California’s Sierra Foothills AVA Remains a Land of Opportunity for Winemakers | Eater SF

"Run as a family operation by Tom Jones, his wife Beth, and their son Spencer, the winery reflects a generational commitment to winemaking — Tom started in El Dorado County in 1983 and Spencer earned a master of science in enology and viticulture from UC Davis, making them one of the region's few father‑son duos with that shared educational pedigree. At Iron Hub the Joneses have long farmed barbera, a grape the foothills favor, and they’re outspoken about preserving homes and heritage amid rising development pressure: Beth and neighbors worry about parcelization and massive wine operations moving in, and the family is intent on keeping quiet nights, dark skies, and old olive trees intact." - Paolo Bicchieri

10 Best Wineries to Visit in California’s Gold Country | Eater SF

"If you want your wine tasting with a side of gorgeous views, Iron Hub Winery and Vineyards is the place to go. Situated on a hilltop, the glass encased tasting room offers views of the Shenandoah Valley to drink in while you sip grenache or zinfandel. The grounds are family-friendly, as well, with activities like cornhole available as a fun diversion, and well-behaved dogs are welcomed on the patio." - Dianne de Guzman

Absolutely beautiful view and a great experience. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and informative with all the different wines in our tasting. We loved the charcuterie board too! We will definitely be returning in the future!

Our group was in town for a long weekend of wine tasting in Plymouth. We visited 9 wineries and every winery visit was great, except for Iron Hub. It was recommended by two people separately and so we expected a great wine tasting experience. Unfortunately it was just ok. I think it's just the stark contrast to the superb, friendly, and warm service that we were getting at the other wineries that is the problem here. The service from our hostess Ruth Ella was friendly but I think she wasn't very accommodating. Might be the winery's policy. We asked about other wines and were told that we can only try what's on our menu. At other places, they usually would let us try before buying and we usually buy a case of wine in the end to be shipped home. We did buy a bottle of their aglianico blend to try and purchased two of that to take home. We did meet the winemaker Spencer and his cute dogs. Spencer was really nice and chatted with our group for a bit. It's a beautiful winery with a sweeping vista but unfortunately we just felt like service wasn't all that great here.

We visited the winery on Saturday afternoon in fall. The tasting room was packed with people from a local event. However, the staffs were friendly and very accommodating. Hubby & I split a wine tasting since we weren't a big wine drinker. We tried Chardonnay 2021, Rose 2022, Barbera 2020, Esola Zinfandel 2020, and Cross Creek Zinfandel 2020. My favorite was the Barbera. They have limited indoor seating but plenty tables outdoor. The outdoor seating was very nice during that time. The view around the vineyard was beautiful too. We might come back another time when it’s not too busy.

Google
Beautiful property and views, but extremely loud and crowded. We were there on a Saturday, and even with reservations, people were extremely crammed in. The live music was so loud you had to shout to have a conversation, I felt like I needed ear plugs. Better if you want a party vibe, but if you want to relax on a patio with wine, probably not your best bet.

Hanna B.

Google
Best winery in Shenandoah! Great wines, the outmost attentive customer service. Treating their members as family. Their Proprietors Reserve Chardonnay is the best. 4 different Zinfandels, each with its own twist and bold flavour. Thank you for your hospitality and amazing views. We love Iron Hub!

Google
It was 20 miutes before anyone acknowledged us which was promted with one of our party of 4 asking the bartender if we could get waited on. We received 1 tasting and when we finished that, we waited another 10 minutes before a person in our party again went to them and told them we were leaving because we couldn't get service. And there were 5 people behind the bar! As the 4 of us walked out the door, 3 of the bartenders said thanks for coming, have a good day, things of that nature. We will not go back.

Google
Iron Hub Winery is a great smaller winery with fantastic wines made by the former winemaker of Lava Cap in the Apple Hill area. Iron Hub has a gorgeous tasting room that overlooks Amador County's Shanendoah Valley with a beautiful view of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The outside patio is very spacious with tables/umbrellas, chairs, that overlook the valley, is pet-friendly, and offers a nice selection of snacks and wines! Ask for Beth Jones, co-owner & wife of Tom Jones...the amazing & talented winemaker! A very special place of a family-owned vineyard!

