The burnt end Queso is delicious, we had the Pulled pork sandwich and the jalapeno cheese sausage. Both were great! The Mac n cheese was really good and the baked beens were also. We will be returning. Between 3pm-6pm they have a special on some of their apps

Great little barbecue place. Had the pulled pork sandwich and it was m moist and flavorful. It comes with a sauce, onion rings and pickles already on it and they all enhanced the pork. French fries were tasty and well cooked. I will definitely return here!

Very nice interior. Did the two meat/ two sides selection and very much enjoyed the jalapeño cheddar smoked sausage and green cabbage slaw and beans. BBQ sauce was nice, thick and sweet with some twang. We also got the Friday special of meatloaf with a spicy tomato topping which was nice. server allowed substituting collards from green beans. Nice interior, clean bathrooms, drinks kept topped up. Would visit again! Cool building.

THE BEST!!! Today was my first visit to this restaurant, and I had burnt ends, sweet potatoes, brussels, and cornbread - delicious. There is nothing like having good food and exceptional service. My waitress was Mel ***** 5 STAR *****. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu items and offered recommendations. I was already set on returning to the restaurant before even tasting the food because of Mel's attentiveness, kindness, and professionalism. Nowadays service at this caliber is rare and fleeting. If you haven't tried this restaurant - get over there ASAP!!! You won't regret it.

Ordered take out - I expected the price for the plate to be expensive compared to "normal" food as this is BBQ, but I was extremely surprised by how small the portion was for $25! Total as I picked it up myself (didn't use a delivery service or ordering service) was $27+. I would be really upset if I had ordered this delivered. The brisket was good, turkey very bland, baked beans good, slaw - not my favorite as it is a plain mayo and no sweet or sour flavor, just meh. No bread, pickles, or onions were included. Spicy sauce was very good. Overall I felt like this was not a good value as the portion was just too small for that much money. Staff were nice though. Maybe my expectations of what $25 should purchase for food is off. I know I can spend $20 with tip at other establishments (great food but not BBQ) and have two meals. This one I needed to find other food to supplement as I was not full after the small portions.

The smoked brisket was delicious. This place has a good vibe. I was looking for quality food with simple service. This was perfect, nice surprise for a Tuesday night on my work trip.

Made a reservation to celebrate my birthday dinner. I love the way it looks on the inside with how it’s decorated. We started off with the cornbread and the bacon wrapped quail breast, both were incredible. I had the brisket burnt ends dinner with green beans and baked beans. Sides were good and some of the burnt ends were really fatty. My boyfriend ordered the smoked prime rib sandwich with mac n cheese. He said the sandwich was super cheesy but good overall. Mac n cheese was just okay, needed salt and pepper. Since it was my birthday I got a free dessert so I chose the double chocolate bread pudding, perfect to share. We both would order something different if we came back. Service was also amazing.

First timer - had great recommendations. Didn’t live up. Ribs: good, not great. Sides: good but way too small portions. Chili: was touted as awesome but “not bad” Atmosphere: place was maybe half occupied but even with that was WAY too loud. I’m just now learning OKC offerings, but on BBQ will keep looking.

We catered Iron Star for Thanksgiving parties and really enjoyed the quality of meat and sides. Smoked turkey was delicious with lots of flavor, ribs were delicious, mac n cheese primo. Looking forward to going in person soon to experience the live, brick-n-mortar experience.

This was an okay meal with great service. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The best part of the meal was the cornbread that we started with. I had the combo with pulled pork and chopped brisket with sweet potatoes and collard greens. It was all good but that's it. The brisket was too greasy. The pulled pork was tasty. The sweet potatoes were almost au gratin style. We had the double chocolate bread pudding. It was not chocolatey at all. If you've ever had an Entenman' s or Freihofer's breakfast cheese danish-that is what it tasted like, but warmed up. Definitely not worth getting, unless you want a warm cheese danish versus actual bread pudding. I can't recommend going here when there are so many other options locally.

