Ipswich Regent Theatre

We took our 2 and 5 year old to see Bluey at the Ipswich Regent Theatre and it was such a lovely experience. The show was bright, funny and really engaging for little ones – they were completely captivated the whole time. The best part was the ending with the bubbles and giant bouncy balls coming into the audience. It felt really interactive and magical, and both kids were absolutely buzzing afterwards. Just a small heads up for other parents – there are balloon sellers outside at the end and they’re £10 each, so worth being prepared for that conversation before you leave! Overall though, a brilliant family show and a really special day out.

Saw Kevin Wilson there, excellent venue, disabled friendly access via lift and plenty of room. Friendly staff. Be aware that there is NO PARKING at this venue, but there is a brilliant multistorey car park that is part of the shopping centre and cinema complex just around the corner. Plenty of restaurants nearby to cater for pretty much all tastes.

Recently visited for the Cinderella panto. Absolutely loved it. Great casting, very funny. I've never been here before and the upgrades were mentioned in the play but my initial reaction to the theatre itself was this is really lovely. Comfy deep seats, even while holding my infant. When entering the building the bar area looked well stocked and clean. We didn't use the bathrooms so I can't comment. The panto was brilliant and I'd recommend future shows to anyone if the writing is anything to go by. Well done

Really good theatre, comfy seats, huge bar so didn't have to wait long. Helpful staff. Much better experience than most London theatres!

Great experience at the theatre last night watching the Rocky horror picture show. The new refurbishment looks great, the staff were all friendly and even had someone managing the queue in the ladies toilet.

Have visited the theatre in several occasions for different shows and find it to be a wonderful venue. Seating is comfortable and there are two bars making queuing time short. There is plenty of parking within walking distance.

Nice theatre. Really impressed with the hall. However, well need to improve bar area and toilets. Also add extra staff for the show break periods. Went for another show and stayed in the box. Very tiny, if you sit up in a front it’s nice and view is great, however if you sit at the back it’s a bit restricted view. Would take it for 2-3pl but not for 4.

A wonderful venue. I attended a concert there recently. I was a bit surprised to find that they didn't have a cloakroom. This was a slight problem as I had traveled from Manchester and had a large overnight bag with me. The staff were fantastic and the duty manager took my bag and stored it safely in his office leaving me free to have a great time. The theatre itself is lovely with very good acoustics. I had a great time. After the concert I was very well looked after by the security manager who, when the manager came down with my bag opened the ladies toilet to allow me to change. He then carried my very heavy bag into the staff car park for me(as I was travelling with the organisation) keyed me into the car park!! I was treated very well by a attentive and friendly staff, its a great venue and I can't wait to return.

It seems to me to be a pretty typical theatre. Nothing really stood out as being fantastic about it and nothing seemed to be terrible. They seem to have a decent range of acts and shows on, and the seats that we had gave us a decent view and didn't seem too cramped, and the ticket prices pretty average. Just a small complaint - there isn't much parking nearby, so there is a bit of a walk to the largest car park, but I wouldn't let that put you off. It's on the edge of the town centre so handy for there if you want to go and find something to eat or drink.

Nice theatre!! A bit hot when full but nice for the town and its close to a few good chinese resturants.

We have been to Ipswich Regent a couple of times now to view shows - the most memorable of which was Jack Dee which was so funny I had sore sides laughing. The theatre is located in the centre of Ipswich and there are a number of car parks close by. The layout of the theatre is really good and you can get a really good view from wherever you are sitting. There are a number of big acts which come to this theatre and you can find the list of all upcoming show on their website. You can also book tickets online which is handy.

An OK theatre with loads of potential! Ive been to about 5 shows at the Regent, things that I notice: The Seats and seating layout is very good, The Bar area is very poor. As well as this you have to que for about 10 minutes to reach the circle. The variety of shows per season is not good. Its such a shame to see a theatre with so much potential end up how the Regent has. The Regent has so many things right and a little bit very, very wrong. Parking is generally easy (you'll have to go to the multi-storey Crown a few hundred yards away) and it's relatively easy to find, even for an outsider as it's on the ring road. Once inside, you're likely to feel at home. You'll have seen it all before - lots of red, velour and velvet, dark wood bar etc. It's had a refit recently, though the changes aren't that apparent to the untrained eye. Seating is comfortable and staged so that you'll have a good view regardless of seat. Disabled access appears good too. Some of the bookings recently have been amazing. Rufus Wainwright and Foo Fighters to name just 2. However, it fails to impress on a couple of fronts - the bar upstairs for one. Now I don't know if they ran out of money, but this has so much potential that I could cry when I walk in. It should be a thriving hub day and nightas it is, you want to neck your drink and scarper asap. And secondly, the very poor marketing of the place. Go to the website and you'll be lucky to get the damn thing to stream in any kind of date order!!! It's such a basic thing, but it's enough to stop me even looking there anymore. For goodness sake - get it sorted!!!! Ipswich Regent ok but not there yet.

I go regularly and have seen some great shows. A real suprise this year was the Great British Variety Show where (and I never thought I would say this ) The Krankies were absolutely outstanding. I usually eat at the beautiful County of Suffolk pub a hundred yards away before the show and drink there afterwards. Lets hope this venue survives rhe crunch.
