The Twin Cities’ Best Sports Bars to Watch the Vikings and the College Football Playoff

We stopped in for some darts and a couple beers and we walked away pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is solid, the staff was friendly and attentive and there are plenty of space and TV’s if you’re there for a game. The food was average bar food, but to be fair, we only ordered average bar food. We saw other plates coming out that looked like they’d be good lunch options. Don’t hesitate to sip by if you’re looking for a good spot to hang out for a few drinks with friends.

Google
This has become my go-to spot since I moved here a month ago. Tried just about everything on the menu and the food never disappoints. Perfect place for game days! Lots of TVs and they got pretty much every game playing. Love going to their brunch on Sunday's with their happy hour build-your-own Blood Mary bar that ends at 2pm. Other great deals with drinks/beer on game days or happy hour. Staff is always helpful, quick, friendly and fast service getting your food out. Great atmosphere and definitely my favorite place in uptown.

Google
This is one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. Great service & everything we ate was delicious. The Royal with Cheese is so good.

Google
We always have wondeful experiences here!! Our server Jessica was very attentive, fun, personable, and knowledgeable. All the staff we interacted with here were very kind and attentive.❤️ We ordered the Goat cheese dip as an appetizer and it was beyond delicious, would recommend for a brunch or started to a light meal as it was very filling and exquisite. Their burgers are to die for and never disappoint. The pride cocktails were also delicious and fun! As an overall the atmosphere here is very exciting yet safe and will be what you make it whether you want to party or cozy up for a lovely meal.

Google
Decor is charming, plenty of seating, good menu offerings and good food. Service staff are super pleasant. My server specifically, Lee, was chill, attentive, friendly, and made my first time here enjoyable. I’d recommend this place to someone getting a few beers after work or who wants somewhere a little quieter than somewhere like Up-Down. I couldn’t say a negative thing about this place if I wanted to. This place even has THC beverages!

Google
Delicious food with generous portions and decent prices. Best thing about this place is it stays open till 2 am. I tried the cordon bleu smashed chicken burger with ham, pickles (kosher), cheese, and brioche bun. It was absolutely delicious! The smoked ham in particular elevated the burger to the next level. On the side I got a salad with blue cheese. They certainly don't skimp on ingredients in this place. Friendly staff and quick service mean I will absolutely be coming back.

Google
Great experience! Came here for the first time yesterday and I had an amazing experience. Came here on a Saturday night and it wasn’t very crowded! We got to choose our seating and the waiter was very prompt in serving us. We received our food relatively quick and it was hot and delicious. I ordered the lemon pepper wings which were delicious as well as the tater-nacho eh I was also really good! No complaints. Reasonable priced, I would definitely return.

Google
Great atmosphere for sports. Attentive bartenders and servers. Lots of TVs. The food is legit and the chicken nuggets are more like chicken strips and are amazing. Rotating taps that have a local lean.

Yelp
Delicious burger, tasty brews. Incredible service. Great vibes. Fun music. Friendly staff.

Yelp
Divey sports bar on eat street. Went here on a Saturday evening around 9 or so to grab a bite with some friends (4). You sit yourself and then the staff comes around to inquire about drinks and food. The food menu is pretty limited; it's definitely a bar lol. Beer is a good selection. The Royal burger was good as were the onion rings. Very hearty and hit the spot. Everything came out nice and hot. I knocked down a star because we had some issues with the service. It felt kinda slow and we had to send the food back since they brought out the wrong item and then had to inquire about a carry out order at the end. Also they didn't follow up after they brought our food and asked if we needed anything like ketchup - condiments at the table but our bottle was empty.

Yelp
Came here for some drinks and food with about 10 people. Drinks were great. I got the Princess Peach and it was absolutely delicious!! The food was good, but a little expensive, about 15 dollars for a burger. I liked the vibe of the restaurant though and our waitress was very good and funny. I didn't catch her name, but she was great!

Yelp
Some of my favorite wings in the Twin Cities. Everything on their menu is great as well. Cool vibes. Great staff. Always have a great time at Iron Door.

