Islam Food Since 1950

We saw Islam Food Since 1950 on TikTok and noticed many good reviews, so we decided to give it a try during our Hong Kong trip. When you arrive, you need to take a queue number first and inform the staff how many pax are dining in. After that, just wait for your number to be called. The system is quite straightforward and organized. We ordered Pan Fried Beef Bun, Fried Noodle with Shredded Chicken and Shredded Beef Curry Fried Rice. Everything we ordered was really tasty and full of authentic flavour. The Pan Fried Beef Bun was juicy and crispy on the outside. The fried noodles were fragrant and comforting, while the curry fried rice had a rich taste that made every bite satisfying. Most importantly, the food is halal, which makes it even better for us. It’s not always easy to find authentic halal local food, so this place truly stood out. Honestly, I think I will miss this food whenever I think of Hong Kong. It left such a memorable impression on us. Definitely recommended if you’re visiting!

If you’re craving some authentic curry in Kowloon City, this restaurant is a must-visit. Despite the abundance of Thai and Chinese cuisine in the area, this restaurant stands out as a culinary gem. Having been a loyal customer for years, I can confidently say that this restaurant never disappoints. The star of the show is their Mutton curry. It’s so popular that most diners opt for it over the beef brisket curry. One hidden gem on the menu is the stir-fried mutton with cumin, served with bread. For just $99 HKD, you can indulge in the warm, smoky, and earthy aroma of this dish. It’s a must-try for couples visiting the restaurant. In conclusion, this restaurant in Kowloon City is a must-visit, and I can confidently say that it never fails to impress.

Came here mainly for the famous beef bun after seeing it online. It looked amazing, but honestly it didn’t quite hit for me. Not bad at all — just not what I expected. A bit too greasy, slightly undercooked for my taste (maybe I should’ve asked for it to be cooked more), and way too juicy to eat, in my opinion. Friendly warning: if you’re not careful, it can literally explode all over the table on the first bite 😅 On the other hand, the beef fried noodles were a total win for me. Super flavorful, a little on the heavy side, but that’s exactly how I like them. Quick tip for first-timers: the bowl of water they bring at the start is for rinsing/dampening your chopsticks and spoon — and they’ll take it back fast if you don’t use it right away. Also important: cash or Octopus only, no credit cards. There are a couple of banks nearby, but better to come prepared. Worth a visit imho 👍🏼

The food was good, but the service did not meet the same standard. Most of the staff were chatting among themselves and did not appear very attentive to customers. On a positive note, the place was clean and well maintained. However, the beef buns were somewhat undercooked, as the dough still felt raw.

Was abit of a queue around 12:30pm on a Saturday night but it went down pretty quick. I've been wanting to come here for the last four years and finally made it! Can confirm that the food is delicious. Got the infamous beef meat bun which was flavourful, succulent & juicy - a little oily but great overall. The mutton steamed dumplings were gamey but again flavourful and I really liked then. The chicken and jellyfish dish was well portioned and I loved how it wasn't dowsed in oil. For a local restaurant, the service was also decent

Highlight: Yes, the food is generally good but nowhere close to the hype. I highly recommend their signature dish, beef bun (just beware that the bun is filled with a generous amount of hot soup and it will explode outward when you bite into the bun). ABSOLUTE LOW POINT It’s amazing how one bad staff could completely destroy the entire customer experience. We were waiting for the dessert and a lady staff told us we had to hurry up because they wanted their table back. First they messed up half of our orders and then they had forgotten about our dessert. What’s inexcusable is that they tried to kick us out before they even gave us the dessert. In this day and age, having good food is meaningless if it is paired with poor customer service. For me, there is no point to come back again. One bad experience is more than enough. With their price points there are plenty of eateries that offer equal or higher quality dishes and most definitely much, much better services.

I come here to eat the pan fried beef bun every time i come back to HK. But this time, it didn’t taste the same. Both the curry and the beef bun were lacking flavour. It’s lost the aroma and richness in the curry which was disappointing. I don’t think i will visit again.
