The Best Indian Restaurants in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"The red and green neon sign of Kebab N’Kurry, one of the oldest Indian restaurants in the Metroplex, is hard to miss. Open since 1982, Kebab N’Kurryserves classic dishes cooked inside a traditional clay oven known as a tandoor. It’s worth ordering the tandoori chicken, bone-in chicken splayed and cut in half and then marinated in spiced yogurt. Also outstanding is the chicken tikka, boneless chicken cubes marinated in the same spiced yogurt which are skewered and grilled." - Courtney E. Smith

Tried a few items here and overall had a decent experience. The Timur chicken had good flavor and a nice spicy kick, but it became a bit hard after about 15 minutes. The chicken sekuwa came in a good quantity and was enjoyable. The highlight for me was the momo chicken tikka masala — very good dish with great texture and rich flavor. The Juju Dhau was average; it would be nice to see more authentic Nepali desserts added to the menu. Service was okay, nothing exceptional but nothing bad either. Overall, worth trying for the flavors, especially the momo tikka masala.

Google
A beautiful establishment with amazing food! They allow you to choose spice level and give friendly suggestions! I got medium spice for everything. Suggested Dish: Chicken Tikka Momos- these were absolutely delicious! Well spiced and the chicken was tender Chicken Biryani: THE CHICKEN WAS DO TENDER AND SPICED PERFECTLY 😚 the basmati was toasted well and accompanied by perfectly cooked herbs and onions. Great portion! Chicken Tikka Chow Mein: perfectly creamy and cook soooooo well. Tender noodles with the chicken melted in my mouth. Great service! Can’t wait to go back!

I honestly don’t understand how this place has good reviews. I spent $121 here, and literally nothing was worth it. The food was cold, oily, and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. The momos (both veg and chicken) were hard and dry inside, with barely any filling or flavor. The Chicken Chowmein was just a pile of soggy noodles drowned in oil, and even after paying extra for eggs, it tasted awful.

Google
The Golo Momo Tikka Masala was dry and tasted like reheated leftovers. Both Chicken Chowmeins were greasy, overcooked, and loaded with oil — even after paying extra for double eggs ($2.98 each), they barely had any flavor. The Chicken Chilli was soggy instead of crispy, and had a strange aftertaste. The Veg Momo Tikka and Veg Momo were completely bland, with thick dough and no seasoning. The Chicken Golo Momo was chewy and almost cold when it arrived. Even the Mango Lassi tasted watered down

I recently had a good time dining at this restaurant and it was really a good experience. The flavours were amazing every dish was full of the bold spices and aromas that define the cuisine. From the momos to the chowmein and fried rice each bite showcased a good balance taste. The ambiance of the restaurant felt good with lot of customers being there and enjoying the food. Overall, I had a good time and would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to explore Nepalese flavours in a friendly setting. I’m looking forward to my next visit!

Google
Disappointing experience all around.! This place ended up me being letdown. The food was overly greasy and the flavours just didn’t come together. The noodles were too oily and smells weird felt like they were tossed in a bland sauce. The chicken was uncooked and dry the dumplings were underwhelming the filling seemed mushy. On top of that service was slow and the place was not cleaned at all. The mango lassi made with over fermented yogurt which tastes bad not worth the money at all and won’t be coming back.

Google
I recently visited Irving Kabab and Curry and absolutely loved it! The Tikka Momo is highly, highly recommended and packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. I also tried their fried rice and noodles, which were really good and made for a satisfying meal. Overall, this place is definitely worth visiting and I’d highly recommend it if you’re looking for tasty and fresh food.

Google
This place used to be good know for their best quality foods but now its just mediocre. I went there with my four friends we ordered 👇 1. Chatpate -> Below Average no flavor, no tanginess, no spices. 2. MOMO Tikka Masala -> Very Average 3. Mutton Sekuwa -> It was actually good, the mutton was well marinated, flavorful and nicely cooked. 4. Veg Jhol MOMO -> It was just average the veg momo were small in size and soggy. 5. Mutton Biryani -> The standout dish of the night for us. We were actually surprised by the taste, quality and portion of this dish. I highly recommend it although I would suggest them to if possible cut the Mutton tk bite size pieced rather than that chunky piece of meat apart from that it is perfect. 6. Tofu Stick -> Surpried with the price we paid for that portion of food. 7. JUJU Dhau -> Just like a regular Dahi nothing special.

