We had a beautiful Monday afternoon at the winery. Our host, Gracen, was delightful and could match our since humor. We never felt rushed, so we meandered around enjoying the different views between tastings. They have a beautiful vineyard and it was a lovely afternoon at a very reasonable price. We did the tasting of still wines 🍷😋👍🏻

Google
This is one of our favorite wineries to taste at. The location is gorgeous and the sparkling wines are incredible. We used to be wine club members and I miss our regular shipments. It may feel out of the way but it really isn’t. It’s definitely worth it to make a tasting reservation to enjoy some sparkling wine on the property. Another bonus is that they waive the testing fee if you purchase 3 bottles.

Google
Great place for wine tasting alone or with friends and family. Especially if you’re outside tasting on a warm day. I love the water mist at the bar and the cold bubbles served by knowledgeable and chill staff, who seem like they are right at home. Club membership recommended for those who share a liking in good reds and bubbles. Love it! 🥂❤️

Beautiful view and super tasty sparkling wine collection. Visited with my cousin sisters and totally loved the experience. Great service too!

Google
I read a lot of winery descriptions for our visit to the area. The description of “relaxed bubbles” couldn’t be more accurate for Iron Horse. This was the most amazing start to our Saturday morning (10am) tour. Highly recommend a sunny morning visit to Iron Horse.

Iron Horse Winery is an absolute gem nestled in the stunning Russian River Valley hills. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed with breathtaking views and a peaceful ambience that perfectly sets the tone for an unforgettable tasting experience. The wines? Incredible. The Pinot Noirs are elegant, balanced, and bursting with character — easily some of the best I’ve ever had. And the sparkling wines? Simply phenomenal. Each sip is crisp, vibrant, and expertly crafted. Whether you’re a longtime wine lover or just discovering the beauty of Sonoma County wines, Iron Horse delivers on every level. What truly made the experience exceptional was the hospitality. Tanner was warm, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. And meeting Joy, the owner, was such a treat — her passion for the winery shines through in everything from the wines to the atmosphere. Both made the experience feel personal and memorable. This place is a must-visit. Beautiful wines, wonderful people, and a setting that feels like a slice of wine country heaven. Can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful setting with a relaxed, informal vibe. The sparkling wine tasting was phenomenal, and it’s great that you can bring your own snacks. Excellent value for the experience!

This is an exceptional winery, with outstanding bubbles, views and warm hospitality. Our host, Carl, consistently provides attentive and personalized service. As a regular visitor, I can confidently say that among the 380 wineries in Sonoma, this one is truly worth experiencing and joining their club, so you can come back any time to enjoy some time and great wine with friends.

Yelp
Iron Horse exceeded all our expectations! Our visit was purely spontaneous and did not disappoint. Tanner was such an amazing host, great conversation, fun and knowledgeable about the wines. The view is incredible, a must see in person. Then as far as the wines, some of the very best we've ever tasted. And trust me when I say, we've tasted a lot. 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
Iron Horse has been a long time favorite of mine. I was lucky enough to receive a year-long membership as a gift from my brother for my wedding. Honestly, I've never been disappointed by any bottle. From Ocean Reserve to Russian River Cuvée, Fairytale, and Wedding Cuvée, every sip has me feeling like a bubbly connoisseur... or at least an enthusiastic amateur! I finally had the pleasure of visiting their gorgeous vineyard and was not disappointed! Let me tell you, it was like stepping into a postcard. The weather was lovely and it was as if the sun was shining just for me. How could anyone not be happy when you're surrounded by such beauty? With such greenery, so many wild flowers, skies this blue, clouds this puffy, so many bubbles it'd make a mermaid jealous! You'd think Disney itself would have had a say in creating this. I'm just saying if happiness was a vineyard, it would be Iron Horse! The detail and intricacy that goes in to making these delicious bottles of joy is so much work and it really shows, they truly are works of art, and I do love a good bottle of art. And let me tell you about our sommelier, Grayson. This dude was a blast! We had so much fun I swear we should've had an audience with all of our jokes (Jk) but seriously, we shared so much laughter, and agreed that sparkling wine truly brings joy out of people, I mean how can it not? The simple sound of a popping cork instantly makes me smile, it's like listening to the sweet serenade of a bird, okay maybe not but I'm sure you get it. So my first walk away from Iron Horse was semi-victorious with the Winter Fairy Tale Wedding set, which included Winter's Cuvée, Fairy Tale, and Wedding Cuvée. I can't wait to pop those bottles open at home. I'm looking forward to the fizzies tickling my nose and doing a happy dance to my favorite song! Because let's face it--who doesn't look fabulous dancing with a glass of sparkling wine in hand? And I say semi-victorious because had I been driving and NOT flying I would have taken more, my luggage was kinda full already. Anyway, this is long but well deserved, the moral of my story is life is short, pop that cork and get fizzy with it.

