10 Best Wineries to Visit in California’s Gold Country | Eater SF

"A visit to Ironstone Vineyards goes way past wine tastings, although there’s plenty of that to be done here. Along with trying Ironstone’s selection of wines, there’s also a summer concert series at the vineyard’s amphitheater, an annual wine and art festival, an onsite bistro, gardens to stroll, and even a museum dedicated to the area’s gold mining history." - Dianne de Guzman

Always a super beautiful place..but the workers are not ever very welcoming and friendly. Just basically going for the views now. The girls at the Deli act like you are bothering them if you ask them any questions. It has happened the last two times. So we definitely didn't eat there. The flowers and vegetation are incredible during spring time and we do love it. Gift shop wasn't open on Saturday, so we weren't sure what that was about. There are paths and trails and elevators, so it is a good place to go with wheelchairs too.

I went to a winery for the first time and it was amazing, atleast they let people in who don't drink wine and I really appreciate that unlike wineries in Napa. The place is huge and amazing, very beautiful ❤️ The way they have designed it and maintained it is commendable. I took a tour too and the lady who gave us the tour was very nice and friendly. I can spend my whole day at this place. This place also host car shows n musical concerts from time to time. It's a must visit.

Google
Was super surprised by the sheer size and scale of this place! Was expecting a tasting room with a cute flowery outdoor area but it was not that. I was warmly welcomed and told about the place then got a plastic cup to walk around with and got to explore the beautiful grounds. Will hopefully be back for live music!

Google
I can’t say enough kind words about the venue and staff at Ironstone. My husband and I got married at the winery in May, and everyone went above and beyond to make our day special. Especially Christina, who helped organize and facilitate our ceremony and reception.

Google
A wonderful wine tasting experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The tasting room is beautiful and tastefully decorated but extremely functional. I started with the Chardonnay Classic *****, followed by a Chenin Blanc ***, followed by Obsession Symphony *****, then the 2021 Pinot Noir ****, and three Cabernet Sauvignons, each better than the last. The best was the Kramer Ranch Cabernet. Not inexpensive, but worth every dollar. This visit was part of the Spring Wine Weekend which allows you taste wines from 20 wineries for a $65 weekend ticket or $55 for a single day ticket. Unbelievable. 👍👍❤️ I returned in 2025 for the Estate Tour as part of the Spring Wine Weekend. A three hour tour with Buck Reed. He is so knowledgeable and provided a wonderful tour of the entire winery. Five plus stars. 🙏

Google
Had a great tasting with Jeff in the tasting room, and then took a tour with Conrad all over the property… What a wealth of information we received - such a spectacular property and the story of the Family that started It is amazing. Great wines as well. we’re taking a bunch Home! Definitely, I must see in this beautiful area, as well as the Great concerts They have at the amphitheater.

Google
Amazing winery and history museum. It's easy to forget how much history california has. Don't forget to visit the 45 lb gold nugget but theres a ton of fossils as well that were in great shape. The winery itself has a ton of events. Food. Chilled ready to drink wines. They hold concerts and holiday events I had no idea so much was going on in one spot. The wine tasting was great we had thorough explanations of everything and the wines were all really good. Had no idea the obsession fruit wines were part of the same winery. Really great place to hang out and relax.

Mark Young

Google
What an absolutely magic and blessed property. The wine is amazing. The grounds are beyond description. So peaceful and enjoyable. Their flowers in the half wine barrels are just gorgeous! They had Cabernet infused chocolate sauce and a chardonnay infused caramel sauce. Both are completely sinful, yet heavenly.

Yelp
Lovely wines in a relaxed outdoor atmosphere. Especially enjoyed the old vine Zinfandel. plenty of food options and seating for groups, definitely would stop by again

Yelp
If you're headed up to Murphys, you have to stop in at Ironstone Vineyards, it's kind of a destination winery. The wines: Whether you're having whites or reds, you won't be disappointed. We went for the reds and we ended up buying three bottles. My favorites were the Cab Franc and Petite Syrah. The port also was very good, however on the expensive side. The property: In the summer Ironstone host concerts, which is pretty cool, when you can drink wine and enjoy live concerts. They also have their very own museum, featuring the world's largest Gold Crystalline Specimen in the world. The museum also hosts some petrified trees and animals as well as historical mining memorabilia.