Driving through OKC and found this BBQ joint. I'll say on the food and service, Iron Star Urban BBQ knows how to do it right. The star of the meal for me was the Burnt End Queso -- smoky, cheesy, and addictive enough to be a meal all by itself. If you go, don't skip it. The brisket was spot-on: tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. You can tell it's been given the time and care it deserves. Portions are generous, and the sides round things out the way good BBQ should. The vibe is urban-meets-smokehouse -- modern enough for a night out, but still laid-back enough that you don't feel rushed. Service was quick and friendly, which made the whole experience even better.

I went here for lunch with a friend and was blown away by the special. It was a baked potato that I will never forget. It had the tastiest toppings. They were busy yet everyone was so kind and helpful. I love you can wear a suit or jeans and not feel out of place. Very good atmosphere.

I'm not sure if it was just an off night or what! I wasn't blown away by my experience. The service was pretty lackluster and my salad was made kinda sloppy. It was dressing and pieces of cheese and such all over the brim of the bowl. Almost like someone just threw the stuff in there. The food was decent but definitely not the level of Iron Star I am used to.

We had a nice meal at Iron Star tonight. The meats were smoky and cooked great. My favorites were the smoked turkey and the side of mac and cheese. The Mac was the best thing I had. My husband really enjoyed his brisket. I didn't really care for the bbq sauce because I prefer the sauce to have a hint of sweetness. The service was friendly, and the restaurant had a classic, casual bbq joint feel.

Brisket was 95% all fat. This has been happening more often than not. It's understood that pork and brisket have fat. Fat is what makes it flavorful. However, it's gotten tiresome to order takeout, get home and most of what you paid for has to be tossed in the garbage. Please please retrain your staff on how to properly cut and parcel out your meat. I'm sadly close to done wasting my money here. And it's a shame because we've always loved your food.

While in OKC my wife was craving some BBQ. This is one of the rare instances where YELP reviews have let me down. This appeared as a highly rated spot but the food is just...ok. The smoked turkey was soft, but dry. The pulled pork was ok. The brisket was ok. All of the meats were just warm , but not hot. My wife's ribs were also just ok. Now on to the good. The corn bread was phenomenal! Like I could have eaten 8 of them and been happy. Its soft, warm, with a nice little crunchy outer later. Oh my god! Heaven! The mac and cheese was delicious! The customer service was exceptional. Our waitress found out it was our first time and brought us free deviled eggs and helped us navigate the menu! Great service! Maybe it was because it was new years day and it was super dead. Who knows, but after talking to our uber driver, we found clark crew bbq , with amazingggg food and just as great customer service. Definitely not a place I would return.

Great food and service! We had the pulled pork and brisket combo meal with fries and fancy mac and cheese that we intended to split. They actually prepared it as two separate plates. We were not expecting that and were impressed with their forethought. Would also recommend the banana pudding. Both of the servers that took care of us were named Paige. They were very attentive and friendly. In fact everyone was so friendly and engaging.

We shared the two meat combo and we had the cornbread appetizer. All the food was delicious. Only thing we didn't like was the cornbread crumbled making it difficult to butter and eat. Everything else was very good. As I mentioned above we shared a meal. One of my test is when we share do they make accommodation for us. They passed the test with flying colors (see attached pic) and brought our meal out completely shared on two plates as shown. Ambiance is cool urban. Everything was chill and enjoyable.

I had a great time at the restaurant. The queso with brisket was delicious. The service was polite. The staff were very friendly and professional. I had a great first time coming here. The atmosphere was very clean and well maintained.

The service here is great. They are prompt with the drink orders and attentive. I came here for a work event and we were in a private room in the back left of the buildi. It has a pretty accent wall that's great for photos. Mix got the steak tenderloin medium. When it came out it was definitely not cooked medium. More like medium well. Not much pink inside. It still tasted great but just a little tougher than I like. The sides were Brussels sprouts and carrots. They were so good. I'd eat those again. The prostate salad was also yummy and I would eat it again. It is a cold red potato salad. I didn't taste any sweetness in it like some places make it, so I really liked that. I got the unsweetened tea for my drink. It's hard to mess that up, so of course it was good. For dessert we got the double chocolate bread pudding. It was amazing.

