Went for St Patricks day, I know, but…. Packed place, $10 cash only cover, outdoor seating and music/entertainment. Wife was told no reservations allowed two weeks earlier, but inside seating by reservation only??? Paid the cover and got indoor seating immediately. Cant hear outside music inside. Limited menu. I thought our server didn’t like brown town, but according to my wife, he didn’t like me. Whatever it was beer was cold, fish and chips were mediocre and under seasoned. Cole slaw. a bit heavy on the mayonnaise. Fries were decent. Overall experience on this crowded day was lower then expected. Indoor seating on a hot day was nice. Valet parking helps too. Oh yeah my first beer was served in a plastic cup in a dining room with white table cloths. I thought it strange. Didn’t take a pic of it. I doubt I’ll go back.

My partner and I was looking forward to trying something different outside of the city. I have heard good things about this restaurant and so we came. I have to say the food was ok, my partners food seemed cool Not Hot and if I didn’t order extra duck for the confit it wouldn’t have been worth it. Calamari was flavorless the server seems more interested in sitting and taking breaks that we had to request someone to grab him so we can order beverages for our meal. When we asked a server for advice she said she doesn’t speak English?????? Hiring workers who can’t communicate with your guest, not the best choice I also noticed a lot of seniors, I guess this is where they get their reviews from because the food seemed bland and the services what lacking.

Feb 2024: 2nd time here and first review. This is a nice inn in the woods. There is is outdoor, indoor and bar seating areas. Very cozy. Nice paintings on the wall. The fish and chips were a 10/10 and the fish tacos were 9/10. The tacos had nice pickled shredded peppers inside. The special lobster soup was fresh and zesty. 9/10. Thank you. See you again!

We went there for brunch back in December with relatives we were visiting. We sat in the nostalgic bar area and enjoyed the Celtic art and decorations. Our breakfast servings were all to our liking and the waitress and the maître d' were polite and attentive. When in the area, I would like to go back for dinner.

Enjoyed a beautiful Saturday afternoon dining at the Irish Inn. Food was excellent, waitstaff attentive and friendly. They were very accommodating in my request to have a crab cake as an appetizer even though it wasn’t on the menu. Had the flourless chocolate cake for dessert, substituting Baileys Irish ice cream for the plain vanilla. Dined outdoors which was an additional enjoyment.

Google
Excellent food and experience. Went with friends who dine here often. Sat inside but outside looked lovely as well. Waiter made good recommendations and everyone's meals were terrific. The deviled eggs were outstanding. The only thing that I thought was just "okay" was the Guinness bread pudding. Surprising. Maybe it was just me.

I didn't go here with very high expectations but I was pleasantly surprised. Food turned out very fresh and delicious. Especially the fish dishes. Got calamari, Fish and chips, shepherd pie, beef stroganoff, crab dip, bread pudding, Jameson cake, cinnamon twist.

I don't drink much anymore and rarely go to bars. I was to have a casual first date with a woman who lives in the area. She had complications because of traffic so I only had on beer and left. It was "happy hour" but there isn't any happy hour pricing. The atmosphere is cluttered inside. Not because of too many people but just tight accommodations. It felt too stuffy so I took my beer outside to the open air tables, which felt like sitting in a parking lot. I'm not one to dwell on trivialities like this so I leisurely enjoyed my beer, paid up and left. The bartender and staff were friendly. The clientele were pretty bourgeois but expected for the area. The beer was extremely overpriced ($11 with tip) for such a mediocre experience. In hindsight, I'm glad my date fell through as I wouldn't have been feeling any magic with her with the overall vibe of this pub.

Yelp
Great food and homey atmosphere. The only things that are holding back a higher score for me was the strange interaction that we had at the hostess stand and the hot and humid temperature of the bar. My son and his girlfriend met me at Glen Echo to walk around. We decided that we were hungry and The Irish Inn is conveniently located in walking distance from the park. When we walked in, the woman at the hostess stand ignored us for an uncomfortable amount of time then... just looked at me. I finally asked if we could just grab a seat in the bar and she said "if you can find a spot." Fine. We went and sat down. The bartender was cool and jovial, so I just let it go. The bar area is very homey and a fun pub atmosphere. They've got some great beers on tap as well as the standard fare that you'd expect at an Irish pub. If the place wasn't so warm and muggy, it would have been great. Our food was fantastic. Very flavorful and nicely presented. I got the Shepherds Pie, which should be made with mined lamb; this was made with minced beef so it's actually a Cottage Pie. I knew that going in so I was happy with it. The flavor and preparation were amazing. And even the salad that came with it was above expectation. The Irish Inn is a very good spot. The attitude when walking in greatly affected my experience. I'd go back, but next time I'll just walk straight through the bar door and dress lighter.

