Isaac Newton's Bar & Restaurant

Isaac Newton's is not a pleasurable dining experience. The food is ok, maybe even a few things very good, however, the owner is a haughty curmudgeon and makes the entire experience not worth it in any way. Over the last few years, I would forget about the prior negative experience with this person and think, "maybe it's better" or "maybe he won't be around." The most recent visit, he was working the front and he acted as though he was doing me a gigantic favor getting my takeout order, along with speaking to his teen female worker as if she were a serf. Guess what, Chief, your food isn't that good and your barely hidden arrogance is absolutely breathtaking. If you haven't ever been here, do yourself a favor and walk one block to the Temperance House, where you will be greeted as if you are an old friend, welcomed into a friendly atmosphere with good food and friendly, old fashioned hospitality. ps: I don't work for any restaurants, I'm not related to anyone in restaurants and this review is probably five years or so in the making, with my last experience with Glenn being the straw that broke the camel's back and led me to finally sit and devote a final few minutes to Isaac Newton's as a memorial send off from one customer.

Loved our meal! Short rib grilled cheese and steak frite was fantastic! Also loved the blackened chicken, bacon and blue salad pictured. Great service and atmosphere. We come time and again and always enjoy our time here. Great beer selection.

Friendly atmosphere and attentive waitstaff. Everything else is off the rails. Overcooked hamburger, meat dry, and flavorless. Cooper American barely melted. Fries cold. Ordered an extra dry Beefeater martini. Received a cocktail shaker of mostly vermouth. My wife had an ok meatloaf with some well prepared vegetables. Did not seem that anybody was in charge but the place has been around so long that they must think it can run on autopilot. The kitchen really needs to be more attentive. my burger was really terrible.

Stopped by for a good bite to eat so we didn’t have to cook after a long day. Definitely the right option! We were able to walk in and be seats right away. They have a good drink selection and a lots of menu options especially burgers. We opted for a burger and the fish and chips. The best part is the old bay seasoned fries with the cheese side sauce. The food came out quickly and hot and our server was great. The atmosphere during the week is great; you can just unwind and relax.

Laid back atmosphere, great for kids. Looks like a great place to bring a large party as well. Food is delicious! We got Buffalo cauliflower Caesar salad, jerk chicken sandwich, Swiss burger, kids Mac n cheese (not Kraft!), and kids chicken tenders. Everyone left happy and full with enough left overs for lunch the next day!

The food and service was excellent. The fries were especially awesome.

Great pub with exceptional beer list. Our server, Amanda, was amazing-prompt, helpful, watchful and friendly. She made our dinner experience amazing! The burgers are delicious as they get the best quality meat delivered fresh. The French fries are perfectly cooked and not greasy. The bar has great ambiance. Fun place!

This was a great spot to grab some food before hitting the streets of Newtown. I will say, it seemed a little over priced for the amount of food you get, but it wasn’t too bad. The servers were super sweet, food came out fast, and the different options for seating were great! You could eat inside, outside, or at the bar. I’d definitely recommend stopping by on your next trip to Newtown. Give the pumpkin espresso martini a try!

I needed chili So I came here!! Delightful SAM took care of me and my bff. The best ice tea I have had all day! Fresh! And the sliced lemons are juicy! I enjoyed my meal . We both did!

