Irving Street Tapas Wants to Become Portland’s Most Affordable Small Plates Spot - Eater Portland

"Throughout their careers, Piattino and Lovejoy Bakers owners Ajay Narayan and Paresh Warke have dabbled in a wide array of cuisines. Between the two of them, they’ve cooked in Michelin-starred kitchens in France, hotels in the Caribbean, homes in Bangalore, restaurants in Mumbai. So instead of choosing one cuisine for their new restaurant, they decided to try to capture them all. 'The idea is, what is the ‘tapa’ for any culture?' Narayan says. For Narayan and Warke’s new Pearl District restaurant, Irving Street Tapas, that lengthy list includes things like calamari in harissa aioli, samosas, steak in chimichurri or wasabi butter sauce, or Greek yemista — all served for under $10 each." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Our waitress was so wonderful and so kind. The food looked great but tasted sad and lacking seasoning. It would have been so much better with just some salt and pepper. The place looks so great but was pretty empty on a Friday night. My husband and I were wondering why it was so empty but after eating the food we understood. The crabcakes smelt like old fish and looked and tasted like they were deep fried. We got all the sauces on the side and we were so glad we did because they were not good. I think this place could be great with just a bit more seasoning. This was my first restaurant where I added salt and pepper to all my good.

Google
Great spot to people watch during First Thursday! Absolutely Terrible food. Ordered the Peri Peri Chicken and the Beets and Burtata. Both tasted like it came from a can and expired jar of sauces. The canned beer was good!

Google
Wow, what a disappointment! Over over OVER priced! The server was not good at all, didn't seem to know much about the menu, service was slow and billed us for stuff we didn't order. Food came out in shifts, not all at once. Food was decent, decent not spectacular, just decent. Servers clearly had somewhere to be, because they close at 9 and were clearing the table and definitely pushing us out the door. I would never go there again.

I went to Irving Street Tapas on July 3rd for dinner. The food was delicious and they provided attentive and courteous service even on a busy night.

Google
Food was ok, great service we sat by the fireplace food was good needs more sauce mushrooms were a bit bland overall filling shrimp as light and tasty the winner of the night was the beef samosas!

Google
The bartender was AMAZING! Would highly recommend. Our waitress was so pleasant and such a joy. Will be visiting here soon!

We are from Charleston SC. We loved the food and the service by Mark was excellent. You have to visit this place it is really good. Beautiful atmosphere and service is great! But the food is excellent and a lot of it. If we lived here we would come in regularly. Next time in Portland will definitely come here.

Google
Great place to enjoy a family celebration. We had about 20 in our group, with most of us from out of town. We had young children as well as vegetarian and meat eaters. The diverse tapas selections and smaller food portions were perfect. The Shishito Peppers were awesome, I could have eaten an entire plate on my own! Also, Paresh who helped me arrange the reservation was super helpful in meeting our needs. The seating area was great and the only unexpected thing was that the dining area is open to the outside and was not air conditioned which made it uncomfortable. The open atmosphere would have been fine if not for the 85 degrees outside.

Yelp
Okay, the positives. The bartender was nice and served good drinks ...however, we didn't get an opportunity to order any more because our wait staff never came back to ask us if we wanted anything! Drinks were empty for a long time and we were ghosted. Other positive- beautiful space. You could probably show up with no reservations on the weekend. It was a weird experience, honestly. Place was dead for a Friday night. The menu is "international" but the portions were all over the place. My friends ordered the barbecue chicken and it was the biggest chicken thigh I'd ever seen. Bone-in. Entree sized. We also ordered the gyoza and it only came with 5 total. The salad was small and barely dressed. There are only 2 vegetable items on the menu. The service was so bad. I had a reservation and the table wasn't set for 3. My friends had arrived before me so I came in and sat down with them but waited for 10 minutes to be greeted. Took a while to order. Our menu was taken away and we never got an opportunity to order more, which is how most tapas places operate. We were waiting for so long to pay. We kept wondering what we did to offend our waitress that she was avoiding us. In the end I had eaten too much calimari because I was still hungry and I didn't even like it. We ended up walking down to Olive Or Twist for a second drink and more food. Oh well!