Yelp
This place has existed as long as I can remember although I've never stopped in until today. They have plenty of indoornand outdoor spots to sit and they do a brisk lunch business on nice days. I had the Shepard's pie, which was fine if not amazing. The service was cheerful and attentive.

John B.

Yelp
Service was OK. Food was great. We also had the potato leak soup and the hamburger. Both very good. Atmosphere is nice. They charge for every lemonade refill but they did not tell us.

Ken M.

Yelp
Irish food, no. Shepherds pie was just OK and the fish and chips were greasy. service can be an issue when the weather is bad and people have to crowd in the bar to get out of the rain.

Brady B.

Yelp
Everything was absolutely beautiful. Service was friendly, the food was good and it's a fun place for all.

Jen M.

Yelp
Walked in here from Glen Echo park. I had the fish and chips, it was good, but I wish there was a little more seasoning in the batter. My kids had the cheeseburger and they said they loved it. The best item though was what my hubby ordered.... Catch of the day ... from the kids menu!!! A nice piece of salmon with brown rice and veggies. It was delicious. We also had the Mediterranean platter that came with hummus, veggies and pita.. not exactly Irish but it was good. I should have probably gotten a beer too... it was that kind of hot day, but didn't want to be drunk and walking around glen echo with the kids... take your kids for a ride or several at glen echo for $5 and then walk in to the Irish inn for a nice meal!

Yelp
The Irish Inn has been a standout in the area for decades. In recent years, the live music and step dancing on Monday nights has drawn a regular crowd because the entertainment is the best in the area. Located next to historic Glen Echo park, The Irish Inn is a classic Irish bar with a separate room for quieter dining and an outdoor seating area born from the social-distancing of 2020+. It can get wild with the music! I have seen and listened to no less than some 10 fiddlers playing music, the youngest being perhaps 8 years old and the older ones accomplished musicians. This is a great group of rotating musicians that clearly love the venue as much as any guest will. Not only music on Monday nights, but every day the food is really very good and reasonable in price. The service is very good and professional ("your usual?") The salads are exactly what you expect, the burgers are very good and my favorite --fish and chips-- is always perfect! There are a number of alternative dishes, each is tasty and well done. Irish beer & local craft beer on tap. A selection of whiskeys and spirits that befit an Irish bar. Come for the music, definitely come for the food, and meet some friendly folks who like to chat.

Yelp
Cozy, tucked away in the parking lot near the Glenn Echo Park. I decided to stop in and have a drink. It was a nice autumn night and it begged for a toddy. I walked past the picnic benches and festive party bulbs into the pub side and it has the nice dark wood surrounding the bar. It was smaller than I expected, but there were about 10 seats at the bar, a good half a dozen high tops to sit at. I ordered a Bailey's coffee and it was okay. I enjoyed the 80's music and just chilled. The staff was nice, I don't think I'll pay $12 for coffee and Bailey's again, but I would definitely go back to try the food since I arrived after the kitchen closed ( but got to watch the staff chow down on some food behind the bar).

Yelp
I had culture shock when I heard some folks speaking Spanish inside, and then I realized it was Cinco de Mayo. Also, I changed my normal dark beer & heavy entree to a cider & a grilled fish. Sometimes it's good to go against the grain. This place is right near the Glen Echo Park, but I'm too old for popcorn and hotdogs. The style is pure Irish pub, with plenty of seating, and they have a small private parking lot. The bartender served me quickly in a quiet corner and answered my questions nicely. Very pleasant experience.

Burak K.

Yelp
Good food with very reasonable pricing comes with 20 years of experience. We had Mediterranean Plater, and I had Irish breakfast. Both were excellent!

Juan C.

Yelp
Wonderful location. Stop by on your bike ride or visit to Glen Echo Park. Inside and outside dinning. Fish and chips was "different" but very fresh and "fries" for potatoes. Service is dedicated though I'd like to see more personnel over fewer tables. It was a great lunch We really liked the waiter! Parking is open, free ...