I used to love this place, but it has been a long time since I have been here. Now I remember why. My thought is it caters to a younger crowd. We were party of five local ladies. First of all, the loud hard rock type music was horrible. It was 12 PM lunch. The few tables of customers were an older crowd...NOT the kind of music for the age of the guest. Seems like the music was selfishly more for the restaurant staff...not accommodating the customers. We had to shout over the music to have a conversation. We asked three or four times to please lower it, however, the music was so horrible even at a lower volume it wasn't much improvement. That alone would stop us from a return visit. Shame on them for creating such a horrible environment. Secondly, the food was fine, but not a "wow." I ordered the yuppie turkey brie sandwich. The description sounded delicious. It was disappointing when I received it. It tasted OK but could use improvement. For instance, the bread can make or break a sandwich. The bread used was a lackluster thin piece of wheat bread. Perhaps a ciabatta roll or multigrain bread would have made the sandwich more of a wow. My sandwich was cold...I think my sandwich should have been warm. The brie cheese was melted so it had to have been warm at some point. I would not order it again. Thirdly I was offered a choice of "fries or chips with coleslaw." I was not told the fries were an up-charge. It isn't about the few dollars...it was presented as a choice. "Up-charge" should have been mentioned. Two of us ordered the fries and our mouths were a tad on fire from the seasoning. Pretty sure they over seasoned the fries. The coleslaw and chips were the better choice. My friend found the burger to be dry and un-chewable. She should have sent it back but shoved it aside and didn't eat it. She gave it a few bites before giving up. She isn't one to complain. The coffee was terrible. Decaf apparently was worse. If you added cream to the coffee, it tasted like cream and water as the coffee was way too weak. On a good note the two salads with the blackened mahi-mahi seemed fine and the Ruben also fine. However, all of us decided this was a once and done. The horrible loud music alone was a deal breaker.

Visiting my middle son for some well needed time together, we popped into Isaac after a gym session at his workplace. Grab corner bar stools in a cozy well lit room. Nice local crowd enjoying the start of the weekend. Excellent craft draft menu, with a nice mix of styles. My son went with the Sly Fox Pils, I took the tenders suggestion for a juicy Veil Green Miata NEIPA. Both son and I had burgers. Really juicy, well seasoned, and cooked as ordered. Knocking off a star only because my son's bottom bun was so soggy it feel apart, and unknown to him, the candied bacon ended up actually being pork belly. Service was just right, and prices very reasonable. Will return probably on future visits.

Pleasantly surprised with Isaac Newton's I would describe the food as elevated bar food. What you would find pretty much anywhere just with a little extra pizzazz. Servers were attentive and we didn't have to wait long for a seat or for our food. We were there earlier in the day so it wasn't too noisy and it was quite a relaxing atmosphere. Everything was fresh and served hot. My only disappointment was that most of the tables were high tops, and I would prefer normal tables.

Great comfort food prepared right in a fun environment with friendly service! Almost forgot to mention the creative specialty drinks & the extensive tap beer list...just an all around good place!

Last night I got dinner at Isaac Newton's with a friend. It was a good experience. We had pretzel sticks as an appetizer and it came with yummy pub cheese and a spicy mustard. The pretzels were cooked well. I had a chicken Caesar wrap with French fries. The wrap was good, but the fries were amazing. They were spiced with some amazing spices that gave them a wonderful flavor. The shame was they were an extra $2.50 because normally the wrap comes with just chips. It also came with what was probably a Russian dressing, for some reason. I dipped my fries in it though, so it was all good. The restaurant was cutely decorated with apples everywhere to fit with the name of the restaurant. The waiters were very nice and timely. My only complaint would be that it was freezing inside and yesterday was not a hot day. Like I said it was a good restaurant.

Good food service and kid friendly. They were knowledgeable about gluten free items ! We will definitely go back

Have not been here in about 7 years. Seems like they gave up. Bad food, filthy bathrooms, filthy menu, greasy and nasty. ,Smells dirty. Food was meh. Just a very poor experience. Stay FAR away.

Old building with alot of style . Server was friendly and service was good. Food was good and prices were resonable. Got grilled chicken sandwich with grilled tomato, greens and fries. They also have a nice selection of craft beers. Not a bad place.

What do they do well? They are solid on cocktails and beer selection. The menu is extensive including vegan and vegetarian options. The menu is reasonably priced for the quality of food and portion offered. What requires work? The food is good but short of great. Additionally the service is average to below average. The waitstaff seems spread thin covering many tables. The symptom is hot food gets delivered minutes ahead of the plates, and other such circumstances. All in this is a good brewpub like place in downtown Newtown.

Had been going here for 20 yrs even before fire. My wife and adult daughter arrived around 7 PM on Thur. Not crowded, many tables were empty. They said to young man at desk that I would be joining them as a third. But had it just been the two of them they would have been seated and I could join them when I arrived . Because they said it was a party of 3 the guy said policy prohibited them from being seated though there were many empty tables. He nastily insisted they sit at the bar to wait. My wife, who never complains , was so upset with their hostile , stupid treatment she asked for a Manager. A woman manager came and was even nastier and refused to seat them. This seems systemic to this place not an exception. When I arrived we all sat at the bar and had dinner. Had they told me of this inappropriate treatment we would have left. They didn't want to ruin dinner and told me after. This arrogant , ridiculous treatment in the very competitive food/service industry is inexcusable. There are scores of restaurants in Newtown area and we will never return to Isaac Newtons and make sure we pass the word. Do not go there.

