Where To Get Food From The African Diaspora In Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Like Philly Elmo or Iverson, the curry goat at Irie deserves the next shoutout on Abbott Elementary. The tender cubes of lamb come floating in curry sauce that’s oniony, peppery, and has a subtle ginger flavor. The portions are also so big that you can expect every main and side dish to spill over the edges inside of the takeout tray (they don’t have a dine-in option). But we’re not complaining—a curry goat, jerk chicken, mac and cheese, or rice mashup might be the greatest Philly combination since an open parking spot and a lawn chair." - candis mclean

Absolutely delicious. I ordered the brown stew chicken with the reggae cabbage and rice and peas. Seasoned perfectly and fell off the bones. Good customer service. Clean atmosphere. Highly recommend this gem!

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I had to after today’s experience. This was my first time visiting, and I’m so glad I decided to stop by instead of ordering online. The young lady at the counter wearing glasses was incredibly warm and welcoming. She gave me a confident, honest recommendation when I asked about the brown stew chicken, and her energy made the whole experience even better. The food? Flavorful, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The small platter was generous and hit the spot — not too much, not too little. I left in a better mood than I came in and will definitely be adding this to my go-to spots!

The food is good rice is good not dry, cabbage is good even though i asked for greens, the there is the oxtails very flavorful and good except they are cut into a half of a half!!!! I ordered a large and got a medium of oxtails pretty much. Thats my only problem!!! Flavor is great but my whole platter was full of rice barely any cabbage barely any oxtails. Why cut the oxtails in two half. Im from California n we don’t cut it into two half. Great flavor though.

Im a born jamerican from New York. Lived in the South Jersey area off and on for the past 10 years. We finally have a jamaican restaurant that makes food like my parents and family used to make. I recently made a last minute catering order and they knocked it out the park. Brown stew chicken, curry chicken, oxtail, jerked wings, rice/peas, mac n cheese and cabbage. Everyone raved about how good the food was and even took home to-go plates. Everything is authentically seasoned and fresh. The staff is always very accommodating and greets with a smile. I recommend this place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Remember to grab a couple beef patties to go!

This restaurant is the best kept secret in south jersey. The owner & staff were very delightful and the food is excellent. If your looking for some delicious food, look no further. My wife and I ordered oxtails, greens,Mac & cheese, cabbage, brown stew chicken, curry goat and potato salad. All the food was exceptional, definitely worth the drive. Thank you ladies may God continue to bless you and your restaurant!

So I ordered online in order to save time, since we were just driving through, I placed my order at 6:35 and it was supposed to be ready between 7:05 but no later than 7:10 pm. My order was not even in the works when I came to pick it up at 7:08. I didn’t walk out of there until 7:35pm! An hour later! Then my husband and I wanted to eat our plantains and coco bread on the road, plantains were so under ripe they were like “cardboard “ (is what my husband called it) and you could taste frost bite in the coco bread. I’m really hoping our main meal is better🤞
