"The Australian cafe scene in New York has a new player from Parched Hospitality, the team behind several locations of Hole in the Wall). Located inside of the Hotel Hendricks, Isla serves dishes like Manilla clams with ‘nduja and fennel as well as a beef tartare with harissa and a quail egg." - Emma Orlow

Came here for Sunday brunch with a 1 PM resso for four people. It's located inside the lobby of a hotel. It's an Australian brunch spot, so some of the menu items have an Aussie twist to it, but you still also have some of your regular brunch items. I wanted to try the kangaroo skewers but I knew I was alone in this, so I ended up getting the Sausage Rolls (thai spiced pork mince, puff pastry, sweet chili sauce) and a side of Chicken Salt Fries. The sausage rolls were good but I guess they're on the "for the table" section for a reason. After a few, it gets to be a bit much. I was deciding between the sausage rolls and the Crispy Chicken Sando. After trying a bite of my friend's chicken sando, I immediately regretted not getting it. The fries were good - they're battered fries, which I love. I saw a few tables that had an espresso martini flight, which looked cool. Will have to come back next time for that, the chicken sando, and someone who is willing to split the kangaroo skewers with me.

Wow! Wasn’t expecting to love it this much. This place was close to my hotel and my boyfriend and I just wanted a quick brunch spot but u was pleasantly surprised. Staff was super nice and I cannot remember the name of my waiter but he was very efficient and nice as well. Food was excellent and I feel the price was good especially given the area we were in where everything is usually super overpriced. Love it here and would go back anytime!

We had been meaning to try this spot for a while and like that it a quiet respite in midtown. The high ceiling gives the restaurant a very airy quality. There is something for everyone on the menu I think whether vegetarian or not, drinking cocktails/beer/wine or coffee and tea, and a mix of food options from salads to sandwiches to pasta. I like some of the Australian touches like half the wines are from Australia, options Tim Tam add-on, and kangaroo skewers but the restaurant was out of kangaroo when we went. While a lot of places in midtown try to move you quickly, service here is slower and possibly nicer for catching up with friends. Food is ok. We ordered our steak frites medium rare and it came practically well done. The OG burger had bacon that was so hard we had to leave bits of it on the plate and saw others left it too. I would probably try this place for brunch and hope the food is cooked a little better and not out of things.

Update: We decided to return to try more of the menu. Unfortunately, our second visit wasn’t as successful as the first. The breakfast burrito was enjoyable, but the fried chicken sandwich fell short—the bun was dry. I wish the pudding came with more sauce. Really generous portions for a reasonable price. The cheesecake waffle was perfectly mild, with just the right amount of sweetness. Everything was just amazing—definitely worth trying!

Google
The food, cocktails and friendly service were great. We came in for a late lunch, to try their expresso martini flights and their Australian food. Everything was delicious. It happened to be Happy Hour from 3-6 so we ordered some appetizers to share along with unique martini flights. So good!

Google
We came here for brunch and ordered the smashed avocado toast and kimchi sambal scramble — both were really good and flavorful. The food was definitely the highlight. Service could use a little improvement, and the location was a bit confusing since it’s at the entrance of a hotel. The atmosphere wasn’t something we liked

Google
We had brunch here over the weekend and were very satisfied with the entire experience. Even though we didn’t have a reservation, the hostess efficiently found us a table. Our server—a very cool guy from New Zealand—deserves a shout-out. The vibe was great and the dishes were excellent. We shared the kimchi scramble and the pork hash. My girlfriend preferred the pork hash, while I loved the kimchi scramble—it was bursting with flavor. Portions are generous, so you probably don’t need dessert, but we couldn’t resist. We ordered the strawberry apple waffle and didn’t regret it at all—it was outstanding. Highly recommend this spot, and we can’t wait for the Brooklyn location to open.

Google
What a great breakfast! I ordered the breakfast sandwich and I was a little skeptical because I had a hash brown potatoes on the sandwich, but it was absolutely outstanding. Much better than what I anticipated. My wife had the avocado toast and she very much Enjoyed that. Service was very attentive and punctual.

