Irori Sushi - Review - Marina Del Rey - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Tucked between a jeweler and a taco shop in a weird shopping-center cul-de-sac, Irori has long been Marina del Rey’s best-kept secret. Well, the secret’s out: From their massive $14.50 bento box lunch to their 12-piece omakase (for $51), this is one of the best bang-for-your-buck meals on the Westside. The fish is always high-quality and the rolls are creative (get the blue crab and salmon roll with truffle), plus, they make you remove your shoes when you enter, if you’re looking for a little bit of tradition, too." - James Montgomery

On the Grid : Irori Sushi

"With so many good sushi places to choose from it’s hard to pick a favorite, but within the MDR confines Irori is a can’t miss. Don’t let the vanilla strip mall location turn you away, this traditional sushi joint is a local favorite. Crispy Albacore Sashimi, Hot Night Roll and Yellowtail with Jalapeño are musts. Shoes are not welcome but reservations are (Bonus!)." - Rinker Design

Irori Review - Hammersmith - London - The Infatuation

"Irori’s website homepage has ‘Delivery & Takeaway’ plastered all over it, but you should know that this small, casual Japanese spot on Shepherds Bush Road also has a couple of tables and some high window seats inside. Order their refreshing California roll, which comes topped with spicy mayo swirls, a prawn tempura dragon roll, or their good-value sharing box for two, which has 42 pieces of sushi. The sushi is made to order and is an ideal lunch or dinner option when you’re looking to fill up on kaburimaki in west London." - Rianne Shlebak

This was a nice place to eat while waiting to head over to LAX. Food tasted fresh and it felt very welcoming. We tried many different things and enjoyed all the food and sake. I had uni for the first time and they had two different options we went with the Santa Monica option I believe. Over great spot for a good meal.

I tried so many different sushi restaurants and this place might become one of my favorites. I honestly didn't expect much since it was a sushi restaurant inside a mall, but I was pleasantly surprised. The fish was delicious! I've been to sushi restaurants where the food is way more expensive and didn't even come close to the freshness or the flavors of this place. The ocean trout special and live sweet shrimp were my favorite. I wasn't very impressed by the roll that I got but maybe I'll try out something else next time. The toro toast was interesting and delicious too. I think they have a lunch special during the weekdays too. My server was also so polite and friendly. Incredible customer service. Would highly recommend if you live around the area!

Google
Now this is probably one of the best spots you can go for sushi. The restaurant has such a nice ambiance. You have to take off your shoes which was a great surprise. Very clean floors. And you feel like you are sitting on the floor yet your feet go into an opening. I loved it.

Google
Fantastic place. Kind of hidden in a strip mall in Marina Del Rey. The sushi is fantastic. Standouts with the albacore fried onion roll and the soft shell crab, as well as all nigiri (butter hotate, ocean trout, o-toro). Nice vibe as well, with cute seating where you legs kind of hide under the table. Not trying to be too “vibey” - just authentically a cool, nice yet chill spot. And finally by far the best value to quality sushi I’ve seen in ages. Everywhere these days either seems to be low quality crab salad sushi, or “omakase only.” This strikes a needed balance, and I’d trust omakase or a la carte here.

Google
Irori Sushi in LA exceeded my expectations! The uni with caviar was incredibly fresh, and the toro bowl topped with uni was rich and delicious. The hand rolls were perfectly crafted with well-seasoned rice and crisp seaweed. The fried shrimp heads added a fun crunch, and every dish showcased the chef’s attention to detail. Cozy atmosphere, attentive service, and authentic flavors – highly recommend for a memorable sushi experience!

Google
Food was overall incredible but had one really chewy piece of salmon sushi that was a special for $16 so had to nix 2 stars. But go here!! The food is great and they are so nice

Rebecca Z.

Google
Amazing sushi spot with a fantastic vibe! The quality of the sushi is top-notch, with fresh, flavorful raw fish that melts in your mouth. A unique touch: you take off your shoes at the entrance and sit halfway into the floor for a traditional and cozy dining experience. Highly recommend for sushi lovers!

The service was great, everyone was welcoming, helpful and friendly. The food everything tasted fantastic.