Yelp
Very large space with multiple seating options. Booths along the parameter, tables of various sizes in the interior, a great bar set up with comfy chairs and a foot rest, so important, and a cozy seating nook in front of a fireplace - grab this if you can! Menu is quite large, a variety of tapas meant for sharing. What sets Irving Street Tapas apart is the multi international offerings. Not just small plates from Spain, which is the usual, but offerings from India, Africa, Argentina, Japan, Italy and more. The common denominator seems to be spice, very spicy! Be aware when ordering. We shared the spicy edamame, a very interesting take on a dish that typically comes just salted. I'd definitely get these again! Next came the spicy paneer, Indian cheese cubed and stir fried with sweet red peppers and other veggies, served along side jasmine rice. This dish as super spicy! We were two fisting our water and wine! To give our palette a break, we then ordered the Argentine steak with chimichurri and a plate of the patatas brava (potatoes.) The steak was a little tough, wish it had been marinated longer to give it more flavor. The potatoes were cooked perfectly, crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. The sauce was surprisingly light in flavor, especially compared to the first two tapas we ordered. We couldn't decide on dessert but knew we wanted something sweet to end the meal. We decided to get both the tiramisu, which was excellent, and cannoli that took a unique spin on the ricotta filling by adding a hint of cardamom. Very nice. We took our time with our meal, enjoying cocktails and wine. We were never rushed and the various waitstaff that took and brought our orders, were all delightful. The owner even stopped by our table to say hello and check on us to see if we were enjoying the food. It was a cold Wednesday evening and it was also very chilly inside the restaurant. The space is huge so probably expensive to heat, and on a week eight where there were a lot of people, but far from a full house, it was cold. We kept our coats on for the first hour. Irving Street Tapas would be an excellent choice for 4 or more people so you can share a large variety of plates. It was good for two, but 4 dishes were plenty. Parking can be a challenge in this part of downtown especially on a weekend.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were in a restaurant hopping kind of vibe, so we really wanted to check this spot out since it specialized in tapas! Inside is very lively, with bright lighting and plenty of seating. Although I think the ambiance would have been perfect if it was a bit dimmer, it's still great for big parties! They have a fairly diverse menu too; with food ranging from typical American bites to some Asian foods. We got a mix of both: chili garlic edamame, peppered mushrooms, calamari, egg rolls, and crab cakes. Everything was alright--not great for a nice date night, but good to go with friends on a casual night. Our server was super amazing though--super sweet and I had a great time because of her. I would definitely be open to coming back to try some other items on the menu that I heard had good reviews!

Yelp
We love this beautiful maintained great ambiance. There service is excellent and so is food. Last Wednesday we hung out there despite pouring rain. They were serving complimentary Spring rolls Lumpia a cuisine from Phillipines. It was very delicious. And so was the Salmon Cakes and Lamb curry. Thank you Mark, Michael and Paresh.

Yelp
I was impressed with the quality of food items delivered to the table for a broadly international menu. As a first-timer to IST, I confidently say I would return. Depending on the season, entering this space is probably a very different experience. I came here in winter, when the outdoor patio is non-operational and the large foldable doors and windows were closed. I can imagine this place pops off during the spring-fall months. In winter, we were seated very fast, and were able to get a private booth. The staff are very attentive and will provide excellent recommendations. The drinks are not as good as those of other bars nearby, but remember that this is a Tapas-focused restaurant - not a bar like Below. After accepting recommendations for tapas from our server, we enjoyed a few drinks despite their off-portion. The food came relatively fast, and I was very excited to see how nicely the plates were presented. Tapas can be erratic, but, here quality is the guarantee. My only issue with the experience is that there was a lot of food leftover, which, we should have predicted. I hate letting things go to waste, but, thankfully my guest took items home.

Yelp
I actually really enjoyed our experience here. Very cool interior, service was fast, and the food was tasty and reasonably priced ($55 for three tapas and two cocktails). We'll definitely return!

Yelp
Went on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty. We were seated immediately. The place has a nice vibe to it. We ordered the pastrami patata bravas, ported peppered mushroom, paneer masala and peri peri chicken. The potatoes and mushroom were a good as any I have had. The paneer masala was disappointing though, not very flavorful. Same with the chicken.