Yelp
I thought the food was delicious. I was very pleasantly surprised by how thoughtful and tasty the Isla's Power Bowl was. A true vegetarian meal, it didn't make me jealous at all about the carnivorous foods by table mates had. The sticky date pudding was also a must try and great for sharing. Not everyone enjoyed it but I thought it was deliciously sweet. A great restaurant for not that expensive a price in Manhattan. I think it's worth a try especially if you have a group that can't decide what to eat.

Yelp
I've been here three times -- twice for dinner and once for breakfast -- and every visit has been super delicious. For dinner, we ordered the pasta and the chicken Parmesan, and both were flavorful, well-prepared, and very satisfying. Breakfast was just as good -- the French toast was a standout and the perfect way to start the day. Everything we've tried has been consistently solid, which says a lot. Service was outstanding! Very attentive as well as the cozy vibes inside. Located inside the Hotel Hendricks, it's a great spot whether you're staying at the hotel or nearby. Definitely worth coming back, and I'd happily return again.

Yelp
Nice food, great service! This restaurant came up in the list of must try brunches in Midtown. This was walking distance to our hotel. We were so impressed by the entry and the restaurant ambience. It's a small place but very cute. We got the kimchi sambal Scramble and breakfast roll. The scramble had generous kimchi but no sambal. I would have liked if there was sambal as it would have cranked up the flavors a notch. I got hash browns too and they were small but very tasty nevertheless. Breakfast Roll was good-- we got the truffle fries and they were absolutely amazing. Service was pretty great! Nice interiors with a lot of faux plants and rattan light decor-- it gave a whole rainforest vibe. Overall the food was good!

Yelp
Isla & Co. Midtown has great food and really solid prices, especially for New York. The cocktails were the standout for me, easily the best part of the meal. The space is fun and stylish, but the service was on the slower side and our table got missed a few times, which took away from the experience. Overall still a great spot with amazing drinks, just hoping for more attentive service next time.

Yelp
This place is super cute! It's on the first floor of a hotel. My friend made a reservation and we were seated right away. There's a single stall bathroom. My friend and I shared: - kimchi scramble: I wish it came with a little more kimchi. It was a pretty big portion though. Essentially it was a large portion of scrambled egg on multigrain toast with some kimchi on top. - breakfast burrito: I'm not normally a burrito person, but the pictures looked good so I was influenced to order it. It was already cut in half and came with fries. The fries were nothing special. I did enjoy the breakfast burrito, but it was missing something. It needed some hot sauce or a little more flavor - strawberry waffle: this was a yummy sweet treat to end brunch. My favorite thing we ordered. It came with 2 pieces. Service was good. They didn't rush us out or anything.

Yelp
Came at Saturday 5:30pm without a reservation for 2 and there was no problem fitting us in. The ambiance is nice and not too loud or crowded. Their happy hour menu is 3-6pm including weekends and pretty good discounts. We got the Kung pao cauliflower (too saucy and not crispy, wouldn't get again) and the Margot Robbie which is my favorite new cocktail in a while (milky and refreshing, without the cloying flavor of most milky drinks) for $10 each. We also got the kangaroo skewers, which is small for 2 skewers of 3 pieces each but well seasoned and kind of like pork. It was on a bed of pickled onions and cucumber with a base of green tahini sauce that was refreshing. The steak frites was decent too with fries on the crispy side (although I could have had it crispier). I want to come back for the espresso martini flight but it'd need to be for lunch because of all that caffeine!

Yelp
There are not many midtown restaurants that you can have a great meal and conversation but Isla is such a place. They have a great diverse menu and great specials throughout the week. Our favorite is steak and martini sundays and parm tuesdays. We love this place!!

Yelp
Cute spot located inside a hotel lobby. Aussy food with good, strong drinks. We got the cauliflower appetizer and it was one of the best apps. Sauce was not overwhelming but it retained a good crunch. We got the fish and chips and the fish sando. Portions here are generous. Fish was good well for both dishes, no complaints there. Service is super kind, would return for their happy hour and to try the rest of their menu.

