The Regent has so many things right and a little bit very, very wrong. Parking is generally easy (you'll have to go to the multi-storey Crown a few hundred yards away) and it's relatively easy to find, even for an outsider as it's on the ring road. Once inside, you're likely to feel at home. You'll have seen it all before - lots of red, velour and velvet, dark wood bar etc. It's had a refit recently, though the changes aren't that apparent to the untrained eye. Seating is comfortable and staged so that you'll have a good view regardless of seat. Disabled access appears good too. Some of the bookings recently have been amazing. Rufus Wainwright and Foo Fighters to name just 2. However, it fails to impress on a couple of fronts - the bar upstairs for one. Now I don't know if they ran out of money, but this has so much potential that I could cry when I walk in. It should be a thriving hub day and nightas it is, you want to neck your drink and scarper asap. And secondly, the very poor marketing of the place. Go to the website and you'll be lucky to get the damn thing to stream in any kind of date order!!! It's such a basic thing, but it's enough to stop me even looking there anymore. For goodness sake - get it sorted!!!! Ipswich Regent ok but not there yet.
