spot to experience a beautiful rooftop Detroit skyline at the Godfrey Hotel. You'll dine on artfully composed small plates and cocktails. My dining companion and I enjoyed the welcoming vibes of the elegant Hostess Gail and an incredibly kind and informed server, NeNe. They both give amazing suggestions. One you can not pass is the Roasted Carrot Hummus Salad. It has curry seasoned roasted carrots and grapes with hummus and arugula. All components, sweet..crunchy, spiced, and refreshing. Perfect for bite of texture and flavors, and I would get it again. The Korean sticky wings were super tangy sticky and large, not overcooked. The Llobster Rangoon were light, crispy, and fried to perfection! We enjoyed our cocktail as well ! We'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
I have visited the IO at least four times now. I absolutely love the ambiance and atmosphere. One side of the gives you the restaurant feel and the other gives you the night out on the town. The food is amazing also. The lamb meatloaf burgers have me in a chokehold. Every time I go I order it. The food is phenomenal. Days I get off work and want to relax a little that's where I head to. The service is great and I'm just a happy camper all the way around.

Yelp
My son brought me here to celebrate Mother's Day early on 5/11/24 and we got there just as they opened and they didn't hesitate to jump in and start serving us. Our waitress (can't remember her name) was very very nice, attentive and willing to answer any questions and make suggestions about the menu and drinks!! The Ombiance was a whole fantastic vibe, the music was great, the seating was good, a lot of open space, you could actually hear one another talk! The only thing I wish could have been different was that they would have opened the windows but it was due to weather, I'm sure! It was a lil cool out but they did open a window I believe which helped with the air flow!! But we ordered drinks, we had the Garden of the Gods which was really good, and the Bolivian Sunrise which was also really good! Then we ordered our salads which was the Carrot Salad and the Kale Caesar Salad which were both really tasty and right portion size!! They served small plates but worth every bite! Then we ordered our main dishes which consisted of Blackened Shrimp in a bed of risotto, very tasty with a hint of heat! I really enjoyed that and my son had the Chicken Sandwich which he seemed to really enjoy!! This was my first time here and I really enjoyed myself! No matter where u sat u had a view of Detroit! It was beautiful! I'll definitely be back to enjoy the rooftop over the summer!! Thanks for a great experience and perfect start to my Mother's Day!

Yelp
Tried out this new rooftop today. The bar/rooftop is apart of the Godfrey hotel. Very nice vibe with a view of the entire city downtown. The service was on point, the waitress was very attentive and took time to explain the menu options. We had a few appetizers, including the Arancini and the bao buns. The food was OK. The drinks were phenomenal. I had a "Last Word" and a "French 75" with this Gin called the Botanist by Remy Martin-- very smooth. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for the vibe. I would also love to see it at night. The food options were not the most exciting, but I would be open to try other menu items.
google avatar

Shelley B.

Yelp
My new favorite place. Love everything about this place. From the decor, the servers, the particularly wonderful hostess-Gail, the music, the vibe, and the views. The views! The rainbow you see over the Penobscot building is not Photoshopped. The food is spectacular with attention to flavor detail and innovative ways to prepare dishes. Be prepared however-Definitely small plates and by no means inexpensive.
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
I regret I can't leave a good review. I was very disappointed in the drinks and the ambiance. My cocktail came without a garnish, which for a $20 drink is not really acceptable. Also it was a battle to get them to open the windows on a day with 78 degree weather. I saw a couple leaving when we arrived because they said they wanted to be somewhere outside. I don't know how they calls this an "indoor/outdoor" bar. I believe management seems unaware or disinterested in how things are being operates. Corktown is an amazing area and the view is spectacular, but I'd they don't up their game I'm afraid they won't stay in business
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I had a chance to experience the IO Godfrey Lounge atop the Godfrey Hotel. This is apart of a new hotel that was recently built in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit. This review is for the lounge, we did not stay at the hotel. I'm sure just like the lounge the hotel is very nice as well. Food is served "small plates" style. Pricing is on par for what you would expect. The crowd was steady and seemed to be enjoying themselves. The atmosphere was extremely positive. I would definitely return to stay at the Hotel given the opportunity.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
I LOVE the inside of this building. It's brand new, gorgeous. The lower rating is for the hostess because she was probably the single most unfriendly person I have ever spoke to. I wasn't sure if we were having dinner or not, and she did not like that and didn't want to seat me (spoiler: we did eat a bit). She didn't crack a smile at all, no acknowledgement of any kind. Pass. Our actual server was REALLY nice, and did a great job. Drinks are good but of course expensive; we only had fries and they were good but not worth 10 bucks. I would come back, for the view and drinks.
google avatar

Rudy S.