Yelp
This is the perfect spot to witness the most beautiful daffodils! The town of Murphys is such a cool place, and this winery is a must-see! Before you even enter the winery, you can see daffodils lining the roadside this time of year. It's something I appreciate doing yearly, if possible! This year the daffodils do not disappoint! Take a drive and check these beauties out for yourself!!

Yelp
Had a fabulous lunch today at Ironstones Gold leaf bistro. I highly recommend the food, it was delicious the service was fabulous. The atmosphere was cozy. The tasting room was packed and our food was served quickly. Many customers in the tasting room, asked us where we got the food and were happy to find out it was made on site. Have already, and will continue to recommend them to all of my friends

Yelp
Today me and an old friend (both of us female) went for wine tasting. Kathy was serving us at the tasting bar. Her demeanor toward us was underwhelming to say the least compared to her interactions with the couples and families to our right and left of us! I found her comments rude and unwarranted.
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
We are now wine club members. This place is so beautiful to walk around and everyone is so friendly and helpful. The wine tasting was busy and even with being busy each wine bar attendants were so polite and not rushing us out. Next time here we are also going to try the food and hopefully one of their outdoor events.

Mark H.

Yelp
This place is beautiful but sadly their wines are below average. Employees were all great except for a real jersey of a security guard with some sort of wierd power trip. In summary the facility is a 10 and the wines are not that great. Yelp spell check...I typed in jerk for description of security guard.

Mari A.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place. My friend and I went wine tasting for the first time here, and we enjoyed ourselves. The people pouring were great, and we loved walking around the winery.

Yelp
I've been going to Ironstone for as long as I can remember. I've hand fired the fireworks with Devastating Pyrotecnics. I've seen Hank Jr, Moonshine Bandits, and Jewel, here to name a few. But on our last visit here to watch the fireworks, it was 106°, and when I told Pati G. that the soda fountain was out of ice, her snarky response was "ya I'm not surprised." I responded with "your not going to fill it?" She rudely replied "no". On such a hot day when heat exhaustion and even heat stroke could be an issue with their guests, keeping them cool and hydrated should have been a priority...especially at a winery where people are drinking in the sun. What a disappointment her attitude was. There's obviously an ice machine for the slushy wine, but not for overheated paying guests. BTW, just to get in to the fireworks show was $40 for the two of us. At the tasting room where Pati G. was working, I spent over $60 on drinks, and another $100 on food and drinks at the vendors outside. So Patti G., my girlfriend had heat exhaustion and I was going to wrap her some ice in my cooling towel, but THANKS ANYWAYS WONT BE RETURNING

Yelp
This is a beautiful vineyard in the heart of Murphys! On my trip I went to three wine tasting vineyards and I have to say this is one of the best wine tastings I've had. Can't it beat for $10. The tasting fee is waived if you buy a bottle. Be sure to make a reservation. I came here on a Sunday hoping to do a tasting but was turned away because they didn't have anymore reservations available. I had to come back the same week for their wine tasting since the place was so nice! I got to try 5 wines in the wine tasting, plus 3 bonus rounds of their more fruity wine. The gentleman who was serving us the wine was nice and friendly. The tasting is an indoor, standup only tasting. I wish we could be seated, though. Overall a great place to try wines and enjoy the sights. My friends and I bought 1-2 bottles of wine each.

Yelp
This is a destination winery. Even if you don't drink, you must see the beautiful landscaped grounds and stunning lodge type tasting room. Lot's of little goodies to look at and purchase. Great prices $10 - 5 pours. Bar was packed. Next time I'm in Murphy, I shall give their wines a try. Do take a minute to "really take in" the lodge type tasting room. It's mesmerizing. Oh and check out the museum store for more on the history as well as the "Largest specimen of gold in the world". It's quite spectacular.

Yelp
Enjoyed a wonderful elevated tasting this afternoon. Candy was an amazing tour guide. It was great to spend some time outdoors enjoying the wine and food pairings. Highly recommend this special treat if you want to get away from the crowds at the tasting bar.