Yelp
It was funny, we left a pub to go to dinner at Irving Street Tapas and the bartender asked us where we were going. When we told him, he responded "you'll get better service here." We should have listened! I mean, for the money it wasn't awful, but it wasn't anything great either. First we got the calamari. While it was cooked correctly, it tasted like the deep fryer oil needed changed. It had a kind of burnt taste to it. The potatoes were just ok. The kind you'd expect from a diner. The meatballs were cooked correctly by were under seasoned. We had ordered samosas but they didn't come until we asked about them. Apparently the order wasn't put in. We ordered two deserts to go. The cheesecake was pretty tasty but the peach crisp was a small meager spoonful. I laughed when I opened the box. Other notes: no one greeted us at the door and we stood there for awhile until someone came out. Though the place was empty, we were seated at a booth with a torn cushion badly "fixed" with duct tape. So fun to be stuck to your chair. The cocktails were pretty good actually. Apart from the miscue with the samosas the service was pretty good. I know this place hosts events and there was one happening while we were there. I think maybe they should stick to that and not try to do both catering and running a restaurant. No one thanked us on the way out as there was still no host. We won't be back. Too many other amazing places to eat in PDX. We went back to the pub and got wings.

Yelp
This review is a bit hard to swallow... because I really went in, loving the vibe and ambiance. I saw the prior Yelp reviews but thought... can't be that bad. Starting with the positive was our server, Vanessa. she was friendly and exuded warmth. Very attentive and solid. From there it went a bit downhill... Tap water - avoid it. Not good. Cocktails: Hot toddy - bland and lacking in everything that makes the Hot Toddy comforting on a cold day. Possibly the not so great tasting tap water did it. Spiced orange old fashioned - a little too orangey but not bad. Prefer regular old fashioned Stratton - interesting and ok but not sure he liked it Old fashioned - missing cherries 5/6 times - Nuff said. better than with the Spiced Orange. Food - presentation was nice but flavor very lacking across all the dishes. Esp difficult because I've experienced amazing tapas restaurants with explosions of flavor and texture, so was def disappointed. The fact this was also Asian-fusion tapas - I def had high hopes... Crab cakes - 2/5 - hmmm not the best and seemingly not fresh Croquettes - 2/5 not very flavorful - very little filling, which might be okay, if it had flavor to complete the bite. Crunchy texture of the surrounding croquette but again, not much flavor. Miso soup 1/5 - too salty and maybe soy sauce? might explain the dark color. tofu is def frozen, not tender Patatas Bravas - 3/5 Chimichurri steak - 3.5/5 ok - got cold fast. Chimichurri flavor is good and def made the dish. Steak was prepared perfectly Mushrooms - salty but good 3.5/5 Gambas - 2.5/5 ok but I've had better Chashu - 2.5 5 decently good Potstickers - 2.5 / 5good but salty Meat pinchos - 3/5 cold cuts on bread lol Mujaddara - 2/5 cold and bland

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place, as it is International Tapas, which is my favorite way to eat. Sadly, there were just two many things that feel short, right out of the gate. It started where we were sat, which was a booth against the back wall. The chairs of the booth were torn. When this is the first impression, it makes you wonder "what else might they might be slacking on." The overall impression of the restaurant is gorgeous. We order 6 different dishes, and the only real stand out was the Mujaddara. It had tons of flavor, but that was the only dish that did. Everything else was rather bland and uninteresting.I didn't even take any pictures as nothing was photo worthy. Not to mention, the mussels and claims we had tasted were rubbery, like they were either overcooked or not fresh. The one highlight was the staff. Everyone was friendly and kind. I would guess it was the owner, but he came around multiple times to check up on us.

Yelp
This is our wonderful go to spot for Tapas especially when entertaining out of town guests. Family friendly. Quick, courteous service. It is Tapas, but with a dash of Indian flavor to make things interesting. Small dishes we always get: The steak chimichurri is fantastic. Patatas bravas and calamari are kid favorites. Peri peri chicken is tangy and delicious. Vegan Samosas are also popular at our table. If you have more time you can order the Paella, also available in vegan. If you luck out you may stumble into a live performance like we did last Diwali where singers from India brought a delightful voice to the evening. It truly is a trip around the world at Irving Street Tapas. Live a little. Eat out.