Google
Fantastic views from the tasting room! One of the best tasting rooms we have seen! Very nice Petite Sirah and Barbera. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly, definitely a must-see if you’re in the area.

Yelp
LOVE this spot! Great wine, great atmosphere and our semmolier Ben was so knowledgeable and friendly. Joined their club and so excited to be a part of it!

Yelp
Friday, 7/07/2023 - my GFs and I went to Iron Hub Winery to wine taste. Address is 12500 Steiner Rd, Plymouth, CA 95669. Beautiful winery. Wine tasting is like $15 per person was what I was told. I don't drink so wasn't into the tasting. Upon arrival.. Pros 1) plenty of parking when we arrived. 2) gorgeous winery 3) staffs nice. Very informative. 4) clean winery. 5) they have a small menu. Light. Like cheese, crackers and bread. You cut it yourself. Tasted good. 6) Beautiful view in the back. Cons 1) service was extremely slow. 2) in 2 of the wine cups, there were hair and particles in it. While the other 3 did not have anything in it. The other 3 were clean. Conclusion This winery was ok. Beautiful views. Staffs nice. Wines were ok. We didn't buy any at this location. Parking was good.

Yelp
Our third and final wine stop for the day was iron hub winery. We didn't have a reservation but luckily they were able to accommodate us and our two dogs on their patio. Yes, they are dog friendly, and they actually have three dogs of their own that they call "wine ambassadors". This is good to be mindful of in case your dog can be a little dog selective, like one of ours is. But the three wine ambassadors quickly picked up on this and left our dogs alone. As for the wines, we thoroughly enjoyed our tasting and actually ended up buying a bottle of Barbera to enjoy. They do offer some charcuterie items, just beware that they are entire packages worth of cheese, meats, and bread/crackers, since they come directly from a grocery store. A very clean and modern tasting space with plenty of shade and fresh air. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in the area.

Yelp
Love this winery. Delicious wines, beautiful views, and friendly, chill staff. The grounds and gardens are inspiring, but in a relaxed "I want to spend the afternoon sipping wine and soaking up life" sorta way. Must try their red blends (GSM - "Triad" is delish).

Yelp
We found Iron Hub earlier this year on a trip in May. We traveled back up with Family in September and again in early November. 3 trips all with exceptional service. Elise is our favorite but we had others too and all were fantastic. The knowledge and LOVE of their wines shine through. The Views!!! WOW WOW WOW and seriously the wines are just as good. We were never rushed, we brought our snacks the second time, and the third time we had cheese and crackers from their menu. We enjoyed it so much that we joined their wine club and we live an hour and forty-five minutes away. Can't wait to get back up there to see the views and sip some wine.

Yelp
Iron Hub is a beautiful winery in Plymouth. This was stop number 2 for my group of 4 on our wine tasting weekend. We had made a reservation luckily as this place was so busy. We were greeted quickly and shown to our outside table which had many wonderful views. The menu was very nice and easy to read. It was quite busy so there were two people taking care of us however we never had to wait ling in between pours, neither did we feel rushed to leave. It was a really hot day but they have shade and umbrellas and fans. You can also bring your own food to enjoy while tasting which I think is awesome. We packing some charcuterie and it went perfectly with our tasting. There are also 3 sweet border collies that stroll around and visit the wineries guests which is a win in my book. The tasting is $15 and waived with the purchase of two bottles. Pack a small ice chest with some snacks or lunch and visit Iron Hub with some friends and pet some dogs.

Yelp
We saved this place for last and it was a great way to end the day. The views are absolutely stunning. We ordered a charcuterie board that went well with everyone's wine. The best part was Brixie and Smokey. Ruthella was our guide and she did amazing explaining all the wines and the history of the winery and the owners. She was very hospitable and kind. Would definitely come back again.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful location, but was very disappointed with the tiniest of tiny pours ($15/pp). There really wasn't enough in the glass to decide if you liked the wine or not. Didn't appreciate being chastised about feeding the dog just because we had small children present. Sounds like other servers may provide a better experience based on other reviews.

Yelp
We were camping in Pioneer and came here to celebrate my birthday. The view from the patio was beautiful and it was a lovely tasting room too. Since we were camping we had the kids and they had games and picnic tables for them. Great place and we will be back!