Yelp
Having grown up in NYC, Irish bars are a dime a dozen. Service tends to be slow, and decor and ambiance is dark and murky. Not so the Irish Inn. The menu was balanced, the beers plentiful, and the music pleasant. I stayed traditional and enjoyed the Shepherd's Pie. It was delicious and well made. My fiancée ordered Bangers and Mash, and again, success. Their waitstaff was impressive, and seeing the place packed on a Wednesday as we left, I could understand why. I highly recommend The Irish Inn.

Yelp
2 Sundays ago, my husband, our good friend from Wales, and I enjoyed a delightful Sunday brunch experience in the Pub. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and Justin made us feel right at home. This was our 4th brunch at The Irish Inn at Glen Echo and we will be back again. But only for brunch. Because things took a significantly darker turn after the shift change when the vibe in the Pub grew tense. When requested by a new, not-so-friendly friendly server, we willingly gave up our table to make space for the band and moved to a high top table closer to the bar. Our welsh friend was in the mood for a Bailys Irish cream coffee and ordered 3 from the same server, one for each of us. But what he served us were 3 coffees with whiskey. Mistakes happen, no biggie. The server was nowhere in sight for quite some time. So finally she got up and went to go speak to the bartender who'd just begun his shift, regarding the error. While there, she pre-paid him for 3 Bailys Irish cream coffees. She returned to the table and told us that the bartender had accused us of drinking the coffees with whiskey. Then the same bartender came and served us our 3 Bailys Irish cream coffees, leaving all 3 coffees with whiskey on the table. After considering the news of having been unjustly accused, I gathered all 3 coffees with whiskeys, which neither of them had bothered to clear from the table, and returned them to the bartender so he could see for himself that we had no interest in them. Then went back to to table to try to continue having a nice time. Later our welsh friend wanted to introduce us to a Bailys and Cointreau so she ordered 3 of those from the server. She was right. They were delicious! Then, the not-so-friendly server surfaced and presented my husband with a bill for $85 for 6 drinks. Only 3 of which were outstanding - the 3 Bailys and Cointreau - because the 3 Bailys Irish cream coffees had already been paid for directly to the bartender. Over the next 15 to 20 minutes the same not-so-friendly server, with the support of the bartender, insisted multiple times that we hadn't paid for the 3 Bailys Irish cream coffees. When, in fact, she'd paid the bartender directly for them with a credit card, but wasn't given a receipt. Still, they both kept insisting we hadn't. When asked, the bartender claimed the system didn't keep records of payments, which still seems implausible. FINALLY he remembered the transaction and gave us a bill for the correct amount. We're all 3 very reasonable people with reasonable expectations. But by that time we had been so unfairly harassed we had no interest in staying for the music in what became a hostile atmosphere. After spending easily over $250 for the 3 of us our whole experience soured. If we weren't able to look back at the delightful brunch experience we enjoyed via Justin's crew, we would never again return to The Irish Inn at Glen Echo. But we will. We just won't stick around after the shift change for the abuse. p.s. Sorry, Management at The Irish Inn at Glen Echo, but you left me no choice. I really didn't want to go public with this experience, but it's been going on 3 weeks since you received 2 copies of this report. The 1st was directly through your website the next day. The 2nd came to you privately a few days later through Resy.

Yelp
Excellent service, quality food at reasonable prices, and as expected a pub atmosphere

Yelp
I guess I had high expectations for this historic place coupled with the fact that it was Friday night and I was looking forward to spending a nice evening trying a new-to-me restaurant. We were glad to be seated outside on this lovely spring evening but it took some time for anyone to even offer us water. When we looked around at the other tables, we were disappointed to see that water came in plastic disposable cups but other drinks came in glasses. We asked for the water in glasses and our server seemed extremely confused. I guess people don't think about disposable plastics in landfill much these days? It just doesn't make sense to me to have real plates and utensils but have plastic cups. We ordered the seafood stew and fish and chips. My stew came with two pieces of garlic bread. Upon first sip of the stew, I thought it was a tad too salty. I definitely needed to slurp it with something bland like the pile of mash in the center of the bowl and take many bites of the bread. I finished one glass of water before dinner was over and needed another glass because of the saltiness. Unfortunately, our server never came back, not even once, to check on us. There were shrimp, scallops, three mussels, and a couple of clams in the stew. The broth was tasty if not for the extra salt. The scallops were dry so a little disappointed overall. The fish and chips were just fine but my dinner companion thought there was not enough fries. The fried fish was piled on top of the fries in those small metal baskets that you normally put only fries. We also got our check from someone other than our initial server. Overall, the service was the number one reason for the less than stellar evening. Parking: If you're not familiar with the parking situation, it may look like they have a small lot, they do, but you can find parking if you drive all the way around the building. There is parallel parking all along the road and a scattering of spaces as you go around.