Yelp
Iron horse vineyards are breathtakingly beautiful. We made a reservation for four and enjoyed our outdoor tasting. The sparkling wines were great and enjoyed having them with the view of the beautiful vineyards. Our sommelier was nice and she gave us a good overview of each wine and answered our questions on the vineyard , grapes and weather and harvest time. I wish they could have had some cheese/crackers however they allow you to bring your own. Thanks for our first Sonoma wine tasting!

Yelp
Friends had suggested that I visit Iron Horse during a very limited time in the Sonoma area. Our group was leaving a different tasting at 2:45 and I called Iron Horse to make sure they could take our party of 3. There was some hesitation because they prefer advance reservations and they were booked up that afternoon. After checking twice and two periods of being on hold, I was told we had a reservation for 3:00. I reiterated that we were 20 minutes away and it was now 2:50 but that we would get there as soon as we could. We arrived and the drive is STUNNING. An avenue of 30 foot palm trees with olive trees at the base welcome arriving guests. After you exit your vehicle, you're able to take in the amazing views that surround you highlighting the rolling hills, forests, mountains, and geysers. Visit = worth it. Yep, based on views alone. We wandered over to the barn area and found the tasting area which is completely outside and, of course, provides further access to the views. Come to find out, they weren't actually booked after 3. They were just planning on closing. We're so thankful that they stayed open for our party. The bubbly beverages were delicious and the conversation was top-notch as well. As you'd expect anywhere, the knowledge about the wine being served was extensive but also the local topography. We truly had a fantastic visit and I highly recommend a visit to Iron Horse for anyone in the area. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
Iron Horse Vineyards is a beautiful, rustic spot. It's all about the setting here - almost entirely outdoors with sweeping, picturesque views that create the perfect backdrop for wine tasting. Seating is limited and simple, so expect a relaxed, open-air vibe that brings you close to nature. You will pretty much stand the whole time. We visited on a hot day and enjoyed refreshing cool bubbly sparkling wines. If you're looking for an unfussy, scenic vineyard experience, Iron Horse is absolutely worth the trip!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow beautiful surroundings! Max is awesome! We have done a bot and bubble event here before which was super fun and delicious. If you have not been you must go. See Max or Christy! They are super sweet and knowledgeable.

Yelp
A casual tasting with a beautiful view of the vineyard. Iron Horse is known for their sparkling wines, but you have the option to choose all still options too. When we arrived, we were greeted with a bubbly Chardonnay. There isn't much seating--everyone was standing at their table while the server pours you your next tasting. Our server was super friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the different wines and their profiles. I'm not much of a wine person but joined my friends for this tasting and it was a fun experience!
google avatar

Debbie R.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is fantastic! Reserve a picnic table grab a couple bottles of wine and bring your own food and enjoy the views. They have a very good Pinot, even though they are well-known for their bubbly.
google avatar

Yelp
A beautiful vineyard with a very casual tasting situation. Iron Horse is really a sparkling wine winery. That is there primary focus and what the do best. No spill buckets, more of a toss over the shoulder approach to things. I tried their Pinots and realized it was a "side project." Better options are out there.

Sophie H.

Yelp
Not great. We are Industy. 3x we were asked who we worked for and who was driving us. Very uncomfortable. And took away from the experience. Sophie RR (took my business card you wouldn't take from down the street)

Yelp
I can't believe I live 20 minutes from this winery and this is my first time visiting. First I love a full production winery, they grow, barrel, bottle and pour all their own wine and don't sell their grapes to anyone else! Second the staff was great! Very relaxed and friendly, gave us a few extra pours of some wine they thought we might like. Overall great time and will be returning!