Yelp
Just yum! Tasty meat and vegetarian options. Friendly wait staff. The interior kitsch was just right.

Yelp
Got to try a few items from their catering and their selection is pretty diverse, from sandwiches to Ethiopian dishes! The Steak Chimmichuri Sandwich was tasty and the meat was nice and tender; super high quality. Similarly, their Chicken Sandwich was also very delicious. Chicken has a nice texture to it and the harissa aioli tied everything together really well. Got to also try some Ethiopian food from their catering and was very surprised that they do that plus it was really good! Injera was nice and soft. Steak bites were, again, very tender. The meatballs and tofus were also very flavorful. Considered me impressed!

Kim K.

Yelp
Ate here last night. Food was not good. Either so bland it had no flavor or super spicy. I would skip this place. It's sad too because the space is as once a gorgeous restaurant- Bay13.

Yelp
We went there with a large group of 11 people for brunch this Saturday morning. We were the only ones in there, which was really surprising on a Saturday morning of a holiday but they were wonderful. I would highly recommend this place for brunch. They have a expensive menu and friendly service. My shakshuka eggs was delicious and everyone loved their Japanese's pancakes. I hope that more people start to patronize as it's a large space and great food.

Yelp
We love Tapas and are always excited to try new places .This place fell short on a few things and did some good. The Good - The space is beautiful and huge .Different seating options and a very modern yet intimate vibe . The service was perfect . The server was friendly and very accommodating of our requests and checked on us often . The drinks were good and could have been a great accompaniment to the food . I loved my Monochromaniac-just the right amount of sweet and booze. The bad - The food was extremely disappointing . Every menu item that we ordered was just not appetizing and we had to unwillingly just leave it . If the small portions like Tapas are something that you struggle to finish then that is a red sign for me .We had the steak chimchuri ,Peri-Peri chicken and The Croquettes . Everything was under-seasoned and lacking flavor. Both the meat dishes were chewy and just straight up either undercooked or reheated from frozen . We let our server know ,when she asked us our feedback and she was very understanding of what we had to say . I sincerely hope they can up their food game ,as we would love to return to this beautiful spot .

Jessica N.

Yelp
I highly highly recommend Irving Street Tapas. The food is fantastic, and the cocktails are flavor forward. The service is delightful (special shout out to the bartender, Micah). The ambiance is warm and cozy even though it's a large space, even the music is wonderful! There were two couples that even got up to slow dance, which completely melted my heart. All around 5-star, great night!! Thank you IST!!

Yelp
This was my first time at Irving Street Tapas and it was excellent - every dish we ordered was delicious - loved the lamb curry - we loved the food and the drinks were well mixed and tasty! I brought a friend who is vegetarian and they had many options for her to enjoy. Trevor our waiter was AMAZING - friendly and helpful - he even recommended a neighborhood spot where we could get a nightcap after we finished our dinner. The ambiance was warm and inviting. I will definitely dine here again. Highly recommended!!
google avatar

Tiffany H.

Yelp
Ordered delivery and the order was late and most of it was cold. One item was missing entirely and the patatas bravas was missing the sauce, so they were just potatoes. Portion sizes were on the small side for most items such as the very small fry bread, which since it was cold was chewy. The croquettes had a tiny amount of meat and had no flavor. The Korean "wings", which are legs, had a decent flavor but seemed to be pre-cooked and then reheated given the texture (which we suspected may be the case for several items). I think the menu has too much going on- Spanish, Korean, native, Caribbean, it's all over the place and I think due to the too varying menu, none of it is done well.
google avatar

Jocelyn K.

Yelp
Food was just ok. Absolutely every single dish needed salt. The croquettes tasted like nothing. The potato's bravas tasted like nothing... the lava cake was not worth the calories. The cocktails were good, but if you're a tapas restaurant those tapas better be on point. These, we're not. Probably won't return because the food was just not very good.... Will keep an eye out for possibly a new chef or menu. If you're reading this - go to LeChon. Best tapas restaurant in Portland. Save your money and make reservations now. You won't spend $60 and regret it.

