SUCH a vibe. Breakfast is delicious. The service is amazing. I’m so happy to have a new brunch spot in my neighborhood! The coffee is so good too! Don’t sleep on this gem.

We had an excellent breakfast there on a Friday morning. This is not a place to come if you are in a rush. It was definitely managed by people who care about their customers and the food they serve. The staff was very friendly and they were all family to one another so they take pride in what they deliver. We sat outside and the set up makes you feel like you are in a small restaurant in the Caribbean. Just gorgeous. Will be back there again.

We are very excited there is a wonderful restaurant within walking distance. For the past two Sunday's a several of the neighbors have gotten together and walked down to the cafe for a mid-afternoon brunch. Each time has been a delicious dining experience; leaving us wanting for more. The portions are very large... can you say dogie bag! I love the grilled lamb, curry chicken and the shrimp (several pawns) pasta dishes. I get the 1/2 & 1/2, making sure my husband gets one of my other favorites. The dessert...Wow! The owner, who is also the chef uses his mothers recipes. You can taste the love. His lovely wife is very personable, stopping by the tables to welcome the guest. When the chef has a chance he pops out as well. Although reservations are not required, give them a call let them know you're joining them this Sunday (11-6 pm). Support our local eateries.

Amazing place with amazing food that represents the culture. The decor of the cafe, hotel, and spa give you that real island feel. They will treat you amazing here and I wouldn’t choose anywhere else to stay in Los Angeles. The hotel is extremely clean and very cozy with no issues whatsoever, as well as parking being the least of my concern. 5 stars would recommend to all my friends!

Had a great Sunday breakfast sitting outside enjoying the mooring weather. The crepes were delicious and the coffee was strong. The owner came out and we had a good chat - he was very friendly and made me feel welcome as a visitor to the city.

I happened upon Island Boys Cafe and what a great surprise! Amazing food and awesome service! I got the dinner special; it was delicious. The dinner included tropical fruit plate, salad, soup, Coconut salmon entree, and dessert. Quality ingredients, the food presentation was well put together, great decor, and just good overall vibes from the hostess and chef.

Google
What a jewel of a restaurant in the Mid City area of L.A. If you want a Melrose feel and excellent food this is the place to go. Relaxed atmosphere and the owners are fantastic. The decor gives you an island feel and there is lots of seating inside and outside. I am breakfast person so I highly recommend the blueberry pancakes which are delicious. Its on the corner of Pico & Orange Dr.

Yelp
Stumbled by this place cause it was nearby and glad I got to check the place out. 1. Curry chicken - 5 2. Jerk bbq chicken - 4.5 3. Tobago Roast Chicken - 4.5 1. The curry was well cooked and full of flavor. The curry tasted like a mixture of Indian and Japanese curry. 2. The bbq sauce had a mixture of sweet and spicy. 3. I enjoyed the flavors of the dry rub. Support local businesses and the service was great. I'm coming back for their breakfast and dinner stews!

Yelp
I had read an article about this food. Looked a reviews got excited. Made a reservation on Open Table got a confirmation. Pulled up with my family! It was dark and closed. Unprofessional and very sad. I really wanted to support his establishment. I called and the voice mail was full. No updates about business hours on the front door! Nothing! What a waste of time. Back to A Beautiful Life Jamaican Cafe in DTLA. They are open from breakfast brunch and dinner every day and especially on Sunday. Or Poppy and Rose one of the best roof top brunches around. Both black owned! They open when they say they will.

Yelp
A friend organized a dinner here on a Thursday evening and it was great. The owners have warm hospitality and great cuisine. Our group ordered a variety of items - oxtail, bbq shrimp, curry shrimp and a few others. For appetizers we had salmon jerk pizza which was quickly devoured by everyone. We ate the salmon Pizza too fast to capture a picture it was that good. They have a bar and I enjoyed the refreshing homemade ginger beer - nice island kick not too spicy not too sweet just the right flavoring. Glad to support this business and look forward to returning to try other menu items.

Yelp
Friends were meeting here, and I must say it does have a nice large dance floor. However, street parking is difficult. And drinks are extremely expensive... $16-21 for a simple gin and tonic or glass of wine. And the drinks aren't even strong! Staff is pleasant enough, but I won't be back.

Yelp
Lived by here for a while and never noticed this place. I stopped by on my way home and ordered the Salmon Salad. The owner Jeff had me sit down inside while he finished cooking my meal in the kitchen. Very homey feel. No exaggeration it was the best salmon salad I've had. Super simple and delicious, salmon was cooked perfectly on outside and soft on inside. I brought my family back for Sunday Brunch. A few courses of amazing food. I rarely eat meat but the meat was incredible. All of us were very satisfied. Try the Angostura Chill drink, very good. Couldn't reccomend more...

Yelp
Love this place, I don't know how many times I pass Island boy Café. But I finally had an opportunity to check it out. The owner gives you a big Caribbean greeting and the food is delicious. I ordered the shrimp and pasta. Talking about fresh. The pasta is homemade as well as the green sauce. it was quite succulent and full of flavor. The atmosphere takes you out of LA and place you in the Caribbean. It's clean with a small bar and stage for entertainment. Looking forward to trying other dishes and checking out the entertainment. I think it's a place you would enjoy... Check it out.