Yelp
We never skip Iron Horse while in Sonoma!!! One of the best tasting experiences I've ever had! Such a tasty assortment of wines; I love a set with some bubbly !! There's a rich history here too, ask them about when the president drank some of the wine! You couldn't ask for a more lovely setting. I recommend doing the tasting then heading over to the picnic tables and having an extra glass !

Yelp
We had Iron Horse on our radar specifically for their sparkling wines, so we made reservations to stop here during our trip to Sonoma. We visited on a weekday afternoon, and we were surprised at the number of people there! The crowd certainly wasn't overwhelming, but it was great to know that multiple folks had this one on their list too. We explored the grounds a bit while we waiting for our reservation to be ready. The rolling hills with the vines were beautiful, and you could seemingly see out for miles and miles atop the hill where the winery stood. Iron Horse has a variety of seating options, including benches under a bit of cover, benches in the sunlight with an umbrella, and counters with standing room. We were placed at the counter, which worked out well. Our server was quite charismatic and had true passion for what he did. When I learned we were similar ages and with similar birthdays, it led to fun conversation that lasted the whole tasting. For our tasting selection, it was a no brainer that we would opt for the sparkling , which featured 4 different wines. Our server also slipped a 5th one in based on our likes and interest, which was a great touch. My favorite of the tasting was the Ocean Reserve - not only an excellent wine to drink, but also with a philanthropic mission. I was slightly disappointed that Iron Horse did not offer any food (prepare before your visit), but the ambience and wines themselves made it totally worth it. If you love sparkling wines and want to switch it up from other wine offerings in Sonoma, Iron Horse is your place to go!
google avatar

Natalie F.

Yelp
If you love bubbles, you are going to love Iron Horse! A bit off the beaten path, Iron Horse has incredible views and even better sparkling wine. It is a more casual environment - all outdoors and tasting at the bar. Customer service is really great.. the perfect mix between friendly and knowledgable! I forgot what our wine guide's name but he was super tall basketball player and really nice so shout out to him! Overall, I love this place! I would join this winery in a heartbeat BUT they are not dog friendly and I take my dog with me wine tasting pretty much 90% of the time so it makes life a little difficult. Please consider being dog friendly! Especially for cute toy poodles that enjoy the wine scene.

Yelp
There are very wineries in the world more beautiful than, location wise, than iron horse. Spectacular west Sonoma elevated hill and vineyard views. Most tasting happen outside and that's the only way I'd want it frankly. Even when it's hot! The somms are also great.... Friendly , knowledgeable and well versed in how their wines are made. Love all of their sparkling wines ...especially their library wines . All categorized by the sugar scale...helpful and good to align your tastes. Parking is plentiful and the drive is totally worth it...
google avatar

Yelp
The outdoor tasting space is a bit rustic but nice the tables have umbrellas and are like a high top table but no chairs. We got lucky it was absolutely gorgeous out, because of all the rains everywhere you looked was lush green and beautiful. The tastings here you have to stand although there is more seating behind the tasting rooms outdoors. Our server was Danielle she is on it! She has an extreme knowledge about all of the wines and she was a delightful part of our visit so much so that my bestie is now a member and I am a member of another nearby winery, so our next visit it will be double our pleasure, The views and our amazing server Danielle, oh and not to mention the delicious sparkling wine here everything here is absolutely delicious and delightful hope to see you there. Cheers ALL see you on Yelp Review 312 -3/29/23

Yelp
Iron Horse Vineyards was rated top Sparkling wine from Wine spectator, and I can totally agree with this assessment. Their wines have been at several Presidential events and they are family owned. My sister was celebrating her anniversary and this was her winery she went to on her honeymoon. Our winery guide served us amazing sparkling varietals because they literally introduced many people to Iron Horse over the years. This winery is casual, outdoor, and some are standing. Every wine varietal is perfection as well. Thank you Iron Horse for always providing a great experience.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come here for some time and it did not disappoint. Came mainly to try their sparklings, the favorite of my gal friend for her birthday. They have some lovely Pinots too. Quite an amazing view, friendly staff. Be forwarned, they do not have much seating and do not have any indoor space. The day we went was a tad cold, they do have heaters. The ride there was lovely - definately worth checking out!

