The Bay Area’s Hottest New Clubstaurant Is Isla Grand in This East Bay Strip Mall | Eater SF

"A Bay Area Filipino restaurant known for dishes from the Pampangan region and across the archipelago has turned its Pleasant Hill flagship into a loud, celebratory, party-forward banquet space with live entertainment. On a busy Saturday night you’ll likely see cars circling the shared parking lot (some drivers resigning themselves to an overflow lot at an adjacent strip mall) while families and couples mingle outside waiting for a table; inside are two huge dining rooms — a typical dining area with tables for parties of four or more, and the action side with a bar, a stage, dizzyingly rotating rainbow club lights, a makeshift dance space and tables packed with parties of eight or more. Be smart or be prepared to wait: the host quoted a two-hour seating time to get into the club, err, main room at peak showtime, reservations are handled by phone, and reserved seating for groups over four or for the kamayan meal (also known as a boodle fight — a meal typically served over banana leaves and eaten by hand without utensils) often sells out depending on which entertainers (some who hail from the Philippines, others from the Bay Area) are onstage. The vibe is unabashedly a party — families, friend groups, birthdays and graduations fill the room while a live band covered hits including “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder and “Hotel California” by the Eagles, then a DJ spun ’90s and ’00s club hits like “Yeah,” by Usher and “Too Close,” by Next, moving people to dance at their tables and on the floor; volume can make ordering a challenge, though food arrives reliably, and TVs around the room show sports, cartoons (for kids) and a screen advertising the dishes with customer “Tasty-monials.” The massive, spiral-bound menu (almost on par with the Cheesecake Factory bible) emphasizes crowd-pleasers and regionals: sisig (a Pampangan specialty often arriving sizzling on a cast-iron platter), pork barbecue skewers, lumpia Shanghai, lechon, pancit, multiple styles of adobo, and less-common dishes such as Gotong Batangas (a soup with beef and offal) and Bicol Pinakbet (an assortment of vegetables such as calabasa squash and eggplant simmered in coconut milk), all served family-style with a pot of steaming white rice. The bar leans toward club drinks — printed menus list Jägerbombs, Singapore Slings, Long Islands and an AMF (the name sidestepping the Adios Motherfucker moniker) — plus wines, beers and 88-ounce beer towers delivered to tables. For those who enjoy a raucous “club-restaurant” atmosphere — drinking with your barkadas, pop hits playing in the background and large family-style plates — there is a certain charm here; for quieter diners it may be overwhelming, but for the crowd it “sounds, tastes, and feels like home.” Hours: 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday–Thursday; 11 a.m.–11:30 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.–11:30 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Sunday." - Dianne de Guzman

Review: Hotel des Grands Boulevards, Paris - SilverKris

"Led by chef Giovanni Passerini, the restaurant offers a regularly rotating menu that marries fresh pasta with French dishes, showcasing seasonal, thoughtfully composed plates. Dining is made memorable by a glass roof that retracts in good weather, allowing guests to eat beneath the stars when conditions permit." - Lindsey Tramuta

It was very nice. I went with my lady and my mom she's Filipina. She goes there all the time with my dad who has nice past. I went with them. I enjoyed it but the only thing I didn't like was the part that turns into a dance bar club lounge was fully reserved already so we weren't able to sit in that area. So maybe next time. Other than that, food was good. And yeah, overall terrific experiences over above and beyond with the customer service

Isla Grand Restaurant delivered a big experience with tasty food and a wide variety of options. The space is large, clean, and has a full bar, TVs, and well-kept bathrooms. We got seated quickly, but to be honest, it was a little overwhelming at first with how big and busy it was. The food overall was really good, and the unlimited rice is a nice touch—but it was a little overpriced for the portion sizes. We had to wait about 20 minutes before anyone checked on us, and our entrees started arriving before the rice, which came almost 15 minutes later. Our lumpia came at the end and was burnt. It was also a Father’s Day weekend, so we understand it was a busy time, but the pacing and delays affected the experience. That said, the staff was super friendly when they got to us, and the entrees were excellent—just not as timely as we would’ve liked. Some of our food got cold while waiting on the rice. Service missed the mark this time, likely due to the holiday rush, but because the flavor and quality of the main dishes stood out, we’ll definitely be back. Five of us. $$$ Follow me for more real reviews that break down the full experience—from the good to what could be better.

Came here for Sunday brunch. Parking is a little difficult. So bring your patience. The restaurant is big with plenty of tables. There were 8 people in our party and we were seated right away. Out of all the dishes we ordered, the sisig kapangpangan was the best. But everything else was a close 2nd. Everything was delicious and wish we had this in San Diego

Service was a little slow due to it being dinner rush hour. Had a family celebration here and had all the best dishes. The food is very fresh, everything from the grill was delicious. Try to make resos before to arrive!