Yelp
I had the most wonderful Reuben potentially the best Reuben in Minneapolis. Incredible amount of meat and great bread. I am so excited to eat another here soon.

Heidi A.

Yelp
The food was meh. The atmosphere was good for watching sports and the set up was nice for it as well. The trivia was pretty fun. Probably not going to go again unless for something specific.

Yelp
Iron Door Pub is a casual, unpretentious bar with lots of seating, pinball machines and TVs playing sports. They have a decent beer selection ranging from mainstream to more than a few local beers (though no sour beers, sadly). They also have the Impossible burger ($11) which you can fix up any way you'd like. I appreciate that they also have vegan cheese, but it's Daiya brand, which is my least favorite. The burger was fine, but nothing special. I like that they offer tater tots, too. The service is fast and friendly. If you sit outside, be warned that this is one of the loudest intersections in Minneapolis, with an endless number of motorcycles and hot-rod cars tearing up the street.

Yelp
I do not write reviews. so the fact I'm here should say a lot. I've been here multiple times, and I have NEVER received good service. always looking for a server for a drink or bill. rarely served hot food, dealing with servers random attitude for whatever reason, and tonight I sat for an hour patiently, no complaints, waiting patiently. and I waited an hour for my to-go food. The odd thing is the more patient you are, the more your time and patient will be wasted. I very much like their food, but it's a shame I have to mentally prepare for poor service just because I want to enjoy my neighborhood bar.
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
We came in the middle of the day. The humid midwest heat was brutal. We stopped in to enjoy the AC and get a crisp brew. We got so much more. Beer selection is comfortably above average. Ambiance is sparkly clean! Service is Minnesota nice, very nice!

Yelp
I want to like it here. I really really do. But I just can't. The food is amazing. The bartenders are trash. They are impersonal and rude. Our friend came from 2.5 hours away and we wanted to take him to the pub because we thought he'd like it. We ordered three different shots (for the three different people there) and immediately the bartender copped an attitude. We even offered to order three of the same kind. And he made a fuss and started making the three different ones. He made two of our drinks then had the other bartender on staff make the last one. He never looked our way again. The female bartender was also rude when she took over for us. She didn't come back and as us how we were doing until we flagged her down. Mind you, there were about 5 people besides us at the bar. So not overly busy. Once we got her attention, we ordered three of the SAME shot. Before even starting our order she took three other orders and made three other drinks. Then returned to ask us what we even wanted. 15 minutes later we had three of the most watered down shots ever. Then another 15 minutes to get our check and cash out. It was an awful experience. This was not even the first time in this establishment. The first two times were just as awful. They have amazing nachos and some good servers but not enough to make up for the horrible bartenders usually behind the bar. I will keep returning because I do enjoy the atmosphere and their food. If you are looking for good service, I recommend fire and nice on Lyndale

Yelp
Happy hour reviews continue: Mon-Fri 3-6pm, $1 off appetizers and alcoholic drinks. Mini corn dogs are always great, but nothing that blew me out of the water. The chicken wings were delicious, moist, and oh so spicy. The only thing that helps the heat is knocking back a couple of brews. (Good thing happy hour means no regrets) Cool server who knew not to bother us when there were tears streaming down our face, only stopping in to grab us more beers. Great team effort.

Yelp
I Frequent here, and walked out today. Some very good staff, but some very bad staff. It seems to be trending more towards the negative each time I visit. I've seen better talent and ambition from fast food workers. Lately, Bar staff seems rude, lazy, and ungrateful. they are NOT pros, can't handle a "busy" bar. They act too cool, and only care about their loud alcoholic patron buddies and fellow dumpster fire co workers. Y'all are not very good, in fact you're awful and lucky to be there. Don't like it? take your attitude to Applebee's and sling maragritas. But they would have probably fired you by now. If Iron doors food wasn't good this place would probably go under. Which I hope is not the case. Cheers to the very talented kitchen staff and the few that that are keeping that place going. And the owner/mgr for outstanding service. If you're lucky to get him.