Live little BBQ joint. Service was fast and friendly. Started with the corn bread which was really good. Jalapeños gave it a nice zing. Had the combo with pulled pork and burnt ends. The pork was Luke warm. Had to ask for BBQ sauce, as it was needed. A bit surprised they only had one. The burnt ends were to die for, however, several were all fat and no meat. Yuck. Had the chocolate bread pudding and fried peach pie for dessert. The bread pudding was expertly done, though I'm not a fan of the chocolate in it. The peach pie was like something you get from McDonalds. Not impressed.

What's not to love?! Always have great drinks. Tonight had their old fashion. Food consistently hits the spot! Ask for a side of jalepeno when getting the Mac and cheese. It's amazing!! All of the sides are yummy! The corn bread can't be missed. Order it all and take rhetorical leftovers home!

Customer Service was amazing, food came out quick ( all the food was room temperature besides our bread on both sandwiches, the shredded cheese didn't even melt, the piece of turkey on my sandwich was VERY cold) I was disappointed!

Great atmosphere. Waitresses were all kind, and attentive. Bathrooms were clean. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the side dishes were good. The steak was a little overcooked, but even at that not too tough. The bread pudding was delicious. I would return for the bread pudding.

Fantastic food. We took a 3 week vacation to drive route 66. We stopped here going eastbound and it was so great we also stopped here going westbound back home to Phoenix. We got different meals both times and all the food was outstanding.

My favorite restaurant in OKC. Great veggie selection. Whoever heard of brussel sprouts in a BBQ joint? They were delicious!

Our server (Alex I think) was fabulous. The deviled eggs were average, nothing special, the pimento cheese was tasty. The meat on the meat and cheese board wasn't as tender as one would expect. It certainly wasn't the fall apart type. My house salad was good. The Mac and cheese was powdery tasting. The green beans were bland. The fried okra was very corn mealy which isn't my favorite. It's a large space and we were sat next to another large group so it was extra loud.

I had my reservations with the name, somehow Urban just didn't fit my idea of a good BBQ joint but it had a lot of good reviews so in we went. I wanted to like this place, but you can't always get what you want. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive, making suggestions of which we took. Most of the waitstaff looked like they would fit in better at a feminist march than a bbq place but that isn't a problem, just an observation. Despite the retro mirror wall that looks like something from the Boogie Nights set, It's kind of neat inside, shabby chic. The tables were set really nice and I would love to have those chairs, but after that, things kind of went down hill. The meat portions were very small and the sides dwarfed them. The brisket was just okay, the burnt ends had more sticky sweet on them than a cheap Chinese sweet and sour chicken and the Brussels sprouts were bland and a bit mushed together with the carrots and oddly tasted fishy to me. The sweet potato's were pretty good and the bread pudding, which our waiter surprised us with since it was our first visit, was absolutely delicious. It appears they are trying to break the mold of the classic BBQ restaurant, but they took out the part that everyone loves. I didn't hate the place, but it didn't leave me wanting to come back, ever!

We love this place! Never a bad dish and the service is always top-notch! Sometimes we walk in and promise each other we will skip appetizers and/or dessert, but we can never help ourselves. The food is so good it feels wrong to not enjoy it all. We've been a trillion times and we will be back another trillion.

I took my son here for his 21st birthday and it was perfect. The chips & queso were a tasty start and they bring more chips! The service was fast and attentive. Our drinks stayed full and the food came out at a good pace. We all enjoyed our meal and the wide range of sides. I will give a little warning that the okra is not chopped it is full okra pieces. It was not my fave but I just prefer it to be a little crispier so you might just love it! For sure a great place to try.

Now that's what I'm talking about. I've tried to go to a few places while being here for a week and in 3 days, I picked 3 that were closed. But this place was open and I'm so glad I found it. Nice and romantic lighting and music. I was given a booth right away. The waitress was helpful in helping me select a great meal. Between the St. Louis ribs and the combo? She said i could get the ribs in the combo. Sold! She also said the turkey was nice. I got that with the collards and sweet potatoes. The food came out pretty quick. They threw in a side of potato salad. Thanks for that. The ribs were perfectly cooked along with the turkey. The sides were good and plentiful. Finally, the price was excellent for all that food. The service was great. The food was awesome. The place was really nice. I recommend this place for the food, atmosphere and any other reason you can think of.

