Back at my beloved spot in Reading Terminal Market, the lively atmosphere never fails to captivate me. If only I could come here daily, I would gladly do so. The array of produce available here is truly impressive, with various sections scattered throughout the market. The assortment of fruits and vegetables is particularly noteworthy, showcasing top-quality items. Moreover, they offer a range of dairy products such as eggs, juices, and fresh herbs. Beyond that, their selection also includes nuts, granola, dried fruits, as well as an assortment of chocolate and yogurt-covered treats. Surprisingly, the prices here are quite reasonable, despite the misconception that visiting Reading Terminal Market may prove to be costly. During my recent visit, I picked up a few bananas, but I am already looking forward to returning after the new year to scour for deals on Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and spinach - staples in my daily diet.

This fresh markets provide a fresh produce vegetables and fruits from the their own farm in PA. It is so popular among neighbors and visitors. All staff members are kind and nice. I guarantee their produce are excellent in quality and price wide. It is one of my favorite shopping place in the center city.

Iovine Brothers Produce first opened their stand in the early 1990s, and it is their commitment to fresh, quality ingredients and exceptional customer service that has made into local legends. Today, it is a go-to destination for center city residents and visitors who want cheap, fresh, quality produce. It is a bustling corner in Reading Terminal Market where you can find a wide array of specialty produce in addition to the staple items you’re familiar with. Be sure to stop in for your common and exotic ingredient needs. From onions and carrots to gourmet mushrooms, exotic fruits and vegetables, cold pressed juices, and a whole wall of nuts, beans, seeds, dried fruits, and trail mixes, Iovine has your culinary needs covered. If you can’t find something you’re looking for, just ask a staff member. Chances are, they have it. Checkout lines can get long during busy/popular times, but they move very fast. When I lived in Philadelphia, this was my go-to produce spot. There are very few locations in the vicinity that offer as much produce with low prices.

We absolutely love Iovine Brothers Produce at Reading Terminal Market! As a mom juggling feeds, meals, and picky eaters, having a go-to stand with fresh, colorful—and affordable—produce is a lifesaver. Most Saturday mornings we wander in and I’m always struck by the vibrant displays. There’s a real sense of abundance and care in how everything is presented.

I’m in love with Iovine simply b/c they stock FRESH curry leaves and they’re the only centrally located grocery store in Philly that stocks it. The only other store that has it is in West Philly and is hard for me to reach by transit.

Quality produce and 100% probably pear, pineapple, and apple fruit juice combo all in a bag. Great deal and so hard to get. I am happy to have this bag today. Green onions, grapes, peaches, onions, brussel sprouts, Carrots, cucumbers, asparagus!!! Iovine is a classic Philly quality produce market of RTM. I don't have to tell you any of this if you are local. Finally got something from here after decades! Iovine is a dependable quality Philly produce classic.

We came here to purchase drinks. They had a large variety of fresh produce, quick meals to-go and drinks. Pricing was fair for most items we saw. The space wasn't super busy, but there were always workers around if you needed assistance with anything. I would definitely recommend coming here!

Racism is still alive! Today on my layover in Philadelphia, I visited the Reading Terminal Market with a fellow flight attendant. After purchasing some dried cranberries for a recipe, I decided to keep the receipt, which I typically do not do. About ten minutes after leaving that side of the market, a security guard approached me, alleging that I had stolen the item. I promptly showed him my receipt, which confirmed my purchase. He then radioed to other officers to verify the situation. When I requested to see the individual who had accused me, I was taken to him. I expressed my concerns about being falsely accused, but he appeared to find the situation amusing and even posed for a picture. This experience highlights the serious implications of wrongful accusations, which can lead to unjust outcomes. I believe it's crucial for businesses to ensure that their staff is trained to handle such situations with respect and care. As a result of this incident, I will no longer shop at Iovine's Produce.