Yelp
Really good wine tasting w/ a great view We liked this selection: 2019 Russian River Cuvée Fun Fact: Overheard that this was the wine was served at the peace talks btw Reagan & Gorbachev at the end of the Cold War
google avatar

Janette W.

Yelp
This is one of the most visually striking wineries I've been to. The views are truly spectacular. We were able to taste outside, which gave us the chance to really take it all in. I found everyone to be so friendly, not just the people who worked here, but generally everyone we encountered. The wines were pretty tasty too.
google avatar

Amir V.

Yelp
The place is gorgeous and the little wine we tasted was not bad. Our rating experience started on the wrong foot as wind blew the welcoming table up resulting in a broken glass and cloths wet from wine. As for the tasting, we couldn't really enjoy the it s the place has NO option of buying any food. This is very uncommon and was not expected. As a result we ended up only tasting the first two wines and didn't even try the rest.

Yelp
Iron Horse Vineyards specializes in producing high quality sparkling wine and they do a great job. They make a variety of cuvées, each one is distinct and delicious. Blanc de Blanc, Blanc de Noir, Brut Rose, all are covered in different vineyards and dosages (sweetness levels measured in grams per liter). Tasting at Iron Horse Vineyards is a fun and educational experience, lot's of good information on the wines and how they are made. The winery has plenty of parking, you step up to a rustic bar area and enjoy a series of Sparkling wines. They also offer some still wines but honestly if you are visiting Iron Horse go for their specialty which is sparkling wine. Service is a strong point here, our server Danaii went into great detail on the history of Iron Horse and their wines. She was awesome! As you are enjoying the wines the views are their equal as you look out at the estate vineyards. Be sure to set a reservation and go enjoy the best sparkling wines in Sonoma County!

Natasha K.

Yelp
I called to ask a few questions about their winery/wine, as we were considering doing a tasting here later in the day. Jared answered, and he was incredibly rude and condescending to me (it was actually very jarring to experience). I asked him maybe a total of two questions (namely, I wanted to know if they had any prosecco and if their wines were similar to champaign). Jared was clearly annoyed with my questions and when I asked him if the wines tasted similar to champaign (as I do not like champaign) he just said "well you'll just need to come find out for yourself." Mind you, we had only been speaking for like a total of 15 seconds - it's not like I had taken up a bunch of his time asking tons of questions. Before I could close the conversation by asking him if they took walk ins for tastings, he abruptly hung up on me in the middle of my sentence. Safe to say, we will not be visiting this winery due to how Jared treated me on the phone.
google avatar

Dana T.

Yelp
My husband and I went here for some sparkling wine for my birthday. The view was beautiful. The sparkling wine was delicious. The vibe is more casual. They said to toss the wine you didn't drink over the hill. There is no seating and tables are for standing. My only bone to pick is that I don't understand why it would be prepaid reservation only for $35/pp when there is such a casual vibe. It seems like they have the capability to just be able to go and order a glass or bottle of champagne. Aside from that, it was a good experience.
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
Spent the morning tasting wine at Iron Horse. The drive was super pretty and we had a beautiful view overlooking their 350 acre operation. We tried 2 still white and 2 reds - I'm partial to the red myself, but it was very picturesque! For a wine tasting, I was hoping for a little more of a tour, but we were largely left to ourselves.
google avatar

Karalina H.

Yelp
This was my first wine tasting and I loved it! Iron Horse Vineyards was recommended to me by my friend. She told me this place has the best sparkling wine. It turned out to be so good that we even bought one of the bottles. And I used to think I don't even like wine. Our sommelier answered all of our questions and told us about every wine we tried. The wine was delicious! The view was amazing. We definitely had a great experience!
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Went out here on a Sunday and they were booked up with reservations but they were able to get us in ! The views are surprisingly beautiful. Almost felt like we were in a different country. You go down a almost one lane road then there is a slight elevation gain and the view is amazing. The sparkling is top tier. Great outside seating and very relaxing.
google avatar

Roan P.