Yelp
Just a great place. Friendly atmosphere and service. Plus good food at reasonable prices.

Julio P.

Yelp
Good food for everybody, plenty drinks & good service, organized ambiance. Parking was not an issue.

Thomas M.

Yelp
Had Saturday night dinner with 9 people. Our server (David) provided prompt and impeccable service. Everyone was very happy with their meal. Including Rack of Lamb, Beef stroganoff, Guinness stew, chicken pot pie, roasted Salmon. Appetizers and desserts were all equally good The atmosphere was lively and everyone friendly. I highly recommend the Irish Inn

John K.

Yelp
Great food, fast friendly service. Corned beef, pot pie and Reuben were excellent. We'll be back.

Edward S.

Yelp
We have been there for 51st and 2d anniversaries and hope to continue this streak. Food and service are terrific.

John O.

Yelp
I have eaten at the Irish inn several times over the past few months and the service is always consistent and the people very friendly -the food is what I would call American/ Irish and depending on who is in the kitchen can be hit and miss the most authentic and most consistent is the Irish breakfast on weekends with pork sausages and Irish bacon, black/ white pudding etc - it is the BEST in the DC/MD/ VA region- also the soup of the day is always excellent and the home made Ice Cream which takes some culinary skill they also pour a decent pint of business - The decor and building could do with an upgrade as the FF&E is dated but overall well maintained. Well worth a visit

Brian S.

Yelp
We came on a Wednesday night and had a great time. The cover band was playing some great tunes and people actually danced. I was really surprised to see on the wall above my table a flag flow by my old unit in the Army. My wife had the reuben sandwich and I had corned beef and cabbage, both were very good. She commented on her sandwich being made from the same cut of beef as mine but that it didn't have sour kraut like some places do. We did ask for a dessert menu but decided to pass, feeling quite full.

Andrew W.

Yelp
Excellent food, atmosphere, and Irish music. Staff is professional and engaging. The owner Christi really cares about his customers and their experience. Parking is simple, free which adds to the overall experience. I've been many times and will continue to do so. A real gem in the Bethesda perimeter.

Emma W.

Yelp
So... where has this place been hiding??? It's a little out of the way for just a spur of the moment, but if you're hiking the C&O or visiting Glenn Echo, this isn't too far! Outdoor seat galore and indoor too... some of the door has umbrellas and some sheltered... so pretty nice. The wait staff is awesome, funny, and knowledge. Good suggestions and the such. However I can't believe that their speciality coffee machine was broken!!! Only regular coffee... good thing there were refills! The New England clam chowder was second very nicely. I only had a bowl but could've had more. The Baileys Irish cream French toast was awesome and loved the bacon! Would definitely come back... mmm....

Joseph H.

Yelp
I liked it. Old school Irish bar like feel. I did not sit in the dining room section. Outdoor tables available too. I had Guinness steak and noodles that was pretty good. A couple of Harps and good to go! A few desserts looked good too but cannot remember what they were sorry

Nicola M.

Yelp
We stopped in for brunch last weekend, and it was wonderful! Each table gets a basket of scones with fresh whipped butter. We started with the calamari - it was super fresh and hot, right out of the frier. It had the perfect amount of breading and was accompanied by a nice remoulade. The Bailey's French toast was unique and out of this world served with choice of Nutella, strawberry or maple syrup - really a must have show stopper. The fish and chips are a staple here! It was also nice and fresh with large potion of fish and fries. Beer batter on the fish not too thick and very flavorful. Quiche of the day was shrimp, pepper and onion served with salad greens. It was good, but the rest of the meal was excellent.

Suzanne P.

Yelp
The tavern here has a great casual atmosphere. The pour a nice cocktail and have a great Irish beer selection. Excellent service.

Imran S.