Yelp
stumbled across this gem while exploring Plymouth. I happened to book a tasting at a winery nearby and found this one on Google. I loved the atmosphere. The staff made sure I was taken care of and was attentive during my visit. The owner was able to make an accommodation and move my scheduled tasting to a timer later than planned which I really appreciated. There were also some groups playing games or hanging out - so it was inviting. And the view!!! Overlooking the other parts of Plymouth. I caught it as the sun was setting. The wine is balanced and elegant. I ended up leaving with a bottle of port. I wasn't aware that some of the items on the menu were not made at the winery. I ordered the creme brulee cookies and chocolate truffle cake. When it arrived I was thrown off by the packaging. It looked like something you could get at a local bakery. THE COOKIES WERE DELICIOUS THOUGH. So it was a good surprise. I gave the chocolate truffle cake away though so I can't comment on that. Overall, I would visit again.

Yelp
Driving up to this place was a little intimidating because it takes you up quite a steep hill but once you get there, it levels out with more parking spaces as well. Once you're up there, the views are beautiful from all 4 sides. Lots of beautiful vineyards. Definitely photo worthy. The inside has a lengthy bar area with business in the front and party in the back. You'll have a server for your table whom are very friendly and they'll take your order. Our table ordered tastings and food. The food is prepackaged. But everything paired well nicely. Our server, Chantal was amazing and assisted with everything we needed. I have been scoping out a place to have my sister in law's 40th and this place is able to accommodate our party of 20. I called the event's coordinator and was able to make a reservations well in advance. Did I forget to mention, the wines are really good too! Also, it is very family friendly and dog friendly and they have a few mascots of their own sniffing around. I saw a lot of families with their kids as well. The pups love people and would love a nice pet. As I was there, there was a band setting up for live music at 1pm. Be sure to check out their website for special events and showtimes! If you check in here, they will give you a little baggy of golden coins.

Yelp
Winery is very nice and well kept. Views from inside and outside were beautiful, however I was not at all impressed with the wine or the quality of the guidance we were given during our tasting. We went to multiple wineries in the area during our trip and the wine at Iron Hub was by far our least favorite. The service was also the slowest of the day and the white wines were not chilled which was strange because that is a very basic necessity.
google avatar

Robyn B.

Yelp
Loved Iron Hub! We walked in 1-1/2 hour early for our reservation but they had no problem taking us right in. We had been told it had a beautiful view and people weren't kidding. So beautiful to be looking down on the vines. Frankie was our pourer and he had a great sense of humor and answered all my crazy questions...I love to pick folks brains and see why they are doing this and what us their favorite and why...I love to learn. We had the pleasure to meet Beth who is one of the owners and she was extremely hospitable. Our group is not normally white wine drinkers but we all came home with a bottle or two of whites...loved the Esola Zin...and came home with that as well! Melinda was great in answering questions as well...the next time and yes there will be one, we will definitely bring a picnic to enjoy the outdoors. It was a bit chilly when we were there!

Yelp
Yes! Had an awesome experience with our server Chantel. Wonderful job in explaining each wine and generous with our wine tasting. We will be coming back definitely. What an awesome experience! Definitely would recommend.

Yelp
I have been visiting and joining wineries in Amador County for 20 years. I am currently a member of one winery, the Iron Hub. This winery offers a view that can't be beat, a staff that is fabulous, and wines that are superb! There's a large outdoor area for wine tasting and picnicking, as well as a beautiful indoor tasting room with the same view. It's definitely worth a visit. PJ Whitmarsh

Yelp
love the new tasting room, the patio & very much impressed with the views. Melinda was informative and engaging. props to the Zins, the Grenache & the Resolute with special mention to the Sojourn dessert wine. oh and we got two chocolate coins with a Yelp check-in recommending this little slice of Amador
google avatar

Chloe B.

Yelp
Beautiful tasting room. When I checked in on yelp I was giving a cute little baggy of chocolates. We were seated at two tables closed to the vines. We felt welcomed. Wine was coming a little bit slower than we like but it was crowded. Good picture opportunities. Friendly staff.

Eran A.

Yelp
We've been multiple times to Iron Hub Winery! Outstanding wine, always nice and friendly service, welcoming ambiance - great great experience! Nice view from the tasting room and from the balcony!