Yelp
We had an amazing tasting here. That all their fruit is grown within the expansive view is a real plus. The connection of the people to the land, the vines, the fruit, the wine is palpable. We didn't feel rushed or pressured, just a real pleasurable afternoon. Say hi to the little carpenter bee under the bar for us. Tell em The Wayward Travelers said hello
google avatar

Kiki K.

Yelp
Delicious bubbly with a view! I love visiting Iron Horse and have even become a member now. The wine and staff are great, but I am docking 1 star for not having a place for people to sit during the tasting. I don't quite understand why it's all standing-only. There are benches to the side that you can sit at, but you will have to keep going back up to get your tasting refills. And there's a great picnic area with tables/seating, but I don't know what you have to do to get that area. I'm a member and it was not an option for us, so I have no clue! Would love if this policy changes in the future!
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely scenery and ambiance. I had the best time with my girlfriends! Our sommelier was a bad ass! I love living in Sonoma county! Oh and I purchased a bottle, can't wait to share it with loved ones! Or all to myself! Cheers!

Yelp
Great location, outstanding view, beautiful grounds, and super fun staff!! Dianna was great! Friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful Outstanding experience! Must do in Sonoma county!!

Yelp
Loved the winery and view! The lack of chairs for a 75 min tasting made it feel as tough it was just that... no socializing, pound it back and get on the way!

Tracy D.

Yelp
I love this place. First came here in July after searching for some bubblies on Yelp. Easy to make an online reservation. Signed up to be a member on the spot. I appreciate how there's something for the red and white wine drinkers and a sparkling flight for the lovers of bubbly like me. The setting is gorgeous and tucked away yet not to far off the path of several wineries. It's a quick one hour drive from my home too and on the way to several places we frequent often Eg Bodega Bay, The Barlow. Since the first time I've been back in August and September to pick up my goods which is every other month but I came back early! This time around I appreciate Ashley's expertise, knowledge and experience. She was quick to serve even with limited time and other customers while also balancing time spent and conversation with each of us. I love coming here because of this service during Covid where other places nearby may be lacking.
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
I've been here several times over the last 10 years and always enjoy the experience. The views from the outdoor tasting area are spectacular. The service has always been top notch but laidback. I have always made a reservation for during the week and avoid the weekends. The sparkling wines are what I always go for here as they are hard to beat. A few of the still wines are good, but not my preference. If you go for a tasting, I recommend the sparkling. What I can't get on board with is the bottle prices at the winery. They used to have case specials or mixed case specials that were decently discounted. But I haven't seen this for a few years. I find that I can buy their products for less in distribution -- check your local wine shop or an online wine seller.
google avatar

Deborah J.

Yelp
We loved our wine tasting at Iron Horse Vineyards! The grounds are beautiful from the top of the hill looking down on over 200 acres of vineyards. Our wine tasting included a flight of sparkling wines. The wines were on point and the scenery enhanced their mellowness. Our wine host was very informative and accommodating. We definitely enjoyed every moment of this experience.

Yelp
This place was amazing. I highly recommend a visit - but be sure to reserve in advance because the excellence of this winery is no secret. They offer two types of tastings: a regular flight and a sparkling wine flight. We chose the sparkling wine flight. They use both Pinot noir and Chardonnay grapes - and they use the champagne method - same as in France. They offer one blanc de blanc and three blancs de noir in the sparkling wine tasting flight. The owners were inspired, when they lived in France, to create a winery in California that mimics the quality of product availabile in the Champagne region of France - and they succeeded. The bubbles are tiny and the Brut is breathtaking. For the socially conscious, this winery has even partnered with National Geographic, where the proceeds from the Ocean Reserve go to help National Geographic's ocean initiative. So of course we had to buy some. The winery itself has a friendly, accessible and unpretentious atmosphere. The tastings happen outdoors at a bar (with a few tables under the shade of umbrellas), that offers a breathtaking view of the estate. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and goes above and beyond to make your experience at Iron Horse Vineyards a memorable one. Just a word to the wise - make sure you lock down your rides to and from the winery in advance - it's hard to get Ubers and Lyfts once you're out there. That said, the staff is happy to help you find a ride, and will wait patiently and let you do your thing until your ride arrives. Iron Horse Vineyards is a must-visit (no pun intended) if you plan on being in Sonoma.