Yelp
Irori is worth the drive in traffic for its high-quality sushi and consistently delicious food. A foodie friend first introduced me to this hidden gem in 2018 that's tucked inside a shopping center between CVS and Pavilions in Marina del Rey. Since then, it has become one of my favorite sushi spots for family gatherings, special occasions and introducing friends to great sushi. Food I've tried a variety of items on the menu and you really can't go wrong with their sashimi or nigiri. Rainbow Roll - A solid choice if you can't decide on a roll. They also offer a Premium Rainbow Roll that's twice the price but well worth it for special occasions (I always treat myself to this on my birthday!). Salmon with Blue Crab - A great appetizer filled with real blue crab and a hint of truffle that will make you want to order more than just one. Nabeyaki Udon - One of the best I've had. Unlike some places that serve instant tasting udon, this one is rich and flavorful with chicken, soft egg, tofu skin and tempura shrimp. Service The servers are wonderful. They are attentive, knowledgeable and happy to provide recommendations. Plus, they never rush you through your meal. Ambiance The cozy interior features low tables which create a traditional feel. Since you'll need to remove your shoes, be sure to wear or bring socks. Bonus: The bathrooms are clean (the women's restroom even has a baby changing table) and they provide slippers so you're not walking in with just your socks. Overall this place is a solid choice for delicious sushi!

Yelp
It's been years since I've been back to this place and it was nice to find it still has great service and fresh sushi. If you have never been, be prepared to take off your shoes and sit on the floor (they have dugout spaces for your legs). They do have 2 regular chairs in the corner for handicap use or if you have issues bending down. Menu is extensive with options for hot or cold, but sitting at the sushi bar is my favorite place if you want mostly sushi or sashimi. The chef will make suggestions for you if you wish and he will base it on your previous orders, so it's a nice personalized experience as it should be! They have various lunch specials ranging from a choose your option sushi, roll, or sashimi platter to combinations with hot portions for those not into raw fish. The tempura was nice and crispy but I found the batter a bit heavy. The sashimi salad was a generous portion of 3 types of sashimi, but I didn't care for the dressing which was too sweet for my taste. The sushi lunch special was a great deal even with several upgrades which I preferred to the standard choices. Fish was fresh and présentation was nice, but the rice fell apart when I picked up each piece. I look forward to going back and trying more now that I live in the area.

Yelp
This place came recommended from a local and it sounded too cool to pass up. It's pretty unassuming on the outside and is part of a strip mall, but the inside is so cool. I think the most obvious and interesting thing is that they make you take your shoes off. All of the tables are ground level w/ no chairs so it's almost reminiscent like sitting on the floor. Servers were efficient for the most part. Very fast not too conversational. The food was pretty good. I appreciated the hint of spice in the spicy tuna roll. The ginza roll was super fresh and the fresh jalapeño added a nice touch. None of the fish was fishy if you know what I mean. The eel and avocado roll was pretty standard and good as well. Overall, it's a safe bet and cool vibe. Definitely check them out

Yelp
Craving Sashimi. Didn't want to wait until the evening for Sushi restaurants to open for dinner. Ended up in MDR at Irori. It's close to home but never been nor seen it as it's tucked away and not visible from the parking lot that I've been in more times than I can count. Also for some reason, never came up in searched until the other day. So, like I mentioned, huge parking lot. Free. Same plaza as Pavilions, Kalaveras, T-Mobile and other businesses. But, unless you walk over into the circular parking, you won't see it. I questioned myself for a minute looking for the front of the place. Walk in, remove your shoes. So, don't wear socks with holes unless you don't care about that. Pretty busy for a late lunch on Saturday (~ 2PM). not so busy that there was a wait or you need reservations. Meaning, great service. Attentive. I'd say friendly but I was busy eating and on my phone and really didn't engage with the staff. As for the food - enjoyed the Sashimi, the oysters not so much. Too much sauce for my taste though not so much that I didn't eat them. I guess I'd say they were OK as they weren't bad. A few were pretty scrawny but not to the point of pointing it out to the staff. I just wouldn't order it again. On that last note, yes, I'd go back. Close to home. Parking. And I enjoyed the seating where it looks like you're going to sit on the floor but the depression or carve out under the table lets you sit, just not on a chair.