Yelp
I had this place bookmarked because I had to check it out. I've never really had Australian before so had to try it out and it's not too far from where I work so went for lunch with my colleagues. The space is nicely decorated, but if you come during prime lunch time it is best to make reservations. After looking over the menu it all seemed like American food. The only thing that caught my eye were the Kangaroo skewers. I expected it to be gamey, but glad it wasn't. It tasted like well done beef. I also had spicy prawns or shrimp with vodka rigatoni. It wasn't too spicy for me, so I had to add the red pepper flakes which helped a lot with the spice level. It's a nice place for a lowkey lunch.

Yelp
We stopped by Isla & Co. in Midtown and loved everything we ordered! We got the espresso martini flight, the breakfast burrito (upgraded to truffle fries for only $1 more), and the Isla cheeseburger with a side salad. Everything was amazing. The espresso martini flight was definitely strong! I shared it with my mom and couldn't have finished it on my own. Our favorite flavor was the Coco Devine. We wanted to try the strawberry cheesecake waffles too, but we were so stuffed from all the food that we just couldn't fit another bite. There's only one restroom in the main dining area (unisex), and there was usually a short wait, but you can ask the hostess for a card to access the lower-level restrooms, which were very clean and much less crowded. I don't know if I'll be back on my next NYC trip just because there are so many amazing spots I still want to try, but I'd absolutely recommend Isla & Co. to anyone looking for great food, drinks, and a cozy Midtown vibe.

Yelp
This is truly a 3.5 review. I'm just not sure the final price was worth the food and if I'd choose to return. The atmosphere and service hit all the marks. The food was okay for me. Our group tried the kangaroo appetizer. While I was hesitant to eat Roo, I want to be adventurous and try new things, too! So while in an Australian themed restaurant.... The dish was good. Kangaroo did not taste like chicken ;-) The meat was chewy, more like a medium well steak. I'm not a big red meat person, so take my review with that lens. My husband and I shared two meals - the fish and chips and the vodka rigatoni (minus the chilis as my husband has lower spice tolerance and our server warned us it can run spicy). Both were good, just not to die for. There was just one larger piece of fish in the fish and chips. It wasn't greasy (yay) but wasn't the best fish & chips we've had. The espresso martinis were a highlight. Four different signature options. The OG was my fave with delicious espresso forward flavor. The one with banana liquor is worth a try. It's unique, but the espresso flavor is definitely subdued by the other ingredients. Our server, Jay, was amazing. High energy, friendly, fun, and efficient.