The owner and in this case host was so very abrupt and downright rude I should have left instead of followed HIS order " I said hi how are you tonight ?" He barked just follow this young man - it may be time for you sell seeing you forgot that it's a service with a smile business !! Don't worry I won't be back I like feeling welcomed and appreciated.

Okay most of my positive experience is just from the service. The lady was just so incredibly nice and I felt very welcomed. The food was really good. I got the pickle back burger and it was solid so no complaints there. If I could suggest one thing to the owner it would be to have an in-house dessert like an apple crumble or something- but I'm just a fan of themes I would highly recommend this place. It was a lot of fun, felt welcoming, and was classic American named after a British guy Definitely want to come back

Had guests over for the weekend, stopped to grab dinner here before heading to shop at Peddlers Village. Our server was great! Food was super tasty and great to share with a table of 5 of us. Definitely going to be a new spot for me.

Service was anything but. 4/14/24 Had reservation for 4. 3 of us at were at check in. We told a young female standing there that we had a reservation for 4. She asked where is the other person. We pointed to the other member of our party, who was was parking the car. She said very rudely, by tone of voice and a smirk, that it was policy that everyone has to be there. There was a party of three, young females, who were then taken to a table of 4 and seated. As she was taking them to the table, our other member came in. We pointed this out to the girl and she smiled, well it is our policy and he wasn't here. You'll have to wait. We waited 20 minutes for another table. Food was O.K. The girl at check-in should have some customer service skills training. Her rudeness, tone of voice, smirks and altitude left little to be desired. I don't think we will be returning.

Still one of our family's favorite spots to eat, not just in Newtown, but anywhere! Great food and service, and the best beer list in the area, hands down. Can't beat the Three B's Burger, and they have one of the best turkey burgers out there.

The food was delicious. Everything we had was good. The fried Brussels sprouts with steak was delish!

I visited the restaurant on a busy night, we were told the wait would be about an hour and I was pleasantly surprised when it was much quicker than that. The service was wonderful and the staff was friendly, but our food was mediocre. I had the Buffalo chicken flatbread and it could've used more time in the oven to crisp up. The menu was large and had plenty of options to chose from, including a gluten free menu. Upon getting the bill, I noticed a $6 non alcohol purchase included. I'm still unsure what this is or why it was included on the tab, but it would've been nice if our server mentioned this ahead of time. Lastly, the restaurant states that it is handicap accessible, but I found that to be untrue. The only way to access the restaurant is by using steps. Additionally, the bathrooms are down two narrow and steep set of steps. I would urge you to remove the handicap accessibility off your restaurant profile, as families with handicapped individuals, like mine, rely on those words being accurate.

Nestled in the middle of the historic and picturesque town of Newtown, PA which, in my opinion is among some of the nicest towns in the northeast. Isaac Newtons has been here as long as I can remember and is certainly a neighborhood staple. The restaurant has a rustic look and feel with a spacious bar area downstairs and plenty of tables to dine at upstairs. The menu is standard American fare and has something for everyone. They are also known for their extensive craft beer list serving up mostly local beers on tap. The menu can be hit or miss depending on what you order but the service is consistently 5 stars. They have taken some precautions to provide patrons with a safe feeling during the pandemic including fiberglass barriers separating the tables with plexiglass, no physical menus (QR codes), and putting silverware in plastic wrappers (I don't really get that one). However, they do not have a mask policy. I ordered the baked onion soup which was quite small for the $8.25 price tag but was very tasty. I also ordered the veggie chili which was disappointing as it tasted like marinara sauce with a few veggies and an inch thick coating of melted cheese on top. The Kale salad was a winner with super fresh dinosaur kale, candied walnuts, goat cheese, slices of fresh Granny Smith apple, and a delicious dressing as well as honey for some added sweetness that balanced out the salad. Initially they brought it out with a big grilled chicken breast on top that a vegetarian in our party didn't see was part of it when she ordered and the server happily took it back and remade it after we apologized. The flatbread with candied bacon with pears and fig was also delicious. The hamburger was nothing special and the fries were decent. I would recommend coming back for the beer and some appetizers, soup, and salad as it seems that's what they do best.

