The 20 Best Affordable Restaurants in the Inland Empire | Eater LA

"This gorgeous coffee shop from Pomona recently underwent a full renovation that gives it Venice vibes (think Menotti’s, but way out in Claremont). The college town tends to gather professors, young professionals working remote jobs, and students preparing for exams across the shop’s sprawling interior and indoor patio (the building was a former produce packing house). On the menu, expect top-flight espresso and coffee drinks that the company roasts itself, along with creative lattes like the Courageous, mixing Old Forester bourbon syrup (don’t worry, there’s no alcohol), brown sugar, cream, and a sprinkle of pink salt on top for a terrific salty-sweet effect." - Sean Vukan

Google
WOW! Can’t describe in words how much I love this little cute coffee shop. They are uniquely different with their menu consisting of “affirmation lattes.” Each one packs a powerful punch of flavor, as I seem to keep coming back to this shop to try everyone latte. Overall would recommend! ☕️🤍🤎

Google
What a hidden (literally in the back of the building) gem of a coffee shop! Coffee was amazing! I had Worthy latte (minus black pepper as I personally don’t like anything with any hint of spice) and a pistachio croissant that was delicious! There was a bit of a line but well worth the wait!!! The gentleman at the counter was super personable with every single customer. Will definitely be back!!!

Google
Iron and Kin is the best coffee shop ever bar none! I can't brag about this place enough. The inside of the coffee shop is very neutral, aesthetic, and modern with some earthy vibes. The music selection there is always on point! The baristas that work there are some of my favorite people ever. I genuinely look forward to coming here for the great coffee but for the overall experience and interaction with the staff here. I read some comments regarding the long line/wait time but I truly think the wait is worth it. The coffee is consistently good and the interaction with the staff is always pleasant. They provide a service that other coffee shops and businesses lack. Our go to drinks are the courageous and worthy lattes! If I could give this place 1000000000000 stars I would!

Google
This coffee shop is inside the Claremont Packing House. I came here with a coworker for a meeting and was surprised on how busy it was. We ordered a dirty chai and a matcha latte, along with a croissant and an almond croissant to share. Everything was absolutely delicious! The space is clean, well maintained, and has a great vibe with vinyl music playing in the background. Just a heads up it gets really busy, so I’d recommend coming early if you want a good seat and don’t want to wait in line for 30 minutes just for coffee.

Google
Iron & Kin is such a beautiful and cozy environment. It's always busy but that's because of the quality of it's product and staff. I've never seen such a bustling spot where the staff make each person feel paid attention to while they're getting taken care of. I'm obsessed with their lattes and their matchas. Absolutely phenomenal spot.

Marga J

Google
Been here 3 times already and each time, there’s a veeeery long line. I’m not exaggerating. Like a 30 min wait on an average. But I’ve got a lot of time to spare so I don’t really care. Lol. Their pour over is so good. The matcha is superior. Their croissants are top tier. The atmosphere is cozy even when there’s a lot of people. Maybe because of the wooden floor and high ceiling. I always hang out here with my baby and my dog while waiting for my husband to finish his 1 hour meeting in the area. The baristas are very accommodating. One time, something went wrong with their machine, they gave me a gift card because I had to wait.

Dennis Phan

Google
Nice coffee shop but the line is always crazy! Especially on a Friday afternoon. I got the strawberry matcha and it was good— your run of the mill matcha latte with strawberry syrup at the bottom.

Dion Basabas

Google
Iron and Kin is hands down one of the best coffee spots around. The drinks are solid, and the pastries, they are amazing. The vibe inside is super chill.....perfect for just hanging out or getting a little work done. That said, yeah... the lines can get pretty long, especially on the weekends. A lot of people have mentioned it, and they’re not wrong. But honestly, I think it’s worth the wait. Good coffee, good food, good atmosphere, it’s got the whole package.

Yelp
I fear the 30-50 minute line is worth it... Iron and Kin is definitely the best coffee and matcha in the Claremont area. They have the best vanilla latte I've ever had and a very good matcha for a coffee shop (mizuba). The workers are incredible - so friendly and kind and they give great suggestions. The drink selection is super unique and everything I've tried has been done well! 100% recommend if you have time to wait.