Stef R.

Yelp
Our group had a fantastic tasting experience on 12/11 with Hospitality team member Danielle Devore. She was exceptionally responsive, professional, knowledgeable, fun, and friendly. It had been several years since our last visit to Iron Horse and Danielle's superb hospitality made us want to tell all our friends, family members and wine colleagues to visit Iron Horse this holiday season. Grateful, happy Cheers to Danielle and the splendid sparkling wines served at Iron Horse Vineyards!

Trey S.

Yelp
I placed an order the day before for a magnum sized bottle pickup. When I got there I stood there in front of the tasting staff for a awkward while without being greeted only to finally have someone help me through a disorganized process to look up my order, then have me stand off to the side while they got a dusty bottle and sent me off. I live nearby and told them I had never been there, the person who helped never even offered me a taste of any of their wines. Beautiful location but strange experience.
google avatar

Eydie R.

Yelp
This winery has some of the most beautiful views! Location: Very off the beaten path - and I do mean beaten path. Lol. The road here is bumpy, steep and one-way. You do need to make an appointment for wine tastings. Our sommelier was wonderful but very busy serving others as well. I think the tasting fee is a little pricey at $30 but if you buy a bottle, they will waive the price of the flight but I'd go back just for the views alone. I tried a flight of sparkling and asked for a extra tasting of the Pinot Noir which was very good. I did buy a Sparkling due to the story behind it being served to a few Presidents back in the day and it was really delicious.
google avatar

Livier M.

Yelp
This place was suggested by a friend and it did not disappoint. The history of the winery and the stories about what the wine were made for and where they have been used was really cool to here. The staff were amazing and very accommodating. They weren't upset that we had arrived 15 minutes late with two extra people than our original reservation. They just smiled and welcomed us in. Would def recommend this place to anyone in the area.
google avatar

Britney W.

Yelp
Delicious bubbly! Friendly staff. Only downside is the bar is small and when you are at the bar you completely miss the incredible views, would have loved a place to sit over looking the Vineyards

Yelp
A huge compliment to Iron Horse as one of the most friendly and gorgeous winery experiences we know in Sonoma. We've been coming here for more than 10 years and have always been treated with a smile, great wines, generous pours and gorgeous views. We love that it's a place for a quiet glass in a rustic, romantic setting--and grateful that they take care to keep the ambiance that way. So to the whiny, self-absorbed parents who just posted about it not being 'family friendly'--I was there that day (2/26), and you were anything but considerate, respectful, or responsible parents. I've seen many well-behaved children at many area wineries (including Iron Horse) and applaud the ones who are mindful enough to appreciate that they're not the center of the universe. You were not the only paying customers, and you were not the only ones trying to enjoy a tranquil wine-tasting experience this weekend. Some of us may have saved up vacation for a whole year to visit Sonoma. Some of us may have had a rough day, week or even 2 years and needed a moment to enjoy a glass of wine and a change of scenery. And most of us also have children--but we don't expect those around our kids to 'accept' that our toddlers are more important than everyone else around them... I was there this past weekend and witnessed (firsthand) the mess, the noise (WHO lets their kid bang on a xylophone at a winery????), and worse the lack of consideration you showed all the other guests AND the Iron Horse staff by treating the winery as your personal kinder care. A little FYI: Most of us don't visit Iron Horse--or any other winery--to sit among uncontrolled, poorly-parented children ruining a peaceful setting when we're also 'burned out' after 2 years of sacrifices, hard work, sickness, lock downs and more... All this said, I am now even more grateful--and impressed--by how Iron Horse made every attempt to make the experience pleasant for ALL their guests when you were so blatantly rude. We could tell they were distressed at having to police you, and amazed at how gracious they remained when you were so clearly clueless and lacking basic manners. As longtime patrons of Iron Horse and someone who frequents many Sonoma wineries--I can say that the staff at Iron Horse is one of our favorite in the county. We recommend the winery to everyone (and I mean everyone) looking for a peaceful, scenic tasting experience coupled with great wines and amazing staff. We'll continue to recommend you--even to our friends with kids. Thank you Iron Horse!