Yelp
Tasty sushi, inviting ambience, great service. Highly recommend. We stopped by walk-in. Reservations highly recommended. They have traditional Japanese sitting, you leave your shoes at a rack in the entrance, so wear nice socks. Ample menu options with sashimi, sushi, nigri, rolls. Check the chef's recommendations. Our favorite dish was Tuna Albacore with crispy onions. Perfect texture combination and the onion augmented the Albacore perfectly. Baked salmon is good for those in your party that want something cooked. Salmon belly sashimi was second best. We also had Dragon roll as a comparison to other places and it was delicious. Highly recommend to go for the more traditional simple dishes with fish, they are very fresh! We had Mochi green tea and mago ice cream to share for 4. We sat at the sushi bar and that gave us a great view point and recommendations from the chef. The family tables are awesome as well, so next time we will do a reservation for a table!

Yelp
Intimate sushi spot, great service, delicious food. Came here late night on a Saturday and we were seated quickly. You have to remove your shoes before entering and the seating is almost like floor seating (but not actually), which was a new experience for me. They offer slippers near the bathroom which was a nice touch! Service here was amazing; everyone was super friendly and the food came out super fast which was really pleasantly surprising. Favorite bites of the night were the blue crab handroll and the dragon roll (the eel sauce was amazing). We sat at the bar and it was fun watching the chefs prep and interact!

Yelp
I want to say this place is good but I feel like I paid a lot for relatively little. The ambiance is great, you take off your shoes and sit on the ground. I actually really like this kind of immersion in a sense, and they also offer slippers when you go to the bathroom. Service wise, it's okay, I feel like sometimes there will be missing things like no water unless you ask for it. It feels a bit uncharacteristic for a restaurant of this type but also not a huge deal. Food wise the sushi is good, the sides like miso soup and salad are kind of whatever but the fish itself is quite tasty. My gripe is that the portion size feels really lacking! I definitely left feeling pretty hungry even though it seems like I got a full meal. So overall, I would give this place a 3 stars but the quality of the food itself deserves an extra star. If you aren't budget constricted then maybe this place will be great for you.

Yelp
I visited Irori Sushi for a dinner with family. The atmosphere is very calming and quiet, even when it gets pretty busy. In this restaurant, you leave your shoes at the front and walk in your socks. (They have slippers for the bathroom though, so don't worry about that!) The seating is Tatami-style, so it can be a bit tricky to get in/out of that if you aren't used it. Overall, I'd say the food was very tasty and the service was fairly quick. There is also a ton of parking outside. I'd recommend this place purely for the ambiance, but the shishito peppers and sushi were great too. I will be visiting again!

Yelp
Loved the sushi here! They have great lunch combos which I really liked. I got one with the shrimp tempura, avocado, and chicken karage. I really like how the set up is at this restaurant with the seats recessed into the floor. It really gets the feel of a traditional Japanese restaurant. Service is also really quick and friendly
google avatar

Abby Y.

Yelp
The best Sashimi in LA. Try their premium sashimi combo. Top three are blue fin toro, sweet shrimp and snow trout! Their soft crab is better than any other restaurant. Uni toast is also great. Hamachi ( yellow tail jowl) is also great! It is mandatory to take off shoes, no excuse.

Yelp
One of my favorite sushi places!!! We come here often, everything from the service to the ambience is perfect. You sit in the floor and you take your shoes off before you come into the restaurant very authentic food is fresh delicious everything is very clean. We've also sat at the sushi bar, which was a great experience this place doesn't miss good for lunch or a date night. We have done both.

Yelp

Yelp
This is my families favorite spot! We've been going here since moving to playa del rey since 2015

Yelp
Ambiance: it's a stylish Japanese restaurant located in MDR, you need to take off your shoes and basically seat on the ground with a small red pad Service: it's just fine, not genuinely and lack of service, no ice water was served until finished dining, apparently the waitress forgot Food & Drink: numerous items on their regular menu, with separate specials and omakase menu Premium Chirashi - **** chef's choice assorted fish over sushi rice, premium quality and fresh raw fish, recommend Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura - **** crispy and tasty, recommend House Green Salad - ** not fresh, rotten leaves Miso Soup - *** average taste Kirin Light - *** glass bottle Price: medium portions and pricey in general, expect about $50 per person. I'd say it's a 3.5 star and I only boost it because of the overall quality of raw fish

Yelp
Irori Sushi is such a hidden gem in Marina del Rey Plaza--seriously, you have to check it out! First off, you take your shoes off at the door, and the whole place has tatami seating. It's so cozy and gives off the perfect Japanese vibe. If you're lucky, grab a seat at the sushi bar and watch the chefs do their thing. The $90 omakase is a steal: you get an appetizer, miso soup, bean sprout salad, 5 pieces of fresh sashimi, 9 sushi pieces, and even dessert. Two people can totally share one and add a few extras! The fish changes daily--like the oysters we had were flown in from Washington, super fresh and sweet! Oh, and the uni toast? So good, fresh, and flavorful. If you love sushi, don't miss this spot. Great vibes, amazing food, and totally worth it!