Yelp
Came in here for dinner when where we wanted to was too busy. I normally read reviews but decided to be impulsive and give this place a shot. It should have been a sign when it was fairly empty on a Saturday night and there were plenty of tables open. Cocktails: their cocktails brought up the score and were delightful. I ordered the Pear N Mind and the Mariposa and both were pretty good. Not life changing but no complaints either. Tapas: we ordered a variety of tapas and were a little concerned with out quickly they came out, making them feel less fresh and cooked to order. The patatas bravas were bland and not as crispy as I'd like. The croquettes were better cooked but still fairly bland. Chasu pork had better flavor but was chewier than expected and the gyoza was fairly bland as well. The only redeeming part of the meal was the chimichurri steak which was both flavorful and cooked well. Overall for the price we paid, I left feeling unsatisfied.

Sanjit K.

Yelp
Went here on a First Thursday, and it was a mistake. They are short staffed, we waited 30 minutes for a drink. We offered to go to the liquor store to expedite the process. We ordered the paella, lamb kabobs, and Peri Peri chicken. The granache tempranillo bottle was solid, the service was super slow, the paella was dry, the lamb was the best bite, chicken was passable. Many better choices in PDX. Wish Irving St. Kitchen (same space) was so much better!!
google avatar

Abe I.

Yelp
I loved Irving Street Kitchen. This was a huge let down. Every dish that came looked ok, but as soon as we took a bite we were let down. The tapas were very unfocused and seemed bland. I would have preferred fewer offerings that were more focused on a region or idea and have those be good.
google avatar

Stephen K.

Yelp
Our service staff was excellent and went out of their way to make our dinner enjoyable. Our favorite was the chimmichuri steak. The ahi tuna was prepared perfectly.
google avatar

Krissy H.

Yelp
Our server Vanessa was amazing with great food recommendations that we really enjoyed along with a nice bubbly personality that made us feel welcome. The place was clean with a nice atmosphere inside and out, they had live music which was a treat as well. I apologize I did not get a picture of our food it was a nice presentation. We had mushrooms, steak bites with chimichurri sauce and lamb with curry, perfect size tapas.
google avatar

Matthew C.

Yelp
Unfortunately this place was just OK. The server was sweet, very friendly and always available. Where they really lose points is the food. Some of it didn't taste as if it was very well balanced, sometimes I almost wondered if it was premade and just put together and served. All in all, definitely nothing bad, but nothing that exciting, especially considering the prices for what you get. Not entirely sure that we will be back, but again redeeming factor really was the server who was friendly and bubbly. They also allow pets and outside!
google avatar

Brytannie M.

Yelp
Terrible. From the food to the service this place memorably atrocious. Servers were SO rude .... and echoing the sentiment from others, the food was underwhelming and tasteless. Portland food has so much to offer, this place is not it. Miss the old Irving Kitchen!
google avatar

Yelp
TL;DR: So intimate and romantic! What a cute place!! I was able to snag a 7pm reservation the day of my Friday visit. I went here with two friends and it was a fun time. You know by the name to expect small plates, but they are all reasonably priced and designed to share. All the staff members I encountered were very friendly and helpful. We ordered a Guava blossom, the shrimp, edamame, croquettes, gyoza, and lentil soup. It was all good! Tasty with some fun twists. The atmosphere feels so intimate, warm, and romantic. I want to come back here for a date night! Had a good time and look forward to coming back soon.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best tapas spots I've been to. Not many tapa spots in Portland, so this one is a must try! Prices are reasonable and our server Sarah was absolutely amazing. Had the best recommendations and was very friendly! I ordered a bunch but this can definitely be split between 2-3 people. Go big or go home! 1. The chimichurri steak was sooo flavorful and delicious. Make sure they cook that medium rare. You'll want all the juices and flavors bursting in your mouth with that chimichurri sauce. 2. The camarones al ajillo so buttery and melts in your mouth. The shrimp isn't fishy and is super fresh! Don't forget to soak that toasted buttery bread in that butter garlic sauce. 3. The croquettes were delicious! The perfect amount of crunch and definitely not oily. The croquette consists of ham and cheese which is the perfect amount of taste. That sauce drizzled on it (not sure what it is) compliments the croquette. 4. The patatas bravas were delicious however I wish they could be a little crispier. That's just my preference though. 5. Order the charcuteries board. We got the Cana de Oveja, Prosciutto di Parma, and smoked Gouda. All three of these is the perfect combination. 4. Drinks!!! The Agua Valencia is perfect for a warm summer night and so is the Spritz Veneziano (which is on the lighter side). I'll def be coming back for the other recommendations which are the peppers, ahi tuna, the chasu, and the edamame! Thank you Irving Street Kitchen for bringing some diversity in this neighborhood with your delicious variety!