Vincent M.

Yelp
The ambience and the food of this winery is amazing. You're going to get what you get on the wine side. This is not a Napa wine, or should it be ever compared to them but still a great time worth the visit

Yelp
As a close relative of the Kautz family. We absolutely love visiting Ironstone. The scenery is second to none & their staff is always first class. My wife & I also had our engagement party here & it was perfect! This location will forever be a mainstay visit for my family.

Yelp
I attended a music concert and talk about poor organization. No staff around to assist in the cluster . People everywhere and staffing missing in action. I'm sure this isn't the first event or last. Didn't expect a mess. Seats were on top of each other, so you made aquanauts just because. Leaving the venue was not any better.
google avatar

Natalie J.

Yelp
My first Ironstone concert, Patti Labelle. I was lost on where to go and how to get there with my 83 year old parents. Katelynn in the wine tasting room behind the bar answered all of my questions in plain English! I was able to relax with a glass of wine with the folks before the show. Shout out to Katelynn! Everyone there was nice also.

Yelp
What a beautiful setting to enjoy a variety of wines. The reserve reds are not to be missed like the cab franc and old vine zins. Really loved the staff who were friendly and welcoming.

Yelp
Such a beautiful winery. Very well kept with lots to see. They had a little museum/shop with tons of crystals on display with a history of specimens. A huge gold piece in their vault with other historical items. The inside of the wine tasting room is clean with gorgeous chandeliers. Definitely should swing by here!!!

Yelp
This is one of our favorite regular spots to grab wine & picnic, play & walk around with the kids( & w/out) Owners & staff are always amazing. Landscaping/Grounds & events are extraordinary. Restaurant hours are sporadic depending on events soo call 1st. We have had some great meals here. The silver label reserve Tempranillo is a definite buy. I hope I get back that big gold nugget I lent them someday.

Yelp
Beautiful, large winery! This is a little drive out of the immediate Murphys area. You get to pass through some farm land, down a curvy road, onto their property. Definitely plan ahead for this one. If you want to do a tasting they fill up fast. We didn't realize when we made the trip out, but luckily they have reasonably priced flights at the deli. You can also dine in at the restaurant if you plan in advanced. It is a little hectic in the building because they have the deli, the restaurant, and tastings all going on at once. The ambiance is really nice. I loved the Christmas decorations that they had up. Unfortunately because we were not able to dine in or do the tasting we couldn't sit inside. We had to sit outside on the deck where it was much colder. I got the obsession flight and loved the symphony the most! On the other side of the building they have a cool museum and a jewelry store. It's a nice place to explore after you had a couple of drinks.

Yelp
An absolutely must visit if you are in the Murphy or Arnold area. It's also a short road trip from Sacramento. This property is amazing Well manicured and picturesque. They also have events there ... so go ahead and plan a visit and sign up as a member... there will be no regrets

Yelp
The wines here are not so great. But if you are here for the scenic ground, doesn't hurt to stop by as it's not too far from downtown Murphys. Tasting was all stand up when we went, and since we did a long hike beforehand, it was a bit uncomfortable. Workers were super friendly, although. We didn't find the wine too interesting. Maybe the hot whether in Murphys makes the grapes more ripe and therefore more full bodied and strong? They were a bit too single profiled also. Not impressed. Pizza is fresh from the oven but it was just ok. Overall a landmark to stop by because the ground is beautiful.

Yelp
Phenomenal! We have been wine club members for a while but had never eaten here until the pandemic hit. We wanted to visit this beautiful winery and the only way to do it was to have a meal. We went in with no idea what to expect. We were blown away by the taste and quality of offerings. It was so good that we made reservations for brunch a couple of weeks later. That was maybe even a little better than the lunch, but that might be the bottomless mimosas talking...
google avatar

Yelp
Had a great time here! My one suggestion is to MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR THE WINE TASTING BEFORE COMING!! We showed up without reservations and had to wait an hour to get the tasting (totally our fault). Anyways, the service was great! The lady who served us knew what she was doing. She asked us preference questions to make sure that we would like the wines we liked! She even let us taste test two of the reserves. Also the wines are actually pretty cheap & the tasting was only $6!! I ended up buying a bottle of the Chenin Blanc which is super delicious! I would say the only downfall is that you have to stand at a table during your tasting (I'm just lazy). But I definitely recommend coming here, but with reservations!!
google avatar

Carlos G.