Yelp
Place is always a great for a local area. Was in the area (my old stomping grounds). Looks like since we left the area (about 2 yrs ago....). The prices of wkday lunch bento has gone up. Sad because they use to have these awesome bento 2-3 items for fairly great priced but looks like they took away items and charging more for food. You still get a lot here thou but the prices are but high. Service is always consistent and great. Updated: Food: always consistent but has changed over the yrs... took away more items and you pay more. Prices seem to go up and portions slightly go down... still a good portion but not like it used to be... I ordered 1 order of yellowtail(2 pieces and it didn't taste like hamachi) and got charged $10... for my lunch for 2, came out to almost $80 with tip. My kid loves this place so when in the area, we always come for the lunch special. Like I said, prices are going up! At least their quality isn't going down.

Yelp
Had a great dinner here! It's a cute little place where you take your shoes off and sit at booth tables. The service is fast and friendly. They also have some really interesting special fish options like barracuda. The sashimi platter was great and would also recommend their seaweed salad. Everything was very fresh.

Yelp
I know this is a bold comment BUT Irori Sushi is THE best sushi I've had in LA. And I've lived in LA my whole life... and have eaten at MANY sushi restaurants. My friend made a reservation for 4 people the day before at 5pm for a Saturday. We got there at 4:55pm and the place was already busy... we thought who eats dinner at 5pm?? Anyways, we absolutely loved the ambiance of this place. It felt authentic (I've never been to Japan so maybe I'm just speaking from my a$$). Before you enter the seating area, you must remove your shoes (so I recommend washing your feet + wearing socks if you attend lol). They lead you to your table which is like a table on the floor, but there's room on the bottom for you to maneuver your legs under the table... not sure how to explain it, but it was so great. You're seated on a small pillow pad but if you need back support, they can offer you a legless chair with back support. My friends and I all got the omakase ($90 each), hot tea ($2 each), and one uni/toro bowl ($40). The uni/toro bowl was insanely delicious but not sure if I'd order again because it was like $10/ per bite... it was a super small portion. The omakase came with I believe around 12 courses? Everything was SO fresh and buttery, the fish melted in my mouth. Truly so delicious. I was perfectly full after, but I wouldn't complain if they set another unagi sushi in front of me. Hot green tea was constantly refilled, super worth it on a cold day. Service was great and friendly. We had such an amazing experience! Would definitely return to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
Irori is one of our favorite places to come! The whole restaurant is tatami seating so you take your shoes off when you arrive, go up to the dining area and sit on the floor at your table. There are holes in the floor under the tables so you have room for your legs to sit comfortably. The staff is always great when we dine in and the food is incredible! We switch up our order almost every time but some of our favorites include the kanpachi carpaccio, jalapeño hamachi, crispy rice spicy tuna, blue crab hand rolls, jumbo scallop nigiri, toro nigiri, hamachi sashimi, etc. All of the fish is so fresh and delicious. We recently tried the chicken karage with my nieces and they loved it so much we ordered a second round! Great wine and sake selection as well!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been here five+ times over the last couple of years. The food is pretty good, but the staff is not exactly the most welcoming and friendly. We arrived at 5:00 without a reservation. The staff who sat us (middle aged Asian woman) seemed very annoyed from the beginning. This is not the first time they I've experienced her attitude. I ordered the Chirashi bowl ($45) and it was made with good quality ingredients. The rock shrimp was okay. Be careful as looks are deceiving - the dish was quite spicy, where 3 of the 4 of us couldn't eat it. The food preparation and delivery was a bit off. My table mate ordered a simple cucumber maki roll for his dinner. The other three of us were 1/2 way through our meal when his roll arrived. I politely asked one of the waitress (same annoyed lady) to check up on his roll, and she seemed rather annoyed with my inquiry. The only other time that the staff came by the table was to clean our table so they could turn it around. Food grade: B Service grade: D We won't be back and we wont be recommending this place to others.

Yelp
Always great Japanese food from sushi to cooked meals of all types. I have been going here for 35 years and love it. Busy , vibrant atmosphere. Everyone is having a great time enjoying the traditional Japanese tradition of removing your shoes and sitting on a cushion. Price is very reasonable.
google avatar

Lisa D.