Yelp
I finally got around to checking out Isla and Co at their 38th Street location just west of Fifth Avenue. Given it is at the base of a hotel, you walk in and turn left to see a bar and then left you see the front desk of the restaurant. Otherwise, the space is similar to other restaurants in this Midtown area. Inside, the tables are not too crammed together, but your conversation will only be private to the extent the ambient noise covers your conversation. I had no reservation and was seated immediately with a smile in a good location by the welcoming hostess. My server Jay was very enthusiastic. Though he made one error with the check, he was apologetic and explained what he was doing to correct the issue. He was a good example of service with a smile. I ordered the Coopers Pale Ale first and quickly followed with the Kangaroo Tucker, eventually ordering their Aussie version of Chicken Parm. The Cooper Pale Ale has a considerable amount of yeast or wheat in it, giving it a cloudy dark amber appearance. It's very good and puts the oil can to shame. The Kangaroo Tucker on a bed of tahini with small cucumber chunks is quite good. Kangaroo has a slight gameyness to it, but no more than goat or lamb and tastes similar to lamb. Do not get your expectations up for these skewers, thinking along the lines of metal skewers for kebabs. They are actually two, four inch long toothpicks with small chunks of marinated kangaroo, which are seasoned well to match the herbs and chili crunch in the tahini. The sesame seed oil ground down for the tahini adds a layer of unctuous quality and richness, with the fresh cucumber cutting across for juxtaposition, but the pickled onions were not evident to my palate. This is an appetizer whose description as skewers at $19 should not mislead one to think this could ever be a main plate or worth sharing for the whole table as labeled on the menu. It's tasty, but misleading in portion size. I ordered another Coopers at a reasonable rate of $9 and the Aussie version of Chicken Parma with the upcharge for the prosciutto. It's one flattened chicken breast with Parmesan and Pomodoro sauce. This is supposed to be the best selling meal at Aussie pubs and it is good. However, expectations shotbe managed if one has had Chicken Parm at any number of great Italian restaurants. Here, the chicken cutlet was good, but not as crispy as desired. The cheese was good, but not like the sharp Parmesan you would otherwise expect. The sauce was actually surprisingly good, but the $6 upcharge for the prosciutto did not hit with the impact desired. The Fri that come with the dish were actually quite good, as was the very small herb salad. Isla and Company is a good restaurant, but the Australian fingerprint is not as distinct as one might expect. The food is good with nothing objectionable, but you should come her with managed expectations. Servit is good and the floor manager came by to double check that all was in order and had been ordered. Management wants to move the tables along and ensure the orders are flowing in with no untoward delay. Jay was handling his business properly. In this time of inflation, this was not a $75 plus tip value experience. Isla and Co cannot be held responsible for this, but this is surely a challenge for restaurants to meet and overcome in these times. When a customer evaluates whether to go out or stay home, a $90 tab with tip for one person for this fare will cause one to consider staying home or consider other dining options. 3.2 stars

Yelp
The food is very good with a lot of attention paid to every detail. I ordered a delivery of Fish & Chips, a Green Caesar Salad and the Aussie Chicken Parmesan. The Fish & Chips consisted of two pieces of cod, lightly breaded with fresh mint leaves, some pickled red onions, fresh dill, house made tartar sauce and crispy fries...excellent. The Aussie Chicken Parmesan was pan fried with tasty tomato sauce and nice mozzarella cheese...delicious. The Green Caesar Salad was also terrific with fresh greens, house made croutons and two small containers of house made dressing. (The extra dressing was appreciated!) Delivery was quick. Packing was perfect. Highly recommended, and not just for drinks and bar snacks, but for the excellent, tasty food that comes out of a very professional and high quality kitchen.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant - there was plenty of seating and it was nicely decorated, it felt super relaxed. The service here was great - the staff were attentive and friendly. We started off with the Kangaroo Tucker which tasted more or less like steak and paired well with the sauce. Though it was unique, I would say the appetizer was a bit small for the overall value. On the other hand, the Pulled Pork Hash was great. It came with tons of meat and the sauce had the perfect amount of consistency to it. This toast definitely left me full. I also ordered a matcha that was alright. It wasn't too sweet but wished it was a bit smoother. Overall a very solid brunch spot to grab a bite!
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Got the crispy chicken sando ($19). It was slightly sweeter than I was expecting and the chicken had gotten soggy from the sauce, but still good. The fries were nice and crispy. Service was super friendly and the interior was nice.

Yelp
We were in the neighborhood and looking for a brunch place and online reviews said this place was good and the menu looked decent so we decided to check it out. We did not make a reservation but were able to put yourself on the waiting list so that is what we did. When we checked in, we still had to wait about 15 mins so in total the time detailed during the wait was accurate. Once seated, we ordered the burger with fries, avocado toast and the mini breakkie which came with eggs, beans toast and hash browns. The burger was decent but the fries were good, the avocado toast was a good size and had good flavor. The beans on the brekkie looked like they can from a can but were still good; the eggs and bread were good while the hashbrowns looked premade. The flavor and quantity of the flavor was good and each was filling. Overall a good brunch place if you are in the area as the food and ambiance were good