Yelp
Located inside the old packing house. Prepare for a longer wait... there was a line out the door when we arrived on a Thursday around 1pm. It took about 30 minutes to order. They make your drink in front of you and hand it to you as you pay so that's why the line moved a bit slower. Service was great. The baristas were friendly. The menu consists of specialty coffee and affirmation lattes. I ordered "Graceful" which was a lavender matcha. It was good but I felt like the lavender was overpowering the matcha. My fiancé ordered "Worthy" which had a blend of brown sugar, vanilla, and black pepper. He was skeptical of the black pepper at first but it wasn't too strong so he ended up enjoying it. I'll probably try their coffee instead next time I go.
google avatar

Betty J.

Yelp
Super long line on a saturday morning. Took like maybe 20 mins? Place was cute, service was fast & nice. I just don't like the matcha at all :( The drink tasted mostly like oat milk with a tiny sprinkle of matcha.
google avatar

Angela Marie M.

Yelp
Amazing! Went here on Sunday at noon and the line was out the door! The wait was not bad because they give you your drink as soon as you order. I got the Worthy latte and it was delicious. What makes this place unique is the aesthetic and the good service. I will be back to try more!
google avatar

Timothy L.

Yelp
Came here after a hike and it was worth the 30 minute wait in line. Ordered their Kind Hearted Affirmation Latte and it was really good with a spice kick to it. The interior was pretty nice and there are seatings available, but it does get busy. I would come back here.
google avatar

Julia S.

Yelp
They're currently renovating but have a couple of tables in the center corridor to sit and work. Unfortunately that also means no AC The coffee was good, didn't taste acidic or burnt. Service was super friendly!
google avatar

Jamie L.

Yelp
I'm definitely not a stranger to this coffee spot. I usually get their latte with oat milk or matcha latte with oat milk - both delicious! Today, I decided to try a hot courageous latte. The drink was rich, smooth, and has a light aftertaste of a flavor similar to caramel candy. Service is always great - line was pretty long for a weekday but it goes by fairly quickly. Of note, they are currently undergoing construction so they have a booth in front of their shop with tables in the hallway of the packing house.
google avatar

Yelp
Consistency in quality on a very rare level. Coffee is measured on a scales for the optimal amount each time and each cup is masterfully prepared. The service is equally superb and the staff is friendly and makes efforts to remember clients names and drinks. There will most likely be a wait but if quality is what you are after, enjoy the most amazing delivery of Guatemalan or Ethiopian beans your taste buds ever had!

Yelp
Located inside the Claremont Meat Packing District building, where the prior ice cream place was located. Lots of open seating inside and just outside the shop. Free WiFi and bathroom access (using a code). Nice coffee options and a few unsweetened tea flavors. I tried the "Courageous" latte which was robust and flavorful, ordered at half sweet, which was perfect. Solid spot
google avatar

Yelp
Let me start off by saying, best cold brew I've had all year!!! First time in Claremont and let me tell you, it's a cute town with bomb coffee. Decor-cool spot, in some kind off all packing district, gives Chelsea NYC vibes. Old hardwood floors, and lots of seating areas. Service-above average!! Very nice and engaged baristas, pouring out some great coffee. Drinks-5/5 stars. Cold brew was smooth and had a great fruity notes. The matcha my wife had was her fav in a long time and the artwork was fantastic. The only negative I have to say, it needs a good cleaning inside. I get it, they're super busy, but just a thought.
google avatar

Sabina S.