I wrote a review of Reading Terminal Market on 11/27/21, stating I can't stand the place. That feeling goes back to childhood and has not changed an iota over my life. When I have been forced to shop at RTM, the only business that I find worthwhile patronizing continually is Iovine's. The several positives that bring me back are: In a sea of dirt, slow moving, cattle-like crowds and foul odor, it's clean and pleasant. The variety of pleasing, fresh, sometimes unusual and always well priced produce in such a relatively small area is impressive. Their fresh juices and always picture perfect, pre-made fruit and vegetable salads are a delight in a sea of the wretched, greasy, dull food stands around them. Staff are consistently helpful, upbeat, quick and friendly. I can shop here, have a chat and a laugh and feel good about my interactions with everyone I encounter and leave feeling stress free, kindly toward my fellow humans and unsullied by the RTM miasma. There are bargains to be had in the way of their grab bags. Last but not at all least-Due to where this vendor is located, I can get in and out of Iovine's with complete ease and do not have to walk through the claustrophobic, fetid horror of RTM to shop here. I can also make a very speedy retreat from the Market to the outside where fresh, breathable air awaits. Long live Iovine Brothers Produce!

Good selection of fresh produces. After a long day of shopping delicious food at Reading Terminal Market, we had to stop and get some fresh fruit or veggies to make us feel better lol! We opted for the small fruit salad: watermelon, pineapple, cantaloupe, & melon. Perfect breakfast (with Beiler's Doughnuts lol)! Will definitely come back and try their massive salad.

The fresh juice was SO good! We opted for orange and pear, pineapple, apple. Both were delicious and reasonably priced. All of the produce appeared fresh and nicely stacked. Highly recommend if at the market!

Located inside the Reading Terminal is some wonderful produce at amazing prices. If I lived in the Philly area much of my produce shopping would be here with a carry cart. I took a walk thru on a recent vacation looking for some healthy dinner options and wasn't disappointed. I found a huge vegetable salad with cucumber, tomato, multiple color peppers, carrots, cabbage, romaine for $5.99 and it could have easily had been an entrée size salad for 6-8 people. The salad was located in the back of produce area near registers. The veggies were all fresh and flavorful. I also picked up 2 large pink grapefruit for $1 which is like getting 1 free. I highly recommend the produce for freshness and deals found here, in a simple to maneuver area in a sometimes chaotic Reading Terminal Market.

Came here to buy some cows. Should have gone to the Bovine Brothers. They sell a lot of different types of produce and it's a really nice fruit n veg market right in the heart of the greatest Market in the region - the Reading Terminal Market. While you're here, wander over to Miller's Twist and get a hot pretzel and a lemonade. Also try the Pot Roast sandwich from Smuckers. Trust me. Anyway, the produce prices are shockingly low, and the quality is sky high, but then so was my mom last night.

When we walked pass Iovine Brothers Produce on our way out of Reading Terminal Market, I was drawn in by the vibrant colors off all the produce! I really wanted a smoothie or fresh pressed juice and there was a cooler of locally unique, pressed juice. Grabbed a juice to go and walked through the market quickly to see what was offered. If I lived in Philly, I would definitely shop here for fresh ingredients!

I was surprised to see that I've never reviewed Iovine Brothers Produce with as many times that I've been through and made purchases at the Reading Terminal Market. IBP is always fully stocked with the most colorful array of produce available. They also sell prepared salads and drinks and nuts and goodness. The variety is great and I've not had a bad purchase here. Today, they had Brussels sprouts for $.50 a pound! Roasted Brussels sprouts with Tubby Olive (see my review!) olive oil and salt and pepper as part of my dinner tonight! The lanes can get very crowded especially those with carts. You have to be patient at times. Why am I knocking one star? I find most prices to be high but there are bargains to be found if you look. Overhead and rent and volume have to factor in their pricing. Staff are always friendly and willing to help if you ask.

While I didn't give the place 5 stars, it is definitely the best produce place in Reading Terminal. (For some reason, each time I've come here I've not seen any Asian pears so I've had to go to "OK Produce"). The fruits, veggies and nuts are fresh and varied (encourages me to try new vegetables and recipes so I don't fall off the diet wagon as often). You might be tempted to load up your basket, do yourself a favor and just get a cart. Im glad they provide these. The aisles are decently sized so that people can move freely (for the most part because some people are always inconsiderate) through them while browsing. Even though this place is pretty popular, the lines move quickly; I really appreciate how efficient the cashiers are. The prices are ok, not bad. You could probably find less expensive but I don't mind paying for the quality and convenience.