Yelp
As we entered the restaurant, we didn't expect to remove our shoes. But what an amazing experience. We felt as if we were in Japan. The ambience, food and service were top tier! Thank you!
google avatar

Erika A.

Yelp
This place is sooo good and highly recommend you check it out if you're looking for a good sushi spot. The service was great and even though we didn't have reservations, we got seated pretty quickly. You have to take your shoes off and the seating is a little different, but a cool experience. My boyfriend and I got the sashito peppers and 4 rolls. Don't remember the names but you won't be disappointed with anything you order. Our server Jess was sweet and very attentive! We'll be returning soon.

Yelp
Azazel is the bomb sushi chef. By far best Sushi I've had in a long time. Ask him for the AB shooter..

Yelp
We went there for lunch they have this lunch menu 33 dollars omakase which is really good deal. Also the other food uni toast and soft shell crab both are good

Yelp
Irori is nice to go to because of the experience of their ambiance. I've never had bad service here but it seems to have gone down over the years, and I have been coming here for almost 20 years. This would not be my first choice for sushi. However, my kids love coming here for the sit on the floor dining.
google avatar

Mina Y.

Yelp
To me, it's a bit overrated. It was okay, but I don't feel the need to return. When I go to a restaurant, I like to feel that my money is well spent. Overall, it wasn't bad, but I left feeling a bit disappointed. There are many sushi restaurants out there, but it's not easy to find one that offers good value for the price.

Yelp
Irori Sushi in MDL is an excellent spot for date night, a first date, catching up with an old friend, or meeting family or friends, with or without kids. Irori Sushi is one of the best sushi restaurants in LA. Their service is immaculate, and the restaurant is clean and neat. The food is all kinds of amazing. Seriously, the quality of the fish and the ingredients they use is 10/10. I would give them ten starts. Our waitress approached us right after we got a on table; she was quick and efficient and could accommodate our requests. We asked for chairs to support our backs, and she got them immediately. We ordered a few menu items: Hot Sake, the Black Truffle Salmon, Lemon Roll and Salmon Avocado Roll, and spicy Mayo and teriyaki sauce on the side. Everything tasted delicious, and just thinking about it now makes me crave it again. Thank Irori Sushi for a great dinner and for setting the bar high. If you have friends visiting out of town and they love sushi- take them here, and they will love you forever! -Free, easy parking, lots of spots since the restaurant is in a shopping center. -Kid-friendly! We were there on Friday around 7 p.m. and saw many families with young and older children dining there, and it wasn't loud. A very diverse crowd of people, which is excellent.

Yelp
Came here for the first time to try their omakase. For $90, I thought it was a pretty good price compared to other omakase. When you first walk in, you are greeted by a host who asks the amount of your party, then you take off your shoes and stick it in a cubby. Then you are ushered to your seat. It's Japanese style (sit on the ground, but they have openings for your legs and feet so you aren't sitting on your knees or crisscrossed). We decided to sit at the sushi bar (I always try to sit at the bar if I'm ordering omakase). The staff was friendly and somewhat attentive. They took our drink order quick, but ended up ordering omakase from the chef. You get about 11 pieces of nigiri sushi, sashimi platter of 6 different fish, a taco (octopus) and cucumber appetizer dish and dessert. Quality wasn't too bad (I mean I've had better, but I guess it was decent for being $90). I wasn't left feeling hungry. My toro wasn't really melt in your mouth, and uni was okay. I probably would go to somewhere else to get better quality fish, but all in all it was pretty good. Give it a 3.5 stars
google avatar

Zach A.

Yelp
Came here with friends not realizing how fancy it is. Looks like a hole in the wall but in reality very interesting inside. We got the premium sashimi platter, a few rolls (eel, spicy tuna) as well as gyoza, agedashi, and edamame. The gyoza, agedashi, and edamame were fantastic. As far as the sashimi plate, it was hit or miss. Half of it was very very good, the other half was somewhat forgettable. It felt too mixed in terms of the quality and cuts of fish, and there wasn't a lot of creativity or anything. The eel roll was fantastic, the spicy tuna was just alright. Overall it was great and the service was solid, but pricey for what you get.
google avatar

mike f.

Yelp
I generally go there for sushi, sizes of fish are small compared to other sushi restaurants for comparable prices! Services is fine, plenty of staff on duty, no complaints about ambiance.
google avatar

Judy S.