Yelp
An Aussie brunch place in midtown on the first floor of the Hendricks Hotel. I still haven't figured out what Aussie food is, though it seems similar to New American, which incorporates a varying degree of international influences to mix up traditional European/American dishes. Overall would recommend though certain dishes were better than others. I gathered with several friends for brunch a couple weekends ago, within 5 minutes of our reservation at 1:30pm, we were seated. It's a little hard to tell how large the restaurant is from outside, it seats about 50-60 people in a railroad layout meaning narrower from the front and deeper. There are a few smaller tables outdoor under the overhang, which opens directly to a bar along the left wall. Walking back into the restaurant a handful of tables along the walkway opening to a section with several larger tables in the back. Food--we ordered: - Kungpao Fried Cauliflower $15: crispy sweet spicy battered cauliflower, chili, cilantro, fried shallots, chimichurri. This was ok, kinda a misnomer since it wasn't truly "kungpao" flavor, more like sweet and sour. Need to eat this right away or will get soggy, the chimichurri sauce felt extraneous bc the cauliflower was already very saucy and salty. - Smashed Avocado Toast (vg, gfo) $16: multigrain toast, smashed avocado, marinated feta, pickled onion, heirloom tomatoes, salsa verde, toasted seeds. A solid avocado toast, pretty to look at, a good balance of texture and flavor. - Pulled Pork Hash (gfo) $22: multigrain toast, sautéed potato hash, pulled pork, poached eggs, hollandaise, fried parsley, chili threads. This was really delicious! The pulled pork had a lovely smoky, sweet bbq flavor, the egg was cooked perfectly runny on the inside. Would recommend! - Lemon Broccolini Orecchiette (vg) $18: lemon pesto, capers, garlic crumb, fried parsley. Very tasty though on the rich side. If you're looking for a creamy pasta get this. - Fried Fish Sando (gfo) $22: toasted brioche bun, battered atlantic cod, tartar sauce, gem lettuce, pickles, french fries. The portion of fish on this sandwich was very generous, and the fish was fresh. The bread was good, the pickles were definitely needed as the tartar sauce was on the blander side, wish there were more crunchy pickles minced into this. The fries were decent, slight crispy. This was my dish and unfortunately there was an execution issue because oil was constantly dripping out of the fish as I was eating it. Getting approx 3 tablespoons of oil in a puddle on my plate was pretty off-putting. - Aussie Iced Coffee $8: this was a like an iced coffee with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. A decadent and tasty treat. The staff was cordial and on point for the most part, we had to flag down our server for the check though whenever we needed something (water, napkins, an extra plate), they brought it right away. Bonus star for their Guide to Australian Animals in the menu, this was informative and hilarious.

Yelp
Went out of our way for Gluten free fried fish, ended up being impressed with the experience, food was good and the Espresso Martini Flight was amazing. Located in a hotel, the seemingly unassuming restaurant opens up with nice ambiance and a decent modern vibe. The staff was friendly and helped explain their menu and cocktails. The Australian chicken parm was nicely fried and crisp, gluten free fish and bun hit the spot. We left satisfied and a new passion for espresso martinis.

Yelp
I love this place! The ambiance is great, super friendly staff that doesn't rush you, it's beautiful inside, and great for groups! The food is delicious and has a good variety. They're also known for their espresso martini flight. Their prawn pasta is delicious and a hit every time. Their power bowl also looks good so I'm excited to try that next time.

Yelp
Very nice brunch place in Midtown. It's behind the hotel lobby. There's not much space to wait for a table, you have to wait in the lobby and it's pretty small. I was able to make a reservation for Sunday brunch the same morning. They had a delicious espresso martini menu. The food was eclectic and very delicious. I loved the decor of the restaurant, very bright and playful. There's only one single use bathroom there. I had to go like five times because of the cocktails I was drinking at each time I had to stand on a line. Overall great place to catch up with friends and have a good meal

Yelp
Walked in for brunch on a Sunday. Ordered a few cocktails and brunch entrees. I was specifically craving a pork hash and Isla & Co. popped up. I was delighted that the current menu still had this. It satiated my craving, with the sauce soaking the sourdough toast at the bottom. The breakfast burrito was also tasty. Service was very friendly. I loved the menu with the illustrations and fun information about Australia. I appreciate business that put a little more effort into their menu design. Ambiance was casual and lively but not too lively. It's located in a hotel and has modern stylish seating.