I'm torn about my feelings for this place. Good selection of (usually)fresh produce; lots of hard to find items. Decent organic section, and always have some organic stuff on sale.Prices can be high on some items, but some great bargains can be found as well,Especially at the front & outside aisle. Can get crowded at peak times & before holidays. The main thing that annoys me is the recent labeling of where the produce comes from. Example...twice sweet onions were marked as local(Pa)..the sticker said Peru. Today sweet onions were labeled as Vidalia/ Mexico...huh?Sticker said USA,but real Vidalia onions say Vidalia on the sticker, as the real ones,by law, can only come from certain parts of Georgia. Yeah, like champagne. Besides that I still enjoy shopping here. Stop misleading Iovine!

Large selection of fresh produce at reasonable price. It's an easy stop for some groceries right in the corner of reading terminal, while grabbing other delicious food in the market! Student discount of 10% on Wednesdays and Sundays, though they already have some great prices without the discount. They also give you nice hefty bags to carry your groceries. There are typically 4-5 people working at the checkout line, which goes quickly even during busy hours.

I've been doing my produce shopping here almost every week for 5 years now. The prices can't be beaten, the food is fresh, and I can find almost anything I'm looking for. There is always a good selection of herbs as well-cilantro, scallions, parsley, etc. Especially in the summer, they always have fresh berries at great prices. A pint of blueberries is $1.99 here that would probably be closer to $4 elsewhere. The staff is nice and helpful whenever you can't find anything. Tip: If you are going on the weekend, try to get here early in the morning. It gets crazy by late morning/early afternoon!

This is my favorite place in the city to do produce shopping. They have a great selection and I enjoy that they sell $1 grab bags instead of tossing out the 'damaged' or turning fruits and veggies. They also have a yumy selection of pressed juices and pre-made things you should check out while your there!

Man, I really want those berries (Rasp, blue, straw-berries) And I don't plan on sharing (Even though it's caring) Grab myself potatoes And a few tomatoes Ginger, cukes, and 'cados, Grab-bag, feelin' loco. Iovine is groovy, Looks better than a movie Peach emoji like a booty Fresh produce is their duty. This lil gem has been a fixture of the Reading Terminal Market for years. Iovine Bros Produce has good prices when you compare a Whole Foods or other speciality produce markets. I love stopping by this market during lunch as I try & prepare my dinner menu. The selections are vast and they have some hard to find items (variety of peppers). Sometimes the crowds and all the food can be overwhelming, but the lines move pretty fast--so it is worth the trip.

This produce shop is awesome! Gotta say, there is tons of care for the food's quality, price, and service given. When I stepped on the premises I admit it was kinda cramp but I did not mind it. I noticed that most of the quality was very good and the employees were discarding any items that were not up to their standards. At the check out counters, the positivity did not stop there. I noticed that the prices were pretty reasonable with the quality and it was welcomed by a friendly accommodating employee. My line had some trouble due to the customer and not the employee. Another employee saw it and she opened a new line for us to speed up the flow. Overall, good service, quality, and price. I'll come by again. Gotta grab some free produce cause gotta get those micronutrients in, ya know ?

I kept seeing everyone walking around town with bags from Iovine so I googled them and they get great reviews! I checked them out in Reading Terminal Market, the only merchant that I bought from at my trip to the market. They have such great prices!!! Only $1.99 for ORGANIC blackberries! That would easily be $4 or $5 in a grocery or produce store in Center City!!! I'm laughing at myself because I mistakenly bought the squash which looks similar to cut, cubed cantaloupe, I bought it thinking it was cantaloupe, lol, haha, jokes on me for not reading the label! I'm really looking forward to baking the squash with brown sugar and cinnamon! Seriously though! I've lost a lot of weight and I'm eating much more produce to help keep the pounds off, eat a healthier diet! Produce is rather expensive at many Center City grocery and produce spots. I'm thrilled with my purchases and the price can't be beat!!! Win win in my book!

Best place in Center City to get fresh produce. Prices are cheaper than or competitive with most local grocery stores. If they have specials on certain produce you really can't beat it. They also have a good selection of unique items you can't always find at grocery stores. You can easily do your weekly grocery shopping here and at other vendors in Reading Terminal Market at a better price point than most local grocery stores. They also offer a student discount!!

