Yelp
Isaan Thai Star is yet another exceptional restaurant in the Hudson Valley, situated in the city of Hudson. The menu sparks excitement with its diverse array of offerings, surpassing the standard, monotonous menus found in many Thai restaurants that have recently popped up all over NYC.
As the seafood green curry dish and SEAFOOD TOM YUM NOODLE (Shrimps, scallops, squids, rice noodle in a hot & sour tom yum soup with coconut milk, fried garlic, bean sprout, ground peanut, cilantro, scallion & fresh lime) were served, I couldn't help but notice the rare sight of plump scallops, large shrimp, and large rings of shiny squid, which not only looked appetizing but also tasted exceptional. In recent years I've found myself sifting through numerous Thai seafood bowls in search of a truly standout seafood - shrimp, squid or, even rarer, a quality scallop. It's akin to searching for gold or, in today's digital age, mining bitcoins, becoming increasingly challenging as seafood prices rise and restaurants compromise on quality.
Another happy success was the PLA SAM ROS - Crispy sawaii fish fillet with pineapple, onion, scallion, red bell pepper in sweet, sour, mild spicy sauce. A huge dish of well fried succulent big chunks of fish - simply superb. Yes, Isaan dishes are very generous - all signs, including the service, showed that they love to please their customers, further than being merely transactional as so many restaurants.
Everything else we ate was also excellent.
Additionally, the spacious interior boasts high wooden ceilings, creating a charming atmosphere. The ample room between tables ensures you can comfortably converse with friends without being disturbed by neighboring tables or causing disruption. Furthermore, I noticed they have an expansive backyard. It was closed but I would assume it provides a delightful option for outdoor dining on sunny days.