Yelp
"I'll See You're Wine Tasting And Raise You A Wedding!" SITREP Is it just me, or are weddings held at Wineries just the bees-knees? #Rachelleisms THE SETUP Had a superb Wine-Tasting at Iron Hub Winery this past Saturday: * The 2016 Sémillon, hands down, my favorite - love whites, love more refreshing than earthy - the Sémillon hit all my high-notes at once: lush aromas of ripe melon with a hint of apricot on the finish. No way I was leaving without a couple of bottles of this nectar of the gods! * Super shoutout to the 2014 Grenache as well: spicy aromas, with red cherry and strawberry flavors with balanced tannins. Incredible - grabbed a bottle of this as well. MARRIWAGE. MARRIWAGE MARRIWAGE MARRIWAGE! Except, this is the GOOD kind of marriage! Not the forced "Princess Bride" kind of marriage. And what a treat it was to share in Meredith & Logan's special day as they shared their vowels against a backdrop as breathtaking as the Tuscany countryside. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/iron-hub-winery-plymouth?select=tuWfN01INcDMgWZ-H3yPMg&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w And what a set-up! * Large patio for all wedding festivities https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/iron-hub-winery-plymouth?select=-ewnqbjmY5q7V86SXr3lCw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w * A band stage set-up * Many tables for us during both the ceremony AND the reception * Endless appetizers brought to our tables by talented servers https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/iron-hub-winery-plymouth?select=2_cAzFclfagwXA1ZYSQAFA&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w * Delicious catered meal presented buffet-style inside wine-tasting room * Endless wine pours by more talented servers - "Thank you, Spencer!" https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/iron-hub-winery-plymouth?select=ozkp1EIi7TEIO9amlHT_xw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w * Excellent band music inspiring much dancing on the patio! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/iron-hub-winery-plymouth?select=Iz0QRV89lvWRdc4Xjlbv0Q&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w All in all, an excellent location for a wonderful wedding celebration. THE LOWDOWN Between fantastic wines and an incredible event space, you can't go wrong spending quality time here at Iron Hub Winery!

Yelp
My favorite winery in Amador Co. The views are breathtaking and can't be beat. They have a beautiful tasting room & even better patio with several heaters for a chilly day. The wines are outstanding & Melinda has taken excellent care of us both times we have been there. Her knowledge about the grapes, wines & surrounding area was incredibly interesting & impressive. Thank you for a beautiful start to our wine tasting day!

Dana L.

Yelp
We thought their wine was pretty good. We bought a couple of bottles and they graciously allowed us to picnic on their lovely deck and drink the wine. They even brought out some gorgeous wine glasses for us to use. The view is spectacular and the staff is very friendly. We will be back!
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
Visited on Sippin' on Steiner Day. A club member of other vineyards on Steiner. Have visited this winery before new tasting room. The new on is fabulous. Sweeping view as you walk in. Good tasting wines. Will be back.

Yelp
If you found my review helpful, please like it . Iron Hub Winery continues to be an amazing place for its wine and atmosphere. If you absolutely love wine and like us, collect them, you must visit Iron Hub Winery. We have been to Iron Hub Winery for three times over the course of six years and had no complaints. Our only regret is not having a big wallet to afford their wine club membership and shipments. Their staff are down to earth and the folks really know their wines very well. During this pandemic, they have plenty of seating on their deck with relaxing chairs and tables with a view across their vineyards. Plus, their cute dog - also their wine ambassador - has been adorable to greet guests sitting outside. We would highly recommend Iron Hub Winery to any friend or family member.
google avatar

James D.

Yelp
Amazing wine! The whole flight was tasty. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and polite. Elise took care of us today. She's awesome if you're lucky enough to land on her wait list.

Missy L.

Yelp
WOW!!! This place hit the spot for us. Iron Hub Winery was suggested to us for the views. So we went and MAN we were impressed, from the moment we walked thru the door. Views galore. U can enjoy the view and wines from inside where there is a huge picture window and air conditioning OR go out on the patio and enjoy the sounds of nature. U receive 4 tastings which were all quite yummy, especially their Rosé, it's the first one I've ever liked. It had a lot of flavor. Bonus (like there isn't enough already) they serve charcuterie style snacks!! And they taste amazing. So it's doesn't come out on a charcuterie board but all the components are there; bread, crackers, nuts, spreads, cheese, etc. And the staff are both so sweet. This is my go-to winery now whenever I have out of town guests. PS, we were able to walk in on a Monday without reservations and (well behaved) kids are welcome.
google avatar

Alyssa L.