This is a Filipino (Kapampangan to be exact) restaurant with popular filipino dishes. Most food were served in a creative traditional manner like the container of the rice brings back old memories of the Philippines, the sizzling sisig is really sizzling hot in the plate just like the ones I used to eat at sizzling places long time ago. Food tastes good, most portion is right for the price, live band is also available on the other side of the place. It is easy to see staff as they are wearing the same uniform and everybody is polite and helpful. It is our first time to celebrate my mom's birthday. We went on a busy friday dinner. We had pansit bihon, sizzling pork sisig, lechon kawali and kare kare. My mom's order was originally Crispy kari karing pata, however we got one bowl kare kare vegetable and one plate crispy pata (2 different dish istead of 1). I may be wrong but that is how we perceive it. Waiting for the order also takes a while, like the person who just got there after us got their order right away (also sizzling). Pork sisig- sizzling! the pork tastes different i can't describe, small portion Pansit bihon- mom loved it, good portion, not salty not bland Kare kare vegetable- small portion in a bowl, but sauce is delicious you can eat the rice just with the sauce itself Crispy pata- truly crispy and good portion, however extra payment to get a vinegar. Do people eat this without vinegar? Spent $80 for two people with a lot of to-go boxes. Before you go out they have a bell you can ring if you are satisfied with your visit. This place is good for groups, family and friends, or even a date. Plenty of tables and chairs, parking is full and limited, not sure if all the time or only on busy times and days. We will come back again as this place offers authentic filipino kapampamgan cuisine!

Again, gluttony got the best of me. I ordered way too much for a group of light eaters. The cooking was on point and true to the roots. Service could be better as they forgot us throughout the meal. Anyways, we went there for the food and it was worth it.

I am allergic to dogs and it is against the health code to bring an animal into a restaurant. Why do people do this?! Why do restaurants allow this?! This dog especially was very stinky and peed on the floor. Absolutely nasty and I will not be back! I hope the health inspector will resolve this issue soon. I'll be sending this photo to the health department.

Our experience at Isla Grand Restaurant was mostly enjoyable, though service could use improvement. We arrived before the dinner rush and were seated within 15-20 minutes. Jane, our initial server, was friendly and prompt with our order. We ordered the Sulit 4 , pancit, miso soup, sisig, nilaga, crispy pata, Laing, and Tocino (though the Tocino order was never placed). We had also wanted to try three other dishes but were told they were not available. The food we did receive was excellent and, in my opinion, even better than other Isla locations. The crispy pata was a standout—crispy on the outside yet tender inside. Each dish was well-seasoned and flavorful, truly showcasing the restaurant’s culinary strengths. However, the service was inconsistent. After Jane left for the day, we weren’t informed that another server would be taking over. While staff members brought food to our table, no one checked in to ensure we had what we needed. We had to ask multiple times for bowls for our soup, and our attempt to order the Tocino went unprocessed until we finally managed to place it to go. Em eventually came over as our server, but by that time, we were nearly done with our meal. Overall, while the food was fantastic, service left room for improvement. I’m giving this place 3 stars for its delicious offerings and a promising experience that could be even better with more attentive service. I understand this location is fairly new and that is why it is a 3 star and not a 1.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere. They have amazing staff especially Raff who gave us best seats for the live band. Can't wait to watch the live band again next time.

Yelp
FOOD : 1-5 rating Sisig : 4 Kare-kare veggie : 5 Garlic rice : 5 Crispy Pata: 5 Service : 4 they seem busy and just want to get your order right away, so no smiles or friendly chatting. Price : 3.5 some items are a bit pricey esp karekare veggies is overpriced $21 for small plate. While other items are reasonably priced. Spacious, clean, good food and will certainly come back and try other options esp. the value combos with my family.

Yelp
Really good, authentic Filipino food. Ordered lechon, chicken adobo and their popular pork sisig with rice. Service was fast and it's a pretty casual restaurant. I would try to avoid the weekend crowds or at least get there early so you don't have to wait.

Yelp
This visit was better than my last visit. It was Friday night at 6:30. Great service and the food was really good. Crispy Pata - moist meat and the skin was crispy and crunchy. Perfect perfect perfect! Sisig - we ordered it spicy this time. Canton - large serving of flavorful noodles. Love that there are a lot of veggies (and protein) Bistek na Bangus - delicious and bursting with tangy flavors. So good over piping hot rice. Halo Halo - lots of toppings. I wish the ice was shaved more. It was a little too chunky for me but it was good!

Yelp
New Isla restaurant in the Bay Area and it's probably my favorite out of the three! This restaurant is very spacious, so even more perfect for larger families. Customer service was on par with its other locations. The food is of the same quality as its other locations too. I learned that the Kare Kare comes with lechon kawali, so will definitely order that as a combination again. Pork sisig was packed with flavor. Sinigang had the perfect tangy flavor. Overall very impressed with this new location and I highly recommend it!

