The 36 Best Restaurants in Lisbon, Portugal | Eater

"In Portugal, bread is a religion. And in Lisbon, Isco, located in the Alvalade neighborhood, is one of its sanctuaries. Along with a hundred loaves of bread in different shapes and flavors and viennoiserie staples that come out of the ovens every day, guests can enjoy a few dishes and sandwiches, like galette roix and sausage or pecan folhado (pastry puff). Enjoy your meal with another sacred Portuguese staple: wine. There’s a significant list to wash down all those carbs." - Rafael Tonon

This is one of those places you feel grateful they exist. A place where you can get recently made bread, a good cup of coffee and a relaxed setup.

The space is extremely small, very confusing, and poorly organized. In several areas, it was noticeably dirty, which made the experience quite unpleasant. Allowing dogs in such a limited space only makes the situation worse and adds to the lack of comfort and hygiene. Overall, this was a disappointing experience and definitely a place I would not return to.

Baked goods seems really solid here. We got the cardamom bun and another little pastry thing that were both incredible. Staff was lovely and accommodating. Originally came here based on a recommendation to get a “choux craquelin” but they didn’t have them (I think they’re seasonal) but it didn’t matter because what we got was delicious. Highly recommend!

I really enjoy this bakery spot—especially the pistachio croissant, which is absolutely delicious. The coffee is great as well, making it a perfect place for a morning treat or an afternoon break. Highly recommend checking it out!

Tried this new bakery last week and was amazed by the quality of its products. The breads are absolutely fantastic and I tried them both. The pain au chocolat is to die for. Also tried the croissant and some Swedish specialties which were pretty amazing. Will surely be going back regularly.

I had high expectations and was unfortunately a little disappointed. The vibe in the store was not so good, I felt quite uncomfortable. The pistachio croissant tasted like a strange mixture of far too much fat and sugar, but the cinnamon and cardamom knots were really very good. The prices are perfectly fine!

ISCO is a very small and cozy Danish Cafe where you'll get amazing pastries. These are totally different from the portuguese ones. They're much darker like the croissant you see in the picture. It's not burned. Just has more color and crunchiness, which is really satisfying for me. The environment is really chill with only 3 men serving and you can also see the bread being made. Overall really good experience with new flavors. I just gave 4 stars because of the location...for being in the middle of nowhere. It deserved a better place closer to the city centre. Totally recommended though.

GUYS, you have great products, but COME ON!!! Put the menu in the entrance and on the wall, so people while queuing already can choose before it’s their turn. It would make things SO MUCH FASTER!!!! Cause right now, it’s ridiculously slow … and it does not encourage me to come back