I've worked here for 3 months, before I had my fill. The family that owns the store comes off as very sweet and kind, but so do wolves in sheep clothing. Not only will you have to deal with privileged snarky customers, but they will also throw their money at you and talk to you any kind of way and management is very okay with this. The bottom line of every business is to make a dollar, but when you own a business, can hide in an office and delegate and not really be in the thick of it---how do you know what your employees are dealing with. I went into this job happy and optimistic. Now: I'm in therapy. -job has high turnover rate -for $9 IT IS SERIOUSLY not worth the bullshit -if you decide to work there be on guard: from all of them. A smile means NOTHING in that store

I bought 3 plums here for us to snack on during the bus ride back to MA, and it only came out to 57 cents.. Wow, talk about finding a good deal on produce here. Also, their kale, apple, pineapple and cucumber juice was stellar, and only 4.99. The variety is EXTENSIVE. Fresh produce,dried beans, nuts, grains, spices, my God it's overwhelming!

All the fresh herbs, veggies and fruits you could ever want! Helpful staff. Great looking organized produce sections. Fun juices. Nuts, dried fruit, too. Great prices! Lots of value.

Besides just the prime location and high quality, affordable produce, the customer service is what really makes this store one-in-a-million. My mom and I were intrigued when we saw a yellow watermelon; we had never seen one before so we were wondering what the flavor profile was like. When we asked one of the workers, he got what seemed to be the manager to help answer our question. As soon as the manager heard our question, he immediately grabbed a pre-cut container of the yellow watermelon and offered some for us to try (and of course, took the container off the shelf after offering it to us). It was so sweet of him to go out of his way to offer it, even without the expectation of us buying anything. If I were a Philadelphia resident, I would definitely make this store my central produce source!

In one corner we have Iovine Brothers, in the other we have a grocery shopper. Who will win out in the battle weekly grocery shopping!!! -ding, ding- Iovine Brothers has the freshest produce in the market. This place is great to hit up during week in the morning. When I was in school, I would come here at 8am on Mondays and there would be no one so I could easily get my shopping done. Even though the market is very crowded on Sundays, Iovine Brothers has a student discount. They also have dollar grab bags with slightly overripe products - but still usable! Even with these two things, I still recommend comparing prices with OK Produce (who always have a student discount) to get the best deal. Many people just notice the produce, a pro tip is to check out their fresh pressed juices that are delicious and the wall of prepackaged nuts and dried fruits. Just keep in mind, Iovine is not always the cheapest when it comes to these products. In the end, Iovine Brothers can be your one stop shop for your weekly grocery shopping but you might end up spending a little more than you expected.

I have been to Iovine produce a countless number of times and honestly - they rock ! There is so much produce and it is soooo cheap. For the most part it is always fresh. However I did have a bad pick of some clementines during my one trip. Grant it, at the next to nothing cost, I couldn't really complain. I love that Iovine has such a wide variety of products that you won't see at most grocery stores, especially not in the city. They also have juices which sound delicious! I hit Iovine's first usually and end up tiring myself out due to the sheer weight of produce I stock up on. Always a favorite ! They also have fresh pressed juices, ready to eat salads, and more ! Their lines are fast. I just wish they had more space! It would be grand! Also , if you're in a rut for dinner and are rather creative or are looking for fruit to bake check out the "ripe" grab bags! Great deals!

I come here at least twice a week so I guess it's time to write a review. Iovine Bros is my go-to produce spot because I know they'll have everything I need, stuff I will impulse-buy because it looks cool, and the prices are great, but the best part is that their bags fit perfectly in my garbage can and no leaks because they use paper AND plastic! Looking for cassava, black garlic, fresh tarragon, an assortment of pumpkins, or cotton candy grapes? Iovine Brothers will have it, if it's in season, of course. Big plus because they're constantly re-stocking the bins and I have never had a problem with the freshness of their produce. I'm used to Texas supermarket prices (H-E-B will always have my heart), so I'm pretty conscious of produce prices when I visit grocery stores. From what I've seen at the nearby Center City stores -- I'm talking about TJ's on Market, Whole Foods and Acme on South, Target on Chestnut, OK Produce, and Chinatown stores, Iovine has the best selection and almost the best prices. Sure, I could just go to Chinatown and get stuff for cheap, but their produce is often questionable. TJs is also cheap, but it doesn't have the selection. Whole Foods and Acme are just expensive and I only go there when I'm in a time crunch. WINNER: Iovine Brothers! Tip: it does get pretty crowded, so I like to come on weekdays before 5 or Sunday when I can. Plus they offer 10% student discounts on Wednesday and Sunday!