Yelp
we were going for a family lunch and decided to try the irish inn at glen echo. it's in a beautiful location surrounded by a national park and lots of trees and nature. we sat in the covered patio (that was heated because it was cold outside) and ordered the fish and chips, the irish stew, cheeseburger and flatbread margherita. the irish stew was decent, the fish had good breading but needed more flavor, the chips/french fries were excellent, the cheeseburger decent and the flatbread topping tasted like you could make at home. the complimentary scones were amazing! overall, excellent ambiance and nature with average food

Yelp
BEWARE : USE CASH IF YOU CAN : READ YOUR BILL, CAREFULLY!!! Jan2023 - On a $75 bill with a few friends, I left a $24 tip. I round in such a way I know if something is off when I see the charge on my card. I was not going to make a big deal of my $24 tip getting changed to $29. I know the times are tough for service industry folks, so I let this slide. Feb2023 - The bartender tried to slip a drink from my neighbor at the bar onto my tab. I came to eat dinner and only drank wine, so when I saw a beer on my tab I was confused. While I have bought drinks for women at bars before, I was not trying to buy this person a drink, she was kind of rude when I made light conversation and seemed preoccupied with her phone and writing on napkins. Her weirdness was enough entertainment, and I was happy to just watch her franticly text and scribble her notes out on the bar, but I am 100% positive I never offer her a drink. Yeah, the bartender fessed up and made the correction, but if I didn't look at my bill, I might have not caught on to this. Despite this, I left a reasonable tip. Mar2023 - Went again with a friend, and we ordered a drink that was Grey Goose with a splash of Baileys on top. My friend drinks these often and it is usually a sub-$20 drink in the surrounding area. I was a little shocked to find that 6 drinks cost $150. Turns out they charged us $12.50 per ounce for Grey Goose and $12.50 for a shot of Baileys, so 2 drinks in 1 glass. We were never told, we assumed we were getting ~$15 each drink. When I asked the manager, he explained their policy is that they have a drink list, and if you order ANYTHING off the drink list, they charge $12.50 per ounce, rail or non-rail liquor. Again, it would have been nice if we were told this before ordering 6 drinks. I then asked how much a Long Island tea costs, seeing that 5 liquors would make this a $62 cocktail. The manager replied that drink costs less because "we use 1/2 shots", but that still brings the price down to $31, with rail liquor! (Based on their method of pricing). I did check and the official recipe calls for 1/2oz portions of the 5 liquors in that cocktail. I was so upset I went back and checked my charges for the last year at this place, I had about 6 visits over the last 12 months. Lucky for me, my bank has credit card records that go back that far online. I found they had adjusted the tip the previous September 2022, this time it was a $34 tip altered to $39 once again. The other charges appeared to not be altered, so 4 honest charges out of 6, with 2 having the tip adjusted by their staff. Not worth the trouble for $5, I will live with the fact they altered the amount I tipped them after the fact. Honestly, I do not feel welcome here. I like the food and atmosphere of this place, and the music is spectacular. Despite all of this, I might go back, but I will 100% bring cash and never drop my card here ever again.

Yelp
Not likely to return. I went in today at the lunch hour with my friend to just grab a beer and enjoy our break. Upon ordering the drink, I was carded and presented my license. The waitress informed me that she could not serve me so I checked to make sure it wasn't expired and once I realized it wasn't, I asked if there was something wrong with my license. She then told me she would have the manager come over and explain so I politely obliged. As soon as the manager came over to our table, without acknowledging either of us, he immediately began reciting a Montgomery County policy about vertical licenses versus horizontal. I live in Virginia and I regularly use my vertical license to obtain drinks at bars and restaurants so this was the first time I was hearing about it. I never mind being told about a business policy, however, it wasn't until he made the statement, "if you don't have the gumption to replace your license, we don't have to serve you." It was hard to even come up with a response because of how rudely he was speaking and how dismissive he was from the jump, which was then confirmed with my friend after he left our table. I'm never one to write reviews, and I am typically always trying to give people certain benefits of the doubt. However, it wasn't until he facetiously called the ID policy "fascist," insinuating that I probably would have said something to the same extent later, that I realized he was condescending to me for pretty much the entire interaction. He never once apologized for the inconvenience, he essentially called me lazy and entitled. Needless to say, I won't be returning, and I highly encourage the manager of the establishment to learn how to speak to a patron, especially when answering an extremely simple question.

David H.

