Island Burger

Food is delicious. I think they were closed down for a while but I’m glad they re opened. Ordered with door dash and food arrived quickly.

I ordered the beef ribs on DoorDash and they sent me a salmon burger from Uber Eats. The order did not even have my name but they sent out an order without checking the order details and name first. When I called the restaurant they said to just ask DoorDash for a refund which doesn’t solve issue of me not having something I want to eat. Will never order from them again. I called the restaurant and told them my order was incorrect and they said I can ask DoorDash for a refund. That was the only suggestion they had and now they want to comment on my review and offer me a free order. Instead of waiting for a negative review, that should’ve been offered from the beginning.

Not only I paid an arm a leg and a kidney but was still optimistic waited way too long no type of air circulation. Then to just get my order that was fit to only feed my 2 year old highway robbery slow service never again it’s getting ridiculous now do not recommend !

I came in to make a take out order, the two girls at the register clearly don’t take work seriously on Friday’s. I made my order & waited around 20 mins, then asked how much longer it would be. Who told me to ask her that, she gave nothing but attitude & sarcasm in return. On top of that I’m 100% sure my burger was undercooked, will be attaching photos. If you could go elsewhere to spend your hard earned money then do it. I called several times afterwards to speak to a manager and they keep picking up the phone and not saying anything. Ridiculous.

Food was delicious as usually. This time ..my first time at this location and the service was great especially from Judy. She is such a warm and friendly person. Customers will return because of her. Thank you!

My order was wrong but couldn't turn back because I was on the highway heading home. Also usually it was a hit or miss situation 😕

This is the best Island burger location. Personal are friendly and professional. Restaurant is very clean with A GRADE .I tried their Utica located one yesterday which was awful . Beware or you order from REAL ISLAND 🥰🥰

Food is usually good but be prepared to wait forever even if you call. I called over 45 mins ago and I still was waiting and when I finally got home the burger was really raw. Like it was only browned on the outside. I literally had to cook it so I could eat it. Don't plan on going back 👎

The variety of lunch & dinner options at this store are definitely worth it. I always order the Spicy Wings. It is not too spicy but rather well seasoned and that's why I like it. I had to deduct a star from the rating because the beverage options are decent. However, for an Island restaurant I wish fresh sorrel was available or passion fruit juice. Here is a bonus the restaurant is conveniently located near the train station.

Listen, I get the economy is crummy so prices go up but damn it if I pay $20 for a shark burger and fries and y'all stingy with the napkins and sauces we got a problem. I asked for sauces on my fries and listed the toppings I wanted on my burger. Everything was deconstructed. Tiny sauces on the side and a tiny thing of slaw on the side. I took a bite of the burger after constructing it and a strong chemical taste was in my mouth. I spit it out so quickly. Hoping it was just that initial bite I took another bite and realized it tastes and smells like bleach. I just continued eating my $20 fries at this point. I've had shark outside of Island Burger and once at Island Burger. It never tasted like this & now my throat acting up. Won't be getting a cent out of me again.

The food was a 2/5 overall. The portion sizes were nice for the price but the food lacked flavor. I got the Mac salad and pork ribs. Mac salad tasted like just mayo and Mac, I give it a 2/5. The ribs were a 3/5 they were tender and the barbecue sauce was good but I've had better ribs from Texas Roadhouse for less $. My sister got the trini-Chinese wings and they were very bland. No flavor or seasoning whatsoever. The wings are a 2/5 for me and the fries were okay. Wouldn't come back here again. The atmosphere was not pleasant as it is hot (88 degrees) and they have no AC. They had one fan, but one of the workers hogged it for like 30 minutes. No restrooms for customers and lack of seating area. If you have another option In mind, go there instead. The food wasn't that flavorful for somewhere that is meant to provide an island like flavor to normal foods. Hints the name of the spot being 'island burger'. My other friends got beef burger (1/5) and chicken sandwich (4/5) and they both didn't come with cheese.

I just love this place so much!! The food is amazing and I order from here at least 2x a week!! The burger, the fries, shrimp and tenders ALWAYS!!! ....... These negative reviews about the burger being "raw" is a lie.... They cook them MEDIUM WELL so that it stays juicy! A well done burger would dry it out!!! Always ask for ketchup and garlic sauce on your fries!!!

I visited the utica location and you had the best island burger ever with garlic sauce and tamarind sauce on my fries I give island burger a 5 star ratings the shrimp and fries is to die for they are well seasoned and goes good with the spicy garlic sauce and garlic sauce.