Yelp
Mostly for me a great concert venue ...there are some good shows here especially for the California Reggae scene ...huge lawn area where you can bring your beach chairs and a blanket and enjoy the show...there are food, beer and wine vendors here for the shows ..that said the lines will have you in them wayyy too long as well as the bathroom lines...you can easily miss a set just grabbing food, etc. So arrive early and stock up ...Another option would be to tailgate in their main lot which is allowed during shows...the wine is just okay here IMO. For me the red blend is probably the better choice here. The grounds are very nice...trees,green grass and plants cover the entire property. Definitely worth catching a concert here!

Yelp
This is an updated review to now include two visits that I have made to the bistro at Ironstone. They have a chef now and there is incredible food coming from the kitchen. Reservations are required but there is a good amount of outdoor, COVID-correct seating. The menu is short (which is a good thing!) and very appropriate. On one occasion, we had lunch here. I made an exception to my vegetarian choices as I wanted to try everything at the table. The fish tacos were great. The burger, incredible. Pizza, outstanding. I forget what else was ordered by my party of 5 on this occasion, but it was all great. The next dining occasion was for brunch and with bottomless mimosas. Turns out, they have bellinis, too! And you can mix and match off of the drink menu throughout your visit. The brunch menu (additional to the usual lunch menu) has some unique offerings. I had what I would call a quiche, but I'm pretty sure it had a different name on the menu. One of my party had the omelet. It was all great. So this place is still a phenomenal winery, too. In the two visits mentioned above, I left with a combined three cases of wine. So don't just come from the food. Make sure you try the wine, too.

Yelp
Such a beautiful winery! We visited here for the first time and were very impressed! Such a cool tasting room that is staffed by very friendly people along with wonderful wines! The grounds here are stunning and would be a great place to have a wedding or see one of the concerts they have scheduled. They also turn the tasting room into a restaurant at night which looks like it would be a lovely place to have dinner. Be aware that their deli has closed but they do offer pre packaged sandwiches and snacks for purchase. Also a fun place to do a little shopping. They have all kinds of interesting finds in the tasting room as well as an adjacent jewelry store. This is a great place to stop, grab a glass of their delicious wines and stroll their beautiful grounds. We will definitely make this a regular stop on our annual trip to Murphys.

Yelp
I decided some wine tasting needed to happen after visiting the Moaning Caverns and doing some hiking. Ironstone got great reviews so I gave it a go and was not disappointed! Arriving on a Monday around 3:30, I figured they must be doing something right since there were more than a few cars in the parking lot. The property is gorgeous with potted and planted flowers everywhere. The tasting room is quite large and I was greeting immediately by a very welcoming woman (unfortunately I didnt get her name). The tasting for 5 wines was $5, waved if you buy a bottle. I tried their reds and really liked the Old Vine Zinfandel which had a jammie appeal I go for. I decided to buy a bottle for $14. They have a little deli with a nice selection of salads, soups and sandwiches to choose from. I went with the steak sandwich and a side spinach with caesar dressing. I sat out on the patio and soaked up the nice views and sunshine. The food was really good, especially the caesar dressing (oh my)!! I really enjoyed this winery and was a nice ending to an active day. I highly recommend!!

Yelp
This is a wonderful winery just outside Murphys, CA. The grounds are beautiful - kudos to their gardeners. I loved the wine barrels filled with flowers. It's actually quite a layout, with the seven-story building, an amphitheater, a small convention center, a wine cave, deli, restaurant, and a small no-charge Gold Country museum. Having said that, it manages to give a fairly intimate feel, for which I credit the staff (esp Patti) who made us feel special. We made reservations, for a Saturday, and I'm glad we did, becasue it seemed like everyone had the same idea. At $6 for a tasting (it says choose 5, but I'm sure she poured us more than that), white and red wines under $20 (including the Reserve Viognier and Chardonnay), and Reserve reds under $50 you cannot beat it. And we both liked the majority of what we tasted.