Yelp
We were camping locally and struggled to find a winery that allowed kids. Always a little nerve racking to bring 3 small children to an adult function but we had THE best experience. Our server was wonderful, and even brought toys out for our kids to play with the rocks. The winery had the most beautiful view and a gorgeous facility. We went on a Sunday and live music was there. Loved everything in our tasting and even left with a bottle. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.
google avatar

Estela V.

Yelp
Yes, the view is beautiful but the experience was not so pleasant. I called to make a reservation trying to be mindful of the pandemic and also to know the dos and dont's, so I included my children in the reservation (was never told I would have to pay $10 dollar "tasting fee" fee for them, they are children. Our waitress kept rushing us to start the tasting and through she kept reminding us we only had the table for 1 1/2 hr, when we asked to purchase a bottle and if we should take it or if we could stay and enjoy, she suddenly did not need the table for 2 hrs. the comments continued, at one point she even asked "are the children ready to go?" We purchased 2 bottles and there was $20 off for 2 adult tastings. However in addition to paying for that my cc was charged $80 for group of tasting fees which included 4 children. I checked in Yelp not knowing they offer $10 off and she had no idea so therefore this was not applied. Overall the experience felt rushed not to mention a rip off, don't say you are a kid friendly place when clearly your staff isn't.
google avatar

Christopher C.

Yelp
Another great day at Iron Hub Winery. Beth and Tom have outdone themselves with the relatively new tasting room and patio over looking the Shanedoah Valley. Classy, excellent wines, and friendly and helpful employees. Will be back for sure and will bring more clients and guests. Plenty of parking, brand new venue, and a great patio for picnics with a breath taking view. Excellent winery with no crowds like Napa. Updating review but maintaining 5-star rating. Exceptional day trip from Sacramento; highly recommend.
google avatar

Laura V.

Yelp
When visiting Shenandoah Valley with my Mom and sister, I happened to get first pick of wineries. I opted for something further away from our hotel so we could work our way back towards it. Little did I know that I was picking one of our favorite spots right off the bat. I commend the owners for picking an amazing spot to locate their tasting room. Atop a hill, you immediately have amazing views of their vineyards, along with others. For those of you who love to take scenic photos, stop here. The vista is amazing. The tasting room takes advantage of this view, with a full wall of dedicated windows looking out on the valleys below. We were greeted immediately upon entering and treated to star shaped pita crisps to cleanse our palate between tastings. I purchased a 2015 Barbera, and they waived the tasting fee. If was fun discussing the various types of wines in the area and where the grapes came from for each of their wines. My only disappointment was that when I mentioned I'd checked in on Yelp and showed one of the employees the offer, she wasn't aware that there was one or what to do. Next time we plan on packing a picnic, so that when we arrive we can buy a bottle and take advantage of their patio.
google avatar

Olga N.

Yelp
Favorite winery in Amador county. Didn't take us long to figure out we want our membership there. Husband likes their whites, I like all their reds. Service is very friendly and know their wines. And the views - just a dream! I am big fan of modern architecture, their building is really excellent. Oh and did I mention I like their wines a lot? :)
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
Iron Hub is quickly becoming one of our favorite spots to spend an afternoon. Good wines and amazing views makes this a great place to spend a couple of hours with friends. A word of warning, they can get extremely busy and I have found it best to make a reservation to insure you get a spot.
google avatar

Kay K.

Yelp
Had a fabulous tasting with Elyse the other day! She was super knowledgeable about the wines, and wove in a lot of stories about the vineyards and other aspects of the winemaking process. You can tell she really enjoys working there, and educating her guests! I tasted through the flight, and she was kind enough to pour the dessert wine for me, and of course I had to add that to the list of wines I needed to take home! Highly recommend visiting this sparkling tasting room, with the killer view!
google avatar

Rachelle R.