Island burgers quality of food has definitely declined over the years. I ordered the grilled shrimp salad with avocado. The shrimp were overly salty and the avocado was old. I definitely think the Utica location has better quality food and service than this one.

I am a regular customer however as of lately, the quality of food is decreasing. I am disappointed because the food is not cheap. Sad to say that it will be my last time ordering

Island burger is one of my favorite stops for a juicy bite. The food is amazing! My favorites are their wings and burgers. A+ to their service; the staff is welcoming and lovely. You should definitely try them out. xx

Ordered D island burger and asked for cheese and bacon and they did NOT comply. Not mad just disappointed........ maybe it was the waitersses first day

So I work on nostrand and wanted to try this location food. I had the shark with everything on it and sweet potato fries. The shark was fresh. The fries were cool. The only thing I don't like is they do not answer the phone. I have to go in and physically order them wait 15 mins for the food. Mind You I'm on lunch

Two stars for the counter girl only. She was great and knowledgeable, though I could barely hear her over the overly loud music being played and sung loudly along to by the terrible chef in the back. I say terrible because I ordered a rare burger and got one well done. The fries were cold and had clearly been sitting out so he didn't have to keep making them fresh. This was my first time going after doing a delivery from there and thinking the food smelled good. It was at night and at the other location and was most likely some chicken wings and fried seafood actually made fresh I was delivering. But I wanted to try a burger. You figure the place is called Island Burger, so when you order the Island Burger it's going to be great right? Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. This was maybe a four ounce patty that is about a centimeter short of filling the cold lifeless bun it was served with. For the over $13 asking price they're asking, this should be a nice 8 ounce patty you would expect from a place specializing in burgers. Part of what shrank it size is the blatant well-done cooking. This burger was also not hot and was most likely precooked and being kept warm somewhere that continued to slowly cook it over time. And it's not like I'm the annoying customer asking for a burger rare when they all come they same way - at a fast food place for example. The counter girl asked how I wanted it cooked. One of the best things about beef is you can eat it rare because a seal forms around it when you cook it to keep you from getting salmonella like you would in chicken. This is why I rarely eat out and cook my own food because so many in the service industry in this area don't care about the customer and you're better off saving money and doing it right yourself. In this business - which I'm a part of - every customer count and you should be striving to put your best foot forward especially with a new customer there like myself. Anyone willing to choose your establishment to spend their hard-earned money should be appreciated and your work should reflect that. This chef needs to stop forcing the counter girl to play overly loud music he can sing to to the point of it hindering her customer service and focus on refinement. Refinement is rare these days. Refinement means you take what you've been doing and constantly find ways to make it better. This is how entire cultures and civilization itself has advanced throughout the centuries, and what makes NYC such a great food and culture Mecca for all people. But this chef simply doesn't care. He should have more pride in himself and his job. I tried to call to give him a piece of my mind and no one answers the phone. What a great way to avoid accountability for your awful work. All in all, this place pretends to be a specialized burger joint when it's really glorified fast food. I ordered the grilled shrimp salad and the size of the shrimp was very disappointing. Instead of just a normal size shrimp you might expect in a $15 salad, you get the shrimp you'd find in a Chinese food fried rice straight from the pollution filled bogs of Thailand where so many of them come from. If I had known this was the shrimp it came with I would not have ordered it as they are hazardous to your health. Nothing on this menu should be over $10, yet everything is 15. Everything about the salad could have been a notch up better quality. You expect a bountiful tropical salad with mango and the added avocado and you get what looks like a prepackaged salad from McDonalds. The fries were cold. The bacon had been sitting out like a bodega because the chefs not a professional, and we had to heat the whole thing up, cooking the burger even more. The tomato needed work, though I will say the lettuce on the burger was strong and fresh. The sauces were good, and there's a lot of potential there, though some like the garlic aioli (garlic sauce) seemed watered-down as if they were being cheap. The counter girl was excellent and gave me two of every sauce and dressing to try as a new customer. She was knowledgeable about what items had breading in them or dairy and made a nice suggestion for the Asian wings, which have no breading, only to find out they didn't have the sauce for it. Because the chef is extremely lazy and has no idea what pride in his work is. This food will technically fill you up, but if you're expecting a tropical culinary adventure rather than overpriced fast food, you're in for the same mistake we made. We apologize to the counter girl for this review and wish her the best, but we won't be back since no one answered the phone so we could maybe get a discount for being completely disappointed with the burger in particular. It's sad when a place has so much potential but then falls so short of the mark because of a lack of pride or knowledge of what refinement means.