Yelp
Decided to stop by for brunch here once again. I ordered the shrimp pasta because everything is made from scratch so it sounded delicious. However they didn't have enough shrimp to make two so I ended up ordering salmon . The food and service are great there always checking on you to make sure you don't need anything. I asked the owner if I could take some pics for my Instagram and they were kind enough to give me a sneak peak behind the scenes. As it turns out there's a second floor on top of the restaurant and there building a spa that will be opening soon. Along with that they have opened up several rooms that are rented by the night. They also have a sauna ,hot tub and a spa for facials is being built as we speak . I love the beach vibes this place gives me . You can find them on hotels.com to book a room and stay a couple of days .

Yelp
Very nice people here! I had the Sunday Brunch special: 2 mimosas, fruit plate, small salad (excellent dressing!), delicious soup (curry with carrot and cabbage), curry chicken, saffron basmati rice, Mac & cheese, and sweet potato. Everything was very good and it was a great value for the price. The outdoor seating area was perfect for me, since I had my little dog with me.

Yelp
The best Caribbean food I have ever had! Jeff makes everything with love and with the best ingredients. It's like you're taking a trip to Trinidad.

Yelp
This place is an absolute breath of fresh air! It's a delicious, small family-owned spot. We came for Sunday brunch and had one of the best meals ever. We got 2 courses for just $25 per person - the first one had turkey, curry chicken, rice & beans, plantains, and split pea soup - the second one had goat stew, mac & cheese and salmon - all of these were truly some of the best dishes I've ever had. Jeff and Lauren (the owners) are so kind and talented with their cooking. I can't wait to try their crepes for breakfast next time. Highly recommend this spot - affordable, great vibes, absolutely delicious - all I could ask for :)

Yelp
So I went to an event where the restaurant hosted it and fed the guests. It was unfortunately a memorial service. the servers brought out plates for the guests and I was excited to taste the food as I had not been there before and I love Caribbean food. well I sat down with a couple of other guests to begin eating I put a fork full of rice in my mouth and bit down, to my gross astonishment was a whole top of a glass bottle broken. I must have gasped when I removed t and showed to the people sitting with me. They advised I find the owner who must have already gone, so I went to who might have been the manager and showed him the broken bottle spout I removed from my mouth, his response was sorry, can I get you another plate? I said absolutely not! What he should have done was be concerned that I was okay and the other guests as well and took back all the plates for fear there may be glass throughout the other servings. It was disgusting and when I think about how that BROKEN BOTTLE SPOUT ended up in my plate, I cringe. Was it swept off the floor, did a pot of rice fall on the floor. I'm nauseas thinking about it. All I know is I could have died, cut my throat, mouth, tongue. GOD had my back as usual. It's safe to say I won't be back! you all be safe out there!!! One star is to many!!!

Hello Hello H.

Yelp
Went there for the Sunday Brunch and I have to say, the turkey and the jerk chicken were amazing.

Yelp
Great new spot in the neighborhood! Friendly service and fantastic tasting food. The curry chicken was delicious!

Yelp
This place is such an incredible find! It's a family run business and the owner used to be a neurosurgeon who quit to open and run this place. He wanted to spend more time with his family. The food is made to order and all so thoughtfully sourced. The pasta is hand made by a nearby Italian restaurant, the shrimp are brought in from the Bahamas every Tuesday. They also make a unique, delicious hot sauce I couldn't stop eating. Basically run don't walk here and enjoy the food and talking with the family who runs this place.

Yelp
The gracious informality was running high when we were there ‼. Planning to return definitely. Actually, talked about Island Boy last night whilst at another "uppity" restaurant (entrees started at $85.00). Not so at Island Boy, which is more preferred on all levels

Yelp
I love Island Boy Café. I first discovered the business online in January of 2022 hike seeking a local restaurant where a few friends and I could celebrate my birthday. I called to make arrangements and the owner was very gracious. On the afternoon of my birthday gathering, my friends and I were treated royally and fed to our satisfaction. Now, my family and I are regulars and it's my go-to spot when friends are in town. The colors of the restaurant and furnishings, combined with the excellent cuisine can transport the most stressed visitor into an island state of mind. The owner, his wife, and their staff prepare so many delicious meals with love and care. You can taste supreme quality in the food and beverages and you can feel the good vibes! There is also live reggae on many Friday evenings. I'm grateful to have a café like this so close to home. While the food is gourmet, the feel of the place is not snooty nor stuffy. It's a good business! Thank you.

Yelp

Yelp
The colorful and tropical feeling of this restaurant is great respite from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. The casual and welcoming atmosphere made me want to come back with my family and friends. The jerk chicken wings were awesome!

Maria C.

Yelp
This is a newly opened business and the owners are absolutely amazing! One of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant in a while! If you want some Caribbean food please try this place! I hope they prosper 100 times over!