They had a lot of fresh produce and their prices weren't too bad. I didn't know about the student discount on Sundays until I read other reviews, so I'll definitely be going back with my ID card. This will probably be my go-to vegetable and fruit store from now on.

Want to give a shout-out to Iovine Bros in Reading Terminal Market. During these tough days of staying in, they offer astounding service. They are one of the providers through the Mercato app to Queen Village. I had ordered from them and they asked how they did, and though I praised them, I happened to mention some old bananas I received. They texted and promised free new bananas with my next order. And when I wanted to add to my next Mercato order (which you can't do on the app), they said they were putting it in by hand for me! AMAZING kindness... and great produce.

This is my all-time favorite produce store in all of Philadelphia. The veggies and fruits are very fresh, reasonably priced, and quite often 50-65% cheaper than any of the grocery stores in or around the city. I have been going here for 5 years and absolutely love it! On Wednesdays and Sundays - Students with ID and Senior Citizens can get a 10% discount!

Popped in again and yet again was pleasantly surprised by the brilliant ripe tomatoes here off the vine... $1.49 a lbs, it's cheaper than the beef steak tomatoes at the regular grocery store. And seedless watermelons starting to come into season, too. Still just as busy, too.

I used to shop in a long time ago but it's kind of hard trying to get down to the Reading Terminal to find parking and to shop for fresh vegetables and fruit. A couple of weeks ago my best friend invited me out to lunch and she had to pick up a fruit tray so we had lunch and later we picked up her fruit tray for her nice prom. When I seen the tray it was beautiful the fruit was cut evenly the top of the tray was made into a circle design of fruit. I asked my girlfriend how much did she pay for the tray which is a large one she said $40 which wasn't a bad price if you seen all the fruit that was in the tray. The tray was so heavy that she needed help to get it to her car luckily we found parking close by. So the following two weeks I believe I placed the order over the phone look the number up on Google and hopefully I have found the right location because I the name of the produce market. Bingo I did find the right one I placed an order over the phone a guy answered the phone and asked me what size fruit tray that I wanted I told him I would like a large fruit tray and would like to pick it up on Saturday this morning I asked him what time they open he told me he ate I said that's great because I have to be to work at 9:45 so mean while reading terminal is in Philly and I work in New Jersey what's this so I ask my husband to ride with me so we can get the tray I can run back home put the tray in the refrigerator and drive to work. So when we got there in the morning at 8 on the. It wasn't no parking close to the end of the produce market so I asked my husband to sit in the car and I'll just go and pick it up and ask someone to help me bring it to the car. When I walk down to the counter it was an older lady making a tray in the back what you can see her then someone else walked up to me to ask if I needed help I said I'm picking it up a large fruit tray the young lady that was helping me ask the lady in the back what's the name of the tray she said someone named and it was not mine they looked at the bottom which must be a refrigerator under and they did not make my tray the older man that took the order over the phone never place the order thank God she was almost finished the one she was doing and started on mine but it was little confused because no one didn't know what was going on because of the guy that took my order if he had took it and wrote it down and gave it to them wherever they put the information I would have had my fruit salad pay for it and took it to the car and drop my husband off and the tray and drove to work. So they was trying to figure out who took my order it really didn't matter and the time because all I needed was the tray and get myself to work so I wouldn't be late. Even to the owners walked over to find out who took the order I did another crazy thing was they did not even have a large tray where she was planning on making my fruit salad tray. Thank God she proceeded in making a salad the other young lady around me up but I could not even wait for someone to take it to my car I asked the young lady to bag it up she act like she didn't know how to beg the thing up I said yes the bags work in the white one because my girlfriend brought one a couple of weeks ago and they bagged it up. So I carried it to the car which it was so heavy and thank God it was a big hit of the party it was a nice day and everybody enjoyed their fresh fruit. I will definitely go back and buy another tray and also try to get there early or my day off to go shopping there and that's why I gave them a three-star because it was so much confusion all I wanted to do is pick up my tray pay for it and be on my Merry way. And they also have cotton candy grapes but they was too expensive for me to even buy some so next time I'll try to buy some then was $8 and $9 dollars a bag

I cannot explain how wonderful this place is. It is THE best produce to buy in the city. I have consistently bought produce for two people for a week or two and have never gotten out of there over $15. They are constantly having sales on fruit - last week I got a punnet of blackberries for $1, this week it was blueberries for $1. All of the veggies and fruit I've bought there have been unbelievable flavorful and long-lasting. On Wednesdays and Sundays, you can get a 10% student discount.