It's really a hit and miss with this place. Idk if it's a change of chef or just good day bad day dilemmas with them. But often times the food is decent. Use to go here a lot more back during and before Covid . Now however, I have Deff without a doubt given this place a break and hesitate to go back. If I do it's a last resort of what I'm craving situation...... that being said. Food is super salty.... Like. Extremely. The wings are usually bland however! To the restaurant owners and chef.. please please please cut down on the salt on the chicken strips and add more flavor to the chicken wings. Besides that BURGERS ARE PHENOMENAL. ! (Double check the ingredients added bc I do have more than a few instances where all that I payed extra for isn't in my burger) **

I loved island burger salads so much but was very disappointing when I shake my salad so the dressing can go onto everything . To discovered a lady but in my food I had to throw it away, I won't ever buy from here ever again.

Had this place for delivery the other day and it was pretty good. Ordered the fish and shrimp with fries, and the homemade sorrel. It was a tad bit pricey but good portions! A good amount of both fish and shrimp with the fries. The potato salad through me off because there were some pretty big pieces of potato in there and corn? But hey everyone has their way. Would order from here again, quality food that was seasoned and didn't disappoint!

This place is amazing!!! I've been ordering from here since Covid. I got lunch the other day and it was very tasty. The customer service provided by Kerdisha was exceptional! The food is reasonably priced. I'll definitely stop by again.

Island burger really be coming in clutch after a long day of work. I look forward to always having the Grilled Shrimp which is the Best! So flavorful. My husband recently changed his diet so he tried the Soy burger. He ate it so I assume it was good. Island Burger thank you for providing great customer service and delicious food. Came on a Sunday around 2:30pm for lunch. Small little joint with only 4 wooden picnic tables. Place was busy with constant to-go orders. Only 3 workers working, 2 in the front at the register and packing food. Lady taking my order didn't seem so friendly, robotic at best. Nontheless, ordered beef ribs, with Mac n cheese, their "famous" island burger, and a Caribbean soda to wash it all down. Food was prepared in decent time, lots of extras (sauces, salad, etc). The burger was drenched in sauce, yet the bread tasted cheap, dry and or/unfresh. The patty not juicy and lacked flavor. The ribs came in small pieces and sauced pretty well, but nothing special. The Mac n cheese was mediocre. The soda was too carbonated and tasted medicinal. They were kind enough to give me sauces on the side to try as per my request. Overall I'd give them a 3 but feeling generous.

I had the best experience at Island Burgers. For my first time having one of their Burgers. Literally the best burger I've had since. The sauces were finger licking good. The staff are so welcoming. Especially this young lady which I believed her name was Kerdisha. She really thoroughly explained all options there were to be selected. I would definitely tip her on my next visit. Kerdisha's customer service is top notch. 5 stars to you hun.

Awesome place. I came with a party of 4 and we ordered waay too much food. The service was super quick and the food came out pretty fast. I was surprised by how good everything was! Even my friend who doesn't normally like store bought food thought their food hit the mark.

Went here with a friend on Thursday November 7,2019 after the lunch rush. Location: This is on a busy street so parking can be difficult but people seem to double park as if it's not an issue. Service: This is not traditional fast food. I would suggest calling ahead to place your order or carving out extra time for your food. The order was a shark salad and a side of fries and that took twenty minutes. Food: The food is very good which is why people wait these ridiculous amounts of time for food and risk getting a ticket/towed. The salad has a garlic sauce that will smell up your car but it's delicious!! Overall: I would only eat here if I was in the area and had a legit parking spot. I couldn't see myself traipsing here just for the food.

I would've gave this more ratings if I didn't get sick. I normally don't eat at places with a B on it but after looking on yelp through pictures of the fried fish and chips I liked their presentation. I didn't know it had a B until I arrived but when I arrived they were packed, so I took a chance on eating the food. I went on a Saturday and again on Sunday the food was good the sauce was good but after eating it Sunday night. I woke up in the morning sick from the food. This is just my experience like I stated the store was packed for Saturday so that's why I took a chance this just for me confirms do not eat anywhere where a sanitation grade A isn't posted. I normally don't but I'm done after this. Also I asked for lemon juice they started laughing lemon juice like I said something foreign I put lemons on seafood. They said this ain't fresh you don't have to worry about that I said wow and was done after that.

Ordered to pick up. d Burger: i order medium well and the beef was dry, hard, chewy and too well done. Creative side is that they add a slide of can pinapple. Other than that, i dont see why people talk highly about burger here. BBQ wing: its juicy inside out, flavorful. Better than Burger. I would suggest to try the wings.