Yelp
Literally the best coffee I've ever had. The affirmation lattes have amazing flavor profiles and I could drink gallons of the Peaceful one. The space is amazing for studying and getting work done; spacious with modern and calm vibe. Service is amazing and baristas are very sweet and work fast. This is your new study/work spot

Yelp
Located in a cool old building with lots of character. I found iron and kin.. I got two lattes. The courages and the worthy. Courageous was excellent. House made syrup. Very balanced. Unique flavors. Loved everything about it. Why the 2 stars when this shop could easily be one of the best coffee shops in town? My worthy. It was being made. First they add the milk. Then the syrups and pepper etc . It was a bit short which is ok. She added more milk.. as she was busy. She didn't realize she over filled my drink. When the milk was dumped. There also goes my espresso. The drink just went way off.. too light espresso flavor. Not enough syrups. It just didn't work. A new drink should have been made. No excuses for dropping the ball on this one

Yelp
I thought there were coffee was just OK. This place was highly recommended to me by a local . There seems to be always a long line at Iron and Kin... I waited for about 15 minutes and was served my coffee. I thought it was OK to pretty good, but honestly nothing that special for me to wait for a long while in order to get my coffee. The staff here are all very friendly and efficient. The environment is welcoming, very simple, but plenty of room for relaxing, or work desk the work from home crowd. Yelp
Insanely good nitro cold brew and peaceful latte. Also tried the super seed cookie and kouign amann-- both super yummy. Such a reward after hiking early in the morning during family weekend at the Claremont Colleges. Great service too.

Yelp
I like the coffee from Iron & Kin. They also recently finished remodeling their space and have opened up their indoor seating again. This coffee shop has an affirmation lattes menu, which is a cute concept for those who are indecisive and can't decide on a drink. Just pick one depending on what affirmation you need! They also have a seasonal menu. There always seems to be a line at Iron & Kin, so you should definitely plan ahead in case you need to rush to work/school. The baristas are always friendly and try to make small talk with the customers as they wait. My go-to order has been a standard latte or the Courageous latte.
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
I stopped coming here due to the wait. The line is just way too ridiculous. It doesn't matter if it's right when they open or halfway through the day. I was a faithful customer since the day they opened, but I can no longer justify spending nearly an hour in line every time I come here. Thank you for the good times and coffee I&K. It was amazing while it lasted.
google avatar

Nour H.

Yelp
This was my first time trying the courageous latte it was a bit spicy like the barista said hence the ingredients, but it was really good I still would prefer the worthy latte if you want more of a vanilla flavor and a bit more sweetness. The barista's here are really nice and it's a good place to get some work done!

Yelp
Iron & Kin is located in the inner section of the Packing House. Claremont was our old stomping grounds and so a friend had recommended Iron & Kin. We were not disappointed in the slightest. We went in and loved the modern, minimalist, and chic decor. We loved the branding of their coffee bean and settled for the St. Gordon's Blend, which was a mix of Colombian and Brazilian coffee. We were greeted warmly by the barista, who immediately engaged us in conversation - she was very personable and asked some follow up questions while she made our coffee. And her latte art was totally on point. The iced honey latte with whole milk was on par with the best one we've had at Wilderlove Coffee in Houston TX. And I went for the Affirmation Worthy Latte and the combination of black pepper, brown sugar, figs, and vanilla was so full bodied and robust. It definitely hit the spot. We will go out of our way just to get this coffee. Excellent choice in case you're looking to study, relax, or pick up and go. Plenty of seating that spills out in the hallway.

Yelp
Iron & Kin seriously has the best chai latte that I have ever had in my life.. also this place has such nice ambiance in my opinion.

Yelp
Can't even put into words how much I love this place. Everything is incredibly high quality here, from the ingredients to the people. I started going two years ago, and the addiction has reached points of going back to back every day (sometimes multiple times a day). Anyways, service is incredible, all the staff strike up conversations, are outgoing and nice, and clearly love their jobs. The long line is always 100% worth it. Courageous and the worthy are my favorites, but the seasonal drinks are always incredible and usually my go-to's. Teas are amazing, not one I don't like. Matcha is very high quality and yummy.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered an espresso tonic and a decaf black coffee for my dad. Service was friendly and the two baristas had good chemistry as well with their customers. This also showed us the espresso tonic, no frills or decor, just simple, but the sourness of the spoiled through which was really nice
google avatar

Yelp
My friend recommended this cool coffee shop in her neighborhood. I had their Nitro Cold Brew. It was really good! My friend had the Worthy Latté which had some brown sugar and Madagascar Vanilla. I think next time I go here, I will try one of their lattés! Great customer service too.