Iovine's is the best! I come here once a week or more. The sales are awesome and the owner Butch is so helpful. He sends out the best emails updating us with sales and recipes.

For the price and quality of the produce, Iovine is great. I go here as often as I can to get my fruits and veggies and find myself always spending less money than I expect to. There's a student discount here on Wednesdays and Sundays -- just show your ID (the people at the front will sometimes ask you if you're a student, but often, they won't). Also, they accept credit cards. I find their produce slightly more expensive than OK Produce (although it varies), which is the other place I check out when I'm shopping for groceries in Reading, but their fruits and veggies seem more fresh and overall just better here. There are tons of different places to eat in Reading Terminal Market, but make sure you don't miss the opportunities to find great produce here as well!

I live in NJ across the bridge just about 6 miles away from Philly, work a few blocks from Reading Terminal and have come to Iovine Brothers Produce (IBP) a few times for fruits never any other items but TODAY, was a lesson in "This is what it feels like when you don't pay toooo much!! Had b/fast at RT and decided to pick up a few items at IBP, while there so we could avoid going to our favorite luxury organic market. Well, slap my butt and call me Silly... Who knew the prices here were so low? Clearly, all but me. I purchased fruit & veggies to include sweet potatoes, Brussel sprouts, mixed greens, arugula, 3 types of apples, bag of Halos, sesame oat bran sticks, raspberries, blackberries, grapes, strawberries, bananas, a slice of watermelon, mango and broccoli all for under $40.?! What? I am so sold on this place. Yes, it is small, aisles are narrow, and so it can be cramped but for the prices you get here, can't be beat. A few items I was able to snag for $1 and a couple others were under $3. The fact they use a local farm for their produce gets them even more appreciation. I'm sold and this place will definitely be a part of the weekly errands, just need to come early to get a good parking spot.

I love this place! For a few extra dollars they'll cut up your melons so you won't have to carry the whole one home! Their prices are competitive and quality is always very good to great. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and very nice to customers!

I've always been a huge fan of Iovine Brothers and the Reading Terminal Market in general. There is so much to like about this place. Their whole goal is to sell fresh and local produce at great prices. Every single time I go there I come home and want people to guess how little I spent because I think I got such a great deal. Also, I just discovered their "grab bags." These are slightly damaged, or older, and just not great looking fruits and veggies they put into bags and sell for $1 each. That being said, the stuff is still great. There was a lot of good stuff yesterday, and there's nothing wrong with it; especially if you're going to use it the same day. So, for under $7, I got: 10 Tangerines 3 Asian Pears 1.72 lbs of green beans 6 bananas and 2 tomatoes The food is much fresher than produce at local grocery stores, and I love going through the market on a busy weekday.

Always come here for produce. The freshest of the fresh! Great service and wide selection. Love this location - inside the Reading Terminal Market (always a big draw)! So much to choose from. Go to Iovine and be inspired to make a refreshing salad, sizzling stir fry or hearty stew from their fruit and veg. Delicious!

WHY HAVE I NOT BEEN BUYING MY PRODUCE AT IOVINE SINCE I MOVED HERE?! Sorry. But all caps were necessary. I'm mad at myself for wasting 2 & 1/2 years of my life getting produce anywhere else. Great variety, great quality, crazy great prices! I spent $35 today for 2 huge bags full of produce, my granny cart was close to overflowing on the walk home. I would have spent AT LEAST twice that at WF, but probably closer to 3x as much. A couple weeks ago, they had ripe bananas, 3 lbs for $1. What?! Amazing! Especially since I freeze my bananas for smoothies. Game change right there. Also notable is the friendly staff. One cashier loved my Fruit & Veggie Dance Party tattoo so much she called her boss over to see it and then she asked to take a pic of it. Clearly, these are my kind of people. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend.