Yelp
If I were driving through the Bay Area, 45 minutes out of the way on a cousin's tip, I'd expect something decent -- maybe even memorable. But this place? This was something else. The kind of joint that doesn't just serve food -- it tells a story. Loud, proud, and absolutely Filipino. The menu? A beautiful, chaotic onslaught -- like Manila traffic during fiesta season. Dishes rolling out one after another, each more unapologetically flavorful than the last. It's the kind of food that doesn't ask for your approval. It knows where it comes from -- Pampanga -- the culinary nerve center of the Philippines, and it brings all that tradition straight to your plate. Service? Fast, friendly, and -- here's a rare one -- accountable. They fixed a mistake before I could blink and did it with grace. That's not just good service. That's pride. Multiple locations, same experience -- and that's the magic. Consistency in a world that rarely offers it. If you're looking for a taste of the Philippines, the real stuff -- the soul food, the comfort food, the celebration -- this is it. You don't just eat here. You remember it.

Yelp
This is my 3rd time visiting Isla but the 1st time coming in the morning. The evening visits have been jam packed with diners, great energy but felt understaffed and food took over 45 minutes to arrive. This morning visit was a much better experience - for service and the food! We ordered the grilled pusit, pinakbet, lechon kiwali, fried bangus, and halo halo. We appreciated the bottomless bucket of rice. Grilled Pusit: good texture, almost a liquid smoke flavor, 7/10 Pinakbet: Small portion but flavor was delicious! The few slices of lechon kiwali was a good touch. 10/10 Lechon Kiwali: Well done! 10/10 Fried Bangus: Never had it prepared this way; with a crispy thin corn starch crust. small portion for the price but very memorable in a good way. The vinegar dip was a perfect compliment. Would def have this again. 10/10 Halo Halo: This was not a traditional halo halo - had a mais base, no red beans, langka, macapuno, or red beans. It was okay. 6/10 Overall, really good to see a Filipino restaurant do so well!

Yelp
Came here for lunch with a big group this morning. I have never been or seen the place so I was worried about long wait times, but I called ahead and they were able to put us on a waitlist since they didn't take reservations. Luckily we were totally fine at 11:00 on a Sunday and we beat the lunch rush! Place was packed by the time we left a couple hours later. Service was great, always servers walking around so it was easy to flag someone down. They accommodated our two tables easily. And our food came out incredibly fast! We ordered so many things but I enjoyed the binagoongan, original sisig, and longanisa. The bangus bistec was also really good, something I've never seen before. They also give free noodles if your birthday is within 15 days so we got to try their pancit bihon. I'm not typically a big fan of pancit but I loved their version here. The noodles had flavor and weren't too dry. Also love that they do unlimited rice here but I personally preferred the adobo rice! Very happy with our experience here, may just be our new family meet up spot!

Yelp
If you want to order party tray lumpia, they don't want to take the order over the phone ahead of time. They said you need to go personally and order and wait for it. What an inconvenience. They assured us it would only take 15 mins but my husband waited half an hour. The individual lumpia is so small and hardly has any fillings inside. They are also burnt. Don't bother to order. Just get store bought frozen lumpia. It is way better.

Yelp
Finally had a chance to visit Isla Grand since their opening. Isla here in Pleasant Hill is huge! Its probably almost twice the size of the one in Newark. It looks like Isla Grand took over two locations, and merged it into one large dining area with stage and music on the other side. In similar fashion like their other locations, Isla Grand is adorned with lots of decor and photos form the culinary capital of the Philippines, Pamapanga. I could be hyper-critical and point out some stuff that is different form the traditional Filipino style. But the fact of the matter is we thoroughly enjoyed each dish and left us with a smile on our face. We ordered the following: -Miswa soup. It has been years, decades maybe since I had one. And the impression I had was very good. Sure, bola-bola and patola were absent but the savoriness of the soup just hit right. Great way to start our meal. -Pinakbet. Vegetables are cooked perfectly. Love the calabasa and those lechon kawali toppings is always a great touch. -Crispy Binagoongan. It definitely hit the spot. Although they could have diced the mangoes and tomatoes more finely, the overall tastes is really solid. They have little morsels of lechon kawali as protein. And I must say that Isla fries their lechon kawai on point. -Brisket Kare-kare. IMO, a kare-kare without oxtail and tripe is 'almost' a kare-kare. But the execution of their sauce was very good. It was creamy with peanut flavor present plus a hint of sweetness too. Don't forget their baggong which I think is made in-house and perfectly compliments the dish. -Sisig. Ah, of course the famous sisig. I dig that theirs' is traditional Kapangpangan, which means no eggs or mayonnaise or any sauce of some sort. Although I did not detect and maskara (pig face) in their sisig, it did have some tenga (pig ears) in it. Flavor is spot on, with the proper umami and a little kick of spice. That is one good sisig. As you can see, my description above has some sprinkle of criticism. And some of their items were a bit expensive. But all dishes were very flavorful with profiles akin to the traditional recipes of the Philippines. Because of this, Isla Grand get 5-stars. Tip: save yourself and skip the Bilao. Sure an exorbitant amount of food served in a bilo is really pleasing to the eyes. But maybe a quarter or more of the items there are like filler food? Jeprox? Prawn Crackers? Scrambles eggs? Diced tomatoes? Go straight to their a la carte menu and order what you truly like.