Anikka H.

Yelp
The restaurant was cold, the food & plates were cold. We left in the middle of dinner before we received everything that we had ordered.

Steven M.

Yelp
Not going back. The food quality was mediocre at best. The gyoza were not cooked thoroughly, with raw dough apparent. The Peri Peri. Chicken was tough and overcooked. For their prices, the food should be much better. We had a table of 18 and for the food we ordered the cost was $800. The gathering was for a birthday and we brought a cake to celebrate. When we arrived we were told there was a "cake-age fee" of $10 per person . What? So they were going to charge $180 to serve a birthday cake? I can understand a small fee for using their plates, but a per person fee? When a bottle of whine is brought a corkage fee isn't per person, it's by the bottle. They eventually walked back the cake-age fee to $20, but for the value of our bill I would have expected the whole fee to be waived. Especially with how empty their business was. They should have appreciated the large gathering, but the management was not service oriented. After pointing out issues with some of the food, they comped us 2 of the gyoza, when all 5 orders should have been sent back.
google avatar

Martin W.

Yelp
Then place looks nice and the hist was friendly and said yes we are open while some lady came from the back and said "no sorry we are closed" - obviously the manager. Well it is 9pm on Yelp it says open til 10pm - so they better change the times and inform their lively host about it. Maybe I'll give them a second try one day and hopefully can correct this rather unusual rating from me - which is solely not based on food but customer service experience.

Yelp
Gosh... I don't even know where to start. Our date night at Iriving Street Tapas over the weekend was so wonderful that come today, a Tuesday, I am still dreaming about it! I was on Yelp looking for a new place to go with my boyfriend for a date and when I came across a cute new tapas restaurant, I jumped on it! I made a reservation online to ensure we wouldn't have much of a wait on a Friday night. When we arrived they were BUSY! They seemed to have room for walk-ins but I am definitely happy we made a reservation. We were seated on the right side of the bar, closer to the kitchen. Our server was super attentive and we started ordering almost right away! For drinks, my boyfriend got an old fashioned and I got the agua valencia (which had vodka, cava, and orange juice). Both were really delicious! But now... let's talk the tapas! Of course we ordered a bunch to share! I'd say each tapas is the perfect size for two people to share, so if you have more in your party, definitely consider ordering double of a couple of the dishes. We got: - Steak Chimichurri x2 (it was that good!) - Calamari - Croquettes - Wasabi Steak - Burrata Stack - Gambas al Ajillo - Lentil Soup - Italian Style Meatballs Honestly, everything was so delicious. But if I had to pick... my top favorites were the steak chimichurri, burrata stack, and the wasabi steak. And pro tip: lots of the dishes come with bread... take that bread and dip it in the garlic butter wine sauce that come with the shrimp! Least favorite dish: croquettes. And only because they needed a dipping sauce in my opinion. Will definitely be back!

Love the concept of smaller plates, which allows us to try more menu options. We ordered the Burrata, Shrimp, Samosas, and Potatoes bravo. Burrata was very good and tasted fresh. Samosas we're very crispy and tasted authentic, but I would recommend replacing the brava sauce for a classic tamarind sauce. In my opinion, the brava sauce was kind of bland and didn't do very much for me. Overall, food was very good. Drinks were good as well. The accompanying sauces could use a little work.