When I go grocery shopping in Manhattan, trying to find great produce makes me sad. I can go to the corner deli where they have a couple week-old oranges and some green bananas, or I can go to the local 'real' grocery store so I can pay $5/lb for mini asparagus. Ridiculous. Iovine is waaay on the other side of the spectrum. Super fresh, large variety, shockingly cheap prices. I hoard the fruits and veggies like Upper East Side women at a Bergdorf Goodman end of year sale. And then when I get back to NY from a weekend in Philly, I start shouting at my roommate what kind of plunderings I've brought back, '$2 for tomatoes! $1 for nuts! $1 for spinach!! ONE dollar!!!' with a maniacal glint in my eye. Iovine makes me proud of myself for being able to cook a meal under $10. It emboldens me, makes me feel self sufficient. It's so perfect.

I never has shopped for produce as much until I found out about Iovine Brothers Produce. Everything is so inexpensive and FRESH!!!! Don't get me started on the $1 grab bags which are like Unbelievable!!! If you do not know produce in your normal supermarket (Fresh Grocer, Pathmark, etc.) is so expensive and most of them times not even fresh. At Iovine I bought 2 green peppers for under $.70 I went to Fresh Grocer for 1 green pepper it was $1.40 Another example, Shoprite had Red Onion for $1.64 a piece I went to Iovine got 1 red onion for $0.44.... Also now I have a new favorite which I love is portobello mushrooms they are so delicious but expensive in markets. Fresh Grocer ranges from $4-5 for just 3 portbello. Yesterday I went and got 3 nice sized portobello mushrooms for $2.30 Also their is Student Discounts on Wednesdays and Sundays... You really save coming here!! I DARE YOU TRY IT!!!

A friend mentioned how he stopped buying his produce at TJ's and started shopping at Iovine Brothers. Not being too enamored with TJ's either recently, I decided to give this place a try since I wanted to start making some juice. I was able to stuff 3 reusable grocery bags with fresh fruits and veggies for $60. Tons of kale, cucumber, green apples, ginger, lemons, grapefruits, oranges, clementines, tomatoes... etc etc. It was all high quality and pretty fresh, and I liked the fact that I was supporting a local business. The only down side was the several block walk to my car with all of this produce. I would give it a solid 5 stars if it weren't for the Jesus pamphlet slipped into my groceries by the cashier. I'm not sure if she could sense my unholiness or if I had atheist written on my forehead that day, but I much prefer to go about my day without any thought towards organized religion.

About two months ago I purchased a Blentec Blender. I didn't know it at the time but this is what my life had been missing. You can literally put ANYTHING in it and it will turn it to juice. Now I've got a bit of a Little Shop of Horrors situation going on and the Blendtec seems to constantly be yelling "Feeeeeed me Noahhhhh". And if it wasn't for Iovine Bros I'd probably have gone broke a while ago feeding the beast's insatiable appetite. I buy an ish load of leafy greens (kale, chard, spinach) from here and they can be a bit suspect. I fill up my sink and give them a pesticide wash when I get home and it usually exposes a few stems that aren't quite up to code but it's never much and easy to throw away. I also get oranges and apples and I've never had an issue with them at all. Always delicious and the variety is outstanding. (Fun fact, yellow delicious is the second healthiest apple). To be clear, this is not the farmer's donkey pulled fruit cart of yester years. Unless it's marked organic you can assume it's a GMO industrially grown Monsanto product but as long as you are thoroughly washing everything well enough I think the benefits outweigh the negatives. Lastly the service there is amazing, they whip you through the line and for me have never messed up an order. They are friendly and yesterday asked me if I was a student (which is weird bc I look a solid 30+) and I said I go to grad school and they gave me a student discount.

This place is a must for Center City dwellers. The produce is fresh and very cheap. The best part are the tomatoes, they charge 1 or 2 bucks per pound for what would cost 5 or 6 at a grocery store. The grapes and citrus fruits are usually incredibly cheap as well. This is a great place to visit when you are making salsa or sangria, it saves you a lot of time and money. My only complaint is their tomatillos are in packages in the refrigerated section instead of loose. On weekends, it is a madhouse, like the rest of RTM. And around Thanksgiving- forget about it! All bets are off. Small children and the elderly will be trampled in the rush for yams! But the checkout lines always move fast and there isn't a minimum for credit/debit cards.