Meryial K.

Yelp
We came to this place specifically to buy their dark Cabernet chocolate, which is delicious. We were in a hurry and unfortunately didn't get to do some wine tasting, but the winery is gorgeous. We will definitely be back for wine tasting and their chocolate bar!!

Richard H.

Yelp
I had a really good time the staff and customer service was so nice. How ever I would think it will be nice to have some where to sit down while wine tasting at least some barstools.
google avatar

James Q.

Yelp
This is a beautiful venue for a wedding or other large public gathering. It's gorgeous with beautiful gardens and flower displays. In addition to outdoor seating similar to an amphitheater for things like weddings or other public gatherings, they offer wine tasting, a cafe and a museum that are really nicely done. The grounds and the buildings are nicely integrated into the grand plan and nothing looks out of place. It's also a superb place to just hang out and do some active people watching! :) The museum is worth seeing. There is a lot of local history displayed along with geological artifacts and history from the gold rush days. There is also a huge chunck of crystallized gold - the largest nugget of its kind in the world. Unfortunately, the display is so popular and busy, I couldn't get a good, clear photo of it. Sorry. It's well worth a visit if you're in the area and there's no charge for admission. Jim

Yelp
I really love this winery! Both times I've been here I've been helped by Patti and she's wonderful. The grounds are beautiful, grabbing some wine and walking around the pond is such a nice and relaxing experience! The wine is yummy and reasonably priced. They also offer wrapped sandwiches so you could even enjoy a picnic. Must go when in Murphy's!

Yelp
Ironstone Vineyards is definitely an 'Iron chef' serving 'liquid gold' in the Sierra Foothills of California. If educated and retained correctly on an impromptu wine tasting on a rainy day in the Murphy, CA area, I happened to stroll into the 18th largest vinyard & distributor of wines nationwide. Not to mention having some bragging rights on shipping internationally to fine dining locals that perfectly pair their labels. Alright, so it's no accident that a foodie like myself strolled into a location like this. I did goal myself to do some wine tasting here on my first trip to CA, and of course booked a resort location accordingly. In addition to then realizing on my drive in, that I was going to have many to choose from. It's like driving out east on Long Island, NY to go vineyard hopping to wine taste! So, I did the smart thing and tried to get the advice on which one(s) were the best from the locals. Of course the first response was, "their all great", but I know better and needed more than that to go on. I finally got an honest lead to Ironstone Vineyards, did a touch of research and agreed this would be a great place to start. Very happy I followed my gut and gave them a try, as my tastebuds were dancing with each sip. Walked into a practically empty serving area, that was very warm, cozy and inviting. Glanced at the tasting menu, reading all about the reds and whites they had to offer. Initially was going to do a mix, as it suggested to choose 5 selections for $5 (per person), but then decided that they had more interesting options in both sections worthy of trying. So like any good foodie that loves to pair a good wine with any meal, I doubled down in the hopes that I could personally debunk a few of my mouth myths. It was my lucky day as the kind fella named Buck, behind the bar was willing to give me the new education I was seeking. He really did listen to my stated likes and dislikes, and gave genuine feedback on what the Lodi Grape Growers had to offer across their White and Black labels. Needless to say there were many that I surprised myself in truly liking. So do what every foodie that enjoys a good wine does best...buy some and have it shipped directly to the home, well if you need to fly back like me. Otherwise, snatched a few bottles to bring home locally. I encourage everyone to seek out this location whether it be for a quality glass/bottle of wine, a concert in their amphitheatre, or host an event on their beautifully maintained grounds. Can't wait to get back home and share my 'gold' findings from this first CA trip with family and friends. My dinner club members are in for a treat this holiday season! Note: As a Yelper know that this location does offer 10% off Tasting Room Purchases. For any/all others 20% off case purchases (25% if you become a wine club member).

Kathleen O.