Yelp
Amazing food and experience! Every time I've come its exceeded my expectations. Cameron has gone above and beyond as our server. We'll be back soon again!!

Yelp
Should have taken the hint when we walked into this place on a Friday night and it had less than 10 people in there, it's a large space. Most of the food came out cold and dry as if it were prepared in advance and nuked in a microwave. I do appreciate that the manager/owner tried to change our experience for the better by comping the cold dishes and offering a replacement, but then I realized he cancelled my open table reservation, I believe in an attempt to keep me from writing an honest review and to collect my reservation points. There are so many beautiful restaurants in that area, I suggest spending money elsewhere.

Yelp
we really enjoyed our tapas. I am just recalling our dinner from off the top of my head; hot apple cider - we ordered it non-alcoholic - this was delicious, perfect for a cold night. For the tapas we had; peri peri chicken - tasty and tender, I wish the sauce was hotter, but it was good. chimichurri steak - delicious potatoes Brava (sp?) warm and crispy, potato-y and filling, nice kicky sauce. Cretan Salad - delicious, salad served on bread, very satisfying chimichurri steak - delicious very tiny portion. When you can get a fry bread the size of your head at Warm Springs for about the same price. but it was good, the slaw that came with it was amazing We split the tiramisu and the ice cream brownie for desert- both good. Good service - very pleasant and helpful staff.

Yelp
Quite enjoyed tapas and drinks here the other night. We came towards the end of First Thursday so the place was pretty crazy. The restaurant is huge, indoor and outdoor, so we were seated right away. Would've given 5 stars if not for the long wait time (about 15-20 minutes before we were first approached at the table). But no hate on the staff, it seemed like a very busy night & perhaps they were understaffed. Once we were helped, the staff were very apologetic and kind, brought out or food and drinks almost instantly--we ordered 3 apps, all were delicious. I'd recommend the chimichuri steak, calamari was delicious as well. I also loved my drink, the Mariposa, simple but memorable!! Still thinking about it days. My friend ordered the Persephone, that was also great--you might be able to tell we like juicy cocktails (and they delivered). Would definitely comeback & sit outside on a nice day.

Yelp
Only giving 3 stars is a tough one for me, but I appreciate honest reviews from others and I give out honest reviews myself. The restaurant is set up wonderfully, great atmosphere and the staff is very nice! But our New Years dinner out was not what we were hoping for, neither were the drinks. We ordered the flight, 4 glasses showcasing 4 of their signature drinks I believe. After 2/3 sips my husband said, there's no alcohol in these. I said, no, I tasted it, there is! Hmmm... all 4 drinks later I realized I must have imagined it because I tasted nothing. The drinks altogether weren't that impressive. One stood out but the server couldn't tell us which drink was which, so we have no idea which one was the best. Then we ordered about 7 tapas plates. Most, had no flavor. The calamari was the only one to taste good, along with the dipping sauce. I hope the chef sees the honesty in our reviews and tries to add spices and flavor to the nice assortment of plates they are offering!! I would try them again if I knew they heard our wishes

Yelp
I was pretty surprised at how mediocre this place is compared to the rest of the tapas places around town. The only plate that wasn't underwhelming was the calamari because it was super crispy. Patatas bravas are basically smothered in ketchup. The wasabi wagu we ordered was either the wrong order (pretty sure it was the chimichurri steak) or very boring wasabi. Samosas are an insulting to all Indians with the lack of spice Drinks were not great either. Lavender lemonade was missing the lavender flavor but it was purple so I guess that was it? Probably will not return unless I get dragged there by friends.

Yelp
Parking was decent but good luck. I got lucky and parked nearby. The restaurant is nice and large. I couldn't figure out the food but it is tapas style and we definitely shared. We were here for my wife's birthday and the lady serving us did an excellent job.