Yelp
So glad to finally have an authentic Filipino restaurant close to home. It feels like you walk into a restaurant in the setting of the Philippines from the time you enter to the time you walk out. The dishes are appetizing and service is good for the most part. We've had everything from their bbq platter "bilaos" which is great for sharing, to their kare kare krispy pata, bbq on a stick, pancit palabok, and more. Don't forget to ring the bell, if your Filipino food cravings were satisfied at the end of your meal.

Yelp
Huge place. There's a dedicated area that can host a large party, maybe a wedding with a Karaoke and live band to boot? Menu was expansive. My favorite was their sinigang soup. Yummy. Lots of choices for sure. Great place to dine in for Filipino cuisine. It's good for 2 or large groups. Service was nice, many decor that will take you back and make you feel like you're back on the Island. A must try. Mabuhay!! Cheers!

Yelp
I've eaten here twice at this PH location. Their location is pretty hidden and as of the last time I was there they didn't have an outdoor sign yet. The place is huge. One separate side w dining and the spot for the band then there's the main area and another smaller area next to it for maybe for private events?! My advice for anyone coming to eat here for the first time please check their menu on their website before you come here. Their menu is extensive so it's best to go through it and pick out your choices and write them down on your notes section of your phone so at least it saves you a lot of time when it's time to order. As far as service, they were excellent both times I ate here. I love the sisig, pork bbq and crispy pata...I highly recommend. Will definitely come back here and try out their other dishes for sure.

Yelp
(Tom Cruise voiceover disguised as luigi of Spotify's 'you ME & luigi') The vibe is fabulous place for a Filipino culinary adventure! M.J. and Raf helped us earlier! And the band! Yes, THE band was Fishcake! A Bay Area Filipino fave! Joy warmly greeted and served us! Service was soooo fast! Yes, my head spun! Talaga! Kare Kare! Peanutty goodiness! This is one metric to measure a kitchen! And YES this dish was ultra delish! Pinakbet! Veggies! A wonderful medley of flavor! Black Gulaman! The drink of champions! Hints of licorice. Crisy Pata! The definition of hearty! The sauces were authentic and sublime! Ang sarap, pare! Thanks, Joy! And of course it was a great surprise & pleasure to see Fishcake LIVE! Salamat! Would order everything again! And M.J. and Raf can attest, we came back! And will be coming back for more! Mabuhay! Woohoo!

Yelp
Great vibes all around! My family unfortunately had to attend a funeral and my godmom has scheduled the reception for here. I loved how big this place was that you could reserve a whole section of the restaurant secluded from general diners. They served food buffet style including the following: - White Rice - Chicken Adobo - Liempo Asado (I think) - Sisig - Bukopandan - Kare-Kare - Chop Suey - Lumpia - Palabok - Sinigang Soup I might be missing some stuff, but my plate was too full to grab anything else. Everything was so darn good and the servers were really attentive to everyone. I'd love to come back here for a general me. It's so so good. I really missed some good Filipino food.

Yelp
Have been to another location and was excited to hear they opened a closer location to me! Tucked away in a tiny strip mall, it's clear to see that this place attracts a LOT of people. They've expanded to have a main dining area and a performance area for live music nights. They upload their performance schedule online, have TVs playing customer testimonials, and always have groups of people waiting to get in. There's also a bell you can ring if you were satisfied with the food. If you can get a table, I recommend trying the live band nights at least once. There's a stage, dance floor, lights, speakers, and overall a party vibe. Service is a bit slower on this side of the restaurant, and understandably so, as it's packed with tables and it's a bit harder to navigate around. Food wise, if you get a fountain drink it is free refills at a fountain drink station in the middle of the restaurant. Plenty of tables and workers around to indicate how busy the place is. Despite being busy, the food is always really good. Get the garlic rice and crispy pata kare kare! Plain rice is also unlimited refills. Plus, the bathrooms have bidets! In my opinion all bathrooms should have bidets - that is all.

