Very good experience. Tanya is the best waitress in the world. She is utterly amazing. The service was top notch and the food was amazing too. My spaghetti bolognese was full of different types of extraordinary flavors. Highly recommend the iron skillet and I will be returning again!

I had an incredible experience at this restaurant! Tanya is absolutely amazing; her voice reminds me of Hannah Montana! She really knows how to make the dining experience special and deserves a raise for her outstanding service. And let's not forget about the chef—his culinary skills are top-notch and he should definitely be working at a Michelin star restaurant. Highly recommend this place!

Google
I quite enjoyed my dinner at the Iron Skillet! I met a wonderful young waitress named Tanya. She was very funny and she sounded quite a bit like Hannah Montana. All things considered, I would definitely consider coming back for more. I'd recommend the White Fish Dinner.

Every time we come here it’s 👍🏽 The breakfast was good especially since country breakfasts in the area are hard to come by. We loved the extra touch of the breakfast in skillets. The servers are super friendly and attentive.

I know many people are here from the beta squad video 😭😭😭 and also Tanya is the best Hannah Montana look alike ever

Hey Gorgeous You

Google
Very, very disappointed I had this delivered to me from Favor. The delivery was awesome. She was on time. The food was hot. My sandwich was dry. There was nothing in it but bacon and meat. The bacon was dry. The meat was dry. The bread was dry. I couldn’t even run it down with. It was a sun dry desert, being parched day With this sandwich. Must I say more never again!!!!

Yelp
What was once The Iron Skillet, is now The Black Bear Restaurant on Ackerman & I-10. Service here is always friendly and typically very quick. The food is plentiful with a wide selection of Burgers, Sandwiches, Salads with Sodas. Tea, Beer and Wine to wash it all down. Ambiance is casual with seating at a convenient counter, tables or, booths. Here's a bit of housekeeping though, there are several Handicap parking spots and one dedicated Combat Veteran spot near the entrance. However, tonight a young Girl with a toddler decided they were entitled to the Veteran spot although neither were clearly not Veterans. Please, if you don't qualify, don't think of just yourself - save these spots for those who fight to save our Freedoms.

Yelp
This place is long gone and has been replaced by Black Bear Diner. A wonderful upgrade from the old place. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This was the go to place for truckers needing a great meal after a long day on the road. Excellent food and smiles all around.

Yelp
Traditional Truck stop surroundings, but a great breakfast. Biscuits and gravy were perfect. All served in an iron skillet of course!

Yelp
I have a lot of Skillet choosing diners. Iron skillet is a chain Diner that is often attached to truck stops and you can find it all over the country. We quite like them and if it's 2 in the morning and you want a home-cooked meal you don't have very many options, and it's much better than Denny's or IHOP or some crap like that. It's not a great standard but it's better than average and we appreciate it. This one is in a very cool Petro gas truck stop which is where you usually find the iron skillets these days, and the truck stop itself is very cool as well and well worth the stop if you're heading into or out of San Antonio - especially in the middle of the night.

Yelp
My partner and I, were really hungry and was looking for something really good around 0400 in the morning, and i guess Texas don't have restaurants open early morning. But we found this Iron Skillet at a truck stop near by and it was lucky 24 hours, thank God. We read the reviews and well maybe the Chef tonight was better lol, but the food was amazing, fresh, and it was delicious. Honestly hands down the food was a 5 stars. We got breakfast with gravy, eggs, bacon and stuff, and sweet tea and orange juice. My partner got steak & Eggs and i tried some it was bomb as well. The restaurant was amazing, and everyone was friendly , so i don't understand the reviews this place got, but I'm hoping the management has changed and the chefs have changed since those bad reviews, lol. But if you are our late and want something good stop by this restaurant.

Yelp
Awful. Awful. Awful. This was bad guys. I feel so bad for the professional drivers out there. The food and Buffett are expensive and nothing looks or tasted good. Biggest standout on lunch buffet was corned beef on Monday after St. Patty's day. COME ON!!!! Really??????? And for gods sake. Taste the canned veggies after you dump the can in the pan. I kept thinking just how bad the food was. Won't go back ever again. Total was of money and who likes eating crappy food and then paying for it. Do better or do like your sister Truck stop TA and open franchises and close the restaurant you run. They are building a fuddruckers in the TA New Braunfels.

Yelp
Read a lot of reviews on this place. Maybe they have a new chef or something because the food was actually decent tasting, came in quick and the waitresses were super nice and helpful. I ordered the chicken Alfredo, likes the chicken cuz it was grilled, the sauce was good and my garlic bread was not burnt so I liked that. All our food tasted fresh and warm. I am pregnant right now, so it's hard to find food that won't make my stomach upset. Next time I will come at an hour during the buffet.

Yelp
Soup and salad bar is really good here. The hot bar food however was a different story.....cold food, not up to temperature. Let the kitchen manager know about it, he put it back on the griddle in front of us!!! Ugh. (BBQ Pork) Meatballs were also cold, not up to temperature. The waitress was very nice and friendly. The decor was nice, horses throughout. Overall, would probably sample it before you tell them you want the hot bar....
google avatar

Bob J.

Yelp
If you have an hour to waste while waiting for your cold food, by all means go here. And when you ask for your cold food to be replaced by fresh, hot food, they just bring out the same old crap but reheated. The cook is a damn idiot that will come out of the kitchen to stare you down when you complain about the crappy food he cooked. I wouldn't give this place any stars, but since I have to it goes to our waitress who was very pleasant. Moral of the story...this place sucks!!!
google avatar

Annette H.