Yelp
My friends recommended this place for the best kebabs and dumplings (momos) in town, and I'm glad I tried it! I had the chilli momos, chicken momos, and tikka masala momos. The tikka masala momos were my favorite--so flavorful and creamy. I also ordered fried rice, veg chowmein, and potato chilli. The potato chilli was really tasty and crispy. The veg chowmein was a bit too spicy for me, even though I ordered medium spice--next time, I'll go for mild. If you love dumplings, you should definitely try this place! The food tastes very authentic. It's a BYOB spot with a simple setup of about 8-10 tables. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Recommended by a Nepalese friend that mentioned that Kabab n Kurry has the best representation of Nepalese food so we tried it. The portions were huge and prices were fairly cheap. All the dishes were very flavorful with lots of spices. They had the best Momo I have ever tried! Staff were sweet and friendly. It seemed like it was family owned but not sure. Check this place out if you wanted to try Nepalese food.

Yelp
This Nepali restaurant has been my go to for their momo, thali, and chowmein, but my recent visit was very disappointing. I started with the buff sukuti set served with beaten rice(Chuira), potato pickle (alloo achar) and tomato sauces (achar) and it was quite good. However, I also ordered the mutton sekuwa thali and chicken thali and both were such a let down. So both thali were identical with only difference being the meat. They both came with lentil soup (daal) which tasted stale and watery, the cauliflower-potato curry (aloo gobi) was bland, and the papad was soggy. The chicken curry lacked flavor, while the mutton was average. The mustard saag and pickles were good. No dessert was included in the thalis, which was unusual. A major issue was the garlic naan, which had what appeared to be a white hair. Although staff claimed it might be garlic thread, it was off-putting and ended the meal for me. The small space requires adjustment, and the tap water felt questionable (opt for bottled water). The servers were kind and attentive, but overall, the quality of food needs significant improvement. p.s. only giving one extra for previous experience
google avatar

Lei T.

Yelp
The momos were out of this world! I got the chicken Tikka momos and they had so much flavor. I would definitely get again. Mango lasso was also great. It looked like they had saag paneer on the menu but when I asked they said they didn't and I panic pivoted to the lamb sekuta, which I did not like. I would go back just for the momos.

Yelp
Hands down the best Momo in DFW The 1st time I had it, I ordered them "spicy" because I enjoy spicy food but it came out way more spicier than expected so I suggest ordering everything "medium-spicy". On occasion, they have ran out of the Veggie Momo before closing, which is suggestive of how good they are! Must Try: Tikka Momo 10/10 Chili Momo 10/10 Other: Chow Mein 7/10 (on the drier side)

Yelp
We have to this famous whole in the wall Nepalese restaurants several times. Every time we have gone, we have not been disappointed. On this visit, we started with the Vegetable Samosas. They were fried perfectly with a wonderful potato filling. They were on the par with some of the best Samosas we have had in the past. We then tried several of the different Momos. We had the regular Chicken, Chili, and Tikka Masala Momos. They were all tasty with unique flavors. For our main dishes, we had Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Biryani, and the Chow Mein. The rice in the Biryani dish was very flavorful. The Tikka Masala was smooth and creamy. The Chow Mein was a great fusion dish. The service was prompt, thr atmosphere was a whole in the wall, and the food was delicious. We will come back again.

Yelp
Great Food, great server, super friendly! We hosted a birthday here and they were over the top with their service! However, I'd like to see improvements made in their physical appearance and the cleanliness of the furniture.

Yelp
We went here on the recommendation of a colleague and it was a great suggestion. It was a long drive for us but we were in Irving for something else, so off we went. The place is modest, maybe even a candidate for Guy's DDD. It's small with about 10 tables or so of different sizes. We came for the mo:mos and they did not disappoint. A mo:mo is a Nepalese dumpling (from the country of Nepal, northeast of India). I ordered the combo of sekuwa chicken and 5 chicken mo:mos and they were beyond phenomenal. I won't be able to think about any other food for weeks. Although I've only had mo:mos a couple of times, these were the best I ever had by far. The flavor and execution was excellent. Highly recommended. I would get those every time. The accompanying sekuwa chicken was also phenomenal. Sekuwa is an Indian spice that is used as a marinade. The flavor was deep, rich, complex, and sophisticated. The chicken thigh was tender and juicy. The sauce that it came with on the side was super spicy and totally unnecessary IMO. The wife and I also split a butter chicken dish and it was very flavorful. The chicken was super tender and not dried out. The naan bread seemed to be steamed as it lacked that crispy exterior but it was good nonetheless. The masala tea was very tasty and a perfect addition. Prices are very reasonable. Service was friendly and helpful. If we lived closer, I would eat here at least once a week. Every time we will be in Irving we are returning here for sure.

