Where to Find the Best Shave Ice Desserts in Portland | Eater Portland

"After hours of roller coasters and mini golf at Oaks Amusement Park, Island Daydream is the ideal treat to punctuate the weekend. The shave ice cart douses its snowballs with local fruit juices and syrups, with options like Oregon strawberry-tarragon and Willamette Valley raspberry-lavender. Kids in desperate need of nostalgic, neon-colored syrups like cotton candy and bubble gum, no fear — the cart knows its audience, and provides plenty of options to please all types. Check the calendar for hours." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
They came to our work for shaved ice. Delicious!! As good as any I had in Kona, Hawaii. I had the Mojito with mint and the orange with basil. The ice was a nice fine texture and the sno-cap was good too. Highly recommend!

For my 1st 4th of July at Oaks Park my experience was amazing, except for the weather 😒 too hot 🥵 but hey!!! Island Daydream save the day 😊 the flavors shocked me because they were so good, and the ice was easy to eat not like other ones that feel like rocks 😂 🍧🍧🍧 I hope to be back soon to try more flavors they have like 20 or so 😁

My family and I went to Oaks Park a few weeks back. Had a really good day, though it was hot outside! So we thought it would be a great idea to grab some shave ice, wrong. The people working were completely rude to us, from the way they talked to us, took our order, tone of voice, etc. It was RUDE. I felt like it was racially motivated (We were the only black family in line). We definitely didn’t feel like valued customers treated with respect. Though it’s been a couple of weeks, I HAD to make sure to leave this review!! And I never leave reviews unless it’s superior service or terrible service!! Unfortunately, this was not a good experience at all! It actually put a damper on the rest of our time at the park!

Google
Absolutely the best shaved ice we’ve had. And I LOVE that they have handcrafted flavors made with real ingredients. Great flavor options for kids and adults.

WHAT THE HELL IS TAKING SO LONG TO MAKE ICE??? You would think they are butchering a cow. These people are the slowest people in the world to mark the simplest desert.

Google
Best shave ice in Portland! Especially the homemade flavors. Always worth the wait.

Google
I missed shave ice so much and am so happy someone is filling this niche. I went with my 3 year old and she loved it.

Google
Hand shaved ice with syrups made with fresh, local ingredients. Super good stuff!

Yelp
In addition to many usual flavored syrups they also have a handful of homemade flavors. I tried lemon and raspberry and they were both amazingly delicious. Each one I tried had an herb in the recipe in addition to the fruit, one was rosemary and I think the other was tarragon. I was a little skeptical about that but it was very subtle. They were the best shave ice flavors I've ever tasted.

Yelp
This was someone's house. Not a brick and mortar place. There was a food truck on the front lawn that was closed.

Yelp
I got to try their shave ice truck at a recent Rose Festival event and was pretty impressed: - The ice was really smooth, - They had a large selection of flavors (many of which were unique, made in house with no artificial ingredients), - Free condensed milk topping - Fairly priced ($4/5 for small vs large), - They take both cash and credit cards. In a perfect world they would also offer additional toppings like mochi, azuki (red) beans, tapioca or jelly balls, etc, but I recognize the limitations of a small truck could complicate things quite a bit. They move around to different spots in the portland metro area, so you have to check their calendar to know where they will be on a given day. They also are available for booking at private events! Perfect for a summer birthday party or corporate event!

Yelp
Best shave ice I have ever had. Just went looking to see when they are open and was saddened to find they are n longer in the area. Oaks Park is too far to roam for an after dinner treat on a hot summer day. Happy for the owners who have clearly grown and are doing well. A loss for NE Portland.

Delicious and refreshing shave ice right in the park! Classic and PNW natural flavors.

Yelp
Just had their shave ice for the first time today and it definitely won't be my last!!! Best I've had in Portland by far!

Megan P.

Yelp
Amazing flavors, many natural choices with real local fruits. The vanilla ambrosia really stood out, with real vanilla bean. We will definitely be back again! Operating out of their own neighborhood, since there are no festivals this year. Definitely worth the ride to support a great business during this difficult time.

Yelp
It's a great little food truck with some unique flavors. The ginger flavoring is especially good, with little flecks of real ginger.

Yelp
We had been driving by for weeks always telling ourselves, "we should go there one day," Today was the day that we indulged and went for it and got the large with ice cream. There's really no other way! We were overwhelmed with the options of flavors and finally I decided to indulge in a chef's recommendation which included Mojitolime, raspberry and blackberry. Moments after our first bite we already wanted to order another one! Nice people, making people smile one snow cone at a time!!

Yelp
So great to find this great food cart! Authentic shaved ice with fabulous flavors! So glad we found this business and will be frequenting again soon.

Yelp
This is the best shave ice in the city. The unique natural homemade flavors are out of this world. John and Cheryl are so friendly it seems as if they were family. And they are also available to serve your get together at your venue. Portland's best kept shave ice secret!