Yelp
Great food and drink options including THC Seltzers. Sooo yummy! I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Great service. Good food. Best place in uptown to sit and watch sports. Split audio in front and back room so Trivia on Tuesdays doesn't interrupt sport.

Yelp
This is my second time here and the first time was fine which is why we came back. We ordered the Brussel sprouts and they were good with the interesting ingredient combination. Our second time here, we had the gyro pizza and it was good. I accidentally hit my vape inside and immediately apologized to the bartender. The bartender, Joseph, said to me "that's absolutely not okay. You have to go outside with the other garbage smokers" wow. I never ever have received such a disrespectful rude comment especially from someone of customer service. There were so many different things that could have been said and I absolutely owned my mistake and apologized. We were gonna be regulars here but now we never want to come back again.

Yelp
Stopped in to the Iron Door Pub to watch college football on a Thursday evening. I was visiting Minneapolis from out-of-town - and wanted to watch the Virginia Tech vs. Georgia Tech game - and wanted to watch it some place outside of my hotel room. Searching online, I found that the Iron Door Pub had TV's and showed football games. So down I went - with my Virginia Tech polo on. I walked in and almost sat in the front area, but then saw there were more open tables in the back. So I grabbed a table and started to sit down. I look over and see a bunch of tables pushed together with about 20 people - all wearing Virginia Tech gear - eating, drinking, and watching the game. An older gentleman immediately came over and insisted I sit with them and started to drag my table over to dovetail with the end of their tables. I was immediately welcomed and introduced to long-lost Virginia Tech brethren. I then noted they had a large banner - the "Minnesota Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association!" I ordered some Chili and a pint of an IPA. The Chili was rather average but the Ale was good. Watching with a group was fun, but due to the noise of the place - you really can't hear the audio of the game. Problem is - there are TV's throughout the place showing NFL, hockey, etc. So lots of competing games. Service was a bit on the slow side - but the place was packed on a Thursday night! #IronDoorPub

Yelp
I used to love coming here, then they got rid of the cauliflower fritters. It was a really good option for non-meat eaters (like me) and they were probably the best I've ever had. I unfortunately will not be returning unless they put it back on the menu.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good burger LOOK NO FURTHER! I had to leave my car in the Iron Door Pub's parking lot one night so I figured the least I could do was have lunch there when I came to pick it up. It might be one of the best decisions I've ever made. To be determined. I ordered a burger and not only was it giant and extremely aesthetically pleasing but it also tasted UH-MAZ-ING. I apologize for the overuse of capital letters but it's really that good. If you're wondering why I gave it four stars rather than five it's because I also had their donut hole dessert and it was sort of terrible in my opinion. I don't have a major sweet tooth so I didn't really mind that and it won't deter me but I can't guarantee the quality of the food other than the burgers. I still plan on coming back from those. The service here was awesome. The server was really cool and relatable which I appreciate because servers who fake their personality annoy me. The restaurant itself has a cool vibe and I would come here to sit at the bar and have a couple drinks as well. One thing I also love are the giant windows. It's the perfect spot to grab lunch and people watch because it's on a busy street in Lynlake. Overall I think if you haven't been here yet you should be experiencing some serious FOMO.
google avatar

Katie U.

Yelp
Great bar in the lynlake neighborhood with plenty of good beer options. Very close to several other bars and restaurants so it's a good place to stop in when you're out and about. We came here on a Saturday night to watch some sporting events on tv because they have a number of TVs all around the bar. It was decently crowded but we were still able to get a table for 4 pretty easily. They beer list is quite extensive and is mostly focused on local Minnesota beers. For food we had a few appetizers, the wings and curds, then mostly everyone ordered burgers. They have a couple of really good sandwiches on the menu too. Would recommend this place if you're looking for a sports bar type of atmosphere in this neighborhood.
google avatar

Abby O.

Yelp
We came here to watch the Vikings game. Place was just the right amount of full. Great atmosphere for game watching. Lots of TVs so you'll have a view from wherever you sit. Wide variety of beer selections as well. I ordered the cheese curd and they were delicious. Would highly recommend getting a side of ranch. It tastes homemade. One of my friends got something called a "toad in a hole" which was toast an egg and chorizo gravy. Absolutely delicious!

michael m.