Yelp
First of all, this place is kinda hard to find. They don't have a big sign, but if you see Chef Choy and Painting with a Twist, you're in the right place. They're tucked in the middle corner of that building. All the parking around the front are marked green, not sure why or how strictly this is enforced. The inside is hella big, with a lot of seating. Great spot for big groups or parties. They play karaoke style music and I'm preeeeeetttyyyy sure they'd let you karaoke. I popped in on a weekday afternoon and the music was pretty loud at some points. I noticed they had fountain drink dispensers in the middle of the room, so not sure if it's self serve or what. The staff who helped me was nice. I wanted to place a take out order but she told me I could have a seat, and she could bring me some water. That wasn't necessary but I did appreciate it. Their menu is a booklet! They have some pictures though, so that's helpful. I took a picture of their daily specials, which aren't listed on their online menu. Online prices look like they match what's in store so I didn't bother to take pics of the other menu pages. I ordered the crispy pata kare kare and the pork liempo (pork belly) kaldareta. The pata and veggies were packed separately from the kare kare sauce, and they also included a side of bagoong (shrimp paste). Try the sauce first! Normally I always need some bagoong to enhance the flavor but this one was actually good without it. It already had that salty shrimpiness I like. Their bagoong is pretty strong, def not for the faint of heart. If you're new to this, add it in slowly. It might not be for everyone's palate, but it def gives you a punch of umami! While I really loved the kare kare with the crispy pata, I wish they gave more veggies :( I'll be back to try it with beef next time! The pork liempo kaldareta was way salty! I saw a lot of reviews saying the food was salty.. and I get it. But since it was take out, I threw it in my pan and remixed it a bit. I added some thai chilis for heat, some vinegar and water to balance the saltiness and voila! Oh, they also serve the pork belly in slabs which I don't like so I cut those things up. Just a preference thing. The sauce itself was rich though, as kaldareta should be. However, they barely had any veggies in this dish, just a couple pieces of sad, shrunken carrots and bell pepper. I wouldn't get this dish again if I was dining in, due to the saltiness, but I would get it to take home and recook lol Sometimes you want a home cooked meal, without the full home cooking experience. I do like the way they package their take out, because everything that can leak is saran wrapped. Portions are big and shareable, perfect for family meals! If you dine in, rice is unlimited, but I think you have to add it on as a side because no rice was included in the entrees I purchased. Each entree is about $20-30 with the beef dishes on the pricier end.

Yelp
Tried this place for the 2nd time since I was in the area and craving chicken adobo. Came in between lunch and dinner time so it wasn't crowded and there were only a few staff around. Order the combo with egg and garlic rice. It came with soup and a soda. However soup was slightly salty but still edible. I didn't want the soda or anything sweet so I opted for hot tea and server said he could replace it with the soda. After they served my food no one came back to check if I needed anything else. Once I asked for the bill another person assisted and I was charged $5 for my hot tea instead of adding it to my meal as discussed when they took my order. It was a typical green tea in a bag and nothing special or top quality. Thought it was pretty pricey for regular tea in small cup. Overall the adobo was not bad and I prolly will never order the tea again.

Yelp
The food is always amazing and delicious in Isla. It was my first time to dine in this location and went on a Saturday with my co workers. We ordered a lot of food and everything was delicious except for the pork Sisig, we didn't like it too much. Service was good, it was fast but because it was a Saturday, it was hard to get a hold of our server, he was very busy. Also, there was a live band and dancing, the place is huge. You have to reserve a table in the area where there's a band and dancing and you have to reserve early in the day cause they fill up very fast. It was a great dinner.

Yelp
Isla Grand - Filipino Flavor & Fun in Pleasant Hill Isla Grand is putting Filipino food on the map in Pleasant Hill--and I am so here for it! The food is tasty, the vibes are lively, and let's be real--being Filipino has never felt cooler. We came on a Friday night and caught a live band--such a great surprise! The energy was amazing, the music was top-notch, and the food? Delicious. I was especially excited to find chicken lumpia (egg rolls) on the menu--perfect for me since I don't eat pork. Total win. Now let's talk about the halo-halo... Refreshing, colorful, and just the right balance of sweet and icy. If you know, you know. And if you don't--go get one. We were there for my cousin's birthday and ordered the kamayan (aka "janayam" )--a traditional Filipino feast where you eat with your hands. It was layers of fun and flavor: rice, chicken adobo, fried calamari, veggies, and more, all served on banana leaves. Messy? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. It's an experience, especially when shared with family and lots of laughter. If you haven't tried Isla Grand yet, you're missing out. Come hungry, bring friends, and get ready to eat, sing, and maybe even dance.

Yelp
Food was either bland or too salty. Lots of server but they are not attentive. The place gets crowded and noisy and they have poor ventilation because I smelled like I was the one cooking in the kitchen. I was disappointed because its was such a big restaurant and I was so excited to go there.