Yelp
Pretty dated interior (which I guess is part of the theme) and food is very average. Stopped in recently as it was nearby another stop with family - favorites were the calamari appetizer and the bread, everything else was just ok (soup, crabcakes, bangers and mash). I'd return but wouldn't go out of my way for it

Lori Z.

Yelp
This is a solid choice of restaurant, friendly service, decent food. It's in a location that doesn't have a lot of other options, so it doesn't take a lot to stand out. I consider it the friendlier cousin of Old Angler's Inn. More accessible, less pretentious, less expensive but still pricey. I'd give it 3.5 stars had that been an option, but giving it 3 stars felt like an insult. It's better than that. I don't go out of my way to eat there, but I usually enjoy myself when I do, and sometimes I want to sit somewhere nice in Cabin John.

Lynne F.

Yelp
Love this restaurant. I have always had excellant food and service there. On Monday I had ricotta with Lobster and asparagus. Perfect. Lots of Lobster and the riscotta and asparagus were cooked to perfection.

John F.

Yelp
7/20/20 On this past Saturday, we return to this restaurant. I will be including writing about this restaurant in one of my books too. On this day my dad wanted to celebrate my birthday. This was the first restaurant that came to mind. Why? Oh that is easy. Because of the Sherpard's pie. I was planning on ordering the Sherpard's pie with a side of the yummy baby potatoes, but the potatoes weren't available on this day. The pie was delicious as the first time I ordered it. The dessert was delicious too. I don't remember having the apple tart pie lady time, but I also did eat in the Greenroom either. The green room was packed last year when I was here. Today we were the only ones eating inside the restaurant...unless people were eating upstairs. I haven't see the second floor yet, but I will come the next time we are here. We had two servers and one of them looked like a kid I knew by the name of Ben Sidies, but it couldn't have been him. He started our orders, but got busy with other orders later on. The other server took over and did a phenomenal job. I don't remember his name, but I would like to say thank you. We shall return. Oh, I forgot. This restaurant is an Irish themed restaurant, but this time around the food options did not seem like authentic Irish Cooking. Maybe the Coronavirus had something to do with the cooking options. Most people were eating outside even though you had the option of eating indoor. The restaurant inside and outside for the Coronavirus protection plan. Hand sanitizer was available for the people who needed it.

Kristi E.

Yelp
Fantastic experience! Food is unbelievably delicious! Service is always so friendly, even when it's a busy time! We sat in the bar area and enjoyed the experience as much as sitting in the restaurant area. Will be back soon!

Nicole G.

Yelp
The Irish Inn has expanded outside and it now feels like a fun beer garden in nature! We enjoyed grabbing draft beers and dinner after our hike. The food was mixed but I think you come here for the ambience. The fish & chips was great but the shepherd's pie texture was off. Would go back and try more standard items though!

Rachel H.

Yelp
I went here for brunch with some friends and it was a lovely little spot. Our waitress was really nice to all of us and checked on us often for water and coffee refills. I tried some of the baileys Irish cream French toast and had topped it with Nutella and it was HEAVEN I definitely needed the extra eggs because I wasn't too stuffed after finishing my French toast and sausage it came with. My boyfriend ordered the Irish breakfast (which means I get to eat it too) and everything was so good. The tomato with the meat was a nice contrast. I really liked this place & would come here again!

Clare O.

Yelp
I was here yesterday with a friend and let me tell you this food is to die for. I wanted to take pics but didn't want to be that tacky person in a nice restaurant doing something, so I didn't. This is the perfect spot, right on the water. It has ample parking (just make sure your e break is on lol). There are two sections, the bar area and the dining area, which also has a covered/heated patio. It's such a nice little intimate setting and the staff is phenomenal. My friend and I had the seafood bisque (in a red sauce) that was extremely fresh and literally amazing. It was the perfect amount of heartiness, and not too much so that we were too full. We then split the lam stroganoff (which I wasn't sold on) but omg was it to die for. I never though I'd be on here raving about stroganoff, but here I am. The lamb is so tender, the noodles are in-house made, and the flavor of the dish is just unmatched. I can't explain how this little restaurant makes the flavor of lamb stroganoff complex yet delicate- you just have to visit for yourself. 10/10 recommend it as a must if you're in the DMV.

Yelp
Amazing! Ordered the halibut and crab cake, both came out amazing. Service was A+ as always. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
We got the halibut (large portion served with rice and broccolini in a very nice light sauce), Reuben (served with fries), and the calamari appetizer. All were excellent. I highly recommend the halibut as it was tender, flaky, melt in your mouth and seasoned just right. The photo I took only shows half my meal since I shared it with my husband . We had excellent service.