The space is very big. I loved the set up with the apples everywhere to represent Sir Isaac Newton! I mean who doesn't like gravity! The beer menu was pretty impressive. The food came out quick and was pretty basic but good. The prices were pretty impressive (same as pre 2020). I got a calamari which was pretty tasty. I also got fish tacos. It was nice that they didn't under or over stuff it. Of note- the host was like 14 years old? I didn't realize people that young could work at bars!

there are no "separate checks" option upon check out , not convenient . staff stated that "it is our policy". Dark, old looking place with non convenient policy

Horrible customer service. Received a drink from the bar that was made incorrectly and asked for it to be removed from my bill as undrinkable Was refuse to have it taken off. So forced to pay for something I could not drink. To many other customer friendly places in Newtown

we went there with a few local friends to there bar. The place is a little crowded and needs more bar space the drinks we very good tho a good amount of options and quick service fun little hangout place will definitely go back!

Very disappointed with this experience. My wife and I arrived at around 9. Our waitress Leanna W. took an incredibly long time to come to our table after someone else very kindly took our drink order. When she did arrive, she seemed visibly annoyed and just dropped the drinks off on the table without fully acknowledging us. Our food came very quickly after we ordered and was VERY delicious (kudos to the kitchen and the only reason I gave Isaac Newton's two stars). However, Leanna did not check back on us at ALL until 10 pm (about a half-hour after we received our food). By that time, we were finished and I was ready to order one more beer and my pregnant wife wanted dessert. She informed us that we couldn't order anything and the kitchen closed at 10 pm (which, as stated, was the exact time she came to "check" on us). Essentially, she was just coming back to let us know that we weren't her problem anymore, and we should go to the bar if we wanted anything else. When we were very clearly and understandably upset and mentioned that we weren't informed of this, she passed the blame onto the host stand saying that they should have told us when the kitchen closed. This, of course, is ridiculous and it's extremely unfortunate that she was willing to throw her team under the bus for something that could only be her fault since it's mainly her responsibility as a waitress to inform guests of kitchen closing times. She cost the restaurant more money, which we would've spent, and herself a good tip, which she would've gotten. It has been many years since I've received service this poor at a restaurant.

I had a late lunch (2pm) at Issac Newtons on 10/19 with a girlfriend. We sat indoors in the back room and were the only ones in the room. Food was great as always. However, the ambience was ruined by terrible loud rock music (I'm pretty sure I heard Ballroom Blitz by Sweet on a loop multiple times while we were there). We asked our server more than once if the music could be changed or the volume turned down but she said it was not possible. We also heard her loudly complaining to other staff (with f-bombs) about our requests to modify the music. We ended up going elsewhere for dessert and coffee due to the poor ambiance. Very surprising to us as we've been there many times before without this problem.

If you're lookin for a good burger that's not beef, this is a decent place to try. I went with Blaine's Turkey Burger which came with the splendid crispy onion nest as a topping. The restaurant is spacious and it was fairly quiet upstairs at our booth. Our server wasn't super attentive but checked on us enough that we didn't feel ignored. With it being our first time in Newtown, it took us a little while to find the entrance since we parked on State street. If you make a reservation, they will ask that your entire party arrives before being seated so plan accordingly.

Favorite hangout spot in Newtown. Great place to get a drink at the bar or grab a bite with familiar or friends. Best burgers in town, most other things on the menu are good as well. Haven't been disappointed yet.

Had a horrible and humiliating experience at issac newtons yesterday. my husband and I were meeting family for a birthday lunch. when we got there I asked for a booth for 5. I was told that we couldn't be seated until all 5 people were there. I am on a cane and recovering from cancer. it is difficult for me to stand and the hostess said I could sit on a bench in the vestibule. I asked for the manager and explained my situation and she nastily replied that it is their policy. she refused to seat us. we asked for a booth for 2 people and she once again nastily replied that we would get served but when my family got there they would not be served. I have never heard of such a policy and never experienced such lack of compassion. we walked out and will never be back ! ended up at green parrot and had a lovely lunch.