Yelp
Food, drinks and service were good. They have happy hour so we tried some of the happy hour food (Spicy Chicken Wings) and drinks (Espresso Martini, Margot Robbie & Smoke Show). The bathroom was unisex and it was dirty. Also they have a 2.5% credit card fee which wasn't disclosed on the menu; I told saw it when I asked for a receipt after paying so if I didn't get a receipt I wouldn't have known that there were fees.

Yelp
cute vibes inside; my friends enjoyed the cocktails with the happy hour! the food was just ok.

Yelp
Isla & Co is tucked away on the side of a hotel lobby. The restaurant is more spacious than it looks. We were seated in the back section with has a skylight that peeks thru the leafy ceiling decor. I struggled between a three and a four. I would say it's a 3.5 stars. The positive - bright open space, Our server was fantastic. Friendly, and engaged but not overly so. We never felt rushed and it was perfect catchup for the 5 of us. Espresso martini (cocktails in general were excellent) Pork hash - 3/5 - we added bacon as a side to the hash. The bacon was crispy. It wasn't a hash. It was pulled pork on top of toast with poached eggs on top. There was no potato hash that I can recall and the pulled pork had a too sweet bbq sauce. Isla burger was fine - we added bacon. The bun is slightly too much for the patty and wish the bacon was as crispy as the side on the hash. Bkfast burrito - ask for the chimmichurri on the side. After a few bites it is too much. Power bowl - it's fine if you want a healthy option.

Yelp
The pesto chicken sandwich had huge blobs of broccoli The kangaroo skewers are ridiculously small They suggest paying via a QR code and then add a $2 fee for the " convenience "

Yelp
Great location and packed, lively restaurant. The whole place was busy- inside, outside, and bar, soots a good spot for people watching. Lovely drinks and there is an espresso flight menu.

Cute, cozy little place in the lobby of a hotel in midtown. Cocktails and wings, FANTASTIC!! The service was great and the ambiance was perfect for a business dinner.

Yelp
Came here for brunch on a Saturday. Service and atmosphere were great. The chicken sando was just ok; the sauce it's coated in was underwhelming. The fries were really good, though. I split the strawberry cheesecake waffles and that was good, too. I also liked the virgin mojito.

Yelp
This restaurant is super cute. Tucked inside the first floor of a hotel. The menu is a bit all over the place but the shrimp rigatoni was delicious. I really enjoyed that dish. It is spicy. Tried the kangaroo for the first time. It was alright. I did feel like it could have used a bit more seasoning but the cook on it was good. Meat was tender and juicy. The hummus plate was pretty as well.

Yelp
Went to the Midtown Isla location, which serves modern Australian cuisine, for a Saturday brunch with a group of 8-10 people. The space is nicely designed with a charming interior. Our group was seated at a large table in the back, slightly separated from the rest of the restaurant, which made it easy to talk and catch up. We ordered a few appetizers for the table: spicy chicken wings, waffles, and a sweet bread, followed by individual mains. The portions were all pretty decently sized, and the food all arrived at once. I had the pulled pork hash (without the bread), which was a very generous portion, easily enough for two. Overall, the food was decent but nothing particularly memorable. Isla works well for a casual group brunch, especially if you're more focused on company than cuisine.

Yelp
I need to state with my server. He was warm, welcoming, and set such a nice tone to my time here at Isla. He was able to get my order entirely correct, provide me with GF/Vegan options, and just a warm presence. He was nice to everyone he interacted with. I think his name was Tobey? Again, keep him around he brightened up the space. My food was amazing. I got the prawn tacos and unfortunately the damn tortilla was bland and taken out of a bag... being from Latin decent I had hope but I guess it was a miss. Stay with the safe foods lol. Drinks tho, bartender ate it up!!!