Yelp
Certainly one of the best pubs in the cities. A great chill atmosphere. Always good, friendly service. Decent-sized menu and the food is well above average. Great beer selection, taps and cans. Respectable selection of THC seltzers as well. For all the staff and owners went through to keep this place alive after the pandemic, protests and vandalism, these guys deserve some thanks and some loyalty. Check it out.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
This place has some of the best bar food in town. I work across the street so I order take-out here often, and the food is always on point! Shout out to the back of house staff for preparing delicious hot food consistently! And bartender Sully is great
google avatar

Caleb M.

Yelp
Love coming to Iron Door after work or late at night after going out. It's a down-to-earth, everyone's welcome bar with solid bar food and a good beer selection. It's a great place to chill with a beer and watch some sportsball (it's not my thing, but it's never that loud), hang with some friend, or enjoy a drink and a book.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
We just came here for happy hour, and let me tell you they gave us some GENEROUS wine pours. Thank you, bartender! (He clearly could tell we needed it.) We ordered the hummus platter to soak up a little bit of the wine (I'm glad I didn't have to drive home afterwards) but after looking at the menu I definitely want to come back to eat sometime!

Yelp
Iron Door is a reliably decent neighborhood bar that has remained consistently fun in spite of encroaching gentrification. It's loud in there on game nights, but not too loud. Decent enough beer list and food selections. There's games here too. Mixed feelings about the food at Iron Door. The portions are a bit over the top -- especially the too tall hamburgers. If you are into really big food, you might like it. It's not my thing. Note also that the food menu has outdated information about gluten-free. You can eat gluten-free here if you are careful, but there's not a separate menu for it. Cocktails here are also a mixed bag. The bar staff will make you whatever kind of drink you want, but they don't always have their specialty cocktail ingredients in stock. Single shot pours of liquor are generous, but a bit expensive. As with the food, you get what you pay for, and then some. (If you ask the bar staff to make you a cocktail involving two kinds of alcohol, you could end up paying $15+ for your drink, so be careful ordering off menu.) Iron Door is a good place to watch the Vikings if you arrive early enough. Plenty of tables, and you can see the TV's from all angles. Just watch out for cheeseheads -- they seem to be everywhere nowadays.

Yelp
Buddy and I were doing a little brain storming about his business and decided to meet for drinks at this awesome location. Pretty fantastic service and a great product. I wish I had more to critique other than prices and the volume of the stereo... that all said, it was a great experience. They have a drink on special called the Diablo. I recommend that guy. Spicy tequila and goodness. They also have a Rum Ting, this one, I could pass on. The Reuben was massive and delicious. I agree with my friend, it's probably one of the best in the city. It's full of chunks of corned beef rather than just slices. Wonderful flavor and clearly an investment for the ingredients. Worth the price which in comparison around town, this place runs a little more on the high side. Worth the price and the weird parking. Other than that, a job well done
google avatar

Jeff K.

Yelp
I love the iron door. The food is always on point, try the honey sriracha wings or pork tacos! They have a nice rotation of beer selections, but also have your classic minnesota beers surly furious and summit epa. The staff is great. Come in any night and you can get a different conversation going with any of the eclectic bartenders.
google avatar

Apollo M.

Yelp
Great food, good prices, good atmosphere and friendly service. Impossible Burger is amazing. The tots rule! Thank you Iron Door!
google avatar

Kristina T.

Yelp
This place was practically empty on a Saturday night during dinner hour- unfortunately I was one of the latecomers to our group dinner otherwise I would have suggested that we go elsewhere based on this omen. Chips and queso came to be ~$9 and was not only bland but it wasn't remotely close to being a good value. Not nearly enough chips for all of the queso. The bacon and egg burger with fries ($14)was a ridiculous amount of mediocre food. The twin cities has so many great burgers at the same price point that offer higher quality for an actual reasonable portion of food. Final thoughts- come here if you just want a lot of TVs and huge portions.
google avatar

Ellen C.