Have been going here for many years and it was usually fine. Our experience tonight, however, made me not want to go back. It started with our salad - we ordered a special salad that was described as burrata and prosciutto. It arrived with no prosciutto. We told the waitress and she said she'd inform the kitchen. Then we ordered a children's meal for our infant and it didn't come out. We told the waitress and we finally got the meal but we were already done eating. The final straw was that they did nothing to remedy the situation - no comp for the salad or the forgotten meal. The food was fine but not worth it for the lackluster service.

Over the weekend, I visited Isaac Newton's. This was my second time visiting. The first time was a couple years ago and I don't remember much from that visit, but I'm glad I decided to pop in here again. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the plexiglass at the hostess podium. They seem to be following necessary indoor dining safety measures, including staff wearing masks and keeping customers separated properly within the restaurant. I'm not sure if there was a maximum capacity for guests inside, but it wasn't crowded. We were asked if we would mind sitting at a tabletop by the bar. It was a comfortable space for all in my opinion. I ordered a White Claw and was not expecting it to be so big! It was like a pounder and took me forever to finish. To start, we ordered Buffalo cauliflower. I have to say, this was one of the most delicious buffalo cauliflower appetizers I've ever had. It's fried and crispy, but not greasy. Smothered in Buffalo sauce with blue cheese dressing underneath and pickled onions. I told myself I was going to be healthy this year and stay on track when dining out, so I ordered a Greek salad as my meal. The way this salad was crafted was absolutely insane. Tons of toppings including Kalamata olives, feta cheese, artichokes, and fried onions! Wow! The dressing was a plum vinaigrette and wasn't overpowering at all. My friend ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken and it looked very appetizing. The menu had a few protein options for their famous Caesar salads; fish, chicken and steak. I felt no guilt after devouring the food at Issac Newton's. Service was excellent and there was plenty of parking when we arrived. I'll surely be returning for some more fun food and drinks next time I'm in the area!

I haven't been to Isaac Newton's in probably 15-20 years. I enjoyed it as a kid growing up here but we always wind up staying in Yardley when I come so don't make it to Newtown often and we stayed down the road. Anyway, we had a great meal here and they did a great job with the covid protocols. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes not bad at all. The food was very good and the beer selection was very solid and had a lot of local beer which I always love. The burger I had was fantastic, a bit overcooked but still very good. My wife loved her meal as well. The kids meals are $5 and come with a drink and soft serve ice cream, you can't frickin beat that!! The service was good but they were very busy so I think things move a bit slower, but we were also upstairs. The place still kinda looks the same but in a good way, it was great to come back and we'll make a jaunt over here more often when we are in town. Is it the best food on the planet, no but the service and price point is great. Definitely give it a try!

If you're stuck in the 80s, don't understand quality or taste in food, or think that a restaurant is ok promoting garbage as it's signature dish, are ok with tasteless and boring drinks, then this is the place for you. If any of the above don't apply, skip this joint. We were recommended to this place by hotel staff and boy did they misfire. From burned but still almost raw inside pretzels, to burned grilled cheese, and the worst order of ribs I've ever had in my life, this was a horrible meal all around. The kindest thing to say is the burger my wife ordered was passable, but nothing of note. Yup, that's the highlight of our meal. I will say the staff were great and did try to fix things, but when the problems start at the menu, there is not much wait staff can do. Honestly, a 1 star is generous for the food at this place. Only the staff merits a higher rating. Oh, one last thing... be on lookout for Robin Leach and his old show, lifestyles or the Rich and Famous. This place thinks that Grey Poupon Dijon mustard is what a kid should get for their hot dog....

Visited this little gem with colleagues from work. Great atmosphere, decent prices, and great food. Ordered the pastrami Reuben and was not disappointed. Fries were an upcharge but definitely a good choice. Our entire party enjoyed the food they got, with generous portions and no room for dessert. Fun nugget: restrooms are in the basement and each of the "Johns" is marked to make you think before you enter. Enjoy!