Yelp
First time here with 9 other friends. One of them were members of this winery and had reserved a table to wine taste. It's was our second winery stop. They have a nice view but very small sitting area. My friends that were members were very disappointed. It was a busy weekend and they were short staffed. The lady pouring our wine was doing multiple things at the same time. We had a another winery to attend by appt so we had asked her to bring the rest to taste ASAP. We weren't able to enjoy them.
google avatar

Derek N.

Yelp
Wow! What an impressive location, beautiful facility, great people and perfect wine! This a must on your Tour de Amador! Jana was such a pleasure to visit with during the tasting and eventually club members! We will be back on a beautiful sunny day to enjoy a lunch along with the view and wine! THANK YOU!
google avatar

Rochelle R.

Yelp
Loved our visit and the recommendation from another winery to check this place out. We met the owners son and he seemed to know his stuff. A great way to finish off our wine trio along with a bottle for later. We will definitely go back.

Yelp
Beth and Tom are veteran winemakers and vineyard owners coming from the traditions of Lava Cap. Their wine is delicate, fruitful and most of all complex. Tom's style is careful blending and not over-ripening, Thus he brought the grapes and juice of this property to a new level from where it came. Also the granitic terroir of the Steiner Road area is different than the terraces above the American River so he's been able to experiment with new challenges which probably is a great joy to this wonderful winemaking family. If you remember the previous winery at this site, their wine was not blended as much and that is a key difference with how Tom and Team are doing it now, making more complex wine that is also less overpowering to what is common in the Amador area where alcohol and power are so typical and a bit of what sets Iron Hub apart from the rest. If you are a Grenache fan (my favorite foothill grape) then this winery is a must visit. Grenache is a less loved grape that is especially well tuned to the terroirs of El Dorado/Amador. The wine is light, fruitful and finishes beautifully. Another nice twist here is 3 different Zinfandels, all with different character. The white's here are as excellent as the reds. My favorite is the Resolute which is his signature blend and is a wine that will be far different than any other "varietal" you have sitting in your stash. Enjoy the views and patio, but come for the wine.

Yelp
Iron Hub has the best customer service & wonderful friendly staff ever! Melinda & Beth are so welcoming! We enjoy all of their wines especially the Clockspring Zin. Worth a visit & couldn't be happier wine club members for the past 5 years Thank for being our go to destination! Kelly & I enjoy drinking your fabulous wines.

Yelp
Wow! What a hidden gem about 40 minutes away from Sacramento in Amador county! This place is astonishing from the wine to the service. As a Napa lover, Iron Hub definitely goes beyond my expectations. With a brand new tasting room, (it has just been opened for a few months) it is a great place to host weddings or parties of any sort. Also a great place for a girl's day out! Tasting: 5/5 This has by far been the best tasting experience I've had! My favorite was definitely the Sauvignon Blanc or Rose with a sweeter palette. The tasting room was also beautiful with an overview of the winery. Service: 5/5 BEST service ever! Spencer was our host of the day, and he was very attentive, informative, and funny! However, his assistant Smokey definitely stole the 5 stars for this review! He's smoking hot and full of personality. (Smokey = Spencer's dog) You're able to enjoy wine with a cute dog?! Say no more. *** Plenty of wine-dy roads leading up to this winery with a scary fork where it seems like you're about to hit head on with the opposing traffic, but do not turn back. 10/10 will risk my life to have good wine again, so you should too.
google avatar

Colleen R.

Yelp
We typically go to the same wineries when we're up in the area but decided to head down Steiner Rd to see if anything new had popped up when we came across Iron Hub. As we were driving up I knew I had been there before but the name didn't sound familiar. Later found out that this was previously a different winery. As we entered we were warmly greeted by two people behind the counter. They welcomed everyone and we felt right at home. They were busy and we soon found out why. The wine is delicious! As we made our way through the wines it took every ounce of self control to not join the wine club (its worth it here but we already have 6 and need to downsize lol). Although I am familiar with the wine making process I loved that they were all knowledgable and shared the process with the guests in the tasting room. They also talked about the families story of buying the winery last year and the future plans for expansion. And the sales... well they have some amazing deals as well and they change up often. So we walked out with a handful of wines without breaking the bank. We definitely plan on coming back here and can't wait to see their new tasting room. Excited for things to come.