Yelp
Before anything I'd just like to say I'm all about supporting Filipino business / culture as I myself am Fil-American. I will be as truthful as possible. This should've been 5 stars but I'm giving 4/5. Here's why.. (time is a factor) Starting with the wait, it was 11:30am but got seated in less then 5 min even though it was a Saturday during the lunch rush. So that was cool. Couple minutes to look thru the menu and we were ready. Servers were friendly. Ordered Bangsilog, LongSilog and of course their popular sizzling SISIG. All at around 11:45am. At 11:50, Silogs came out w/ complimentary soup which was good to start. Less then 5 min later our actual silogs came out looking delicious. They were a little light on tomatoes so we ordered extra ($8.50 add is diabolical but whatever). Both silogs were delicious with their garlic fried rice with vinegar side. We ate it with patience to savor the taste and of course wait for the sisig with what rice we had. This is where the loss of 1 star comes. While eating I looked at the time. It was getting close to 12:15 (received our silogs and soup at 11:50-11:55). We stopped eating because I wanted to save room for the Sisig. Nothing.. we both stopped eating and guy servers (multiple) passed us and looked at us but nothing.. no "hello is everything going good?", no "did you need anything else?" ..nothing. My fiance told me to say something and I said, no we shouldn't have to. I get it was busy but man, sisig for 2 people does not take 20+ min. It was getting close to 30 at this point (after we received our silogs) and FINALLY a server came up to acknowledge us. She checked her iPad and yes she said it's been 29 min and apologized heavily and went to go check on it. Mind you, it's been 10+ min that we stopped eating our silogs because we wanted sisig with our rice. Maybe 5 min later they finally brought it out but at that point it was more "I'm ready to rate it especially after waiting so long" vs "I'm super excited to eat delicious sisig". The server gave us complimentary white rice but the little damage of waiting was already done and we wanted to try it and leave. Our original guy server after taking our order never came back once btw. Servers looked young and I was in sales for years, but still customer service is critical imo. Overall super delicious food. Jane (our SAVIOR of a server / not our original) saved us from waiting 35+ min for our sisig from when we started eating. The ambiance is good (until they blasted happy bday music louder than it should be) but overall very nice restaurant. Good spacing for tables, drinks stayed cold, everyone looked happy. But waiting 30+ min from when we received our silogs to them apologizing for never bringing the sisig out kind of hurt the experience. Will I go back? Yes of course it was delicious. Am I disappointed in the sisig and service? A little bit. Very sad too because I really wanted to give 5 stars and be super impressed but unfortunately that's not how life goes. Silogs: 8.8/10 (good servings, tasty, very little tomatoes and have to pay super extra for more) Soup: 10/10, amazing starter for free Sisig: 8.5/10, just because the service but super fire. Overall: 8.5/10 experience. Food was amazing, ambiance and restaurant spacing was perfect. But Happy bday music was too loud (I'm 36 and party but that was too much), young servers failed to acknowledge, and waited 30 min from when we received our silogs with rice to get our Sisig. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
The food was amazing! I came with my family, party of 9, on a Sunday. Upon arriving, they looked full so I thought we would have to wait a while. However, they seated us right away. The space is massive! They have a dining area & then a 2nd area with a lot more seating, a bar & a huge "stage" for performances/karaokes. The staff was very friendly & the food came out pretty quick. Everything we ordered was amazing! The flavors! We got a couple of a la carte's A2 & A3... and ended up leaving with lots of leftovers. I also ordered sisig & bistek to go (forgot to take pics)... but their bistek is probably the best I've had! The meat was tender & it was so flavor able. It is a little more on the pricier side, to me, but we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Isla Grand is another Filipino restaurant in Concord, CA but this one is much larger than its competition. In fact, this one has a larger dining area, bar, and parking. It was nice to see for the first time a larger Filipino restaurant in the Concord area instead of driving out to Daly City/SF. Parking is plenty, dining area is clean, large sections for parties, restroom is clean, and menu contains several selections of food. Now as a Filipino, of course, I will be more critical but i have to say, the food is close to home cooked. Love the presentation of the large grouping of food over banana leaf. The waiter and rest of the staff are professional and very helpful with choosing the right dishes. My favorite is the fish Sigsig and bean & pork in coconut milk. In regards to all of the fried pork, oh my goodness, got to have it! Oh, I love the touch of a pot of rice. Having the pot of rice is truly a nice touch since that is something all Filipino need to have at the start of their meal. So far each time we go there, we get seated within a few minutes. On Sunday or during weekends, the restaurant still can accommodate a busy crowd. I highly recommend you trying this place. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Our favorite for Filipino food. We had our mom's birthday celebration here and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. We had the celebration in December. We ordered a variety of dishes including the ultimate boodle fight. Everything was delicious and we had food to take home. We had a party of 16. Definitely a place to enjoy some home cooked Filipino food.

Yelp
It's a popping spot, I'll admit that. There's a parking lot that gets packed during dinner time, but if you head towards the back then there's more spots so don't only focus on the front. The restaurant itself is huge - I had no idea it had two sides and one of the sides was the karaoke side. On first glance, I thought it was an arcade attached to the restaurant. The restaurant is very lovely - there was a group singing during most of the night when my family and I were here for dinner and while their voices rocked, it echoed throughout the restaurant side and made it hard for us to hear each other and the servers. We opted for family style and my father in law ordered most of the food so I can't tell you what is what, but the flavors for most of the dishes I tried was delicious. One area of improvement would be their service - our waiter started off strong with attention then gradually fell off it and we struggled to get his attention when we needed more utensils or to chase down a dish, even paying the check took longer than it should've. While the meal was good, the singing was good, the service was lackluster so be patient if you come here.