Ok. this place has a good beer selection. I have kept coming back for the Pliny despite its flaws. tonight we ate at the bar and ordered two drinks that were too sweet and couldn't stomach. the bar tender kindly apologized and asked us what we would like instead. the bar tender then came back and apologized profusely that the manager wouldn't wipe the drinks from the tab. the manager didn't have the courage to come over and apologize or say that to us directly and sent the young waiter. so here you go Isaac's. your men's room is disgusting. it looks like 20 years of urine collected in your men's room. the old manager is rude and couldn't care less about the customer experience. been dragging people here for years because of the beer but the service and other flaws of this place make it hard to justify when two poorly mixed drinks won't be taken off tab. go to second sin and have great beer than head over to iron hill. much nicer people there despite the crowd.

Service and personnel were nice and professional, a cumulative beer list for those that enjoy craft ales, however the price for the quality of food was poor - I ordered a salad that was absolutely drenched in dressing and the buffalo sauce the protein was tossed in....I only ate 1/4 of the dish and threw the rest out, that's $15 wasted, oh well.

I had dinner here for my friend's birthday. I loved the veggie burger. It is definitely one of the best homemade veggie burgers I've had. Also the fries were amazing!!!!!

Fun atmosphere, great food and a fun drink menu. Even in a Friday night the service was cordial and helpful.

Ample parking . Super cozy & Great service . The food was great. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is bc it came out to fast . As soon as we finished our appetizer was cleared our dinner was on the table . I need a little time between courses . Especially when having 3 , to really enjoy the dining experience. Dessert was definitely the show stopper tho . The seasonal coconut snowball with coconut mousse was really good . I have no words for how great it was . If you like coconut- it's a must try while they have it on the seasonal dessert menu !

sat at the bar & only came for food, no drinks. got the new england clam chowder which was on special - 10/10! it was delicious & a good portion for $8. i had boneless wings & a house salad - 8/10. salad was very basic but the balsamic dressing was awesome. we also got a burger - it didn't woo us much and we got charged $1 for the bun. no idea why !

Wonderful experience overall! Very veteran friendly with a hefty 25% discount! And the food was great!

After it took about 5 minutes to find the restaurant, the street address doesn't match where the front door is..you have to walk down an alley between other buildings off the main road to find the restaurant. I was seated quickly, and the polite waitress took my order. I asked for a Reuben light on the 1000 islands - she told me they couldn't do that bc the sandwiches were already prepped - causing me to wonder about the upcoming meal. The sandwich arrived, it was well grilled, not overly dressed and appeared fresh, so that was good. Outdoor seating under the umbrellas was comfortable for an early dinner/bite while I was on the road traveling.

We were greeted by two miserable-looking teenagers. Got seated quickly for a Saturday night. We were put upstairs and the cold breeze coming from the closed window was brutal. Not sure how people will sit there during the winter months without wearing a coat. Our server never smiled and seemed annoyed just being there, she was very unpleasant. The food did come out quickly though, the fries were really good but the burger was bland. I would never go there again.

My wife and I arrived with our son on Sunday night around 5. Our daughter and son in law were also joining us about 3-5 minutes after our arrival. Place was not busy and many tables were open. We were told we could not be seated until everyone arrived. We offered to order appetizers and drinks right away as we were on our feet most of the day. Again, we were told we could not be seated. We met our daughter and son in law in the parking lot about two minutes later and decided to go elsewhere and spent our $160 dinner bill at the Green Parrot which was more than happy to seat the three of us right away upon arrival. Daughter arrived two minutes after us. We eat out a lot and understand the seating policy when it's busy on a typical Fri or Sat night. But this was unacceptable on a non busy Sunday evening.