Yelp
Vibes and ambiance is extremely cute - you have to take off your shoes and seating is sunken into the ground. But the sushi is very overrated and honestly not that good - too warm, texture is too chewy and doesn't melt in your mouth like you'd expect from fresh fish, rice was both under and overcooked somehow(?!). If you're looking just for vibes and are not picky about food, then this is a good option I guess. But given the food quality and the prices, there are so many better sushi restaurant options.
google avatar

Yelp
Well now, this is our favorite restaurant in Southern California. Just great. Magnificent sashimi, everything is on the menu, the sake is hot, the beer is cold. Thanks Daniel for superb service.

Yelp
Irori is nestled in a grocery store strip mall in Marina Del Ray. On the outside it just looks like a casual nothing special restaurant. But on the inside it is anything but that. You take off your shoes and dine in recessed tables in the ground. It's a quiet and intimate space that always makes me feel relaxed. Beyond the space, the food also echos this as well. It isn't a quick cheap sushi restaurant however it shows in the quality of fish that they provide. Some of the best quality for the price that I have found! I generally get a sushi platter that comes with a good variety of fish and soup and salad is also included. I think for me with sushi and sashimi it's all about the quality of course and they really nail it. This is the perfect relaxing place to get some high quality sushi for a reasonable price on the west side and I strongly recommend it!

Yelp
Coming from Hawaii, my mom wanted to treat us to sushi (she lives in LA). I have pretty high standards as Hawaii sushi is bomb. This place did not disappoint. At 1st I was somewhat alarmed as it's in a strip mall-ish type place in the Marina, but don't be fooled. After you are required to remove your shoes, you are seated. There was nothing that I had that I was disappointed in. I accidentally ordered the truffle salmon, and was glad. It was outstanding. It was incredibly flavorful. Calamari was fried to perfection as the veggie tempura and karaage chicken. It was all so good I forgot to take pictures of half the stuff we ordered. There are slippers by the bathroom that you may use-don't go into the bathroom with your bare feet like my friend did! lol

Yelp
A tried and true favorite after years of ordering. Always excellent quality whether I ordered to go or eat in person. Anyone who we recommend it to also loves it as well. Irori's Fish is always fresh and rolls are flavorful. Favorites are the Ginza roll, sunshine roll, yellowtail sashimi, any nigiri, spicy tuna crispy rice, grilled eggplant, shishito peppers, and cucumber sunomono salad. Really enjoyable experience eating in person - you also get a feel for Japanese culture. They require you to remove your shoes and the tables are fit into the floor so you feel like you're sitting down to eat. Service is also always great. I haven't tried the omakase but will hopefully be back for it soon

Yelp
My first one star review. And the first time I needed to downgrade a review. A year ago, I gave this restaurant five stars. I've been there a few times since then, and it's never lived up to a five star experience again. Tonight we had a one-star experience. For the first time in our lives, we did not finish our meal - the food was that bad. We sat down and ordered, and within seven minutes, our entire meal was thrown at us: several appetizers, miso soup, sashimi, and eggplant - all together! The food didn't even fit on the table - the waitress banged plates together to drop it all off. The quality of the food didn't stand up - not one dish. The shishito peppers were gloppy and swimming in a puddle of sweet sauce. The miso soup was tasteless and watery. The eggplant was way too sweet, and the skin was impossible to chew. But the fish was the worst. The sashimi was room temperature, not fresh, and tasted like it had sat around for a while. So disappointing. The service was BAD. So many restaurants are understaffed right now, and sometimes it just takes a little patience and a good attitude to have a great meal. But Irori Sushi had plenty of staff - they were just running around and dropping off plates and didn't care at all. When we asked about why all our dishes were dropped off at once, we were met with open hostility. There was no way to make our experience acceptable. Irori Sushi is trying to glide by on its past reputation and food and service. It's obviously fallen on hard times, and I would avoid it at all costs.

Yelp
This place is very cute and fun for a date night or get together with friends. I like that we had to take our shoes off. We enjoyed many sushi rolls. A bit pricey but a solid quality of sushi.

Yelp
A traditional and old school Japanese restaurant! Their sashimi is very fresh and tasty! Especially the uni! It was very sweet! Highly recommended! Service is nice!