Yelp
Finally, a solid Filipino spot in Concord! The food is legit flavorful, satisfying, and perfect for sharing. Just watch out for the unlimited rice... it's dangerously easy to overdo it! My go-to dishes? The sisig, lechon kawali, crispy pata, and chicharon bulaklak. Not for everyone, but if you know, you know. Crispy, savory, and packed with flavor Filipino comfort food at its finest. The vibe is great, with a bar, dance floor, live bands, karaoke, and plenty of TVs for sports. It gets packed on weekends, but the friendly staff works like a well-oiled lumpia machine to keep things moving. Prices are decent for family-style portions, so come hungry and ready to feast. If you're in the area and craving good Filipino food, this is the place to be!

Yelp
We had a great time last night Sat, 26Jul2025 at Isla Grand and it was our first time. This place is huge with bar and restaurant. There was a band last night. We had dinner for three tables to celebrate my cousin's 50th wedding Anniversary. The food was delicious,. We also met Chef Nino. He was nice and all servers were nice, always ensure we are good. We had fried chicken, bangus adobo, beef kaldereta, pancit palabok, misua soup, and garlic shrimp. Over all experience was great! Thank you!

Yelp
We've been here a hand full of times and quite frankly, each time has been decent. But we were just there this passed Sunday; three large tables of about 10 people so 30 total. We had separate checks and all but the experience was not great. Our table ordered Binagoongan. We've had it before in the past and it was fine... until now. We ordered it and it was hard and tasted burnt. When we told the server about it, his reply was... and I quote "is it your first time here? That's how we make it". What the? I asked if we could either have it removed from our check or have another one made for us. Server sent his manager on duty to us and she did removed it from our bill but again, you can't and shouldn't confirm that that's how you make your food... "hard and burnt"...

Yelp
This has got to be their anchor location, given the sheer size. The team here is very friendly and attentive. We were invited here to celebrate a high school graduation. Our host had pre-ordered the Ultimate Boodle Fight meal. What an impressive way to showcase their food by slowly piling it in the middle of our table. We were given gloves but I wanted to tackle this beast in authentic kamayan style. Alas, I elected not because I did not want to go back and forth to the restroom to wash my hands. Everything offered in the meal was delicious and prepared just so. My only comment is that we would have wanted more Lumpia Shanghai and Longanisa.

Yelp
We wanted to try EVERYTHING on the menu! Love how the menu has photos for all of the food they offer. Everything we ordered was delicious, service is fast, and the restaurant is huge! They even have a bar area where they show games, hold events, etc. We already know we'll be coming back again soon! PS: unlimited rice - yay! (dine-in only) menu: https://www.islafilipinorestaurant.com

Yelp
Excellent and delicious food. Free unlimited rice. Live band on certain nights. I have been there twice.

Yelp
Loved this huge Filipino restaurant and it was packed with locals. All the food was delicious! They don't serve dinuguan which is my favorite but most people find it too exotic . Would love to come back again.

Yelp
Glad to have a good option for Filipino food. I've only been here twice but both times were enjoyable. The Brisket Kare Kare was too chewy in my opinion so I recommend the Kawali version which is amazing. Service was good and the restaurant felt clean and welcoming. I hope they keep it that way.

Yelp
I have been here three times and each time was so delicious! I had so much food and every dish is tasty and fulfilling. My favorites are the sisig, kari Kari, crispy pata and pancit. They taste quite authentic and the portion is perfect for groups. You can bring your own cake by paying $20 fee. But it is totally worth it and they will play the birthday song for you too. Super fun!

Yelp
Everything was really good! Service was quick! And if your feeling home sick Definitely eat here One thing I'd say was the Tocino was extra sweet! Sweeter then I'm used to But over all it was a good experience

Get my menu and I waited almost 20 minutes and nobody no waitress went to my table!!! so I left because that Service I don't know why but maybe racist Restaurant!! I say that because 99% of the customers were Filipino! And I know it is the other tables were being served. They ignore me completely. I am American born Nicaragua my complexion is white!! I don't recommend a restaurant if you're not Filipino!! Too bad because I love Filipino food!!!

Yelp
Had reservations to celebrate a birthday dinner on a weeknight with a party of 9. Got seated right away. It wasn't too busy when we arrived but started to pick up throughout the evening. Driving here you wouldn't even know it was in this quiet strip mall since there's no sign outside. It was my first time at this location and I was impressed by how large it was. Only the main dining area was open, but there was another section next to it, and an area in the back near the restrooms with a bar and dance floor that could be used for events. We ordered A LOT of dishes and I thoroughly enjoyed EVERYTHING I tried. Being Filipino, I usually don't like going out to eat Filipino food bc "we have it at home," but I was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was lol. Wish I had taken more photos but I was too busy eating. The service could have been a little better but overall, I'd definitely come back!

