My favourite bar on this stretch of Mission St. Nice atmosphere, doesn't get too busy

It's a nice long bar with a "living room" type setup at the back, complete with a fireplace! This place has a really great daily happy hour running from 4-9PM and all day Sunday. The bartenders are nice, and it's a lot less crowded than other bars in the same area. Cool dimly lit vibe and very chill atmosphere where people mostly keep to themselves.

Wonderful higher-end cocktail bar. I saddled up here and had a few very well made cocktails served to me by a very friendly bartender. Cocktail list was solid. The bar had a great vibe. I would come back if I was in the 'hood if I wanted a nice cocktail bar experience that isn't too bougie.

Earlier in the other part of the Mission I was happy it was kind of cold out because the people show was tolerable. But over here on the far side after puzzling where to try for supper and deciding on a place that was gracious but we ended up at Blue Plate anyway, over here on the far side while waiting (too long) for before-mentioned cool place we used the device and the delivered guidance of our friends in this electric space to locate the Iron and Gold and go get warm for a little bit and off we went.

Iron and Gold is a really special bar. It's sort of hidden away being south of Cesar Chavez, but still such a great place and good drinks. I've been when it was packed and when it was close to empty, either way, it has a certain vibe I really enjoy. A few times I've been they have had really great DJs spinning really good music (not typical DJ sets). This is a good bar to claim as your neighborhood bar, but it can also be a stop on a crazy night out. I've been once and had a few mediocre drinks, but usually (and more recently) I've had nothing but well-made cocktails from a good, smart bartender. In the cooler months they have a few really good hot drinks (which I'm a bug sucker for) and they always have an interesting selection of cocktails which I assume are unique to Iron & Gold. Another thing I really enjoy about this place is the way they use space. The front of the place, where the actual bar is, is a pretty typical bar: usually busy, mostly standing room only. But past the bathrooms in the back there are some tables and chairs, a couch or two, and it feels more like a loungey lodge-type place. Plus in the cooler months, they light a fire back there and it's nice and toasty.

Finding this gem made our night! Loved the fact that the bar was very relaxed and fun (1 TV screen for the Giants fans!) but not too loud meaning we could actually hear one another. Happy Hour even on Sundays that featured many great selections and ran until 9 PM!

Nice bar with a cozy back room. A person with a larger wheelchair or scooter will have trouble with the narrow front aisle and high tables. Back room has low seating and is a little more roomy.

Great beer selection. Overall good vibe. Nothing distinct to comment on. Service from the bar was sub par on my only visit there. I'll update after a second round.