Yelp
After visiting the Claremont Forum Bookshop and was on my way out of the 1st floor in Claremont Packing House, I took notice of Iron + Kin Coffee. It's very spacious inside with lots of seating plus limited seating outside of its store front. Great place to chill and hang out with family and friends sipping a hot or cold coffee/tea and talking about something funny I hope LOL. They also serve a few food items. As I was walking in, the friendly lady near the door said they were closed. I was in need of something warm for my hoarse throat. I asked if I can just get a hot tea. She was graciously kind to say yes. Thank you so much miss! I got my hot tea and also a VYBES Strawberry Lavender flavor for mind + body function (thought it was interesting to try... got some hemp stuff in it). The hot tea hit the spot. I later tried the VYBES drink and it was okay... has a refreshing and calming taste to it... not sure if it did anything or not... with these specialty drinks, it normally takes a few rounds to see and/or feel the effect. It was a very quick visit since they were closing. I'll have to return to try their lattes since they specialize in coffee and stay a bit longer next time. Come on out and check out Iron & Kin and enjoy the good vibes if you haven't already!
google avatar

Jaqueline R.

Yelp
Love this coffee shop, amazing quality and 10/10 service, 10/10 vibes the only thing is that the line gets long so be prepared to wait.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by on Monday, 02/19/24 for the first time. Ordered the following and took it to-go: - 1 Graceful Latte (seasonal) with oatmilk = $6.50 / comes with lavender, ube, vanilla, and mizuba matcha - 1 Worthy Affirmation Latte = $6.25 / comes with brown sugar, vanilla, figs, and black pepper TOTAL = $12.75 INTERIOR DESIGN is literally everything you could've asked for! There were several people sipping coffee and typing away on their laptops (I'm assuming they were all Claremont College students). Additionally, line was super long but goes by quick. I HIGHLY recommend this place and would like to come back and try everything else they offer! I am a huge coffee/matcha fanatic and this place is truly the best!
google avatar

daryl d.

Yelp
The chill, minimal decor is nice. Music is good (but maybe slightly too loud) ordering I had to raise my voice more than I should have to. The baristas were amazing! On it and got the drinks perfectly. The lattes and pastries were delicious. We will be back.
google avatar

kat b.

Yelp
Very efficient for only have 3 baristas working at the time. With all the ingredients listed I was expecting a much more prominent flavor profile from the worthy latter but is just a nice balanced, sweet, creamy latte.
google avatar

Lindsey H.

Yelp
Love their coffee. My favorite in Claremont, but they do take a long time. Lots of chatting with the customers. Which is fine, but most of us are trying to get to work and have limited time. I wish they went quicker or had an online ordering option. The line takes forever ! If you're in a hurry this is not the place to come. Otherwise, great coffee.
google avatar

Yelp
Affirmation Lattes :) I bookmarked this place because I liked the way they named their lattes. I got their seasonal latte, gratitude (hot). It was made with pumpkin spice. It tasted ok. I think it was a bit watery. Flavor was lacking as well. I probably should have it made breve with extra toppings. The second drink I ordered was Courageous. I can't comment on it since I didn't get to try it lol However, I really like how it looked. I wanted to snatch the cup just to try it lol The individual who drank it enjoyed it a lot. He said it was soo good. We also got a matcha latte breve on ice with vanilla syrup instead of simple syrup. They ran out of it. Barista was really nice. He didn't charge us for it. The individual with this drank said she got sick of it lol probably would have tasted better with simple syrup. Overall, I like this place. The service was friendly. Not sure if it's due to the Christmas season, but it felt nice chilling here with the Christmas lights and all. Needed a code to use the rr inside the Packing building. Can use the rr at the parking structure without code. Smelly tho...