Yelp
I am so happy we finally have a filipino restaurant in our area. What a great move on Isla's part! The restaurant is huge and they extended into another part of the building, which will have a full bar. My family and I came here as soon as we heard about the soft opening. We ordered the lechon kawali Kare Kare (my favorite and go to), crispy binagoongan, bangus sisig, lumpia, pork sisig, and adobung pusit. We've been back several times since and our go to is always the lechon kawali Kare Kare and pork sisig.

Yelp
S E R V I C E : We were a family of 10 that made a reservation to celebrate my daddy's birthday. My mom called a week ahead, and they told her to call 30 minutes before we arrive to let them know. She did that on the day of, and they said they don't make any reservations! The line was LONG, and we were confused/annoyed with the communication. However, our wait ended up being only 15-20 min, so that wasn't as bad as we thought. Our servers were amazing. They made us laugh and made sure everything was okay. F O O D: We had the Isla Ultimate Boodle Fight, and it came with every popular Filipino dish! Including 3 halo halo's which are big enough to share. We also ordered a side of Kare kare because...you can't not have Kare Kare when you eat Filipino food! Everything was delicious, and eating with your hands was an experience for us all haha. O V E R A L L: Definitely wouldn't mind coming back, especially to try the individual dishes and more dessert. The place is huge inside so there's plenty of room for big parties.

Yelp
We celebrated my son's birthday at Isla Grand in Pleasant Hill, and it was everything he wanted--amazing Filipino food in a fun, festive atmosphere. He had one request: all his favorite dishes, and Isla Grand delivered! We ordered crispy pata, bihon, calamari, lechon kawali, sisig, fried rice, and finished with halo-halo for dessert. Every dish was packed with flavor--crispy, savory, and perfectly seasoned. The crispy pata and lechon kawali were golden and crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside. The sisig came out sizzling and spicy, just the way we like it. Even the bihon and fried rice were standouts--comforting and delicious. And the halo-halo? A colorful, refreshing finish to a great meal! The vibe was perfect for a birthday--spacious, lively, and full of energy. There was music, colorful lighting, and just the right amount of celebration without being overwhelming. The service was attentive and friendly, and the food came out hot and fresh. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Filipino food or planning a fun celebration. We'll definitely be back--thank you, Isla Grand, for making our son's day so special!

Yelp
Recently had a chance to finally try the much anticipated Isla location in Pleasant Hill! I've had Isla in San Bruno, which is amazing, so the bar was set high. This location did not disappoint! First off, this was a few weeks after they opened, so we had to wait an hour, on a weeknight! Hopefully it's a lot quicker now. On to the food! We were here with a decent sized group for my friend's bday, so we ordered a lot of food. Let me just say that everything was delicious! It's as if your grandma cooked it, this is true Filipino comfort food! We ordered sisig, lechon kawali, bistek, lumpiang Shanghai, tocino, sinigang, garlic rice, and got a free order of calamari! My favs were the sisig, lechon, and sinigang! Also, the food came out quick! We made several re-orders, and everything came out quickly! The service was great as well! The ambiance, I don't know how to describe it, but if you've been to the San Bruno location, it looks similar, but bigger. All in all, this was an amazing meal and I'll be back soon!

Yelp
It's been years wanting to try this place, but never wanting to travel far from it. Just when they open, we move to San Diego, but it's alright since we came to visit, we wanted to stop in. The vibes are pretty good in this place. Everyone is pretty friendly and it feels like you're at a giant family party. I will say because it's pretty busy at times it can be difficult to reach a server- so patience is really required. The portions of the food seem decent. The flavors were mostly good. I don't think we're use to some of the flavor combos since the food is prepared in what feels like a different part of the Philippines. Sisig is definitely a must, the longanisa was good and so was the palabok. The other dishes like the caldereta and the tinola were super salty and it was alright. I will say Birthdays are great here you can go there like every day within a 2 week period and get a free dessert and song performance. Like most say it is hella loud, but Filipinos are loud so you know haha. It's fun! Will we come back, sure I'll torture myself with my aunties judging the food but should be a great time!

Yelp
I came here once before with my family during their soft opening. It was a little chaotic. I decided to give them a second chance so here I am. I went here yesterday with dad and I ordered the Bansilog rice platter and a halo halo (More on that in a minute.) My dad ordered the tinola combination, calderetta beef, and crispy pata. The Bansilog platter was pretty good, it definitely had me feeling full. The tinola, calderera, and lechon were pretty good also. The halo halo was decent, nothing too crazy. The best dish would probably be the crispy pata. In regard to service, although our waiter was really nice, he was kinda forgetful. Our waiter forgot to give me the soda that comes with rice platter and also mixed up my order. I wanted the Tibuk tibuk but instead I got the halo halo... But I guess that's okay... The restaurant has a lot of seating available and parking here isn't a big issue. In summary, I would give the food a 4/5, service a 3/5, and ambiance a 4/5. If I could give a 3.5, I would. Still my dad enjoyed his experience here and he said that he wanted to come back again. I guess that's what really matters. Try it out if you like. :)