Yelp
Great bar, lots of TVs, so if you're looking to watch a game or two, this is a great choice. Being relatively new to the area, I can't say that it looks that different from any of the other sports bars in the neighborhood, but it's got a cool looking sign! The service is really great here - the people are friendly, attentive, on top of things. The food is okay and once you add in drinks, it can get a little on the pricier side than I was expecting for a pub. We got the mac n' cheese and the chicken nuggets. They weren't anything beyond what was expected, good for a quick bite though and a good place to hang out or meet with friends. Spacious, plenty of tables, easy to find, parking isn't bad either.
google avatar

Peyton S.

Yelp
I have been here like 4 or 5 times. The service is normally good, beer selection is nice, servers typically cute. But the reason for this review is their steak and eggs! Go for brunch and order the steak and eggs and it will start your day off right. It is maybe one of the best steak dishes in the cities and only costs like $12 or something insane. The server also charged my phone at a clutch time, which is always bonus points
google avatar

Emily R.

Yelp
The wild were playing, and I needed to watch the game. One of my friend was hungry so we decided on stopping in at Iron Door Pub. I had already eaten, but how can you get a beer without cheese curds? Minnesotan problem. Leah G. and I ordered cheese curds. They were good. They were lightly battered and nice and hot. They had a tomato powder that gave them a little more flavor. They were served in a marinara sauce, which I'm not a fan of in general of cheese curds and marinara so I opted for ketchup. My friend got a Cuban for dinner. She ordered the tater tots as her side. The Cuban was OK. The pork was a fatty which freaks me out and my friend kept saying how salty the whole thing was. If I go for food I will probably order something else. "Bar Snacks" - I think it's a joke that they charge $4 for popcorn or nuts, when you can go to Williams, pay about the same price for a beer and get unlimited free popcorn and nuts. The only upside is that it comes with a bacon and Parmesan seasoning. Overall, I will probably be back for Happy Hour to watch the wild games. They have plenty of TVs all around and it is in a nice location. Their Happy Hour is nice because it runs until 7 and its $2 off beer and apps. The beers are spendy but with happy hour it makes they about $4.50-$5.00.

Austin H.

Yelp
Although the no longer have darts this place has been amazing through the years. Great sports bar with awesome burgers.
google avatar

Max S.

Yelp
Food is amazing, beer selection is solid. Staff is friendly and service is good. Not to mention there are windows, so your not in a cave as is the case for most bars in Uptown. You can also easily see your bike if you park on the street.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
I came to the iron door pub again tonight hoping things would be better than the last time I was here. I have lived in uptown for the past 5 years and love supporting neighborhood businesses. I used to go to Cause all the time. It was a place that you could always count on to be a good time. Walking into the iron door pub, it felt like I was in a completely different neighborhood. I parked my bike outside and walked into a bar scene that looked like I was in Coon Rapids. There were no specials on any drinks. The food was all over-priced and filled with meat (I'm a vegetarian along with a large majority people in uptown). I really hope this place gets better because it's in such a good location. I don't want it to become another Williams (at least they have peanuts to throw) or another douchy uptown bar for out-of-towners to get drunk at!
google avatar

Leonard W.

Yelp
I'm an annoying food snob who knows how to cook.. like actually cook ( homemade gastrique and bearnaise are easily in my wheelhouse). I carefully reviewed and selected every restaurant that I visited this weekend (breakfast, lunch and dinner) except for the Iron Door. BLOWN AWAY! Their steak with their house made steak sauce I was outstanding! The steak was almost too good for their amazing steak sauce. Also ordered their Scotch Eggs which were in the top 3 of any I've ever had. Don't pass this up as a just a "bar with a kitchen". This place is legit. Seriously, shocked.
google avatar

Shawn S.

Yelp
Stopped in here after dinner on a Saturday night. I think that of the pubby places serving gastro food and tap beers, there are probably better choices. Parking is not convenient, and the beers are mostly $6 or more which is about buck above where many other places are at. It's worth checking out for yourself.
google avatar

Ida S.