Yelp
I am 33 years old and this is everything I want in a winery- VIEWS, big pours, conversation and premium product. Yes, make an appointment. I recommend this being your first stop of the day since you will have a navigate a steep one-way road. My mom and I each got a flight of sparkling wine which I regret because there are chardonnay and pinot flights as well. There was a group of three next to us and they each got a different flight and shared. I mentioned this to my mom and she said NO WAY SHE WAS SHARING HER SPARKLING FLIGHT. I don't know much about wine but I'm a teacher and I like hearing the stories behind each variety. Our wine guy shared the story behind the Wedding Cuvee (which was produced for his daughters wedding). Followed by the next variety, Brut X (which was produced after his daughters divorce). He was amazing and full of great information. I asked about "Korbel" which was right down the road and I was told that they have an amazing deli. . . Read between the lines. I had to check it out for myself -HE WAS RIGHT. Iron Horse is THE spot for sparkling wine in the Russian River region. I cannot wait to come back here in the summer for their Sunday Oyster and Sparkling Wine Events.

Yelp
This was my first ever visit to a winery in my life so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. And came recommended by a coworker of my daughter so we went for it. It was an easy drive from Petaluma where we were staying with a few narrow roads where are you really need to take your time. We had a 2:30 PM reservation and arrive slightly before and were immediately assigned to a tasting area. We chose the $30 a person package. For this we were allowed to taste five wines so we did for bubbly and one non-. Justin our host did a phenomenal job of explaining each of the wines and even provided us with a great place for lunch. The views are amazing from the main area. We arrived too late to get the oysters. You can even see the leaves growing up on the parking area. I was a bit surprised that there was no food or snack served in between each wine so you may want to bring something yourself to nibble on. It was a wonderful experience and I would do it again or bring friends.

Yelp
Sparkling house! They have non-sparkling wines but you'll want to go for the sparkling. They have a lot of history and have served high profile events. The scenery outside is really nice. Different than the other vineyards we visited. It is worth the trip. The sommelier was very knowledgeable, as she should be! You might learn a little about the different sugar content levels and "brut." Good vibes. Check it out.

Yelp
We were super excited to try out Iron Horse Vineyards. The drive in was absolutely beautiful! It was a winding drive through the countryside on a road lined with trees older than my parents. The weather was perfect and included a slight breeze. Making the reservation was a bit of a chore. We called at 10:00 and Ariana answered the phone. We said we would like to make a reservation and she said we could get in at 4:00. We said we would like to get in earlier, around 1:00 and she hemmed and hawed and finally said 'I guess we could get you in at 2:00' When we arrived it wasn't very busy at all. I understand the need for reservations, but it wasn't even close to half full by any means. We checked in and got our glasses and were told to grab any space at the wine bar (because it was empty). Just by luck, we ended up with Ariana serving us. The wine was great! The service was far from lacking. Ariana came across very hoity and aloof. She came off rude and unapproachable to say the least. The tasting experience could have been amazing giving the wine and the setting but she was a distraction that we could have done without. Taking Ariana out of the equation the winery would have had another couple stars.

Yelp
Ashley was amazing! She was our tasting guide and was welcoming and full of knowledge. My family did the sparkling tasting where she guided us through history of sparkling wines as we tasted. The tasting area was an outdoor patio with sweeping views of the vineyard! Would go back!

Yelp
The wine was fantastic and the people were knowledgeable and friendly! The wine is served at the White House.

Yelp
Today we had our dog with us - so we just intended to pop in for a few minutes, get our shipment and be on our way. My partner went over to the bar area to collect the order and I hung back in the central (outside) area with our dog - completely away from any other guests / employees. I was approached by the owner and told I had to immediately leave. I explained that we were just picking up our member shipment and would be leaving in just a few minutes, She was extremely abrupt and again told me to leave immediately (even though we were the only ones in that area!). The winery was completely empty apart from three other guests. I really didn't appreciate the way I was spoken down to - we were only there for a few minutes and I had made a point of standing well away from anybody else. Needless to say our membership is now cancelled and we won't be visiting again. I highly recommend spending your dollars at other family owned wineries in the area - that will appreciate your business and make you feel welcome as a member / customer.