Old school craft beer bar in Bucks County that's still kickin' it. On a busy night the wait for a table can be long, so plan accordingly. The menu has always been decent and nothing to go crazy over, but solid nonetheless. The parking can be tight in the back municipal lots. On my most recent visit we sat upstairs at a table. They had a solid tap list as usual with one of my all time favs Pliny the Elder on tap. $9 a glass was a tad ridiculous, so I stuck to one glass. The food menu added some smoked BBQ dishes so I went with a Hickory Smoked Brisket - dry rubbed and hickory smoked in house, served with pickled crudites, cole slaw and their new mac and cheese for $18.50. The problem with in house smoked grub can be the lack of true BBQ smoke which the Brisket lacked, but it was still very tender, flavorful and moist with a nice dry rubbed flavor and a small portion of fat. It was overpriced, but I have to say the Mac and Cheese was really good for a side that's usually an afterthought. It was very creamy, cheesy and kind of addicting. I still enjoyed the dish overall, just would have liked more smoke flavor in the meat. All in all it was a decent visit, family was fed for around $50. They forgot my kids ice cream that comes with the meal which was a bummer. The carpets could definitely use a cleaning or a total removal on the steps and upstairs. Busy place and rightly so. Still one of the great craft beer bar/restaurants in Bucks County!

If you're looking for a good "bar food" joint this is perfect. I usually get a Rueben. Good for beer drinkers.

Was there Friday for drinks and dinner. The NY steak was inedible. The drink watered down. The service itself- though not the servers - was mediocre. Specifically, hardly had we started with appetizers before the main course appeared. This place may be nothing more than a beer and maybe a burger joint. They haven't the chops for much more. There are much better places very close by that prepare higher quality foods at a price point that isn't preposterous. I visited a smorgasbord in Lancaster that ironically, made Isaac Newton's seem utterly pedestrian. Improbable you might think. Not the case, I assure. Not worth the wait, nor the price.

Spending a rainy afternoon at Washington's Crossing State Park can be fun, really, when shared with cool people. We managed to get some hiking/scavenger hunting in but gave up pretty early on because A) it was raining and B) the clues were all 'look for a mossy log'. There are hundreds of mossy logs on the trails. It stopped being fun after checking all around the 10th. By the time the sun was setting, Lion and I were hungry. As in, want a good hearty pub meal hungry. I consulted my Yelp App and located Isaac Newton's was reasonably close. Lion had been there before and thought it was a good place. So, off we went. Thank goodness for the map directions linked to the app, because this place, while in the center of "Downtown Newtown", is kind of hidden in that it's not visible from the street, you get there through a walkway between buildings that face the street. It's really more easily entered and visible from the municipal parking lot it faces, behind other buildings, which is where the app took us. Yay! The restaurant is very nicely outfitted, warm off white tones and dark wood, comfortable spaces and higher ceilings. We were greeted and sat pretty quickly at a four-top with higher bar-style chairs tucked in a corner by windows. We got there just before the dinner rush so it was only somewhat crowded, by the time we left there was a waiting list. Our server came and took our drink orders. Lion got one of their many beers, a dark beer with coffee flavors, I took a sip and actually kind of liked it, which is not usual for me. I am a pilsner gal all the way. Surprises abound every day. I ordered the prosecco, which came in it's own tiny bottle and, oddly, a red wine glass. I asked for a flute and was told they don't have them. Okay... Lion gets the brisket and I go for the vegetarian chili. Our waiter brings a huge towering bowl of bread, sort-of sliced, no butter or oil though. We flag him down and in a few minutes a plate of butter is brought to us. The bread is good, coarse and soft with a firm crust. Pub bread. Our food arrives a short while later. It's good, Lion enjoyed his brisket and mac n cheese, which looked I swear like Kraft but he said was better. My chili was very tomato-y and sweet and thick. There was a thick slab of cheese on top that was surprisingly not adding much to the flavor balance. It was OK, missing the savory quality that I enjoy in a chili, or any complexity of flavor beyond 'sweet' and 'tomato'. We opt for a slice of chocolate cheesecake to split for dessert, it is predictably very good. It wasn't a bad meal, however for what we paid - $75 with tip - we felt that it was not worth the expense. The food was fine, the drinks were fine, portions were OK, Lion got 3 long slices of brisket, which isn't a lot, and my chili was a small crock size. I would have paid maybe $50 all-in for what we had. It just wasn't special. Service was earnest but uneven, things got busier as the night went on, and that may have contributed, however a good front-of-house can handle the expected dinner rush. It's a comfortable, pleasant place in a pretty town, however we felt it wasn't impressive enough to go back.