Yelp
Amazing views of downtown Detroit and tasty food. My friends and I had the best time at the IO Godfrey Lounge which is located on the 7th floor of the brand new Godfrey Hotel in Corktown. The food we ordered was spectacular. The best was by far their tomato and goat cheese salad. I'll definitely will be back. Highly recommended.
google avatar

CJ M.

Yelp
Neat spot! Great views and decor! The drinks were pricey but the atmosphere was top notch. The staff was a little behind, but I think it's because it's a new spot.
google avatar

Miss W.

Yelp
We stayed at the Godfrey New Year's Eve weekend and this lounge's atmosphere is super sexy and upscale. The drinks were pricey but delicious. The view is amazing! I didn't have any food. The menu options weren't appealing to me and the items were just as pricey as the drinks. With the exception of one hostess with curly hair, the staff and bartenders were not overly welcoming or even friendly but I can say overall they did appear to be attentive toward customers.
google avatar

Kesha S.

Yelp
The ambiance is some of the best in the city of Detroit. This is a great place for a night out with friends or a significant other. The food is not traditional bar food but my party enjoyed it. It's small plates so we had some of everything and tried all three desserts. I personally love the lemon tart and my strawberry lemon drop was perfect. My server was the great she offered menu suggestions, suggestions about the best place to take pictures. We had a great time.
google avatar

Kasey C.

Yelp
Maieasha is so sweet and and an absolute Rockstar of a bartender. My drink never went empty. Will certainly be back soon

Lori J.

Yelp
I have been here twice and both times were great! It was a vibe and I had a ball chilling on the rooftop enjoying the ambiance & live music! It was very chill, laid back and on some "grown folks" type of atmospheric vibe! I would definitely go back and visit this place again.
google avatar

Noah K.

Yelp
My friends and I were feeling like going to a rooftop bar and getting a nice view of Detroit's skyline. We saw the IO Godfrey Lounge pop up on our search and had to check it out. Unfortunately, outdoor seating was closed, BUT we were able to still get a great view of the skyline through the huge glass windows. The ambiance was fantastic and love the lighting inside the bar. Drinks were strong! And the chili fries were definitely spicy but overall great. The service we received was also fantastic as she made good recommendations and was very attentive.
google avatar

Tamara K.

Yelp
Will try brunch next time because the food in the evening was mediocre. We spent too much for two drinks and two small appetizers that were mediocre at best. Service was great -- Dak was our waitress and she was attentive. Gail was the maitre'd and extremely gracious and elegant. The views are spectacular but the lounge was also freezing with ice cold fans that blew cold air that made it so uncomfortable. This is a lounge not a restaurant.
google avatar

Nancy J.

Yelp
View of the city skyscrapers is fabulous Food menu sucks big time. The drinks are creative and awesome. I just wish they at least had some good appetizers. Not.

Mary K.

Yelp
I've been here twice now and I will back again. The lounge is gorgeous and the food and cocktail options are delicious. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I'd recommend this location for a GNO, party, or date night. The view at night is so pretty and the architecture is beautiful. Overall, good vibes here.
google avatar

Demetrius S.

Yelp
For this bar to specialize in craft cocktails with an adjacent ambiance the drinks were less than unsatisfactory. I ordered a Boulevardier that literally caused me to vomit it was so poorly made. The service was also lax.
google avatar

Atem A.