Yelp
Attentive waitress. Good food. Skimpy on dessert options. The older waitress was great, the younger dark haired one, not so much. The garlic bread was cooked just right. The salad was good and fresh. Wish you'd serve rolls instead though.

Yelp
The bomb BBQ in Texas . Haven't been in a while but it has always been a favorite of mine i. Austin . And you know Austin already is a good capital .
google avatar

Mitchell H.

Yelp
Can't believe this place isn't shut down, kitchen is filthy. Since it's open 24 hours, seem like each shift believes the next shift will clean. Vents and ceiling fans in dining rooms are also dirty!
google avatar

Cari J.

Yelp
Absolutely 0 stars! We waited just shy of an hour for our food, came out cold, cold, cold. And then to have it taken back and come out microwaved to be "remade" is bullsh*t. When I walked in and checked out the buffet/salad bar I was concerned but willing to give it a try. I should've known when the pineapple was dry and brown, the sweet potatoes dry, the mixed lettuce brown and dying, no ranch dressing available, the chocolate pudding separated and watered, why did I stay?! Never will return.

Yelp
Very POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I took a ride to check out Texas, my first stop was the Iron Skillet, point was to check out truck routes and document a truckers life. This place, the African American attendant was racist! She down right ignored my presence. Not to be visited again for sure... so much for the big state!

Yelp
It is a nice day to say Iron Skillet always on top of the customer with attendance and dedication on their good offers in food and service. I am amazed on the menu all of it is a good healthy choice more than boring Dennys. This is my second time here in San Antonio, attention is great. Busy hours or easy chilly times are good out here I like this Iron Skillet, its just wonders. Food served hot, buffet area is good on the most all veggies and variety. Ambience is great. Let me tell you something. I went to that mexican restaurant place accross the street and its not a real mexican place, they try hard but I find it better Iron Skillet when it comes to descent price and value for what they got in real heslthy food. Good job Iron Skillet!!!!

Yelp
Not a good place to go if you are in a rush. Waited over an hour for food. We were not the only ones. I was able to let a couple know there was going to be at least an hour before they get their food. They thanked me and left. If i had known it would be a wait this long....we would have taken our chances elsewhere. San Antonio restaurants get a 'F' for shitty wait times and shitty service. For this day trip san antonio restaurants can SAD!!!

Kenneth B.

Yelp
With a namesake Iron Skillett one would think everything would be delicious, especially the steak. Last visit.

Yelp
Food is good. If your in the mood for some Comfort food after a long day at work. This is the place to go.
google avatar

Monica R.

Yelp
Was looking for a breakfast spot close to home have passed this place up for 8 years living out here just because it's attached to a truck stop. Took a chance today and it didn't disappoint!! We didn't have the buffet but ordered chicken fried steak and eggs Benedict plate. It was so good and huge portions. Will definitely be back soon!!
google avatar

Yelp
A nice truck stop, but the quality of the food is just average, especially the buffet. But the service is very nice.
google avatar

Dwight H.

Yelp
For a truck stop it rates pretty high, the food is usually the way you order it and the staff are always friendly and in good humor
google avatar

Fernando D.

Yelp
This is by far one of my favorite stops when traveling. The showers and amenities are always clean. The Iron Skillet has a vast array of food to choose from, or just enjoy their buffet, which changes all day. If you stop by, please make sure to say hi to Yvette, the crown jewel of the restaurant.
google avatar

Tony S.

Yelp
The buffet is over price and the quality has gone down, it just like all the other restaurants all they are interested in is to give bad service and the customers are to just talk what they say and put out
google avatar

Jerry H.

Yelp
Great Buffett with plenty of choices open 24 hours Buffett on from 5am till 10pm. Really nice atmosphere.

Case T.

Yelp
I don't agree with the other good reviews. I ate here on Thursday lunch. Buffet didn't look that good. I tried to order a chicken fried steak but they were out. My o my. I had chicken strips instead. Not good. The waitress I had seemed like she didn't care to be there or didn't want to do anything that day. Wish I had gone somewhere else to eat.

Yelp
Salad bar...lettuce n veggies n dressings fresh. Croutons soggy..breads hard and old. .most main courses a no but the brats n saurkraut were very good. Wait staff friendly. Lunch Buffet $9.59 2 star for value of food wouldnt do buffet again
google avatar

Becky M.

Yelp
Yes i dined here yesterday..Linda was my server..she was friendly and very accommodating...the Buffett was nicely arranged and tasty..thank you for the great experience

Laura L.

Yelp
Good Old Fashioned Home Cooking in a warm welcoming atmosphere. Fresh Soup Salad Bar everything time I've come in. The staff /waitress's are always friendly and accommodating. Came here for Thanksgiving Day. The Turkey, Roast Beef and all the trimmings were moist and delicious. Homemade desserts were yummy too.

Yelp
I'm an OTR driver and have been to plenty of iron skillets as it is a regular truck stop for me. Everytime I have come to this particular location for a bite to eat none of the good is prepared correctly. Mashed potatoes always taste either soured or like it has too much pepper in it. I used to order the penne Alfredo a lot but this location overcooks their noodles and it ends up falling to peices, I give it three stars because the wait staff seems decent by memory.
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
ate buffet & food was not that great BUT waitress Linda was AWESOME and would definitely go back IF Linda was workingshe did hover like some wait staff & even though she was ONLY waitress on floor she was still friendly&outgoing...thank u for great service

Yelp
About a month ago or so, they had ribs on the buffet. BIG MEATY RIBS, my goodness I want more a month later. Iron Skillet is always a good experience for my mom and I (locals from Converse). A big thank you to the staff.