Went for happy hour, 3-6pm today, and had a wonderful time! Cora was our server, and she treated us so well and was so fast despite being super busy. Had the fried chicken sandwich, and for $5 during happy hour was an absolute steal! Also had some queso, not pictured, but was so good! I didn't get a drink, but my friend got the pomegranate margarita and loved it! The prices were also amazing! Everything on happy hour was $5, even the drinks. I would definitely recommend this place, it has beautiful rustic vibe and the servers are all so kind.

Food: Ordered the combination plate (Pulled pork/Burnt ends/Fried Okra/Mac and Cheese), Cornbread, as well as Life's a Peach (Peach Bourbon drink). Standouts: The cornbread was fantastic! Warm and dense, and were perfectly complimented by the whipped butter, but especially by the heat of the three pepper jam. Would go back for these alone! The burnt ends had a good mix of juicier pieces and chewier pieces that you have to work to get through. Ambiance: This is a place you go to if you're looking for an "upscale western" look. Lots of wood in the dining area, paired with copper handrails, and metal tables. Service: The service was kind, professional and attentive. Would come back here any day!

LIFE. CHANGING. Okay, so I don't wanna be dramatic... but this banana pudding single-handedly restored my will to live. I took one bite and suddenly my student loans didn't matter. The crippling existential dread? Vanished. My skin cleared, my crops flourished, my third eye opened and whispered, "you've made it, babe." The texture? Imagine if clouds and silk pajamas had a baby and that baby was infused with the tender nostalgia of every good thing that's ever happened to you. The bananas were at peak ripeness, like the universe itself curated them just for this moment. The pudding was so smooth it felt borderline illegal. And the vanilla wafers? Soggy in the EXACT way God intended. Not too mushy, not too firm -- just a soft little hug in dessert form. I swear, if this banana pudding ran for president, I'd vote for it twice. If it asked me to join a cult, I'd pack my bags. 10/10 would risk it all again. Honestly? If you haven't tried it yet... what are you even doing with your life?

Ribs are my number 2 in OKC. Very delicious!!! I love their Cobb salad. It's award winning! I would definitely order again and again. I posted pictures on door dash but I must've deleted them. But they could get my business any day of the week!!! You won't be disappointed. I ordered to have variety and when I'm working I don't like to cook so I ordered like a queen and ate for days. No guys I'm not greedy just innovative and saved on delivery fees by the day!!!

This place was such a great spot to stop. We didn't have a ton of time so we were looking for something quick but sit down. It was a Wednesday evening so it was a perfect selection and very easy to get a table. Service was on point. So attentive and friendly and fun. Paige was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and what would be maybe a few great options for what we were looking for. I loved that they had a daily special as well and it was a close almost selection for myself but I went with a more simple choice so i could get a good opinion on the meats for future visits. The appetizer we went with was the bacon wrapped quail breast. I was a little worried they might be a little spicy for my liking but they weren't and they were incredible. They burst with flavor. The bacon didn't overtake it and the jam was a perfect addition to it. The meats we both got were all full of flavor and so tender. I couldn't have been more impressed with them all. The salads were fresh and the cheese is freshly shredded by them with homemade croutons from their unique cornbread. I went with their ranch and my husband went with their spicy buttermilk. Both were delicious. The spicy buttermilk for sure has a kick! Wow! The beans were not too much BBQ and super good. The onion rings made me the most happy. Seriously. I. LOVE. GREAT. ONION. RINGS. The house barbecue they brought out was sweet and smoky and the best finish with our meals. We can't wait to come again and enjoy the atmosph even more!

The food was okayyy. The ribs didn't really have a taste no pit taste or any flavor without the bbq sauce and the meat shouldn't need the sauce to be good. The baked beans were sweeeeet! The Mac n cheese taste like the frozen Mac n cheese wasn't very good. The corn bread was nice. The queso with the burnt tips were the best things. The service was great! The ambiance was nothing special.

Iron Star remains one of our very favorite restaurants in OKC for decades! We love to eat there often. The food is always great! We love the sides, especially the fried okra and sweet potatoes. They offer a wonderful collection of salads with smoked meats. All the meat items are terrific! Last night I really enjoyed the half barbecued chicken. My husband loves the smoked turkey dinner. Our friends like the beef filet. The way these meats are cooked is really tasty and great! We enjoy going to Iron Star for lunch and dinner. Even though we live in NW OKC by Mercy Health Center, we can get there fast with Kilpatrick Highway and Broadway Extension. Be sure to make a reservation; Iron Star is very popular. We love Iron Star! If you haven't been there, you need to go soon! I bet you will love it too!