Yelp
This was really just a stop for me on my way to an Improv show at Huge. My service was good and the beer tasted fine but the general atmosphere in here kind of reminds of all those divey places I like to avoid that are too loud and too full of women complaining about their frenemies. That isn't the business fault though so I won't dock any stars for annoying hipster/entitled clientele. I had a plate of fries and an EPA and both arrived in a timely fashion and were delicious. Next time I will try a more substantial dish to maybe get a better feel of the place.

Dezmen F.

Yelp
Frequent this place often. Tonight I come in order a to go burger and a drink while I wait. Some friends happens to come in that I knew and I ended up staying and finishing my burger in the box thinking it was no big deal. Bartender proceeds to complain that I'm "wasting to go boxes" and how I'm being "annoying". Offered to pay for to go box out of sheer pettiness but after I questioned him on his ridiculous complaint he didn't want the money. Tipped the server and the cook money and left.
google avatar

Jeni J.

Yelp
Iron Door Pub is so fun! We tried it out for "dive date nite" lol. I just had to order the Royale With Cheese burger (not just because I am a Tarantino fan lol). Perfect size and always well done! They also have fun little surprises on the menu--I recommend getting the burger with the potato salad! All I'll say is it ain't your grandma's potato salad lol! We will DEF be back to try out trivia here!

Garrett S.

Yelp
I was weary of this place because I'm not usually a fan of greasy bar food. I have now eaten at Iron Door a few times, and every meal has been amazing. This is American pub-style food at its peak!
google avatar

Brooke B.

Yelp
First time here. I ordered a build your own burger. I added bacon, cheddar cheese, cheese curds, and BBQ sauce. The burger already comes with lettuce, onions, tomatoes and pickles. The burger was very good. I also order it with a side of tots those were also very good and hot. I would have given this place 5 stars because of the food. But the service was not the best. The food took a really long time. There were only 3 servers working and they were not very organized. More people were drinking at the bar then eating and I just didn't understand why our food took as long as it did.
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
Always a great spot stop in on any night. started coming here when they opened and have always been back ever since. Not to mention that our favorite local bartender Graham works here on a Thursday night, so its always fun to catch up and BS with him. One of the main reasons of coming to the Iron Door is to try any and new beers I haven't had before. The food menu has a great variety (GET THE RUEBEN!!!!) as well as Gluten Free and Vegan options, which the waitress pointed out to us immediately after asking, which was great to know right away being hungry curious. The Iron Door is always great local bar to sit down and relax with a beer and a local game of baseball or hockey to enjoy. The staff are friendly and always knowledgeable of the drinks and food menus. Thank you Iron Door! Always great place to visit.
google avatar

Lee M.

Yelp
Went on a lunch break with a coworker, only two people there besides the bartender. Was a little skeptical but had the fat a$$ burger, it was awesome!!!! Will be going back for sure. Only complaint was the wait but for a burger of that size I imagine part of the wait was how they cook the burger. They also feature local sodas and the cola was amazing.. Round two.... Amazing! Had the bacon and egg burger. Served promptly and cocked just the way I ordered it! Will be back for lunch regularly
google avatar

Jamey B.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite brunch spots in Uptown! The whole brunch menu is delicious, but I particularly love the chicken nuggets and croque madame. Other notable items that get good reviews from friends include the toad in a hole, the breakfast burrito and the corn beef hash. Best of all, it's huge portions for a nice price and you basically get 2 meals for one. I also am a fan of their Bloody Mary bar. There is a nice assortment of pickles and cheeses, but I'm not the biggest fan of the Bloody Mary mix they have. It's ok, just not my favorite.

Yelp
Good food, good beer, good service! My friend and I had a great time at the iron door pub! I will definitely go back!

Yelp
This place sucks for a LITANY of reasons. Wannabe CC club. The same pathetic air of pretentious douchebaggery but no history or pool tables to back it up. Zero stars. Do not recommend.

Yelp
Good tap list, friendly wait staff, HUGE place so you never have to wait for a table. Decent food.