Yelp
We found this place by accident and it was a great fine. The view is the best in Amador wine country and the wines are great. We enjoyed everyone of them. Since finding this place we have been to Iron Hub about probably 4-5 times and in about a week or we will be back for a good friends celebration. What is better then visiting is becoming an inner circle member. It just got a whole lot better. I can't just give a shout out to couple if their staff because all are awesome. But we did have the privilege to meet Beth. It's highly recommend when visiting Amador. Make it your last stop if your doing wine tasting.

Yelp
So much fun. Pourers were wonderful so sweet and knowledgeable about the wines and vines. Great outdoor area for summer seating. Yummy wines! I will 100% visit again

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about this winery! The owner was such a welcoming women. You could tell she was passionate about her wines and the property. The patio had a great view of the vineyard and overlooked much of the wine country. Every wine from the tasting was so good and I will definitely be returning!

Yelp
Of the too-numerous-to-count wineries now populating the Shenandoah Valley, Iron Hub is a welcome newcomer. Not only is the wine incredible, but the sleek tasting room, great service and stunning views of the Sierras will most definitely keep bringing me back. My hat is off to Beth and the former Lava Cap team for creating a vino sipper's paradise. Even if you're not a wine aficionado you'll enjoy the gorgeous property and the tasting room with its modern aesthetic. the building is designed in such a way that you can look out across the rolling foothills toward the Sierras while you sip and socialize. Take this up a notch by bringing some lunch and relaxing on their expansive outdoor patio. If you don't enjoy yourself by this point, you're beyond help. The staff are all as nice as can be. They were very patient with our sarcastic group and even let me peak in the back at the recorcking process where they inject air into the bottle to keep the wine fresh. All in all, veteran winemakers and a stunning property = a recipe for success. Try it out yourself. I dare you not to walk away with a bottle or three.

Yelp
First visit on Saturday - very nice venue with great view and good wine. Didn't feel like a typical low key Amador winery as limos full of partygoers were pulling up constantly. The main reason for docking two starts was our server, a guy who pretty much ignored the mask protocol. He pranced around from table to table with his mask either under his nose or around his neck. As he waxed on about the wine, we weren't paying attention, as we were all so uncomfortable about his proximity and nonchalance about the pandemic.

Yelp
The poor service really affected the service. Having been to Iron Hub before, I know and love the wines and the view is great. Plan on sitting outside since the indoor space is small and crowded. Unfortunately, our server was wildly inattentive. Other servers were giving more detailed and enthusiastic explanations as to the wines; our server seemed like she could barely be bothered. There were LONG waits between pours. We had planned on 90 minutes for our visit and we told our server thirty minutes before we had to leave. We even told her we wanted to buy some wine. Nonetheless, we had to go inside, hunt her down where she was serving other customers, and ask for our check. She asked us to wait a minute; ten minutes later, we had to ask someone else to help us. There are many wineries on Steiner Road; as much as we like the wine and the view, we don't know if we'll go back or can recommend Iron Hub.

Yelp
We love Iron Hub! Great wines, plus a beautiful patio with the BEST views. If you are looking to join a wine club, look no further. My husband and I have been club members for almost a year and it has been a real treat! Can't wait to visit again.

Yelp
Very nice winery with a million dollar view from the windows, and the picnic area. Of all the wineries I've been to, this one has the best access to welcoming owners. There's not a hint of the snobbishness so many owners seem to give off. The staff is top notch. Many of their wines are fantastic, but there are a few duds. But, a few off wines are no reason to not frequent this stunning and inviting winery. Kudos!

Yelp
Nice Sauvignon Blanc and Barbera, very aromatic while taking in a fantastic view of the valley, both indoor and out. Friendly, helpful and patient staff. Nice appetizer options to complement the wine. Can't say enough about the view and overall experience. Among the best of Amador!!! #IronHubWinery

Yelp
Excellent location. Delicious wine (their rosé is back! Yaaaaaay!). And lovely people! The tasting room has breathtaking views and the patio is wonderful. Such a great hangout spot, only made better by the sweetness of Smokey, the winery pup. Love the wine, and adore Smokey!

Yelp
Melinda is great! We had question about a varietal and not only did she answer the question, she brought out books to answer it in more detail. The tasting was great today and loved the Old Vine. Great views! Thanks for an enjoyable and relaxing time.