What a cool BBQ experience! It's got upscale atmosphere but it's classic, delicious BBQ. And the prices are very reasonable. We came for a birthday dinner and received a free dessert! Seriously this place is laid back but slightly upscale and a cool take on BBQ.

The Brussels sprouts were so amazing! The ribs were great but the Brussels sprouts and carrots were actually so so good. The corn pudding was good too but it was more like a creamy jalepeno street corn/elotes to me. Our server, Aiden, was friendly, attentive and professional. All food served quickly and drink refills were timely. I actually have fond memories of this place back when it was Painted Desert so it's a nostalgic place to me, glad to see Iron star has done so well, it seems like it's been there a really long time now! It's always nice to support a local business.

We stopped here for a late Sunday afternoon lunch, ordering the smokestack nachos and the weekend burnt ends special with a side of fried okra. A refillable diet coke completed the order ($40.19 plus tip). While service left something to be desired, the food was spot on. The nachos are superb, easily one of the best such dishes in 'cue circles nationwide. And the serving is enormous. There is more than enough here for two people to share as a meal. The burnt ends were nicely done KC style, and the fried okra a treat simply because of the way it was served. Seating here is limited, so off-peak hours is a good option.

Honestly, this place isn't what it used to be. The food was tasteless and service was rushed. Things were being cleared from the table without asking us, they sat us at a table that was set for 8 even though we had a reservation for 12 and their solution was to 3 people on a two-top. Won't be returning.

Honestly one of my favorite places I've got to try in the city! The food, the service, and the ambiance were amazing! Starting off I got the combo where you get 2 meats and 2 sides which was $22 dollars such a great price for everything you get! For my meats I got the ribs and the burnt ends which were both sooooo good! For my sides I got the okra and the Mac n cheese, literally some of the best okra I've ever get had (I was definitely surprised to see the okra come out whole!) I loved that! The Mac n cheese was some of the best I've ever had. My partner got the pulled pork sandwich! They loved it! Both dishes were so good! I also wanna note that the service was amazing here! Our server was very attentive and kind! The food also came out fast! 10/10 will definitely be coming back!!! Thank you! :)

The portions are small. I had salmon.It was not season to my liking. The service was good.

Stopped by after doing some Saturday shopping nearby. The aesthetic is nice but the restaurant was too dark inside for it being the middle of a Saturday afternoon. Service was fantastic (thanks Tatyana!). Food was not bad. I do think for the price the kids meal was a fantastic deal. The Pick 2 plates my fiance and I ordered both felt a little light than what I am used to. We did move from TX tho and the servings were always hardy there. So maybe I am biased. The ribs were also skinny but all of the meats had a great smokey flavoring to them. Sides were great...loved the collard greens!

Half of the tables were open and we take 15 minutes to eat but they said without reservations would take 45-60 minutes to be seated.

First time at iron star. This is an older restaurant but still nice on the inside. I went for birthday lunch with co workers and one of the highlights was definitely the quail eggs! For my main course I got a combo plate with burnt ends and pulled pork. I wasn't blown away by the burnt ends or the Brussel sprouts which were a bit too well done for me. At the end of the meal we had bread pudding and it might have been one of the best I've had in okc!