Yelp
We felt like tapas so we looked online. This place was near where we were going in Portland. So glad we chose this place. The food was amazing. We had shrimp, risotto, pork, mussels and clams and tirmisu . All of it was delightful. They make a bread in house that is grainy and wholesome but still soft and full of flavor. He let me buy some before we left. We will be back and we highly recommend you try it as well. Service was wonderful and the owner was delightful

Yelp
Food was amazing, drinks were amazing! They have a cocktail flight consisting of 4 different drinks what are all pretty tasty. An adorable date spot! We will be coming back :)

Yelp
This was by far the worst dining experience I've ever had. The food was just so terrible. I ordered the "burrata stack" which was just a large ball of mozzarella, no burrata in sight. I also got some over cooked meat that was rubbery, and a salad that New Seasons would have done better. I will say that the waitress was nice--they were clearly over booked and she was working hard. They had a million reservations open but they were packed and very clearly struggling to seat a large amount of guests when we arrived. I just can't get past how bad this food was. I'm convinced it was frozen and warmed because it came out about two minutes after we ordered. I've never been to a restaurant where I hated every single thing that I ordered, usually I can at least get a good drink but even the drink was bland.

Yelp
Very underwhelming. The decor looks great, but that's about where it ended for us. As we sat down and looked at the menu we had taken some time to plan out what our first few plates would be, our waitress checked in a couple times and neglected to inform us that they were out of bread until we were ready to order. Oh, and like 6 other dishes on the small-ish menu were also unavailable. Would've been nice to know that before we were ready to order, but whatever. Being out of bread was a bummer because bread was on about 20% of the menu, and when you're talking about tapas, that can be half of what is one the plate! So anyways, we took a couple minutes to readjust and pick something else. We decided on a salad, meatballs, and stuffed peppers to start. The "salad" was much more like bruschetta, and not very good at that. Weird. So we move onto the stuffed peppers. Aside from being pretty small portion (especially for $9) the peppers were basically raw - maybe they spent like 20 seconds under a broiler but that's about it. Then it was stuffed with rice and feta - both quite dry. Really unimpressive. Then we got to the meatballs, where the tomato sauce tasted pretty good and fresh, but the meatballs were dense and pretty bland - they really tasted like store bought frozen meatballs. Even the parmaesan cheese on top appeared to be the pre bought pre shredded stuff from the store. Yikes. Definitely not worth the price for these plates. We had issues with both the descriptions of the dishes as well as the execution. It really felt like a ripoff at that point, so we paid our bill and left to go to another restaurant. How disappointing. We certainly won't be returning.

Yelp
Where to begin, beautiful interior. The decor was cool. Our server was awesome, unfortunately that's where it ends. We ordered the steak chimichurri, chicharonnes, edamame, and the pork belly. You know your food is going to be fantastic when you see the line cooks pulling their masks down to shovel food into their faces. Did not appear that any sort of sanitation was occurring. Disturbing to say the least! I'm not sure if it was the steak or the chimichurri one of them just tasted off. Chicharonnes are supposed to be a crunch then almost melt in your mouth deliciousness. These were crunch then rock hard pieces you couldn't chew. Fortunately neither of us broke a tooth! The edamame was deep fried or something, it was honestly the best of our order, but super oily and not really appealing. The pork belly would have been good except for the sauce. Bartender was good, server was good, I'll still never go back.

Yelp
Terrible restaurant experience. The food was bad and the service was even worse. The servers were rude and had no idea how to handle a large party that was booked well in advance. We were also overcharged, so check your statements! Take your business elsewhere - Portland has such great food, but you won't find it here.

Yelp
The food is always excellent, the staff is attentive and helpful & the ambiance is understated elegance.

Yelp
Truly the worst dining experience and overall customer experience of my life. Average food at best, rude servers, and terrible management. Servers were MIA and rude. Repeatedly were told we could only order from our singular server, but they were nowhere to be found, and when we did order, they messed up the order or didn't bring everything. They accused one of our friends at the table of being unruly within the restaurant, when they had been outside on a phone call the entire time. It was ridiculous and they would not reason with us. Food was average. Portland is such a foodie city, there are million better options out there. In addition to all the above, when we tried to reach out to work with management to fix it, they would not communicate. Not over email, not in person, nothing. They should be embarrassed, but based on their behavior during and after the fact, I don't imagine they are. Do not go to this restaurant; your money is better spent elsewhere