Yelp
Dropped in for a drink on our anniversary (12/14). NO ONE was masked but we were turned away because we didn't have a mask at the door. I literally stood and looked around the room. Only the bartenders were masked from where I stood. No one the room at bar level was masked. NO ONE but we were turned away. My family has celebrated Holy Communions, Confirmations, and birthdays here. The gentleman (I use that loosely) at the front door was unmasked as well. So many good vibes down the drain.

Yelp
Decent but underwhelming food, inconsistent service, combined with very high prices lead to this review just barely scraping up to three stars (honestly, it probably should just be two stars). This restaurant is a landmark, though, and I *really* want it to be excellent given its wonderful location (proximity to Glen Echo Park and just a quick turn off of Clara Barton Parkway) and iconic name and history. Have given it a shot several times over the past 15+ years, but it always comes up short, sad to say.

Yelp
Thanksgiving dinner on 2019. Loved everything about it. Warm atmosphere, attentive service and most importantly, mouthwatering food. Plan to go more often

Yelp
My family stopped in here while on a walk. The staff was warm and friendly. They took care of us immediately and made the kids especially feel at home. We didn't end up ordering much, but the server kept checking in to ensure we were doing well. I can't wait to come back here with a larger party to try the whole menu!

Yelp
First time going here. My family went for St Patrick's day. It was 6 adults and two babies. We reserved ahead and they put us in a private room which was perfect. I was nervous about the babies but the team at the restaurant was very accommodating. The restaurant was older but charming. Staff was fantastic. The food was slightly above a average but our expectations given the beautiful location were met.

Yelp
Good pub fare in a nice setting, but a little-overpriced. My wife and I each had a couple of drinks, a cup of soup, and fish and chips, and the total bill (before tip) was $116. The food was good, but, really, was pretty standard pub fare. The atmosphere is nice. Very cozy, clean, and warm dining room. You can also eat in the pub, which is pretty traditional (wood booths and floors, tvs, etc). The staff is good too. The waitress was really nice and accommodating. Friendly, professional, but not so professional that service wasn't warm. Location is pretty convenient--about 5 minutes off of 495, right over the va/md state line. In sum, good pub fare and environment, but you can probably find similar options for 20-25% less.

Yelp
The prices they charge are too high for the mediocre food they serve. I got fish and chips and it was nothing special. It seemed like they were especially stingy with the fries. Hostess and waiter were cordial, though. I only go here because of its close proximity to my house.

Yelp
I went there with family to celebrate her birthday. I was not very impressed with the staff and I thought that the food was adequate, though nothing spectacular. In addition, the prices were very high. $19 for a cheeseburger? I don't plan on returning soon.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place for years and finally did. Pretty disappointing. The interior is homey but dated and a bit musty smelling. The food was no better. The hamburger was fair, the bun was supermarket quality and I can't stand frozen (battered) French fries. The Caesar salad was ok; the gazpacho sucked (literally tasted like tomato sauce); the mussels were plentiful but nothing to write home about; my wife said her corned beef and cabbage was "fine" but nothing memorable and my 85 year old mother who isn't picky said the crab cake was "ok." Certainly not worth the $200+ tip for 4 people.

Yelp
Irish Inn, Glen Echo is tucked away just behind one end of Glen Echo park. All by itself, it is a quaint, very authentic Irish-style pub and restaurant featuring traditional meals, lunches, beers, mixed drinks and homemade deserts (as an added bonus). It attracts many, many people, from local regulars to business colleagues out for a special celebration. It has been there for quite some time, and is always a good experience. Never had a problem with service the few times I have enjoyed the place. Mostly it's nice to eat on the covered deck which even is wonderful into chilly fall weather thanks to the space heater lamps. Once, I got to eat upstairs in winter which is a cozier, but more homely experience. Food presentation was great, upstairs is tight quarters. There is extensive downstairs seating too--the restaurant takes the entire building. Some of the specialties are meats/ burgers etc,; fish and chips is not to miss! Private parking, and recently valet complementary. Gets busy at peak dinner times around 6:30 I believe. Well known and loved--for good reason. Check out the tastefully-done website. Always a treat, even if not the healthiest health food.