Yelp
We arrived on Sunday and we were seated right away, we went looking for chicken momo. We arrived at a perfect time, only two tables were seated. By the time we left, it was full. We started with Veg Pakora, veggies fritters with dipping sauce. We got the Chicken momo and we added a plate of a common favorite, Butter chicken. Both dishes were delicious. Service was fast and friendly.

Yelp
I've always wanted to try Nepalese food and finally made it to Irving Kabab N Kurry after several recommendations and it did not disappoint. 5/5 Chicken Momos: Ofc I had to order the most famous Nepalese dish. These were super flavorful and delicious. I really enjoyed the sauce that came with it but I dipped mine in the Chicken Tikka and it was even better. 4/5 Chicken Tikka: Taste a little different than the Indian versions, but I like it! It was very creamy, sweet, and flavorful. I do wish that it came with rice, both rice and naan costs extra. 5/5 Sekuwa Chicken: One of the star dishes! The chicken was SO moist and the flavor was very deep and complex. I really liked the dry, toasted rice that it came with and the other side dishes. Overall, very authentic restaurant with amazing food. The portions were pretty generous for the price. Service was very friendly. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Of the 4 Nepali restaurants I've tried across Dallas, Kabab N Kurry has had the best Momos thus far. Its also the only place that has hand made peels, and thats pretty much what is giving it the edge. The peels are chewy and delicious, and the filling is very well seasoned. The Thali was very complete, and the curry was good. The chicken was a little over cooked but thats pretty common for thali curries as its not made to order. The Pakora was great. Super well seasoned and fresh out the fryer. Served with momo sauce too, which is a great paring.

Yelp
Good prices large portions, friendly service, gets a bit packed at times. Taste is good

Yelp
My quest to try and review every Nepali restaurant in a 10 mile radius continued with Irving Kabab N Kurry. I've been in person to this restaurant in the past, but it's been a good couple years and so decided to try them again to leave a review based on my most latest experience. They have some really good fried chicken sausages, and they're done differently than those in other Nepali joints because they season aggressively with spices and add onions and cilantro. They're paired with a nice tomato/chili sauce and a perfect way to start the meal. The fried rice opted for included three kinds of protein - chicken, goat meat and shrimp. Wish the rice was seasoned a bit more for my palate, otherwise it was fine. The chicken sekuwa (roasted meat) is usually paired with choila (beaten rice), but in this case the rice was normal but seasoned. It also came with a side of veggies. The chicken was moist on the inside. Except for being a tad higher in the sodium level, it was an otherwise very flavorful option.

Yelp
We usually come here often but this time around we tried to order and after attempting to go in there twice to fix it, they refused so we had to stick with what we had. Please have someone that is able to take phone call orders completely.

Mona L.

Yelp
the momos go crazyyyy. making my review to boost ratings cause it's def better than 3.5

Yesaswi A.

Yelp
The food was amazing. Definitely will visit again when I'm in town. The street noodles and momos are delicious.

Yelp
Taste is very good i liked the momos very good! And would go only for momos and the ambience is also good

Yelp
One of my coworkers brought me here for authentic Nepali food (particularly for the mo:mos), and it did not disappoint!! They were able to accommodate us even though we were a very large group. We ordered pretty much every type of mo:mo and shared family style so that we could all taste the different options. My favorites were the chili mo:mo and tikka masala mo:mo. We also ordered the chicken tikka masala, chicken biriyani, and garlic naan to share. Everything was absolutely delicious and I definitely plan on coming back soon!

Amazing food, and service . My go to restaurant and can never go wrong with it when I'm super hungry.

Yelp
Delicious authentic food, we had chicken beryani, buttet chicken and chicken tekka masala. Fast service, affordable prices. A must try restaurant. add it to your list now, thank me later.

Yelp
The convenience of Irving Kabab N Kurry is that they're open late night, and great to satisfy a momo craving. Beyond that craving, I don't suggest coming for anything else. The chili chicken momos and steamed round chicken momos are both fantastic, and the accompanying sauce is just as flavorful. Some other items my husband and I tried were - A goat entree that was supposed to come with rice.. but didn't. Overall taste was subpar - A noodle dish that came with goat when we ordered it with chicken. The taste of the entire dish was overwhelmingly taken over by the gamey meat taste. - Chicken 65- which is supposed to be a spicy deep fried dish, but this was not fried and was in fact served as spiced big chunks of chicken breast. Flavor was okay, but not the experience to be looked for. Overall, as mentioned, great for momos, not for other dishes. Service is also slow.

Andrea B.