BBQ is a dime a dozen in places like OKC, but few are as well reviewed or as popular as Iron Star. As a must-visit establishment, I had made my way here a few years ago and was impressed to make it a regular haunt ever since. While I'd be hard pressed to consider them as the de-facto "best" barbeque option in the city, they certainly will always be mentioned as one of the top choices. As a venue, it's a nice open space. It looks bigger from the outside and I can only assume that on weekends there would be a wait. Parking is limited to a few spots out front and ideally a group no more than 6 folks would be perfect here. There is a nice long bar out front, which is ideal for solo dining or drinks with the bartender while watching whatever's on TV. The food has been a hit and a miss. For misses, it's usually been for takeout, where I've found a lot of the meats to be on the drier side. When in doubt, eat in house if at all possible. When they're on though, they're great. That moist brisket is very tasty and has a hint of sweetness from the cured brown sugar. The fried chicken is a bit underrated, the prime rib is a huge thumbs up and when they have game meats available (especially quail), it's worth giving it a shot. A lot of folks rave about the ribs, but I've been underwhelmed each time. For the sides, I've been a fan of their corn pudding and potato salad. The mac and cheese is solid, despite how plain it looks. I would never sleep on their fried okra, their string beans, or say no to that bread pudding dessert. Lastly, the service is usually up to par, but on some occasions I've walked away super disappointed. Either it was them being slow or just not that hospitable. I understand that the nights get busy and not everyone can get the same TLC, but at the price point of which folks pay for BBQ (which is pretty spendy here), sometimes service can be the benchmark of success.

Went with a large group for a retirement party. Not always easy to get food out to everyone at the same time but they did a great job. I ordered brisket. I like mine very lean and they delivered with a lean really well cooked brisket. We tried most apps and get were good. Only item I heard negative comments about were the burnt ends.

Enjoyed some delicious bbq on a work conference. The brisket was incredibly tender and juicy. The flavor, by itself was just okay. The BBQ saved it and made the brisket outstanding. The beans and the Mac were delicious, as was the corn bread with butter and honey. Enjoyed a pint of Anthem Golden One, which seems like a blonde ale. Absolutely perfect beer. The ambiance was great, as was the service. The food was out in about a minute and a half. The servers were very friendly. I'd definitely eat here again.

Made reservations on Easter Sunday. Not your typical BBQ so if you are expecting that, please look elsewhere. Portions were perfectly sized (might be a pro or con depending on your hunger). Ordered the charred pimento cheese app. The bread/toast is the only thing that is charred, but it was very good. The pearl onions, jalapenos, and olives are all pickled. Also ordered the chopped brisket sandwich with a side of red bliss potato salad, both of which were excellent and the BBQ sauce was delicious! Tried their cranberry mule cocktail with less ginger beer and it just tasted like a cranberry vodka sparkler. Bill came out to 84 bucks for two which I consider pretty pricey but we had two cocktails each at 9.00 a piece. If you're on a budget or not wanting to spend a whole lot, order just the entrees and non alcoholic drinks or water, and maybe an app and that should cost you around 40 bucks total. Wait staff was friendly but very efficient. The con at this place is the parking. Limited on site parking so we parked on a side street (just pay attention to the no parking signs around). Glad I gave this a try!

I've been before but this night met my friend to catch up before the ice storm hit. We were able to get a reservation pretty easily so that was nice. She was already seated when I walked in. The server came over and took my drink order and we ordered cornbread as well. The front section was not crowded but I did notice a bus parked outside. The server passed me my drink from over the railing. Umm what? What happened to coming around to my actual table and serving me? My friend and I ordered the cornbread as an appetizer and it was great. Never knew I needed to add salsa verde to my cornbread but it works. I ordered the meat combo with chicken and ribs, whole fried okra and Mac and cheese as well as a drink. My bestie got the prime rib, Mac and cheese and collard greens. All of our food was amazing. Just as always. I had a ton of food and took home half of it for my husband. Outside of some slow service and my waiter handing me my drink from the bar not once but twice the food and experience was good for a Monday night. I recommend.

Too much fat on brisket, service was great with their not being many people there at the time I went.

DAMN, That was Good! Have to give Sam all the credit, our server who walked in with us and served us, GREAT SERVICE! He gave great tip all the way through, first tip switching the burt-end in for the turkey in the club sandwich. Second, Fried Pickles and Bacon wrap Quail. Third, the Palmagranet Margareta. Third, wait for it, lightly fried Peach pie! Great job. And for that matter all who served food when it was ready, very kind staff. My wife's comment was spot on, "so Jealous of the neighbors being able to just walk here" Find Iron Star on the map and stop, you will understand. We all split Baby Back Ribs - Awesome Club sandwich with Brisket n Burnt-Ends, Awesome Fried Pickles - Awesome BACON RAPPED QUAIL -Fantastic

Great service and food consistently. The best smoked Turkey. Definitely have the fried okra too.