Yelp
This is a very nice and rustic elegant restaurant. Came here strictly for brunch and found some of the food appetizing and drinks were well made. While waiting at the bar I did order a matcha latte which was bitter but I added some sugar and it tasted like normal. My partner ordered the chai latte which needed no additions, it was truly delicious. Once we were seated we got our Aussie breakfast, the mini big brekkie and breakfast sandwich. Both were really good. A friend of ours got the popular pulled bbq pork but found the sweetness to be overwhelming. Being a little adventurous we got kangaroo. It was very tough, very bland and not appealing at all. Kangaroo might have to be my least favorite meat.

Yelp
Great spot for a date, business lunch/dinner or celebration. Interior is super cute and modern. They even have a private room for small group celebration. I've been here for a business dinner a year ago and loved the food, it's very shareable and unique. Decided to come back recently for lunch with my husband and we enjoyed our meal. For lunch we ordered a cortado, Kangaroo Tucker, Fried Fish Sando and Pulled Pork Hash. The pulled pork hash was on the salty side, if it was less salty, it would have tasted much better. They were very generous with the portion. Service was on the slower end but my husband and I didn't mind it.

Yelp
Decided to check out Isla & Co. after reading they're the "Home of the Espresso Martini Flight." And with my boyfriend and I being experienced espresso martini drinkers, we had to check it out! They have two locations in NYC, one in Midtown and one in Williamsburg. They bring their Australian culture and vibes through everything I love... food, drinks and shared experiences! We started with the espresso martini flights (predictable I know) and had to get our own which I'm glad we did. In the flight, we tried the Olive Temptation (my favorite), Scarlett Rose and Coco Devine. Olive Temptation has a touch of banana, cream and olive oil which is why it is my favorite. Scarlett Rose is more on the saltier side if you like drinks with salt and Coco Devine is a "desert-y" martini so save that for the end. As we were sipping on our flights, of course I had to try the food what goes better with espressos than a caesar salad and fries? Both were SO good. The fries were perfectly crispy and I loved the crispy parmesan wafer in the salad. My boyfriend ordered the chicken parmesan with a salad and kangaroo skewers. We were both pleasantly enjoying our time here. The service was great as well, our waiter was super attentive and gave great suggestions throughout the night. Isla & Co. is located on the ground floor of Hotel Hendricks so definitely check them out at the bar or grab a table because you'll definitely be here a while enjoying everything their menu has to offer!

Yelp
I hosted a party in the private room of Isla and Co. It was an amazing experience. Their staff is so attentive and professional. The food was delicious. The overall experience was wonderful. The manager Hannah was SO helpful through the entire process. Truly could not have done it without her! She was the highlight of the space!

Yelp
The food was strictly fine, nothing was amazing or standout but overall decent quality. I was honestly most happy with the Kangaroo Tuckers, which were a lot more tender than I thought they'd be! The breakfast roll was pretty good, with a little too much sauce for my taste. Seating seems kind of competitive, but we managed to get in quickly without a reservation on a weekend if we were okay sitting at the bar. Service was quick and friendly!

Yelp
My friends and I recently tried this cute restaurant the last time we were in the city - and we will certainly be returning! It is located in a hotel, which is always a bit of a red flag for me - but not this time! We had exceptional service with some of the best coffee I've had in awhile. Next, they have a great Australian menu with options for our vegan friends. One friend and I split the mushroom toast and the waffles and both were so so good. Next time, I definitely want to try their espresso martini flight!

Yelp
Top-Notch Experience from Start to Finish! Everything was amazing from check-in for our reservation to check-out. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, where the simple decorations created such a relaxing atmosphere. Even though there were several parties dining, the volume was never loud or overwhelming -- just perfect for conversation. Service: Toby was our server and he was 1,000,000% top-notch. In today's world, it's rare to find that kind of genuine, attentive service. His personality was fantastic, he was always smiling, and he handled everything with professionalism and warmth. He absolutely deserves recognition for his outstanding service! Food & Drinks: The food was incredible -- and we didn't even come in starving! The hummus was smooth and flavorful (not grainy at all) with a surprising and delicious chimichurri drizzle. The espresso martini flight was such a fun idea -- unique pairings that worked beautifully. Our favorite? The rose espresso martini -- so good! We're so glad we decided to dine here. Everything was truly top-notch. Thank you for having us!