Yelp
The food is good. It's a pretty big portion for what you're given and you're most likely gonna have to take some to go in a box. The seating situation feels like you're cramped and others can definitely hear in your conversation. The service is nice too I always see the two girls working there. I would recommend the tikka masala momo.

Phillip M.

Yelp
We discovered this restaurant while killing some time before our flight back to South Carolina. We ordered the butter chicken and the tikka masala chicken. The servings are enormous. Both dishes were so delicious that we decided to take the leftovers with us - through airport security, stuffed in our hand bags. It was worth it. Both dishes were just as delicious the next day. The service was okay. The restaurant is small and space is limited. But the food is worth it. My only minor criticism is that the rice was over cooked and a little dry. But otherwise, we'll make a point to stop by whenever we're in the area.

Yelp
This used to be a good restaurant just a few months ago. This was the go to place of blue collar nepali workers and students. This was not a place to go on a date for sure ..and tbh we liked it that way ..cheap , fast local yet very good food. The price was very reasonable and the food felt very authentic and nepali. However, few months ago something happened and their food quality went down big time , mushy momo , stale looking thali and to top it off the increased the price of everything. Yesterday we ate 2 steam chicken momo , and a chatpatti and paid 38 dollars something. The chatpatte was 15 dollars. The whole idea of chatpatte is meant to be a cheap street food. I hope they realize that because i rarely see nepali people wanting to go there.
google avatar

K C.

Yelp
4.5 stars so far! I recommend to try their round-shaped chicken momo, which is so flavorful and not overly spiced. Their milk tea and mango lassi are the best I have ever had in the area. The home made yogurt is most likely the best yogurt I have ever had. They have free wifi, open until late night (2 am), and serve the best Nepali food in the area. I drive 15 miles just to get their food and drink. It's that good. The con is consistency. Sometimes they play awesome background music and other time it's dead silence...a little awkward. Menus are a bit confusing. They have multiple menus with different prices for same item. Last time I stopped by, on a cold day with 40 degrees outside, the inside was pretty much the same temperature. Freaking freezing. Could not stay for long. Once I see any improvements, I will update this review. It's tucked away behind a gas station.
google avatar

Yelp
Girls at the counter are really sweet. Amazing Curry for price and quality. Mango lassi is really good, so are appetizers. Restaurant is always packed!

Yelp
Food was amazing! Authentic amazing fabulousness. No alcohol is served but you can bring into restaurant and consume will definitely be coming back

Yelp
Really great momo's really reminds me of delhi... really loved it ..!! Chicken and veg momo's both are a must try.

Yelp
Best Nepali food in town! Chatpate was great and they have the most delicious mo:mo / dumplings!!

Birat S.

Yelp
Catering Experience: ordered food for wedding. Great experience. Best aloo ko achar. Tried momocha and was very good. Nice meat to flour ratio. Samosa chaat was very good. Jerry Puri was OK. Chowmein was nepali style. Very fried. I like mine little soggy so thought was OK. Jhol momo achar is always the best. Use of authentic nepali spices make everything taste very good. Takeout experience: very good. Nice packaging. Ask them to wrap with plastic and they will so your food is warm and still. Dine-in experience: the waiters ALWAYS start with 'what do you want' and not 'how are you' but the owner is always there. Very welcoming and friendly guy. Knows bunch of his customers and make sure everyone leaves the store happy. He also does free sample for regulars. HAPPY HOUR in the evening is always a plus. 15% off during dinnertime.
google avatar

Bryan M.

Yelp
So much flavor, service was great, portions were even greater. Will definitely come back over and over again.

Mike A.

Yelp
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN LISTEN. if you like Indian food. This is NOT the place to go. I'm currently blowing up my toilet with absolute dirt food which was not even worth a penny. The tikka masala tastes like sweet tomato soup. Luckily I like tomato soup so I'm not complaining. The samosa chaat? Worst samosa chaat I have EVER had in my life I took in bite and almost puked. Lemon and water and soggy samosa? It was horrendous. I was still charged and when I complained about the samosa chaat. She persisted to defend it. And say that's how you cook it. That is NOT how you cook samosa chaat Terrible service terrible food. All around terrible restaurant

Abishek C.

Yelp
Zero stars . Piece of steel scrubber came along with momo. This is the second time with me. In the first instance it was strand of long hair. I gave them second chance but they are still not carefull enough. How can A piece of steel scrubber can come in the momo box? This is utter negligence. I am not going to eat at this place ever again and recommend all to do the same. I wonder how are they passing the inspection? I will definitely complain at concerned party for inspection.
google avatar

Sonnam S.