Yelp
Ok so I decided to give this place another try and i will say they have made some big changes to the menu. The fries have significantly improved though i will say needs a bigger sauce carrier. The menu has removed and added a few items and i got to try the lamb burgers and these were so tender, juicy and flavorful i just wished there was more or any sauce on it and it would have been a solid 8.2 but with the low amount of sauce ill have to give it a 7.7(still great burgers). The drinks this time around were directly from the bar from the special Monday menu and were amazing especially the rattle snake which was super flavorful and a pretty drink to look at.

Ed K.

Yelp
Very nice great food and atmosphere, looking forward to coming back. The view is amazing
google avatar

Ava Y.

Yelp
Not at all impressed, we were sat immediately infront of the door to make the place look like it was full and I went around the corner to find a bathroom noticed that there were so many more desirable places to sit out of the way of everyone coming and going. The 3 of us ordered a combined 7 drinks, a couple of which had to be sent back because they were just gross. The prices are also insane, like you're in Chicago or NYC. Definitely don't want to go back.

Nicole B.

Yelp
This was the most atrocious dining experience I have had in 7 years living in this city. The server had an attitude issue the moment she came up to the table and couldn't be troubled to take our food order until 30 mins after our drink order in which she put my friends hot latte in front of me, and then I said that it wasn't mine and she just shrugged and it was also supposed to be a cold latte. We had to ask to have our food order taken; never got any water refill, and when she did finally take the order she walked away from the table mid order. I got up to see the manager and he ended up taking over the service at our table. Once he took over it came to light that she had never put our order in and my friend was informed that the salad she ordered wasn't available. They did reduce our bill by half in the end and even that wasn't enough to undo the awful service.

April C.

Yelp
These are their lettuce wraps. Served Cold! The atmosphere was great! The view was wonderful!
google avatar

Jojo M.

Yelp
Great place. Nice view and ambiance. Service was great. Haven't tried the food yet but will be back!
google avatar

Heather G.

Yelp
Great vibes and views. The service was fine, and they added 22% since there were 7 of us. I understand adding service fees for groups, but 22% seems steep. We just got drinks, and they were pricey. Looks like a great spot for a private party.
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
SERVICE WAS GREAT Tabien was our server AMBIANCE WAS GOOD FOOD was a thumbs down. Portion sizes are absolutely terrible. It's like $30 plus dollars for a dinner which actually look like appetizers. Worst part here it is... I got food poisoning. The meat smelled bad and tasted off but I didn't want to be rude and send it back I wasn't thinking I didn't even eat much of the meat just some of it and it was for sure food poisoning not the stomach flu because no one else in my home got sick. I knew the meat was off I should have sent it back. I called the restaurant to notify them after my episode and no one called me back a manager was not available and I left a message with I believe it was the host. I wasn't trying to be rude and complain but simply didn't want anyone else to get sick. I spent an arm and a leg on a dinner that I ended up vomiting up later and couldn't even get a call back from management. This is very concerning! My sister works at Hilton and she was in shock from what I experienced. I will not be returning to this place.
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
service is not great but i think just understaffed at the moment. the server himself was great just took almost 20+ minutes to put any orders in. food itself was 10/10. came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. the food itself will have me coming back.

Mariah T.

Yelp
The place is beautiful. I had 2 drinks and both were good. I guess the waitress didn't put my order in. My boyfriend finished all his food and I still didn't have my food. Just to get home and my food be nasty. I got the shrimp and dirty rice. The rice is not fully cooked and taste nothing like dirty rice. I want be back.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
Sinking ship for sure. Opened way to soon. So many little thing that need to be addressed from front of the house and back of the house and construction.

Angela Z.

Yelp
Love!!! I have zero complaints and nothing but praise. The food was exceptional. My fave were the lamb sliders. Atmosphere was divine and whoever did the interior design is a genius. Our server, Tavin, was one of the best servers I've ever had. Professional and personable - keep this human treasure at all costs!!! Would 100% recommend going.

Yelp
I came here for drinks with my friends and it was a great experience, very good vibes. Drinks were good and the music made me want to stay even longer

Yelp
Ambiance was incredible. The view of downtown was amazing. The sunset reflecting off the buildings was spectacular. The food was ok, nothing to write home about no complaints.