Yelp
If I could rate this as a 0 that is what it would be. Well I will not be going to another concert at Ironstone ever again. We left 15 minutes after Hank Willams Jr Started playing. Young people being disrespectful little punks. Tons of People in the walk ways practically fucking each other with their clothes on. Get a room for Peet's sakes. I did not pay to see that. Not to mention all the other people standing in the walk ways blocking everyone's way and view. That is a major fire evacuation hazard. My bottled water that I bought was 4.00 had no label and tasted like awful tap water. I did not even drink it because it was that bad. I'd rather drink water out of the river than to drink that. My husband asked politely several times for these young punk kids to please sit down so everyone can enjoy the concert or if you want to stand can you please move over a bit as we can't even see the screen. Then that little wanna be cowboy got into my husband face so my husband got in his face. Then the girl that kid was with probably not even 21 was drinking wine and got into my face. (Lots of young kids teenagers were drinking. Probably the alcohol was being bought by an adult and then they gave it to them. ATF should be notified for that.) I told her to back the fuck up little girl and she did. Needless to say the people were with left. As we were leaving so we're a bunch of other people. My husband heard an elderly man with a cane complaining to the cops about how disrespectful people were even being to him. We told the cops too and they said we having been hearing this a lot already. So obviously it is a problem. There must have been 50 cars leaving the same time we were. All for the same reason because we talked to a few of them. . They also have a rule about chairs when sitting in the lawn section they can only be so high. Some were bigger than my camping chairs. There should be a rule that everyone needs to be sitting when the concert starts so everyone can relax and enjoy the concert. We just wanted to have a good time enjoying great music. If you want to get up and dance there should be a section for standing and dancing. We've went to Gretchen Wilson, Reba an Brently Gilbert here before and never had an issue like this. This was a huge disappointment. Plus you are not supposed to park Six Mile Rd and there were cars everywhere. So this tells my they over sold the show since they ran out of parking. If I could give anyone a tip save your money and find out where the person you want to see is playing and go there instead. I will be telling everyone I know about this experience. I feel we should get our 4 tickets refund. worst venue I have ever been to. I won't make that mistake again.

Sela O.

Yelp
We went and were just waiting and waiting to be helped to have a simple wine tasting. No one acknowledged us and we ended up leaving. Such a disappointment.

Yelp
We came here looking for the largest gold nugget, and found an interesting museum/store and beautiful grounds! My son said "I wish this room was mine!" as he walked through the safe/room that the nugget is in because it contained not only other gold treasures, but things like a dinosaur egg. On a random weekday with no concert or other event going on, we found abundant parking in the lot in front of the tasting room and store.

Yelp
Amazing Ambiance. Great seats in any part of the house for a concert. Lines go quickly when they seam long

Yelp
This was our first visit for 6 members of our group of 8. First off, since they don't allow outside food we bought food from the deli for lunch, which was disappointing. The food was okay, poor selection and slow service due to competition from a Quilters show. 2nd, our wine tasting experience was a mix, Patty, was very knowledgeable and gracious but since they were understaffed, the tasting took quite a while (yes, we had a reservation). The grounds are gorgeous! We did the tour and it was worth the time and the 10 bucks.

Yelp
What a beautiful venue! We stayed in Murphys over the 4th of July weekend to get away from the fireworks with my dogs. Having never been here before, my son & I took the Ironstone tour, which was wonderfully narrated by Conrad. He knows all the history of the owners and made it very interesting. The grounds are gorgeous, even in the heat of summer, with trees of many colors mixed together, along side babbling brooks and lovely green grass. The gift shop and tasting area were decorated for the 4th, and outside were beautiful seasonal flowers. They also have a museum, which has an eclectic collection of historical items gathered by the owner. We did wine tasting after our tour and ended up buying several bottles. Chesney, the server, was fun to talk with. We returned the next day to spend more time at the museum and gift/jewelry shop.

Avital A.

Yelp
Fantastic, fantastic venue. Our server was GREAT and offered us different options to taste when it was obvious the wines on the tasting menu weren't doing it for us. 5 stars for the service, but only 3 for the wines unfortunately.