Yelp
Very clean, fresh food! I went with friends who do not eat meat, and we ordered their vegetarian options. Everything - the Turmeric Latte, the speciality coffees, afagato, mushroom sandwich, avocado toast, hummus platter and truffle fries were delicious and fresh. Loved the simplicity of the ambience and excellent service.

Yelp
Yum! Came here for a work lunch, the staff was super kind and the aesthetic was amazing. We ordered kangaroo skewers as appetizers for the table (all of our first time trying kangaroo). The meat was flavorful and well cooked. I personally wasn't a fan of the tahini underneath, but some of my coworkers liked it. I ordered the power bowl as my meal. So good! Each bite gave different flavors and textures. Definitely recommend trying them out! I would return to try out their drinks

Yelp
This restaurant has been on my to try out list for awhile. Finally made it here post a comedy show nearby. We came here closer to 9pm on a Saturday night. We ordered fried squid, sausage roll and cocktails as we weren't that hungry. I was looking forward to trying one of their espresso martinis garnished with Tim Tams but i was told it was sold out so I opted for the OG Espresso Martini. We waited for our food then the waiter came back advising us that they also had ran out of sausage rolls and asked if we wanted to order something else. He lingered around whilst we were looking at options and we asked if we could have a couple of minutes to decide but he said the kitchen was closing so he needed to know right there and then. With being under pressure, we ordered their cheeseburger. The fried squid came out first followed by our drinks. The fried squid was underwhelming, it was OK but more on the soggier side. The cheeseburger came out after and again, it wasn't anything fantastic. The bread tasted a bit dry so I didn't eat the top bun. All in all my friend and I were pretty disappointed with the experience, had high expectations given the reviews. Might give it another go for their brunch menu and hope for a better experience.

Yelp
I got the Mushroom Toast which I thought was delicious. Toast was great and mushrooms were cooked perfectly. We got the Truffle Fries and Thai Spiced Squid to share. The fries were so good. The squid was slightly overcook. We also got the Espresso Martini Flight to share. The Scarlet Rose was my favorite. The Coco Devine was good but too strong for me personally. The Olive Temptation did not work for me - didn't like the olive oil. Note: the sizes for the flight are smaller than normal which our waitress did inform us about.

Yelp
I love their happy hour Martinis but I adore the steak special on Sunday! Bartenders here are very friendly and good.

Yelp
this place has delicious food at a reasonable price for midtown but it's such a shame that it is criminally busy on the weekends and it has a weird open layout in the lobby of a hotel that makes it difficult for poeple to get around (including the waitstaff which btw this place is probably understaffed or they just dont know how to manage) The bartender also needs work. i was sitting at the bar for a whole 10 minutes and no one waited on me. The hostess also needs to learn how to accomdate reservations or at least have a bit of an apologetic attitude about it!! we were sitting at the bar for almost a half an hour after the reservation and no one came to get us. the temperature of the restauarant is..... tepid there's only one single use bathroom for all of the patrons, leading to an astronomical line that further creates traffic. the layout of the restaurant is weird, with a bunch of tables in the middle we had to wait ages for our waiter to come take our order, then the food came what seemed like AGES later, then we barely got waited on again after that except for when we asked for the check i would love to come back again to try other things like the esp. martini flight which looekd awesome but im a bit traumatized by the experience and the service experience!

Yelp
Went here for the espresso martini flight - I wasn't too crazy about it. One of the drinks was salt forward and it just wasn't for me. I preferred the reg espresso martini on the menu and that was solid. We tried the kangaroo - if you like lamb you may enjoy this- it was too chewy for me. I wasn't a fan. The chicken sandwich is VERY good along with the kung pao cauliflower