Yelp
4-4.5 stars I had not visited the Claremont Packing House for a few years now, and there has been a few changes here and there. Last time I was here, Augie's Coffee Roasters was here, sharing a location with a nitrogen ice cream shop. I was in the area and wanted to grab a cup of coffee, once I Yelped and Googled, I noticed that Iron & Kin Coffee Co had replaced Augie's. With the numerous high reviews, I knew I had to visit. The line for Iron & Kin certainly surprised me, and it made sense as one orders, pays, and usually the drink is ready by the time one finishes checking out. Espresso Tonic $5.75 Morning Bun $6 The menu is very simple, and since most coffee joints I have visited this summer offer Espresso Tonic, I opted for an Espresso Tonic (light ice), with a touch of honey. Since I was torn between the hot Honey latte and an Espresso Tonic, the barista mentioned he could include some honey in my Espresso Tonic. Since I tend to sip Espresso Tonics slowly, as the person working the cashier also agreed that they do the same, light ice was perfect - as to not water down my drink too much. The drink was perfect, not bitter in any way, very smooth. The Morning Bun drew me in as well, as I do not tend to order pastries at times, but it surely did not disappoint. The barista offered to warm it up for me, but since I was not going to be eating it right away, I declined. I ended up warming it up at home, later in the afternoon, and it was delicious. No wonder there was only on more left, and the barista agreed that it was a great choice! The sugar may steer one away but the flakiness and the crispiness of the croissant was perfect! By the time I left Iron & Kin, the line was even longer! Almost reaching the wine store... There are many other drinks I want to try, so hopefully I'll get a chance to stop by again. Great customer service, even despite how busy they are, and clean. All were always restocked: straws, napkins, cup stoppers, and etc. The interior was about similar to when it was Augie's Coffee Roasters beforehand, high ceilings and natural light. It was a bit warm on the inside of the Packing House, but it is the summer. There was a table in the center of the coffee shop, and a few tables and chairs on the sides. Many were also seated outside where there were many tables and chairs.

Yelp
A recent discovery. We were a bit reticent about trying their specialty coffee drinks but I'm glad we did. The Kind Hearted Latte is definitely the one to try. It has a nice kick! It isn't too spicy at all, just enough to wake up your taste buds. They have the usual offerings too like a mocha, regular latte, etc and they are good too as are their pastries and oatmeal. A place worthy of revisiting over and over.
google avatar

Karen C.

Yelp
Everytime I come the line is long, so keep that in mind if you are in a time crunch. I ordered a iced vanilla matcha latte, Matcha is usually my go too. My sister tried a seasonal drink that was called "Gratitude" I believe? We both would rate it a 7.5/10. However, there was great service, good music, and a nice place to study at. There's also a cute bookstore next door too!

Daniel G.

Yelp
Some of the best drip coffee, pastries, and creative lattes I've ever had. Even in the middle of a busy Saturday afternoon, Zay and Jacob were incredibly friendly and locked in on serving the customer in front of them. Also excellent music and space. 10 out of 10 experience.
google avatar

Jaedyn M.

Yelp
Amazing experience! Such delicious drinks! The service was so friendly! The inside wasn't remolded yet but we are excited to come back and try it when it is!
google avatar

Leo S.

Yelp
Good coffee. Very busy that means it's worth. The service was excellent. Limited tables to relax and enjoy your beverage.
google avatar

Shobi S.

Yelp
The drinks were so good the staff were friendly but the wait was horrible... soooo not sure if I want to keep going?
google avatar

Thiago D.

Yelp
First word that came to mind when visiting this coffeeshop was Brooklyn lol filled with hipsters and students I wondered if I made the right choice stepping in here but I was not disappointed. I was going to go with a basic espresso but saw what they call "Affirmation" lattes do decided to go with that instead. We ordered the hot Courageous and iced Worthy lattes and these were really special lattes. It tasted like no other lattes I tasted before. The worthy had notes of vanilla and figs and brown sugar, but wasn't overly sweet. The Courageous had notes of bourbon, brown sugar, and yes, salt! I thought the salt was going to be too much but it ended up being my favorite touch on this latte. The batistas were friendly and chatted us up a bit while knocking out our order. This line was pretty long inside but they did an amazing job getting out order out quickly.
google avatar

Stefanie A.