Yelp
I'm not happy to rate the lowest and make such a review, but as a customer, I need to let the management know about the quality of food they been serving. I love kabab and curry, their food and service. It wasn't the first time I got mo:mo as in the image. I even called the restaurant a few times and told the server about the food and didn't ask for much but just to let the chef know about it. Mo:mo was dry and one time there was no salt at all for keema. The chef forgot to add salt, I suppose. Yet I chose to order from them, but I'm not sure about the days ahead. If they keep serving food like that then I won't. I really hope the owner gets to see the review and try to serve better quality food to their customers in the coming days.

Yelp
I tried selroti after a long time! It was amazing! I tried beef chilly . It was surprisingly yummy. Great food with good price!

Xay S.

Yelp
Service here is terrible. We ordered not spicy on both of our entrees , and they made both entrees spicy. I couldn't even eat my food. Took 2 bites and stopped eating. And when I went up to pay for my food and told the waiter/cashier that. She said "it doesn't matter , this is a Nepalese Restaurant, we cannot make the food not spicy. Do you want ketchup to put on the Noodles or I can get you another mango drink ?" I'm like - why the hell would I want some ketchup ?!! I said, "you should've told me that when I ordered from you when I said no spicy. Lady, I own a Thai restaurant. I make spicy food. And when the customers ask for No Spicy, I don't make the food spicy. Simple.. Whatever, just ring up my total so I can get out of this rude place." Bottom line is the waiter most likely screwed up our order and didn't want to admit to her boss that she fkd up our order. The way that she went the extra mile to go out of her way and be rude about her own mistakes was beyond called for. Fkn rude 4ss people working there. What a waste of my time and my money

Sanjay S.

Yelp
Worst nepali food ever. Tried thali. Bad decision!!!. Not recommend at all. DONT TRY . Warning
google avatar

Lavanya J.

Yelp
This is a small cozy place with great food. I recently found this place but got to tell this is one of those hole in the wall restaurants. From the past 3 weeks we have been ordering To-go from this place and all of the dishes that we have tried is better than any other Indian places can offer and at a very reasonable price, quality and quantity. So far we have been repeating our orders of chicken 65(which they claim as the best in Irving), chicken biryani, mutton curry and rice, chicken lollipop, butter chicken and naan, and soup special of the day.

Vandana S.

Yelp
Visited this place with friends while I was visiting Dallas . Most amazing Indian flavors they have in their food . Living in the usa for the past 7 years and the best Indian Chinese food I have eaten . Thank you guys for such an amazing experience. I might just visit Dallas again just to eat food again at your place . We ordered pakoras , very crispy, veg chow mein - will remind one of the chow mein we have in the streets in India .. aloo Manchuria was too good .
google avatar

Sabha K.

Yelp
Flavorful food. Lamb curry was exceptional. Choila was great as well. As usual momo is always awesome. What makes this place different is jeri and swari with masala tea. The only thing I would like to recommend to management is if they can improve food presenting skill it will be great because rice in dinner plate was not cool. Staff are friendly. Food is great though. If they improve food presentation I would have given 5 star. Price is reasonable as well.
google avatar

Amit F.

Yelp
prepare to wait for 30 mins for a order of momo on a wednesday evening. but the food was worth thewait.

Bishal A.

Yelp
I ordered medium spicy but it was too spicy. When we called them they said to bring the half eaten dish for replacement. I don't know more but I felt like they might serve that half eaten dish to other customer. Very bad customer service as well. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody else.
google avatar

Sonam G.

Yelp
If you are craving for sukute, aalu achar, momo, and chatpate, this is a place to stop by. Prices were very reasonable, and service was quick too, not like other Nepalese restaurants where it takes forever to get your food. I would surely visit again and again.
google avatar

Shrijan M.

Yelp
I ordered jhol momo ended up eating steamed one. Didn't know they called it jhol momo, and it wasn't fresh either.. Lastly customer service sucks, don't know what employee was proud about. First time last time

Pratik J.

Yelp
The Nepali food and biryanis are on point good serving portions, food tasted good too, and best part is it closes late.

Yelp
The food is bomb, esp sukuti chowmin and golo momo. The lady who picks the ph is too sweet her was of talking is so sweet and polite. I like the way how says "dijju" most of the times. This review is dedicated to the lady who picked the call today

Yelp
Got take out, chicken tikka masala & nan & rice. Super delicious!! Huge portions. Samosa also great & the momo have a delicious flavor. Great place to grab a quick bite that is full of flavor. My only "complaint" is that out of the several times in a row that I got the same dish, it never tasted the same. Each time it was a little different, never bad at all just very different, like someone different was cooking each time