Yelp
My boyfriend took me here for a date night meal. We came without a reservation and were able to seated at the bar, but I would recommend getting a reservation if you'd like at table and/or ensure that they will have space for you and your party. You'll need to remove your shoes and leave them in the cubbies up front for your meal and I believe they have little "sock" type things in the front for you if you came in barefoot. Our experience with April was a sheer delight. She was a wonderful server and always took the time to make sure we were okay and had everything we needed, even in the dinner-time rush. Normally I believe the sushi chefs are a bit more interactive and you can order directly from them, but since we came in the middle of the dinner rush, April told us we would be her main point of contact. However, throughout our meal, we were able to watch sushi chef Gerry, making all the dishes which was truly a delight! I ordered the sushi platter and even when busy, Gerry took the time to explain which sushi I was eating for my meal that evening. My boyfriend ordered the sunshine roll and it looked amazing, though I was too full to try some! We topped our meal off with the creme brulee which was also quite lovely! We cannot wait to go back and have another fun experience at Irori! :) Thank you April and Gerry for making our night spectacular, we look forward to seeing you both again soon!

Yelp
Our go-to sushi spot. Fun atmosphere, you take off your shoes and sit on the floor for an authentic dining experience . The staff is friendly and attentive. Every dish reflects the commitment to freshness and quality. The salmon blue crab roll with truffle ponzu is unparalleled, a must-try! The yellowtail jalapeno carpaccio and black cod delighted our taste buds with their exquisite flavors. Cap off the meal with the sublime crème brûlée, featuring a perfect blend of white chocolate and macadamia nuts. An unforgettable dining adventure.

Yelp
The service here is good in the atmosphere is great. We're handicapped however so it was hard to sit on the floor but they have two handicapped seats by the door. At the sushi bar you can watch them as they skillfully prepare fresh fish. We always love the yellowtail and the Uni. And we had a great skin hand roll as well. We had a wonderful wonderful wonderful meal and we even had temporary green tea ice cream to cap the evening.

Yelp
One of the best Sushi you will find in Marina Del Rey area, Ca. This place has a great ambiance and authentic atmosphere. You will first be greeted and as Japanese culture, you'll be asked to remove your shoes before you get seated. Tips, bring socks to wear. You can choose to sit at their floor tables (you literally sitting on the floor with your legs below the table where there's space under it). Or you can ask to be seated at the Chefs table (which I recommend ) to get best view and can watch them make and prepare your food/sushi right infront of you. It's a bit pricey but you won't regret the experience and the food! A tips is the fixed Chefs menu for $90 and you will get a great variety including dessert. It's my go-to spot if I'm craving sushi.

Yelp
Apparently this spot has been around for a very long time. Was recommended Irori by a coworker and was told you sit on the floor like in Japan so I was intrigued. We came Sunday night and it was packed. We had to wait about 20-30 minutes. Food was pretty good. Would definitely come back again. Highly recommend the miso cod

Yelp
Just an FYI, if you have a hard time finding this restaurant it's located inside the round-about! We made a reservation and glad we did, otherwise you may have to wait 10-15 minutes. The seats are traditional - the ground is dug out so technically there are no chairs needed. Cool! The atmosphere is great, but I give it 4 stars because the premium sashimi I got wasn't so premium for $90. It comes with 20 pieces of regular sashimi and the cut was small so I felt disappointed. I got a side of sushi rice so I didn't have to eat so much rice. Yuzu halibut, dragon roll, and toro trio were very good! For 2 people, 2 sakes, and the items ordered came out to $214. Not too bad, but leaving a bit dissatisfied and trying a different place next time.

Yelp
Irori Sushi, is a Marina staple. Although we've never had the opportunity to dine in here, we have ordered plenty of takeout from this joint. The sushi itself, is incredible. The flavors are epic, and the quality of seafood is above par. We have enjoyed numerous rolls, sashimi, and sides and never had a bad experience. I've even begun ordering larger quantities for guests when I'm having a diner party, and never heard anything but compliments. The service is always calm, and helpful when we call in and they offer a decent amount of condiments, which is very much appreciated and needed. Highly recommend. A bit steep price wise but you won't be disappointed, that's for sure! Cheers to consistency Yelpers xx

Yelp
Sushi was solid, but what I appreciate is the ambiance. It's a little nostalgic because you actually feel like you're in Japan in the 90s, sitting on the floor, etc. Our waiter was very nice and friendly. And to their credit, there are sushi options that aren't always available at your more "modern" Japanese restaurants.