Yelp
This is a really cool winery to visit. The owners have a collection of pretty amazing things. In addition to the winery and tasting area, they have concerts on Wednesdays, an organ, and a small museum and a jewelry shop. The wine tasting is $5 for 5 wines that you can select. If you happen to come on a Thursday, they might have extra bottles that are already open that you can try. You choose form a list of about 10, 5 whites and 5 reds. If you buy a bottle, the tasting is waived. Oh and bottles are like $10-$20..... super affordable. I really liked the obsession symphony, which is a juicy white. It's like juice. Lol. Apparently, it's their best seller. They offer tours, which are one hour long and take you through the wine caves, through the wisteria walkway and into the banquet room, where the organ is. It's a nice tour and pretty interesting. I really liked the little museum. They have a lot of old mining gear and odds and ends. They also have fossils and jewelry. It's pretty random, but really cool. I'd really like to attend a concert here. Old dominion played last night. But they've had really great musicians play here. I guess the outdoor amphitheater can seat up to 8,000!! Crazy!

Yelp
What can I say? This place is the best!! Tucked beyond a few towns known for the Gold Rush, gems, rocks and total geology - is a gem all its own. From the minute you pull into the driveway, you do get the feel you are in a sanctuary. You have the opportunity to head over to the jewelry shop / museum on one side or over to the tasting room / deli. We did both. Sandwiches are so delish!!! You will enjoy the meat. I tasted only whites on this occasion - but they have reds as well. Try the Symphony- you will enjoy. The bonus of the day was doing the self-guided tour. Being able to enjoy all of the grounds, explore the wine caves, etc, - great experience!

Yelp
For Valentine's Day we booked the Private Tour and Elevated Experience. Veronica was a great host who was very knowledgeable about the wine and the grounds. It was a treat to see a lot of the places we never would have unless we were there for a wedding or such. The pairing of the wines and canapé were spot on and quite satisfying. I'd much rather spend a bit more for an experience like this then run from one winery to another. We'll definitely make our way back there when the weather is nicer and hopefully other activities have resumed.

Yelp
Did a last minute trip and decided to try this winery which had good reviews. You have to do a reservation before going in for a tasting. Tasting price is $5 for 5 tastes. Staff was nice, the wines were all good and the bottles are among the most reasonably priced that I've ever seen. Definitely worth it. They also have a gem museum next door that has the worlds largest gold leaf that is free.

Yelp
Beautiful winery! The property has amazing indoor and outdoor spaces. Grab a glass or bottle of wine and you could relax there for hours. It is one of my favorite places to visit. It does get busy on the weekends so if you are there for a tasting be ready to mingle. Only downside is the food, they have prepared snacks and sandwiches but I wish the deli was open as well. Sad result of Covid. Hopefully things will turn around and it will open back up. A good Charcuterie board is always wonderful with wine!

Yelp
Drove up for a wedding and reception, not the usual stop in for the fix and tour. A beautiful afternoon, the sky full of light clouds and the air was fresh with last night's rain. The parking was easy and the grounds were well groomed. The vows were exchanged and the party was moved into the cave. Here is a space comfortable enough for a hundred or so close friends with room for dancing and caterers to do there things. Never heard or saw a problem with any of the staff at this event it went smoothly from start to finish. Last words...2014 old vine Zin, nice.

Yelp
Honestly - one of the best experiences I have had at a winery. I had researched things to do in Murphy's / Jamestown area. I had called the week prior to taking a trip - and not sure where the miscommunication went - but confirmed over the phone that there were multiple tours. Either way - when we showed up at 2:30 we went looking for the tour starting location only to be informed that tours are given once per day at 1:30. Again, I explicitly called to make sure we could do the free tour - I was bummed because I was misinformed. One of the employees at the deli noticed my frustration, and arranged for someone to give us a tour. Such an amazing tour! So much history! You can do a tour on your own - but so glad that we were able to have Candi as our guide. Truly made it special for me and my family. Welcomed my hubby to play the piano in the music room. The grounds are gorgeous, the caves were stunning, the collections and museum nice addition - and the wine... oh the wine! So delicious. Definitely will be returning.

Yelp
We stopped at this winery on a recommendation. We have toured many wineries in several countries and this one tops them all. We were amazed at how much we saw and learned about this fascinating family, the history and the business. Conrad was our tour guide and I can't say enough about how knowledgeable he is about everything Ironstone Winery. I highly recommend taking the tour. The wines are outstanding too.