Yelp
wait was long, seems to be a decent amount of seating but lots of students were already there by 930am

Sara W.

Yelp
Our favorite coffee shop in town! Delicious! Often times very busy but worth the wait. Ambiance is cute and staff is always friendly. Worthy iced with cinnamon is delish!

bianca b.

Yelp
I absolutely cannot recommend this place enough. Although the menu is limited it is very easy to customize any drink. I got the Graceful Latte which is an Iced Lavender, Ube, Matcha with oatmilk and sweet foam. It was sooo good I basically chugged the drink. The service itself was okay, I only saw two people working and they would talk to customers for forever but it was nice . I would definitely wait in line again. The cafe was so cute and aesthetic.
google avatar

Morgan P.

Yelp
I love this place ! I highly recommend coming here. The drinks and the pastries are elite . The baristas are extremely welcoming and very knowledgeable .
google avatar

Lyndsey E.

Yelp
Was expecting Iron & Kin to be good when there was a line out the door on a Saturday morning. After a lengthy wait we weren't disappointed by the coffee and caramelized croissant we tried! Simple spot with a modern vibe, serving up tasty drinks. Would recommend checking this spot out.
google avatar

Jenina M.

Yelp
Great coffee and tea located at the Packing House in Claremont. The baristas were friendly and attempted to chat with each customer. They were helpful in offering which drinks tasted better iced or warm. The ambiance was cool and would be a great place to study or work. The coffee was the perfect balance of creamy, smooth, sweet and bitter. The ube lavender matcha was a seasonal drink and was a 10 out of 10!
google avatar

Zara A.

Yelp
As an avid coffee shop goer this is one of my FAVORITES (which says a lot from an addict). I have never had a latte like the KIND HEARTED before. The balance of spice from the chiles and cinnamon with a pinch of salt was absolute perfection. It truly warmed my heart and soul. All the ratios were in balance the flavors felt harmonious despite how odd the combination first seemed. With the creaminess of the OAT MILK it was the perfect consistency and taste. The WORTHY was also great just not as unique. The service was immediate as I ordered and felt like an experience no other coffee shop has done before. It will take a minute to get the coffee if there is a line, but worth it! If you are able to find seating it is great to study but definitely busy!
google avatar

Bridget M.

Yelp
This place has the vibes and adorable baristas. I forgot their name but the person who made my drink was super friendly and had such a chill attitude. He made my drink really quick complete with the latte art. My husband and I both ordered and sat outside the cafe so we could read. They did have some music playing inside the cafe that was kind of loud but I could understand it was just part of the atmosphere. We didn't mind sitting outside as they offer lots of little tables to sit at. I would go back more often if I lived closer!
google avatar

Kira B.

Yelp
One of my local faves! It such a cute space with lots of plants and seating. However it can get crowded but there is extra seating in the actual packing house. I usually get matcha or a latte and it's always really good ! I've had a few of their pastries which are yummy as well. Never had a problem with the employees they're always really friendly and welcoming !
google avatar

Ayham D.

Yelp
On this rainy day I wanted a hot latte that hit the spot and Iron & Kin delivered. I had the Worthy latte (vanilla, figs, brown sugar and black pepper) with almond milk. Flavors were on point. This drink lives up to the name: worthy, of a 5 star review.
google avatar

Evgenii K.

Yelp
Latte 10 out of 10. The grains used are good, milk and temperature in moderation. The girls are great, nice and positive. Big queue, but it's understandable - delicious! I will definitely come again
google avatar

Yelp
I just visited Iron and Kin, and I have to say it's one of the best espresso shots I've had in a long time. I tried their Ethiopian single origin espresso, and Liz pulled it perfectly. Haley provided excellent customer service, and the ambiance was fantastic. Liz was a great guide for me to choose my latte. I'm trying the Courageous, which I believe is a caramel bourbon latte. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it will be just as excellent. Definitely give this place a try!
