What a beautiful and truly special place to visit. It’s honestly one of the best experiences you can have in Japan. Some comments mention that the guide doesn’t speak English, but she does—and she’s a genuinely lovely guide to listen to. Unfortunately, some people will complain about anything. Just remember, you’re in a foreign country, and English isn’t their first language. Others have complained about the no photo rule, but some things are meant to be a surprise. It’s not about you or your photos—it’s about respecting someone’s life work in a deeply meaningful place. If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would. There’s something wonderful about it being a little journey outside the city as well. It brings you to parts of Takamatsu you might not otherwise explore. Disregard the negative reviews. This place is perfect. Ten stars!

The house, garden and artworks are fascinating to view, no photos policy is totally ok, but you have to go with a group and a guide. We had around 30 people for 1 guide with a very quiet voice and limited English. I’m sure she is very knowledgeable and interesting to talk to, but it was almost unbearable to try to hear her. It would be much more helpful to have a self guided map or audio guide and more time to visit and appreciate the place and the works. For the price of the ticket (which is higher than any other museum in Japan that I know), the organization and experience are unfortunately poor.

***Check the opening hours before you head over.*** It’s only open three days a week, with just three time slots per day, so be sure to book your ticket in advance. The garden is lovely and captures the spirit of Noguchi—don’t miss the egg-shaped rock on the hill, where half of his ashes are scattered. A quiet, momentary place to pay tribute.

A must go if you are an art lover or you have visited Noguchi museum in NY, you will definitely enjoy your time. Btw, only accept reservation online. You can visit it without reservation.

Google
Fascinating place to visit on the outskirts of Takamatsu. Tools left as they were by Noguchi himself, along with several iconic works and unfinished pieces. We visited in the depths of winter - no wonder he didn't really stay here in that season, it was cold, but also very few people. Def recommend. Take cash if you can, credit card is possible but caused quite a kerfuffle.

I highly recommend for anyone who loves Noguchi or modern sculpture and is visiting the area. The views from the site are wonderful and really accentuate the architecture and sculptures. You can also visits the nearby Nagare studio on the same day to see works by an artist similar to Noguchi.

We had a difficult time getting here and communicating with the staff, but it was well worth the effort. Really soulful to see this place if you love art, sculpture, and Noguchi, Be sure to have cash if you are taking a taxi. The museum only takes cash as well. And be sure to have Google translate on hand!

A unique experience to see the workspace of this great artist. Beautiful architecture and sculptures embedded in its surroundings. Don't bother about the photo ban or the limited time - just enjoy the experience.