I was curious to see what all the rave was about. I can tell you I was quite pleased and not one once of regret. Well worth the wait. Tasty and very filling. Staff was very nice and accommodating as I could not decide what to eat from the Menu. (Like a kid in a candy store). Will definitely not be my last visit.

I like coming here off the subway on my way home it's a great place to get an island style burger, my wife loves their shrimp & chips and my son loves the huge steak fries. The sauces are unique and tasty, they really enhance the flavor of food. The staff is always friendly and professional, no wonder it's always busy.

I have ate at this establishment many times including their other location. I want to give them more stars but I can't. This place has potential and many customers but the customer service needs a lot of work. It always takes 30+ mins to wait for my food even if I call in advance, I have to wait. The staff needs to work on how the interact with their customers and their ticketing/order system as well. As for the food, I often get the shrimp and chips, mostly because the other options never taste as good to me. The fried shrimp with fries and the different sauces are good. However, my recent order, the fries were barely warm and the shrimp could've been crispier for "fried shrimp". I support local businesses and hope they can improve their services to keep their customers coming back and happy.

Normally I like food from here, but they messed up my mom's order :( We ordered spicy fried wings & a chicken burger, which is what is on the receipt.. but we got chicken strips instead of the burger.

The beef ribs is pretty okay and their fries are yummy with the garlic sauce. HOWEVER......the pork baby ribs I got was not right, it had a odd smell to it and when I took a bite I knew it was spoil! I totally lost my appetite.

Didn't expect much when I walked past this hole in the wall establishment. Ordered the beef ribs with fries and waited for about 5-10 minutes. They had four sauces to choose from and the server doused the fries and the meat with tamarind and mango sauce. Delicious and very reasonably priced at just $10. Worth a visit for sure.

Like seriously!! I ordered through Uber eats asked for specific toppings such as mango chutney, coleslaw, lettuce, and red onions I mean at least I got the red onions and the food was cold.

Order pick up from Island Burger, got bbq wings with sweet potato fries and a D island burger. They gave me a burger with JUST A BUN WITH A BURNT PATTY. Where is my coleslaw, pineapple, lettuce, tomato and garlic sauce. Tried calling them but no answer. Called 8 times. Also cashier was nasty when I came to pick up food.

Island Burger is decent for a quick lunch. I got the chicken salad with plantains, avocado, and cheese. I wish it was more of a salad and not just a bunch of uncut ingredients in a bed of lettuce. But it'll do. With the limited healthy options on Flatbush, this is not bad.

i enjoy the food here. My favorites would be the soy burger, shrimp and chips, or the combo (shrimp, tilapia, and fries). I think my main issue is that they never answer the phone so you can make the order beforehand. Oh and do not bother to get the macaroni or potato salad. They need to change vendors/the person for who makes it.

I'm rounding my 3.5 stars up to a 4. The food at Island Burger is delicious. There are several options for meat eaters and vegetarians (not many vegan options) and the price point and food portions are fair. The only complaint is that the Nostrand Ave location is a very popular place so the lines and wait times are very long. I would be prepared to wait at least 20-30 minutes before being served during rush hour. You can certainly call ahead, if you can get through, to place your order.

I absolutely love coming here, literally my go to spots. I usually get the shrimp(grilled) and fish(fried) combo with sweet potato fries, which always comes out GREAT. I had the turkey burger a few months ago and that was delicious. Parking can be hectic, since it is on Nostrand but it's worth it!

The food was good and I enjoyed my meal . The only concern is that it does take awhile for your food to come so I would suggest you call it in before thinking about coming in and ordering. Since finding out about Thai place I have had the sweet potato fries , the chicken strips and the Island burger and I have complaints on the food of the amazing sauces they offer. Will give this place another go to when I'm in the area

Ordered a beef burger and salmon burger. Beef burger was 50¢ more which is fine. But look at these size differences. One of these is a burger. The others an enlarged meatball

Quintessential Brooklyn Carribean spot with a trendy twist. This isn't your average burger place- Island Burger offers classic beef and turkey burgers all the way down to shark, tilapia, soy and chicken burgers (yes shark!) Everything here is a great value a burger with a side (fries, macaroni salad, mac and cheese) with run you around $9 for a generously portioned fresh meal. The staff here is super friendly and laid back and the aura is very chill, expect to dine to dancehall music as the staff playfully dances in the back! Oh and the famous garlic mayo is that good (as well as the mango chutney). This place also gives you the option of trying unique burger toppings including plantains and pineapple. Another pro is they're open til midnight on the weekend and if you walk in at 11:30 PM like I did it'll still be busy and the staff will still serve you with a smile.
